Hey :fingers-crossed:
Is it OK to keep my phone charging all night, I mean if i put my phone at 10 pm it's fully charge 100% at 1 or 2 am, after that, is it OK to keep it charging till i woke up on 8 or 9 am ?
- I mean does it hurt the battery in the long run ??
Thanks !

Hi guys,
I have some questions about the battery:
1- Can i let the phone charging all night long and disconnect just in the morning ? Is it good for the battery ?
2- What care should I have with the battery?
Thanks

Hi There,
I'm doing the same thing as you describe - leaving the phone charged while i'm sleeping. I'm thinking it should be alright, since the battery is designed to charge, discharge a little (repeat), while it's connected and near 100%.
Hi people
Yeah yeah ... stop blaming me for asking such a noop Q
let's see
After Full charge and stamina mode on i only have 9 hours of stand buy estimation ...
i think i have calibratetd the phone badly..
So how can I fix this..?
It's Nearly 2 weeks that i've bought this phone...
TNX in advance
My phone is UnROOTED

There is no BEST way to calibrate your battery. We all have our own theories.
The stamina mode thing is a semi bug, you shouldn't worry about it.
With semi bug I mean: The phone learns from your daily tasks and then adjusts the stamina mode time to it.
Mine also says 9 hours, with stamina mode 21 hours or so. But I'm not worried because I can get a lot more then that.
When you clear the cache (Dont remember from what service/app) the stamina mode time resets to "normal".

Best way to calibrate your battery, is keep charging your phone when it needs to be charged, and make sure that you followed the charge instructions when you opened the box. Then after about 3 weeks the battery will be as good as it is going to get.
There's an extensive discussion regarding the necessity of calibration in the thread linked in my signature. If you read the first few pages you will realise it is not needed.

Calibration is not require...if your phone die too quick get one of those portable battery charger, it look like a damn tampon, but it will do the job, 2000mah.
Actually
I recieved the phone as a gift and I think it was turned on and tested and they didn't charged it before first use...
Is this first charge thing that effective?

No not really. It's a li-ion battery and they just don't need that type of treatment. Alot of people will harp and whine that it does but that's pretty much just people stuck in old ways (sony themselves have a note with it saying charge for 30 minutes before use) . The only thing that's "bad" for the battery is continually jump charging it eg plugging it in to charge at say 40%, only letting it reach 60%, unplug it, use it for a few hours and do the same thing. That and maintaining a full charge for a long period of time or maintaining a very low charge for a long period of time.
However I would charge my S2 every once during the day, then again at night and leave it on charge till the morning. Leaving plugged in for excess of 5 hours every night at full charge hasn't caused any noticeable harm. They have sensors to slow current flow to a trickle when they are at full charge to prevent over charging so I guess that does the trick to prevent it from reaching true 100% charge.
Rule of thumb; when the phone tells you to plug into charger, that;s right about the best time to do so. Later wont matter so much, but earlier and you are basically wasting a charge cycle and shortening it's life.
My S2 is still on it's original battery though and it is still going strong after approx 2 years.
The best way to calibrate would be to stop fiddling and let the phone do it's thing. Reboots and recovery mess with it alot as alot of battery percentage gets lost during both of those and throws it way out. A couple complete charge and discharge cycles without powering down should be all it needs
I bought a new original samsung battery last week......... were the production date iz give as 20 feb 2013...............

A new battery from less than 10% to 100% takes 3 to 4hrs. I hope you have not purchased higher mAh batteries. Higher the scale longer the time initially till some frequent recharging and charging sets it in place. Also try a shut down of your device and charge to figure out how much time it takes. Try some battery diags apps...it will show the voltage...if your voltage is less than 2V.....sure your battery has to be replaced.

I dont see any issues with battery. Two thing:
1. Switch off the phone, charge, check how much time it takes. My phone as mentioned earlier takes 3 hrs to a 100%.
2. ensure that Wifi and data are stopped.
3. While charging in on state dont use the phone - also monitor the temperature- if its getting beyond 61degrees switch off the phone and give some time and then recharge.
Your phone has a new battery so 4 to 6 hrs is company recommended charging. So I dont see any issues at this moment.
Hope it helps, let me know.

Bro ..... it takes about 5 hrs....
well you may want to see is the charger plug is properly inserted into the socket. a loose contact does affect the charging time largely. anyway from the above posts there isn't any problem with your battery. I srtonglt recommend you to plug the charger properly and also check for proper connection in the charger usb contact. let me know if that helped
M pretty sure that it is the problem of my charger .......
As when i connected my note to a pc with bb data cable ..... my note gets charged very fast ...... btw thanks bro...

Hello,
Since yesterday my phone needs more then 2 days to completely charge? Can this be ROM related or is my device damaged?
I'm running CM10.1 with stock kernel btw.
Thanks!
No it is not normal.
But which phone do you have. In here we discuss the normal s (I9000) and the s plus (I9001)

Check your charger first. A corrupted/duplicate charger would take long enough time to charge the battery to 100%
If it's ok, Try to charge your battery in a similar device. If it charge properly, then the problem might be in hardware.
If it not charging properly in other device, it's time to change your battery..:fingers-crossed:

I tried charging the old battery and that goes really fast. At least for me it's normal. It went from about 55% to 88% in 1,5-2 hours so happily it's not device related. Seems that the new battery isn't working properly. Or should i setup something to make my device recognize the new battery?

nope, thats battery problem, android already has good battery management with.
try charging with display on n see 1% exchange in how many minute, if its takes more than 5 minutes, then its battery faulty.

There's nothing to setup for a new battery. Only just in first use you have to charge it continuously for about 2-3 hours to calibrate it with the device.
Try one thing, fully discharge the battery to 0% and charge it up to 100% continuously.(whatever time it takes) :fingers-crossed:
If it not helps, change the battery.

There's a doubt. If it's because of a faulty battery, the drain will also be worst na.? But he didn't mentioned it.
What are your charging habits? I usually let the battery down between 20-30% and charge it from there to 100% without any interruption.. Is it good for battery?looking for suggestions..
Thank you..
How long are you planning to keep the phone?? Because I'm only betting on mine lasting 3 year's. I for only let it go to 15% to 10% get as much juice as I can! When you charge it at 20% don't you think you can use that extra 10%? It gives you at least another 30 minutes of SOT. People like yourself aren't enjoying themselves!

I m also planning to keep it for at least 3yrs..I usually charge in morning and at night when i return from work its between 50-60%..then i use my phone at night for sometime.. So when i wake up its always 20-30% then i put it on charge again.. I don't care much about sot.. As long as it lasts for a day that's enough.. But i was worrying about my charging habits.. Will it affect battery life in a long run?

Yup that's right.. So is it safe to always charge it to full? I have read yesterday somewhere charging till 80% keeps the battery healthy.. In my previous phones battery went really bad after a year.. So i was guessing my charging habit was the problem..i am hoping this phone ll last 2yr without a battery replacement..

That's true.. So I guess can safely continue my charging habits.. Thank you..
It wasn't that expensive so I don't think i'll try to preserve it too much. I will probably buy the next OnePlus when it comes out anyways
I let my phone get down to 5% or less and then put it to charge... Never have I left the phone on charge longer than 3 hours...
The battery is fantastic and I really consider a full charge to last me the full day and can probably push 2 days if trying to conserve
