Hello, everyone. Just bought an used UK I8910N. When I try to enter service mode using *#0011# or *#197328640# only the "Service Mode" title bar appears with no other options. *#06# however displays the IMEI without any problems unlike the situations detailed by other users with blank service menu and "NULL" IMEI. Rom's stock 4.1.2 and is supposed to be SIM locked, but doesn't prompt for an unlock code when a foreign card is inserted. Even the foreign card-specific menu appears in apps, but is non-functional and there's no service of course. I was planning to try to unlock it via the *#197328640# menu, but the menu is blank. How shall I proceed from here?

I'm having a really hard time trying to sim unlock my phone.
I already have the code for it, but I can't find the prompt to enter it.
Here is a list of everything I've tried:
On original stock firmware. Branded Movistar (Chile) Gingerbread 2.3.4
First, a check. *#7465625# Network lock ON. All other locks OFF
Inserting another provider's SIM card and turning on the phone. Nothing.
Without a SIM card and turning on the phone. Nothing.
#7465625*638*CODE# Nothing happens when I finish typing it.
*#197328640# Debug -> Phone control -> Network lock. Nothing happens, and if a select it a second time it says menu don't exits code 1866 (can't remember the exact message atm)
So I decided to flash other roms to make it work.
Stock Unbranded (Panamá) Gingerbread 2.3.6. All of the above mentioned. Same results.
Stock Branded Movistar (Chile) Gingerbread 2.3.6. All of the above. Same results.
Now I'm out of ideas and I hope anyone can help me. I'll really appreciate it.
:good:
Hi guys, I am officially screwed.
I had stock rom (unrooted) on my Note till yesterday. Suddenly it was just showing the GT N7000 screen and wont go forward even upon restart. Even the Samsung logo wouldn't appear on restart. So I went into recovery mode, installed PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel from SD card, and wiped data, cache and dalvik cache and restarted without any problem. (Ofcourse all my data was gone but no problem)
After restart the Network signal was good, Data was working (could send and receive whatsapp etc.) ,however when tried to make a call it displayed "Not registered on network error".
On pressing the power button the screen turns off but does not get locked, main page is shown as it on pressing the home key.
There is no power menu too. The device would just turn off completely on pressing power button to access the power menu (Menu with restart and other options).
I flashed with custom Paranoidandroid rom but it displayed no network signal, so I tried flashing stock rom again with ODIN but the above problems still persist. Also, strangely there was no setup screen on starting the phone (which has always come on flashing a rom).
Read some where about keystr file being missing. Checked the /efs/imei/keystr it all there with text as ON in it.
Please help. I have messed up this phone many a times but was always able to recover it thansk to xda threads. I am even taking a leave from office for today.
Check your IMEI. Does it start with 0049...? The symptoms you wrote are typical for a developer IMEI.

Depends...
Your IMEI isn't the original anymore (remove battery and you'll find a sticker with your original one). This happens sometimes - I never saw an explanation why and when - when you install a Custom Rom.
If you didn't backup your /efs-partition you can't get it back by yourself. There is a member who offers a solution (he connects remotely to your device/PC and restores the old number) for small money (see cvxcvx.pl).
Workarounds:
- Change your SIM Pin every time after a reboot (you can simply use your old pin as new pin again, this works). Then you'll have a working SIM and network connection.
- On a TW based ROM you'll have to use an android.policy.jar from a leaked ROM (XXLSC). I used this because it doesn't check the IMEI and so you do not have the restrictions like you wrote: no SIM Pin request, no menu, immediate Power shutdown. I used this with my Pristine Roms because I have this developer IMEI since a repair in Thailand...
- Switch back to GB, it doesn't have the IMEI check too.
My actual workaround: disabled SIM Pin and using my own build "Pristine CM10.1".

Thanks, I guess I'll just need to take it to service centre. Could you please tell me how to go back to Stock ROM and Kernel so that there are no counters or root that may make Samsung ppl not repair the phone.
I was able to get back Lock screen and Power menu using instructions to recover imei here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
with little modifications to it as I could not find original file.
However, my IMEI is still the fake one and still can't register to network.
Also the set up screen appeared on doing the above procedure.
Changing SIM Pin isn't helping in registering to network.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the help in advance. I just want to ask if anyone experience issues unlocking galaxy s3 mini gt-i1890L from telcel Mexico. When I put a different SIM and restarted thr phone. It only tells me "Network Lock". It doesn't show any fields to enter unlock codes. I factory reset in phone and kies as well as reload official samsung firmware and no luck. I tried entering codes to initiate unlocking but phone does not respond to any codes. I can only check imei and go tk service menu. Check the picture. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You said you tried entering codes to initiate unlocking (how many codes do you have) if you enter the wrong code too many times your sim will be blocked and you wont be able to use it and will have to get a code from the sim provider to unblock it.

