Hey. I have an unlocked HTC one with a 3 UK SIM. I'm currently s-off with viperone 5.8.0 installed. I'm running an older firmware version however.
Three UK have released an update to enable 4g compatability on their network, but I can't get this update due to viperone's update feature. How can I enable 4g on my network? I'm assuming it's a firmware update.
Next thing is, I have a Windows 8.1 pc. HTC drivers and adb is a bit weird on 8.1 from what I've read, so has anyone any ideas how I can enable 4g on my phone?
I have the gsm/wcdma/lte option selected in settings, but I'm still only on 3g signal.
Any help would be great, thank you!

Do you live or visit anyone in one of their 4g covered areas?
Mine's exactly set up like yours ROM wise, and I only get 4g while visiting London. None of the areas between where I live and London don't seem to have 4g enabled yet.

I have been to Birmingham and I'm currently on holidays in Ireland. 3 Ireland have 4g coverage in dublin (which I should receive under the 'feel at home' thing 3 UK offer), however both in Dublin and Birmingham, my gf has 4g coverage on stock Rom when I'm still running 3g.
Are you running latest eu firmware?

I think I may have sorted it with a radio update.

I have a unlocked rooted nexus one and currently using T-Mobile..was thinking of switching to at&t due to service n area . was wondering if there is any rom or radio I can download to use att 3g or is it a hardware problem

If you have the T-Mobile 3G version, then there's nothing you can do to get At&t 3G other than trying to trade it for an At&t 3G version. Its in the antenna hardware, so it doesn't matter what radio firmware you try to flash to it.
Thank u man

I keep getting really bad signal on my phone. 3g keeps dropping out then it goes to EDGE then that randomly drops out.
Any help would be much appreciated

I'm using nikhil's we want ics Rom. With the newest radio. Phone is about a year old. I'm in Australia on Telstra network and reception is terrible most of time. I have compared phone to stock ones and there seems to be something going wrong with mine as others get better service and stays in 3g.

You are on telstra with the incredible s.
The Inc S supports 3g frequencies of 900/2100mhz
Optus has these 3g frequences, which is why we dont have many problems
Telstra has mainly 3g 850mhz and some 2100mhz. Your phone can only get 2100mhz, that is why you have no 3g most of the time.

Basically you are using a optus optimised phone on the telstra network.

Best answer ever, cheers mate.
So I'm guessing if I was to get a 4g compatible handset it would have fast internet yes?

Is it possible to add support for other frequencies for better coverage?
Any radios or something?

No, this is purely hardware.

t-mobile, orange and ee are all essentially the same network. I'm pretty sure that if you're not able to get a 4g signal ee will instantly switch over to on of the other 3g networks to ensure you have a signal at all times.
Don't worry - it will change eventually.
My HTC One X did the same for a few days.
I think it relies on a network update to come through.
Thanks I am on s tmobile contract.

I got my HTC one as soon as the black model came out. When I got the phone LTE was only available in the town I got the phone in. I live about 30 miles away. LTE has been live in my town now for the last month and I can not connect. If I go back to the town I got it in, LTE works just fine. I've done a ##786#, updated my profile, installed a corp prl. Nothing seems to help.
I am wondering if I need to revert to stock unrooted in order to update to LTE, or if ther are new radios. Any ideas would be appreciated.

So what your saying is, you bought the phone in City A, and you live in City B. LTE works in City A where you bought the phone, but as soon as you got home (City B), LTE wouldn't connect. However if you return to City A LTE connects and works.
I don't think the problem is with your phone, it sounds like the towers are not fully active in your city.
I would normally agree, however my wife has LTE and she has the exact same phone. My buddies across town have LTE also, one with an SIII and one with an S4. I swear the only difference is I have a rooted phone. I would assume it is the phone, but it works every time I hit the city limits of the town I purchased it in.

Just RUU the phone, and reroot. But to be quite honest, it sounds like either a ROM problem, a kernel problem, a powersave problem, or that LTE is disabled. Do a ##DATA#, go to edit, and under one of those tabs you willl be able to select the mode of operation. Select the one that says CDMA + LTE. If this is properly set and you don't get LTE, then you should install a good ROM and kernel. I recommend using d3rpOne as the ROM, and elemtalX by flar2 as the kernel. There are no radios to flash, or updated radios. PRL (stock PRL) will not inhibit LTE, nor will it enable it by using a corporate PRL. There is only like 1 or 2 PRL ranges which will disable LTE. If all else fails, RUU it. You should never do a ##786# on a custom or rooted ROM. After the RUU, i suggest you do the ##RTN# again. If you have LTE and your phone isn't defective, LTE will work. Then proceed to getting the custom recovery, and S-Off. Don't worry about rooting, since d3rpOne is already rooted.
RUU then ##RTN# fixes any and all configuration / corruption issues. If this does not fix it, have Sprint give you a new One.
Also, RUU'ing your phone will wipe the internal storage... Back it up first.
Thanks. I'll give it a go this evening. I'll let all know how it worked as soon as I finish.

Did u check network mod?
Hello
Not sure this is the right forum. I have an Att version of the HTC ONE M9. I unlocked it and have it running on tmobiles network. Phone, text, mms, 4G LTE etc all work. The one thing i cant get to work is the mobile hotspot. It is of course running the carrier version android. Has anyone got the att version to cooperate with the hotspot on tmobile. Or am i better off with CM13 and using its hotspot. Any help appreciated.
Download an app from Google Play
Tried all apps on google play and I get the same network message. I think the native app is still looking for ATT. Instead of T-Mobile. I have the hotspot data on my plan. And I want to use it.

Download ApnManager and see if you have the hidden tether apn. If you do what is the info in it?
HTC One M9
Tried to use apn manager and it says it can't get info about the network.

Any help appreciated. I am wondering if it is just this ATT version that don't like tmobile

I had an AT&T M7, and with T-Mobile firmware it worked great. Have you actually installed the T-Mobile firmware on your M9? That would involve S-off and changing the CID to get it to accept T-Mobile firmware.
No I have not installed there firmware. I have s-off and unlocked the bootloader. Of course I'm rooted. Like I said its an ATT m9. But operating on T-Mobile network. Wondering if a custom rom like cm13 is a more workable option.

SuperCiD it and flash Tmobile Firmware and also install a Tmobile based rom.

Ha, have you done LTE tests on the your ATT M9 on Tmobile? From what I read its missing one of the newer bands and you will not get LTE. Even in the specs of the M9 on the HTC website, its missing the newer T-mobile LTE band. Can't recall which one it is now off the top of my head.
I have the LTE and no issues. I recently put viper M9 on it. The att factory rom was the issue.

Does the t-mobile m9 work with an at&t gsm Sim or a straight talk gsm Sim?

Yes it will work if sim unlocked and you edit the apn settings and have a straight talk or att sim of course
