Hi,
Got my Gear working with my Moto G.
My only question is, how do I install apps on it? Like Runtastic, Facebook etc?
Thanks

I believe if you delete the exchange account and re-add it, it should work fine..
Just a heads up guys, the GSM dev edition is just running the same software are tmo, so anything for tmo can be applied to yours as well including the official OTA or the factory images for it

Been there done that. I have both a gsm dev and an AT&T and they both exibit the same behavior. There is a major bug in KitKat that flows across all devices.
Follow this thread, Option #2 including the last step(modem files) and you will be ready to successfully flash the OTA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536735
FAQ for Kit kat and How to prepare for it (All Carriers)
Beamed from my Moto X
Thank God someone asked this already! :good:
Btw, who is in charge of the Developer Edition updates (like KitKat and bug fixes)? The Motorola Team? Since it's not attached to a specific carrier when you buy it.
Last question, does it work worldwide? I'm thinking of buying this version of the Moto X, I live in Panama and this device hasn't come here (and probably won't, since it's not samsung or iphone market <_<). So if I select the "check for updates" on the phone, will it detect it? :fingers-crossed:

Any advice I can give my IT guys to fix this? My email and calendar are fine, contacts are not working.

The GSM Developer Edition runs the same software as the T-Mobile version. Motorola is posting the factory images on their website. You can also get the files here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost/list.php
Not sure if your phone will detect an update or not but mine does on AT&T network, it shouldn't be an issue though for you as you will have two sources to get the files from yourself.

Hi guys, I finally got a Moto X today to check out what's the hype all about! I'm very excited but also very new to Android and Moto X. So will need you help.
I'm currently on Verizon 4.2.2. I want to stay on it because I do use FoxFi and 4.4 breaks it. OTA did download on the phone but I delayed the installation. Is there anyway to delete the OTA download file and force stop the OTA?
I tried to force stop the MotorolaOTA but the download resumed after about 20 seconds every time.
I rooted the device thanks for the instruction on this sites. Is my easiest route to use the paid version of Titanium Backup to freeze the MotoOTA? I want to make sure it works before I go ahead and pay for it. Any other alternatives?
Thanks for your help in advance. I tried to browse through about 20 pages or so but didn't really find the answer so I created a new thread.
Yep, go ahead and buy titanium. It works perfectly on my phone. App quarantine does not see the app. Anyone have any free alternatives?

Do you have the developer edition or regular Moto X? What phone carrier are you on?
If foxfi is what is keeping you back, usb and Bluetooth tether still works for me. As you said Hotspot will not work.

If you're rooted on 4.4 there's instructions in a thread here to get the native WiFi tethering working. Just FYI.

So do I just update through OTA , root 4.4 again and then install that package from this thread with discoverer?
Also I heard 4.4 is a bit buggy so that's why I'm holding back to see what 4.4.2 brings.
Thanks for the reply!

Have a read of the threads around here. You need to install gearmanagerstub apk into system/apps on your phone
Check my gear manager thread for a bit more info. Will only be limited in what it can do as it is not touchwiz based
Thanks for your reply.

You can try something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862 (gear 2 though)
Otherwise any [insert non-Samsung phone] thread will help (eg. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862)
Check my gear manager thread also

So what's the purpose of the gearmanagerstub.apk? Is that specific to the Galaxy gear or do I need to do that step for the gear 2 neo?

btw best to start with an older version of gear manager (eg 1.6 or 1.7), then once setup you can try newer ones and see how you go

Ok so here is the best i can do. First of all the credit for this goes to Brendo, without him i wouldve had no chance of getting it to work.
Here is the link to all the files you will need.
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/e7h23e12rzesi/Gear_Manager
1st step... download gearmanagerstub.apk
2nd step.... find the version of gear manager you would like to use. I got it to work on v. 2.0.14040401, but im sure it will work on most of the versions.
3rd step... download that version of gear manager, then open the folder that says extended. inside of that will be two more folders (gear2apks and preinstallapk), open both those folders and download all the contents of them.
NOW YOU HAVE ALL THE FILES YOU WILL NEED
IMPORTANT!!!!!
TURN DATA AND WIFI OFF BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THE NEXT STEPS OR IT WILL FORCE YOU TO DO AN UPDATE TO THE GEAR MANAGER APP.
4th step... use a root file explorer to copy gearmanagerstub.apk to the /system/apps folder of the root directory. I used rom toolbox root explorer app to accomplish this.
5th step... install the gear manager, then pair just bluetooth.
6th step... install all files that were downloaded from the preinstallapk folder
7th step... reboot
8th step.... install all files that were downloaded from gear2apk folder
9th step... open gear manager and do a normal setup of your device
YOU SHOULD BE DONE!!!
Now i may sound like a total moron for telling you to do it this way, maybe its too many steps, maybe i just did it wrong. who knows??? it worked for me though. good luck to you and I hope this helped. Make sure to thank Brendo, this was all his stuff and he helped me a ton when no one else would.
