This always feels so unfair Whenever we hear US prices in Finland (Northern Europe) we just know that it will be the same number but the currency is in Euros. The SGS5 costs 700€ in Finland right now, that's about 970$

Well I can post a confirmation here later when the sales start but I'm 99% sure that no matter what Samsung confirms or not, the price we'll be paying won't be any different unless we order abroad

AT&T confirms galaxy s5 ,gear 2 and gear fit prices
Refer http://www.sammobile.com/2014/03/20...nd-gear-fit-prices-pre-orders-begin-tomorrow/
U.S. carrier AT&T has just announced prices for all four devices – consumers will have to pay $199 for the Galaxy S5 on a two-year contract and $649 if they’re buying it outright, $299 for the Gear 2, and $199 for the Gear 2 Neo or Gear Fit. Keep in mind that the full retail price of $649 is the price for AT&T’s variant of the Galaxy S5, and that the price for the unlocked model will likely be higher (but not much higher if a leak earlier in the day is to be believed.)

They only sell unlocked models here and if the AT&T unlocked model is higher than 649$ it will be closer to 700$ and US prices tend to translate into the same figure in euros for us.

Samsung planning April release for Galaxy S5, considering iris scan technology

Well, looks like Samsung will indeed be sticking to its usual schedule of announcing new Galaxy S flagships in March and launching them in April. Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of the company’s mobile business, confirmed to Bloomberg that the Galaxy S5 would launch sometime in April, along with the second-generation Galaxy Gear (already hinted at by another Samsung exec.)
“We’ve been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time,” Lee said. “When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.” He also mentioned that the Galaxy S5 would feature a radically different design with a focus on the display, as the lack of visual differences between the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 were part of the reason why the latter didn’t sell as well as expected.
Lee also mentions that the company is looking at implementing iris/retina scanning technology for its next flagship, lending credence to the plethora of rumors that have been swirling around in the last few months. “Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology and we are studying the possibility,” said Lee; his words suggest that even if the Galaxy S5 doesn’t sport the iris scan feature, at least the Galaxy Note 4 could do so when it launches later this year.
The Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a QHD (2,560×1,440) 2K display, a Snapdragon 800 processor/64-bit Exynos processor, 3GB/4GB of RAM, 16-megapixel camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat. It is also expected to be the first Samsung flagship to have a metal construction, at least on one of its variants.

huh
I don't know how keen i am about retina scans for your phone. I have had eye surgery and really dislike the idea of stuff messing with my eyeballs.
I mean at one point you gotta ask yourself " how much security is to much?". I will stick with a pin number. Finger print scans, iris/retina, God only knows what is next?

Question Verizon S21 Ultra 512GB Sold Out everywhere

Trying to buy the Verizon S21 Ultra 512GB and it seems to be sold out everywhere,
Will these become available again soon on the Verizon site?
That's a Verizon Q.
Useless you need to replace now, waiting until the next model release might give you better options or a better price/deal on the 512 gb variant.
I'm not buying any of Samsung's latest offerings.
Between the hardware and Android 11 I'm not impressed. Still happy with my Note 10+ running fast, stable and functional on Pie.
Come on guys - enough of that -
It seems to be in stock stateside...

No SD card support and another massive cam hump. Lame rounded display corners. No intergrated Spen with a huge price tag.
Maybe the best cam yet and intergrated 5G -may- mean it's not a battery hog like the 1st generation 5G.
5G performance is spotty at best and typical bandwidth increases are reportedly only 20%.
Fastest processor yet and fast memory but the OS is using scope storage which does eat up CPU/ram cycles for nothing.
It be a downgrade from my 10+ because of no SD card, Android's scope storage, its ugly form factor with no native spen which makes it a case nightmare. It's faster processor/ram/memory are nulled somewhat by the scope storage especially with office apps.
Not near good enough in my opinion especially at this price tag and lack of key features.
If I was the OP I would wait to see what unfolds.
The best models tend to be released near the end of the year.
At this point if I needed to replace my 10+ non 5G variant, I would go with the same model running on Pie.

Question How many are trading in for the Fold 3?

