Warranty on dead s3 mini with custom rom - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, my friend's S3 mini is completely dead without reason (i think the famous sudden death),it was on cm 11 and i can't restore to stock firmware or nothing, because it don't turn on in any way (recovery mode , download mode or others) no charging, no connect to my pc, any led.
I think is a samsung factory defect. (motherboard or other)
In your opinion, it's possible take it to samsung for warranty repair? (hoping that Samsung, with the phone dead, not see my custom rom)
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the bad english

Your friend has nothing to lose, I think. He can try to play "dumb customer", e.g. "I dont know what happened".

[Q] Help please. No reaction after odinflash.

Hey guys
I'm really ****ed. I just tried to flash the JVO stock firmware via odin. Before I was running on Darkys 10.1 Resurrection rom.
Odin just worked normally, I booted into DL-mode, checked Repartition and inserted all the JVO files from Samfirmware using .512pit. Odin finished and gave me the "Pass!" message, then i waited for my phone to reboot but nothing happened. No vibration, no lights, no anything. I can neither get into recovery nor download mode anymore. I tried different things, taking out the battery, connecting USB in several combinations, but still nothing happens...
Can anybody help me or is there just no hope left?
Thanks
Try to take the battery out for 10 mins and try download mode again,
Thanks I will try that. Did it work before?
it has for some people but it all depends on the seriousness of the flash,
some people have corrupted the bootloaders leaving the phone completely dead
some have managed to get their SGS to rise from the dead... i dont know what category yours comes under
seems as if it didnt work... should i try contacting the samsung support?
does the phone show any sign of life ??
does anything light up ? does the charging screen come on when charger is connected ?
if nothing happens then samsung will be your last resort.
BUT act dumb, act like you dont know **** about phones, and try your best to blame it on kies, do not mention the words froyo or gingerbread or odin. you might be ok
no it does not show any sign, just nothing... just a black brick anymore
i'm gonna try to contact samsung, thank you for your help!
You had deadlys rom = broken phone .
Use download recovery jig flash stock rom with pit and repartition checked .
jje
i would love to but i cant get into download mode anymore...
the jigs i already had a look for are said only to work with devices that still show a sign of life, mine does not do anything...
if still persist, could you please send me a link to that jig?
Go to galaxy s general/stickies, its the 2nd post I think....good luck

nope, send it off to samsung, or take it to your nearest service centre, you should have it fixed and returned in 14 days or less.
until then, bring out the old nokia everyone has one, at least you wont need to charge it everyday
Thank you guys alot, got it back working after 8 days!
got it working ? or got it fixed by samsung ?
fixed by samsung! twice by now ^^

[Q] Stock boot logo (:POP" - not "mini") wanted

Can one of you Indian users here please tell me which is the stock rom in India (preferably with output of *#12345#)?
Anybody know how to get back the "pop" boot animation?
The background:-
I have to take my phone to the ASS. The (loud) speaker wont work, ever since it returned from hard brick. Since I was busy, did not bother to fix it then, instead went ahead and ... what else .... of course, rooted it and am currently running tj's CM 7.1.
Of course, I have tried stock "asia" firmware from samfirmware. (Z5ska something).
But, it shows the "mini" logo. When the phone came out it was running Froyo. And showed "GT S5570 POP" while booting; now it shows "GT S 5570 mini" at boot time. And the buggered ROM boots into Chinese / Greek / Korean / Japanese / whatever. And is much more difficult than the Russian (where escaping from the initial language is much more easier).
Since the phone is working, it is important that it is as close to stock as possible before it take it to the a/s/s/.
PS:- have tried the "press on the speaker" and "play a long video for 2 hours or more" fixes; but that has not helped fixing the loud speaker problem. So, if you can help fe fix this, it will be still fine. :-D Otherwise, the phone is working fine.

I am a bit confused by this. Did you mean that you bricked your phone using the DDKA7 ROM??
Or that DDKA7 is the ROM I should use; and rest of the post is a question to me?
Please clarify.
Regarding bricked phone, first try the "blind ODIN" way - prepare ODIN, take out battery, with vol down + middle + power pressed, put in the battery with somebody elese's help - and try flashing - even if ODIN does not recognise the phone.
Some people claim success with that.
On how to deal with the service center - yes - play dumb. Though initially did not work with me, (they made me agree to pay for the mobo), they finally replaced the mobo free. The sound issue persists.
DDKA7 is stock rom. I dint brick my phone caus of that.
I bricked my phone caus of ROM manager on android market.

