Folks,
I just updated my phone from a previous Cyanogenmod 10 to Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 with a full wipe/factory reset.
After the update I tried to re-install Google Apps to backup my Apps, contacts and setting. However, I cannot get a USB Connection with Win7 64 Bit. I have tried on two computers thus far.
I have reinstalled the drivers, have enabled USB-Debugging Mode but the Drive would not come up so I cannot copy the gApps File onto the SD card. I do not get an Unknown Device Error but when I connect the phone two "shaded" drives appear in windows but cannot be accessed.
Any ideas?
P.S.: Odin finds the Device in Download mode. Is there a way to flash the gApps File via Odin?
try booting into recovery and fixing permissions, not saying it will work but you could try.

Ok, I've had this phone for 2 months now. It's the 2.1 Eclair. It used to mount just fine, but now all it does is charge the phone when I attach the usb to the computer. I've eliminated the cord as the issue since my mom's captivate mounts just fine with it. I thought it was originally my computer, which is now Windows 7, but again my moms' captivate mounts just fine. It also won't mount to my other computer running XP. I've installed and uninstalled every samsung driver available but I still cant' get it mounted in either debugging mode or nondebugging mode. I also thought it might be a software issue since I had rooted the phone so I unrooted and did a hard reset. Still no mount! I want to get mounted, and not just by my wife!
At this point I would be happy to simply load apps via the sd card but I can't seem to successfully edit the settings.db file, either. Any help with mounting the phone or simply being able to load nonmarket apps via the sd card would be much appreciated.
Alternatively, here's a question to those much smarter than I. If I can't get the phone to mount via usb cable, how can you install a rom or nonmarket apps without attaching the usb cable?
Thanks!!
1. you can try to download a rom via wifi using internet browser. it will be stored in your \sdcard\download folder. also you need to download update.zip into your sdcard root folder.
2. shut down your phone and reboot into recovery, load the new recovery. (you may need to load twice)
3. flash the new rom by installing the zip file in your download folder.
sounds like it could be an driver prb i had same thing i belive went 2 samsung and got drivers reinstalled and phone mounted 2 pc with no troubles
I believe I found the issue.
Disable auto-sync.
Settings > Accounts and Sync > Deselect the auto-sync option.
My wifes phone had never been able to connect and mount via computer on the cable to the PC. Different PCs, different cables, everything. My phone always worked. First thing I ever did when reinstalling a new ROM was disable auto-sync. Soon as I disabled her auto-sync, the option to mount came right up.
Hope this helped.

*edit* I spoke too soon. Exchanging the phone tomorrow. It has other issues too...
I have been running 4.0 for a long time, so i thought it was about time to get a newer version. so i ran the acmeuninstaller and was about to upload a new rom when i encountered a strange problem. i'm asked if i want to initialize the disk when i select mass storage mode. I have tried from webOS and from CWM, have also tried two usb cables, both my macbook pro and my windows 7 laptop. the original usb cable doesn't seem to be working anymore so i haven't got to try with that.
I didn't have any problems using recovery to transfer using nova com or preware. just the mass storage part that seem to be out of order.
any help is appreciated.
I'm starting to suspect something seriously wrong with the tablet.
i had ran a acmeuninstaller, but still booted into android. so i downloaded a rom and a file manager, and then a problem i've been having started to occur - processes dying etc. usually fixed by a reboot. which was one of the reasons i wanted to try something else.
so i took a reboot, and well - everything i had downloaded was gone. so i did the opposite thing, started deleting everything i've downloaded.
next reboot - everything was back in place.
More of this and i'll just use webOS which seem to work well. beside the usb connection that don't work.
I have never used any uninstaller to flash a new ROM. All I do is do a factory reset, clear cache, clear Dalvik cache then install new Rom and Gapps. I did this when I went from 10.1 to 10.2 to finally 11.0. Also, I have found that having the most current recovery installed will help also. For example...CWM version 6.0.4.7 is needed to install CM 11.0 because datamedia support is required to properly support emulated sdcard storage in 4.4. I also use CacheMate to regularly clear my caches.
This is a known occurrence with the touchpad.
DO NOT, if prompted, format the disc when connected in USB mode.
If you google your problem, there is a solution out there.
If you don't find it, let me knownand I'll try and find the link for you.
Your touchpad is not fubar !!
Peace
Hi,
A colleague of mine give me his Sony Xperia T (with Cyanogen 11 4.4.4) installed.
Because there is a bug with multiples calendars that are not synchronized (synchronized once, when configuring the account), I upgrade to CM 12 Lollipop.
After upgrading, a reset factory, installing Google Apps via recovery mode, I encounter two problems :
- All is working good with my home WIFI but not my Network WIFI (My computer is connected to this wifi network right now). I don't see it in the list of WIFI on my phone, but i See the others networks.
- When I want to use the camera, it says that I must install an SD card first... But an SD card is already installed, recognized by Android (I can see it in the "Stockage" section), I can browse the SD via the File Explorer. I have tried to to uninstall and reinstall the SD card but the problem remains.
Any Ideas ?
Thansk for your help,
Vincent

do not Wipe Sdcard
Step
before your need use Flashtool go back Firmware Android 4.XX & ReBoot to 4.XX System & off system
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in TWRP you cand Wipe Anything , but do not Wipe Sdcard, [internal storage]
Then Install CM12 & APP
do not try TWRP back up, you will be Return Flash Firmware
Solved
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, But I did something else as describe in my third post (this solution does not need to reinstall any firmware) :

This is getting frustrating now, no matter what I do I get this message: "USB Device Not Recognised"
Here is what I have tried:
Connect on android
Connect as MTP
Different USB cable (5 to be precise)
DIfferent USB port
WebOS recovery
Reinstall Novacom Drivers
Restart PC
Restart Touchpad
I have no idea what else I can try, no matter what I do, this annoying message persists!
Platform? ROM?
What's the ROM you are using? Also, which platform is your PC on? Linux/Windows/Mac?
In case you are on some 5.1.x ROM, I would recommend a nandroid backup and flashing a known 4.4.4 ROM which might tell you if it's your hardware or just Android. If you were on a stable ROM earlier where USB was working, then I would recommend trying that. :fingers-crossed:
Similar Issue.
My TP actually works (sort of) via MTP but it frequently disconnects when transferring files and freezes my explorer window. I tried to use Mass Storage on PAC KitKat FINAL and windows reports that it can't find a driver for it and when I try to reboot into recovery it only mounts a tiny SD Card partition of some 800mb. This probably won't be answered but whatever. I've been trying to solve this issue the past 8 hours. I have nothing to lose.

hi, had some trouble with my win7 PC detecting touchpad (using JC's 4.4 Cm11), although ADB was installed - I couldn't see it as a storage drive despite the driver installing. touchpad was connected via MTP.
what worked for me was on windows - go to Device Installation Settings (drivers) and choose never install from windows update. Then under device manager -> android device -> uninstall. reconnect and it should work properly. hope that helps
I have a tab S2 with 7.0 and just rooted it, but when I try to access it through windows to transfer file it doesnt appear on windows, says MTP USB device installation failed and it also doesnt ask in the tablet for permition like it used to.
tryied restarting both pc and tablet, reinstalling samsung drivers and installing microsofts mtp driver.
How can i fix this?
EDIT: Just did a factory reset and the problem persists
Fixed the problem if anyone has the same.
Removed the root, flashed a clean boot.img and rootedwith magisk and it started working again.