I'd really love to if the camera wasn't a step down.
As of now I can't do it.
Even I have an S21 (so the camera is not much of a step down) the Fold 3 comes with other disadvantages that make it unappealing: more bulky, less resistant screen, less overall mechanical durability (mostly because of the hinge), price, most apps are not taking advantage of the big screen.
A Note will likely be released in 2022... they have a much better track record.
Flip 3 is much nicer than that brick.
I was so eagerly awaiting the fold 3 that I sold my S21 Ultra before the zfold3 release. I was stuck using my iPhone 12 PM for over a month. Now when I found out the price was $2608 CAD after taxes so I ended up re-buying an open box s21 ultra for $950, a 256GB Zflip3 for $1528 and a Galaxy watch 4 classic for $344 with the $200 rebate. I'll recoup the $208 difference when I sell my almost new Galaxy watch 3.
At that price I simply can't justify the zfold3 with its 2019 camera system. At least with the flip I can play with it for a while and gift it to my wife later.
The S21 ultra is simply the best phone out there for the moment. I'll probably buy the Pixel 6 pro too and the iPhone 13
But the Zfold3 gets a pass this year. Maybe next year...
Trading in an s21u for a fold 3 is a pretty foolish decision. See Mr. WHosetheboss's review on it on youtube.
The phone is cool but not that cool.
The Fold 3 doesn't seem to be a good value at $1800.00 (256GB), $1,900.00 (512GB) USD plus tax for the features on or not on the device. 4400 mAh Battery for a very large and brighter display, 25W Charging, So-So Cameras, Snapdragon 888 SoC is the same as the S21. Then consider you'll always have a crease down the center of the display. Samsung is offering generous trade-in promotions but those didn't work on the
S21 in worldwide sales. Difficult to imagine Samsung's stated goal to increase sales 3 times more than the Fold 2 is realistic. Bottom line, not enough phone for the $$$.

Question Anyone gotten the x40 yet, or consider getting it?

Looks nice, it's one of my options. Just not too sure about being stuck on Chinese rom
Just for Motorola to ditch that bugged phone after 2 weeks and throw a X50 on the market within 3-4 months? No thanks
software is worrisome at motorola
I'd rather get the X30 Pro just because it has a cheaper price tag and better main camera.
For those saying software is worrisome, the answer is a big NO. I have bought basically all the flagship Motorola China phones and can confirm to have solid and consistent quarterly software updates.
Not to mention, Moto China software has an exclusive Moto Shield app where you can natively use app lock, pre-select auto start apps, remove background processing of individual apps and more.
Of course, only Moto owners of recent Moto phones will know. Tech reviewers are known for their hearsay and will only praise anything Samsung and Apple.
It is an excellent mobile without a doubt, I love the fast charging, but the camera app is bad, and not to mention that it does not have android 13 (motox30) yet, ok maybe we just have to wait a bit.

Is the camera really better? I've seen here that people complain about focusing issues. Also I was checking the main sensor on the x40 and it seems to have the same one that Huawei p50 pro uses. And it did very good for Huawei. Granted it's not a new sensor but it should be between mid-hi tier
The camera app is garbage, really barebones. The focus issues have not been fixed on the x30 pro even with the newest update.
They may have implemented the sensor better in the x40, but if there are any bugs they will handle them the same way that they do with the x30 pro. They wont.

There is NO focusing issues and it's quite the opposite. The tried and tested 50MP Omnivision dual pixel autofocus is really fast since it uses the full sensor for autofocus.
In fact, it is faster than my X30 Pro's 200MP phase detect auto focus. Take note that the x40's main camera sensor is the same exact sensor used in the Edge 30 Pro.

Again, the x30 Pro is using a less capable autofocus technology compared to the x40 (or even the old Edge 30 Pro).
What bugs are you saying? I have never encountered any bugs with the x30 Pro. Can you elaborate further?

Either the focus uses technology from the 90s or it is quite simply still broken.
I am not gonna make more screen recordings since im ditching the phone - the issue is well documented in my earlier post, reddit and in Motorolas forums.
Just open your camera in a well lit room at night and introduce your hand to the lens a few times. Most times it wont focus, if it does it gets stuck. This problems expands to all light situation but is slightly better in daylight. And it only affects the main sensor.
One truth: Stay away from Motorola
The year is 2023, we are still dealing with Android 12. A big joke

It's a hardware limitation of the phase-detect autofocus (200MP) vs the dual-pixel autofocus of the 50MP camera found in the Edge 30 Pro and the latest X40.
Phase-detect autofocus is basically found in all 108MP Samsung sensors (including the ones found in the latest S22 Ultra) and their 200MP sensor found in the Edge 30 Ultra.
That is also why Samsung puts a separate laser autofocus hardware to compensate the less-capable focusing tech of the main camera sensor.

Meh. Even other Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus do not have Android 13 update in their 2022 flagship device lineup. So basically all OEMs except Samsung and Sony are a big joke.
I love it. So far the ONLY gripe I have is I have been unable to find a way to successfully pair and use my Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro with it - Seems to be a regional incompatibility. My Amazfit devices work fine with it, so I assume I will just have to start wearing a different watch and sell my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, because I like the phone too much. For some background I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra for the past year.