OK. Thanks for the clarification.

Not on stock ROM. It works fine on custom roms - esp. CM 7.1 and other ROMs based on tj_style's CM. I have not used it though, even on CM 7.1.

[Q] Help on a brickd phone

Hey guys . I accidentally used Rom Manager on my Galaxy Ace and since Rom Manager is incompatible with Ace , it will brick your phone. So if you are reading this and didn't know , then now you know. Anyway , so I was an idiot yeah , but now I want to solve it . 1) I tried Odin , it kept being stuck at setup connection. I have Kies closed . 2)I can't boot at ALL . No Recovery mode no DOwnloading mode no nothing. 3)I don't want to go to the repair shop. 4)If there is really a way I can unbrick my phone without paying money , please share it with me I really need this help and would appreciate it Thank you
Please reply asap , I am really desperate for my items to be back but since I am rooted , I usd Gemini App Manager to force most of my apps to be moved to the SD Card . So if I have to do factory Reset I don't mind. But please help !!!
You can't fix it, if you don't go to the repair shop
Reply
Don't scare bro you'll need to repair it because is not only your roms problem. A half-bricked phone only needed to reflash or "odin" your phone will be repaired. But this time your phone's system part might damaged caused by the rom manager and you must go to the shop to repair. If that doesn't work you'll need to change one of the chip in your phone because it's damaged(The workers in the shop will ask you once they find out it's the chip's problem). Meh, just pay a bit of money and you'll get your phone back. Hope this helps!!! Next time becareful and not to brick your phone again.
1) Add Cement and build a house
2) Tell Samsung service centre it stopped working when you upgraded with kies- you know NOTHING about rooting ROMS the rest, just look nooby and sad
3) Get someone to do a JTAG repair on your ace.
4) Buy a RIFF JTAG box (more expensive than ace) and JTAG it yourself
sorry but they are really the only things you can do.
İf your phone doesn't go into downloadmod . Get someone to do Jtag.
By the way , you can try USB-JIG.İt may get your device into download mode.
Ok thank you so so much guys your replies are really appreciated , I guess I'll just bring it to the repair shop since I dk how to use the jtag or USB jig thing
Good, USB Jig doesn't work on ROM Manager brick, but they are nice for resetting flash count and going into download mode, you simply just plug it in the micro USB slot of your phone
if it is not connecting to download mode then u can't repair it by yourself, even samsung service center is helpless, because u have already void the terms and conditions by installing custom roms...

Hard Bricked Galaxy Note GT-N7000 - Possible Fix?

Hello!
During flashing leaked kernel my phone was on soft brick, I wiped cache partition and data in CWM. This was the end of my beloved Note, it is 100% dead and none of the possible fixes posted works so far.
I have heard there is a possible fix by re partitioning and connection the phone in Linux environment, this way the computer reads the phone and can be fixed by repartitioning and could get into download mode. Please let me know if anybody confirms this.
Alternatively, what is the next step. My phone is still under warranty but I am scared if Samsung would find out the history of rooting or as my Phone is 100% dead they would not be able to find out, confused.......
If the motherboard needs to be replaced, how much would it cost, where should I take and most important if my phone recovers can I still play around with custom ROMs?
Look forward to suggestions bring my phone live as I purchased it on loan and it brings immense pain to pay emi for a dead phone.
Regards,
AK
Even it bricked by emmc bug, there shud be download mode still available
-First try to get other charged battery (or charge yours) and try to put in download mode, and look to Lt upper corner what is your flash score. If it is zero, simply reclain warranty.
-Otherwise try this

Thanks. I tried using charged batteries but still does not get into Download Mode also after reading somewhere I tried to connect using Odin assuming screen would be black but Odin detects. Even this did not work
So, no way of getting DM or looking at binary count.