Hi there,
What I meant when I tried to initiate the unlocking sequence, I dialed these numbers and nothing works. The phone doesn't respond to any of it. I pressed the dial icon but it just says "Not registered to network". For some reason when I insert a different SIM Card and restart the phone. It comes up to a screen saying "Network Lock" and that's it. It doesn't even allow you to enter unlock codes. All you can press is "Dismiss" Like what I showed in the picture. I don't know how to enter the unlock codes anymore since the phone will not respond to any of these service menu codes but it does respond to *#197328640#.
Method #1 Insert a Non accepted SIM card in your phone and power on. Once finished loading your phone will ask you to enter a code, enter the Unlock Code
Note: Non Accepted Simcard is any simcard not from the original provider
OR
Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #4 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press #7465625*638*# Once prompted for code, enter the 8 digit Unlock Code.
I tried these service codes as well and no luck
*#7465625# = Check the locks.
*7465625*638*Code# = Enables Network lock.
#7465625*638*Code# = Disables Network lock.
*7465625*782*Code# = Enables Subset lock.
#7465625*782*Code# = Disables Subset lock.
*7465625*77*Code# = Enables SP lock.
#7465625*77*Code# = Disables SP lock.
*7465625*27*Code# = Enables CP lock.
#7465625*27*Code# = Disables CP lock.
*7465625*746*Code# = Enables SIM lock.
#7465625*746*Code# = Disables SIM lock.

Yes, I tried both. I have the original Telcel SIM card and other SIM cards. The phone just doesn't respond to any of the service codes to initiate unlocking. Only message I got was "Network LOCK" and a picture of a padlock and a button that says "DISMISS"

I am not entirely sure, but it is probably the same case as my Galaxy Ace a few years ago. Unfortunately, Telcel adds an additional lock layer that is embedded in the ROM, so any effort does no good. What I did to unlock it, was download another firmware from Sammobile that was compatible from another carrier. You may choose that path, or flashing a custom ROM. Obviously, this implies you must have root permissions enabled on your mobile device.
more telcel galaxy s3 minis
I have the exact same problem with the Galaxy S3 mini from Telcel. Even at professional unlocking businesses this was a problem.
Their is just no option to enter unlock codes, neither does it respond to "Method 1-4 unlock codes"
After entering *#197328640# in the keypad the options are
[1] Debug Screen
[2] Version information
[3] common
After selecting [1] debug screen, there are 8 options
[1] BASIC INFORMATION
[2] MM INFORMATION
[3] RR INFORMATION
[4] NEIGHBOR CELL
[5] GPRS INFORMATION
[6] SIM INFORMATION
[7] HANDOVER
[8] PHONE CONTROL
Phone control has 7 options
[1] DRX CONTROL
[2] FAKE SERIAL CONTROL
[3] NAS CONTROL
[4] UE STATE CONTROL
[5] SIMULATION
[6] NETWORK LOCK
[7] NETWORK CONTROL
and network lock says Not Active.
I bought a cheap $20 phone make and receive calls but if their is away to unlock this thing that would be greatly appreciated.
I would rather avoid installing customs ROMS however i can root and unroot with VROOT. So if there is some .apk that needs to be modified or something that would be a better option. If anyone can help with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

I also got this info at a code unlocking site.
*Note regarding Samsung Android phones:
If your phone is locked to Telcel or Claro Mexico or Claro
Worldwide, before placing your order please try inserting
a non-accepted sim card into your phone and ensure you
receive a prompt to enter the unlock code.
If you do not, you may need to either root your phone or
change to the latest North American firmware prior to
placing an order as you will not be able to enter an
unlock code until the firmware is updated.
The phone originally came with jellybean 4.1 but was updated to 4.1.2. Dont know if that has anything to do with it
Hy Guys ! I am kinda new here so I'm not shure if this subject was aleready been reviewd or that I post in the right section so in any case sorry for the disturb, but if this subject has been overviewd please leve me a link where i can found it...
So i got a Samsung Galaxy i9300(S3) running on 4.3 Jellybean from wich was locked on the carrier "Vodafone RO" and I wanted to use my phone for "Orange RO" so I have Rooted my phone and installed "GalaxSimUnlock" but there said " NO UNLOCK METHOD AVALIBLE FOR THIS DEVICE" or something like that.... so I went to a local GSM Service where the guy said he can unlock my phone using a "PERMANENT ROOT METHOD" and a BOX for galaxy S3....
When I recoverd my phone the phone was rooted. had installed "Custom Recovery menu" and it was unlocked but running 4.1.1 Jellybean so I asked the guy if I could re-update to my 4.3 using Odin and he said Yes
So when I got home i have updated my phone to 4.3 Jellybean with "ODIN" and after it has rebooted the phone was not rooted anymore and it shows me in the notificaion center " EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" but full Signal bars, also when i booted up the phone, the phone did not asked me for the "CARRIER UNLOCK CODE"
and now when I inster a Vodafone RO SIM CARD wich is the phone provider it says "Emergency calls only" so how cand I make it work again....
THANK YOU!
Check your IMEI if is null or changed you could have EFS problem.
