You can via the Chinese sellers. I just have not been successful in deciphering the webpages.

Haha I bought a Moto X on swappa yesterday, won't get it till Wednesday, and I already bought an unlock code. One of the first things I searched for was bootloader unlock. Maybe he has been under a rock?
At this point even people under rocks have heard about this.

The hell we have.
I don't spend every day on XDA for my MotoX. Why? Because it works so perfectly, I don't need to
I haven't seen any discussions about this until I searched and found this thread. I am looking because I am now being prompted for the 4.4.2 update so I need to get the latest news.
Back on the topic, I took a look at the Chinese webpage. Wow some of the translations on that page is pretty incredible Anyone have a better approach, or is this the only/best method?
Easy as pie! I used the middle man. Ive done it for my wife, myself and @JJHunterx.

What service/person did you use?
Honestly I just paid him directly [gave (Y240= $38.40) and IMEI in the payment notes] though paypal to this email: 陈阳春 <[email protected]>
and he got back to me within 5 hours with the code!
Super simple and efficent!

HTC Desire goes over 100$ with price, so I think it shoud be a bit more than that.
haven't l0st.prophet broke up his incs and needs now a new one?
I think most of the devs that say there phone is broken or lost probably just don't want to develop on an outdated phone.

OP, I think $100 - $150 if in good condition, Nath, have to agree with Nonverbose, that is a seriously short ping, (if that is what he was on about ) you must live next door to server lol...
I can't compete as I'm using hotspot shield to ping off a fake server... but this is "close" to home lol

the closest exchange is in another suburb LOL.
and he was talking about the big ass sig i used to have.
I bought my Incs off ebay back in November for a "buy it now" price of $140(AUS). It was unlocked, only used previously for about 2 months, and it was in great condition. It didn't look used at all. All the other unlocked ones around that time period were selling for anywhere from $160 all the way up to $190 so I reckon I got a great deal. It probably helped that I saw noticed listing less than 3 hours after he listed it. I wasn't even planning on getting an HTC to begin with, but I saw how cheap this one was and thought I better snap it up before someone else got it.

I was asked what the process would be once a exploit is found. Once it is found we will wait for the dev to specify how he wants the money sent. Usually it is just a donation to their paypal account. On rare occasions the dev will just say they want money donated to charity but that is rare and the dev should get paid for their hard work. I will follow up to make sure everyone pays.
This is gonna be a hard one to achieve, not because it's going to be difficult but because the S4 Active is an AT&T exclusive and the international variant doesn't seem that popular.
Need an Active forum on here. No pun intended haha

That is what I did... I took out the bloat apps... Honestly the bootloader for me is a "in the long run" thing. I am more than happy with the current state of my S4 Active, just wouldn't mind the early update and future mods that require a flash

Me too. I've already debloated and used FolderMount to move my big games to the external SD card so the bootloader unlock can wait as long as it needs too. The stock ROM on here is blazing fast and has everything I need. I am a happy camper.

If this happened he'd most likely be able to walk away with the bounty for the S4 AT&T, S4 Verizon and S4 active, so he'd be roughly $1000 richer.
With that, I'll throw in $25 because I don't think a BL unlock will happen.
Might also want to stipulate in the OP whether or not the boot loader needs to be unlocked or if a workaround to run custom kernels and recoveries would be good enough.

Isn't the S4 Active Bootloader still exploitable with the LOKI exploit from djrbliss? The I9505G bootloader is and is more recent. All you'd need is to change the offsets for the check_sigs function in loki_patch.c and you should be good to go.
Of course someone (I guess you know who I I am talking about) can always repack it with a fancy name and claim he's hacked the Active bootloader all on his own eh ?

Updated. Thanks.
@geohot if you thought getting root was quick money finding a way to unlock the bootloader (or a work around) will bring in donations for AT&T S4 users, AT&T S4 active users, Verizon S4 active users and probably a handful of international users (and maybe future note 3 users, s4 zoom, S4 mini). No one will be able to steal you joy because this has not be possible by ANY dev to date Flex your muscles and blow our minds once again :good:
The only way were gonna be able to unlock our boot loader is when theres a leak from att or Verizon with the keys or whatever. It'll happen sooner or later but not now and its not hackable. Its 2013 lol these companies are really genius.

They emailed me that it was automatically cancelled. I got in contact with an online chat rep and she referred me to a number. I called the number and got tired of waiting so I hung up. So I never really found out why it was canceled. Could have been a system glitch butI'm going to take it as a sign that I should just save my money and wait at a later point to get a new device. Currently rocking a G2 so it won't hurt but I really wanted a Moto X.
My order was cancelled because the name on the credit card i entered didnt match the one i entered exactly... Missed the middle initial.
The charge also appeared on my statement, but never went through and disappeared about a week later. When i reordered, with the correction, it was fine.

I got the email around 7:30am and placed the order the night before. Now I'm deciding whether I should order it again or stick with the G2. Yesterday was basically an impulse buy since it was the first day for Moto Maker on VZW.
Could also be adding the accessories. Some people were able to get order to go through without accessories after not being able to complete order with them.

I would yes depending on the circumstances. IF it was sold and payment was not received/revoked I could see it being possible. But if it was clean and there is proof of purchase/receipt of payment then no.
Best guess.

Just wondering if anyone has tried using the "Chineese middleman" to obtain an unlock code for this phone? I have emailed the guy a couple times asking if it were possible but he never responded. I honestly think he might not know..he just takes the IMEID number and if he gets a code back then you get it..if not then you get your money back. I may try it.