Your phone is under warranty yet you are asking for costs? Those "recovery" method will give you a "crippled" device in terms of mem capacity.
So go and claim warranty. They wont know anything since your phone is totally dead anyway.

Hey, I just cam back from SS service. they said it could be a motherboard issue and they are replacing the motherboard.
Does that mean they would install the Stock Rom from fresh, I am sure yes.
Waiting for my recovered phone and educating myself to safely play around with custom ROMs.
One last question, which is the best stable custom ROM available for Galaxy Note, in terms of UI and better battery life?
Many Thanks.

Congrats on the replacement;
Custom ROM's are kind of personal preference, Best bet is to do your research now while you wait and you can decide for yourself which features you like / want / need in a ROM..
Suggestions to check would be ParanoidAndroid / CleaNote from my point of view, I've tried both but still run Stock ICS with custom Kernel.. Suits my needs...
while gaming, my phone suddenly hang and i decide to restart the device itself. upon booting, i am stuck at the "samsung" logo. I have tried flashing stock rom and kernel but to no avail. i can still go into download mode and recovery mode. Anybody know whats gone wrong?
And if i send for waranty, it is a one to one exchanged?

what is the current rom on your phone? have you tried going to recovery and wiping dalvik cache? still same thing? If it is, worst case you can try (since both Recovery and Download works still) is to wipe data in recovery and restart your phone again(Don't try doing this if your using an infected kernel and/or in ICS Rom)
Going back,
You have a soft bricked phone.. Why would you exchange it for warranty? you can easily fix your issue without returning it to Samsung.

Don't worry, if it is with samsung alrd. They'll sure give you replacement of the motherboard if they can't do anything to your existing one. This is considered as the "manufacturing fault", and therefore, they must be able to replace it.
1st few batches, N7000 came out under gingerbread 2.3.6 technology, and it worked very well without the eMMC brick bug. It is happened only when they upgrade to ICS, with their own stock kernel, which triggered the brick bug.
So long as they are delaying the fix for their own stock kernel with the eMMC brick bug removed, I think samsung is still liable to give replacement to user, no matter what you did to your device. As long as it is eMMC brick bug, and you have your warranty.
Why ?
very simple... Even most of the samsung sales person on their respective outlets, they know a lil bit or perhaps don't know at all about this bug. Unless the sales person is those who likes to play with handphone like most of us here.
And if they do know... they won't tell you as well about this bug. Otherwise, will you buy it ? :fingers-crossed:
So as a consumer, we have the right to be replaced if the bug has been triggered due to factory reset / wipe of data, since no one told us about this. **peace**.
Really do hope you get your replacement once they call you to take your phone.
Good Luck !

[Q] How to Unbricking Hard Bricked Samsung Galaxy Ace

Hey Guys,
I have Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830), recently while uprading the my ace with the Cyanogenmod10, i had bricked my phone, now it never goes into the download mode so that i can flash the firmware with Odin. Actually yesterday, i used Rom Manager to Install the Custom Rom, and when said yes to install the custom rom, phone shutdown, and never started again, i googled around for some way out to go into the download mode, tried all the key combination, but could not go into the download mode, i tried the Home + VolumeUp and connected the USB to PC, with this method, my phone was detected, but because it was not in the download mode (i guess), so Odin just stucked at setup connection... and does not go further. Have anyone went through this dilemma, can anyone help me out of this, my warranty period is elapsed, so was thinking to get phone back to life myself.
Please anyone help me with this, i love the phone... I know that was my mistake to use Rom Manager to Install the Rom.
take it to the service. there is no other way. i tried everything, belive me. repairing costed me 200hrk (around 45$).
and
DONT USE ROM MANAGER
By taking it to a service center...Only way to recover it

Don't know where, but its more expensive than a brand new ace (and lots of low-mid range smartphones)
I bricked mine 1 week after getting it. I took it in and said it shut off and I can't turn it back on. They made sure it wasn't the battery, then replaced it under warranty. So if you still have a warranty, it's worth a try. The guys at the store won't know you've been screwing around with it.

Hey Guys,
I have Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830), recently while uprading the my ace with the Cyanogenmod10, i had bricked my phone, now it never goes into the download mode so that i can flash the firmware with Odin.
