wi-fi turns off by it's self - Motorola Atrix HD

Motorola Atrix HD. The wi-fi sometimes turns off by its self. When I try to toggle it back on some time it will. Other times it won't turn on and toggles it's self right back to off. I have searched google and forums and found this problem. Problem is the answers are for dropping wi-fi, not it turning off. Example, when you get too far from a wi-fi your wi-fi connection will drop but the wi-fi is still on. This isn't my problem. Mine is the wi-fi will turn off. With it off you can't even see any choice of wi-fi connections to try. If you drop a wi-fi connection and wi-fi is on you can still see other wi-fi connections. Any help will be appreciated.

Only thing I see on ROM is 8gb. That is under hardware info. I haven't changed anything so I suppose it is stock. If you need any more info. you will have to tell me where and how to find it.
Added info.
It may go a couple days without turning off and it may turn off several times in a day

You're on Stock AT&T JB. If you're rooted, use Titanium (or similar app) and backup everything then go and get MythTools and flash this firmware with it. If you're not rooted, MythTools will do that for you as well as unlocking the bootloader if you want to do that. If reflashing the stock rom and doing a factory reset doesn't fix this, you may actually need to unlock the bootloader to try some of the other fixes for wifi we've had to do in the past.

All this stuff, rooted, Titanium, flash etc.I know nothing about. For several days the wifi hasn't turned off till this afternoon. I couldn't get it back on. I shut the phone down and when I turned it back on I had wifi. Probably not fixed but if it doesn't happen too often and that will get it back on, that will do.

is there any fix for wifi in JB roms?

My problem is that I can turn on the wifi but it doesn't find any network.
I had the same problem with icecoldsandwich but it was fixed using wifix manger,I tried wifix manger in JB roms but it is not installing.
By the way I think it is regional issue
Any ideas how to fix it?
There is a setting where the wifi will disconnect on a weak signal. Be sure that is turned off and see if that helps.

I've tried it but didn't work, the phone doesn't find any network and I am sitting next to the router so I don't think it is signal problem
I know this is a silly answer, but have you made sure your back cover is on properly?
Even better, take it off, carefully clean the contacts then put it on making sure it seats properly.

I don't think it's hardware issue, because Wi-Fi is working on other roms.
Another thing when I remove the sim card the Wi-Fi works on the jb Roms.

Doesn't it work in the new JB ROM anyway?
It must be something to do with your sim/provider. I have been using WiFi since I installed this rom and the previous version. No problems at all.

Actually I have a problem with mine dropping WiFi all together. I know it is working because my husband's iPhone stays connected and it still works when mine has dropped. Lost 4 calls today because of that problem. Tried tinkering with the WiFi setting on the One between 2.5 ghz and 5 ghz and auto. Makes no difference. Connection lasts maybe 5 or 10 minutes then it disconnects. If you have a solution let me know.

Have you tried looking to see if your phone is actually saving the password? It is saved in the following location;
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
Open this file up using a file explorer with root capabilities. Is your network SSID and password in there?

Sorry, my response was directed towards the OP. Should have made that clearer.
Sometimes dropped connections with android phones comes from having your router set to 'auto' for channel selection. If yours is this setting, try changing it to a fixed channel. Use the app Wi-Fi Analyzer to find a clear channel.

Well I contacted HTC, and I did the steps ad posted above and so far no problem. Of course it will probably happen after I post this knock on wood. Didn't have to do what HTC said below since it works now but will definitely do it if the problem persists. I also uninstalled a battery widget because one of the posts said to try that also.
We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your HTC One and can certainly provide some assistance to help resolve the issue.
To start, we will need to check a setting on the device. From the Home screen, access Settings>Wi-Fi>Menu>Advanced. Make sure the DLNA Auto-IP is disabled. Also, I know you have also changed it prior but set the Wi-Fi frequency band to 2.4 GHz. We will need test the combination to see if there is any difference.
If needed, we will need to make sure there is not an issue with the phone trying to get through your network’s security. For this, we will first need to remove the network from the phone. Access Settings>Wi-Fi then tap and hold on the name of the network to select Forget Network. Once done, reboot the phone and temporarily remove the security from the network. It should be open with no password and the SSID being broadcast. This is only temporary so we can test the phone to see if the same thing continues with an unsecured network. Once this is tested, you can add the security back to the network.
We would also recommend testing the phone with other public networks to see if you still having issues with the connection.
Feel free to reply should you have any further questions, Christina. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 8 am to 1 am ET, 7 days a week.

Having the same issue with the wifi. Connection is erratic even if I am in the same room as the router/superhub. I went to the store today and they tested it there as well. They uninstalled some power saving apps and it seemed to work ok but at home same issues. Loosing connection when surfing and if I leave the room no connection at all.
Will have to get back to the store tomorrow to get it replaced.

Yea man...I remember you...haha. The One is bringing a lot of good people over from what I've been seeing.
As far as using an international ROM, yes I am....was using Trickdroid, but now I'm trying out AndroidRevolution 8.0...same issue. Next time I flash another Rom, I'll try the international setting instead of the ATT setting. Wouldn't I have to change the APN if I did that, or does that setting adjust something else?

Nah I didn't have to change anything. I get average 15-25 meg lte speed. A lot of guys were having the WiFi passwords reset on boot with the att package checked in aroma. From what I've seen the only difference with international & att is the signal icons. I had to switch because WiFi tether wasn't working under att.

ARHD 10.1 Help with constant data switching

Maybe someone can help me. Clean flashed to ARHD 10.1 a week ago and am having an issue with constantly dropping my data connections. My phone is pretty much constantly going from LTE to 4g to no data connection when not on WiFi. I'm on AT&T. Anything I can do? I'm not a pro at anything beyond basic Rom flashing. Thinking of just going back to stock. Thanks for any help!

I just flashed the newest version of ARHD (that's android revolution HD, for the person who asked) 10.2 and don't seem to be having the issue anymore. I'm not sure if it had something to do with only being able to select the international version during Aroma install on 10.1, or what was going on. Might have also been a combination of things. At any rate, i figured I'd post in here, as I'm trying to get my post count up, so I can post in forums actually dedicated to the Roms. Cheers, everyone! :good:

Roam Control 2.9.2 has been released!!! 11-28-2013 UPDATE

EDIT: 2.9.2 is now available which should fix roam control not working after the MJA update.
There is a brief delay before it roams so give it a change to do its thing.
MrGreg has released Roam Control 2.9.1 which adds support for our Galaxy S4.
What does this mean?
for those of you who have bad data or coverage you can pair this up with an appropriate PRL and get better voice / data coverage!
Here is a LINK to the website where you can get the app.
Please be sure to click HERE and find a thread to thank MrGreg in as he is usually inactive on XDA.
Enjoy!

Thank you SO much for this update. You made my freakn day!! Verizon has full bars LTE on my block, where as Sprint literally doesn't have any service what so ever, I roam on Verizon 95% of the time (but I have an AirRave at the house, but before the AirRave that is what would happen!). But also even 5-10 minutes outside of my block I get horrible service. I bought Roam Control on my GS3 and now I get to use it on my GS4 too, thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