I'm located in Central United States. I can attest, at least in my area, that AT&T works great and I also get 5G where available. I'm not located near any large metro areas so it mostly picks up 4G LTE, but it has picked up 5G on a handful of occasions. I was a little nervous about buying a phone with no pre-installed Google Services but once up and running it's just like every other Android phone I've owned. I got the 512GB 12GB RAM version and it is SO responsive and fast. I think the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a minimal UI over stock Android keeps it really fast. The 165hz refresh rate is SO smooth and the in-screen fingerprint reader has the fastest response time I've ever experienced on a phone. The one thing that helped my decision to get this one over other Moto phones is the 2x zoom camera. Having the 3x zoom on the S22 Ultra spoiled me and now I won't even consider a phone unless it has a good selfie, normal, wide and zoom (Not Digital). I'm a professional photographer so that kind of thing is important. Digital zoom is crap. lol

I am using my very old Galaxy Watch Active (yes, 1st gen) on my X30 Pro without any issue.
I have setup Samsung Pay as well and it works like a charm.
Notifications are working as well.
------
On a side note, Galaxy Buds Live is not working properly - I can't enable ANC just because of the bug where I can't enable Samsung Buds Plugin under device app & notification since that specific Samsung Plugin is missing.
I know it's NOT the X30 Pro CN ROM's fault but Samsung's. Why? Because I have my official Europe Motorola RAZR 5G and has the same issue.
Anyone try convert Moto x40 to moto edge 40 pro?

Question Who is upgrading to S23?

I am really contemplating to upgrade from S22 to S23 just for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU because SD8G1 heats up like an oven and the battery life is absolute trash.
However, the trade-in value sucks, got to still pay S$580 even after trading in S22 along with S$88 pre-order promo code.

Who else is planning on upgrading to S23, and what phone are you currently holding?
I'm upgrading from my Note 20 Ultra to the S23 Ultra.
I'm upgrading from Pixel7 to S23
I'm upgrading from Samsung S8
1+8 to S23+
I took the leap to upgrade despite the trashy trade-in amount, because my used S22 with paint-peel on bezels and micro-scratches on screen isn't going to fetch a good buyback price via third party vendors, and may be even lesser than what Samsung offer.
I hope S23's battery performance will be good enough for me to hold 3-4 years.
Edit: Got my sanity back, cancelled my pre-order, decided to save S$585 to spend it elsewhere.
I'm Upgrading from S20 with 128 (+SD card 128GB) to S23 256GB for €599,-
Reasons:
- Battery life of the S20 was the worst in years for recent S small screen releases. Did Not upgrade to other versions of te S series, because battery was marginal improvement over S20. Now its a huge leap and a decision maker to upgrade. Today i get around half a day (12h) with the S20 and the use cases i need it for. so every half day it need a charge. So always chargers around me. Home, Bed, Car, Work.....
- S20 does not get any new android releases. Only security updates. So safe.
- The performance is a huge increase over the s20. Sock and Especially with 256GB versions that have UFS 4.0. Also the antenna is a huge improvement.
- Camera's are marginal improved over the S20, but huge enough to see a difference.
- I keep with around 6,2 inch screens, as i have very small hands. Tried an A52s. But way to big to operate with one hand. Would love to have a S23 ultra, but not possible to operate with the small hands.
Pixel 5 to S23.
A52s to S23+
from the S22 to S23 for a good deal
for 2 reasons :
- autonomy of the S22 is weak,
- the new processor of the S23 and the battery of 3900
Except this 2 reasons, the 2 phones S22 and S23 are very simillar.
I'm upgrading to S23 from my old phone Samsung S20!
I'm upgrading from a Galaxy S10 Lite to S23+.
Well, i'm still with the OnePlus 7 Pro and my 1st choice would be the S23 Ultra but since it's too big (and "boxy") for my pockets, i thought about the S23+.
What is keeping me thinking if i should buy the S23+ or not, is the screen. I was hoping that it had a QHD screen and not a FHD+. Even my OnePlus 7 Pro from 2019v(Samsung display) has an higher resolution and considerably more ppi.
And Samsung still seems to be afraid to offer faster charger speeds (45W when we see others with 100W or even 120W).
Everything is better than on my 7 Pro but the lower res and lower ppi is not helping (and yes, one thing i LOVE on the 7 Pro is no camera on the front since it's a "pop-up" one but i could pass that).
Also, i was a little surprised with the results from XDA poll. In 2895 votes, 1734 said that they won't buy any S23!
I really don't know what to do.
Only upgraded from my S22 because they paid me to. Got $800 trade in value for an old Oneplus 9 Pro sitting in my drawer, plus $80 in useless accessories. Paid $50ish in tax, but got $140 cash back through Rakuten.
Net profit, $90.
OnePlus Nord to S23 lets goo baby! Btw I got it for 299 with google fi
I'm upgrading from Pixel 6a to S23!
Had the S22 Ultra 512gb for about a week, and went back to my LG V60.I gave it some thought, but nothing spectacular has caught my eye to even get it free from AT&T as of yet!
S20 to S23
S10e to S23.
The S10e update cycle is ended and battery life is not great anymore.
Upgrading from Xiaomi 11T Pro, only because I wanted smaller size phone. Gave back my S10e to Samsung (and still have a S20FE5G).
