[Q] Stock 4.4.2 change sounds? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to change the sounds when I tap on the screen?
For example the sound when you enter your PIN.

I found it out myself. The sounds I was searching for are located in the system/media folder.
They use the .ogg format.

you just can switch Lock.ogg/TW_Unlock_Glass.ogg file located system/media/audio/ui folder
and reboot
edit. it's case sensitive!!
The name of the files are case sensitive, when you want to overwrite the original file it should follow the same. for example if you copy unlock.ogg it doesn't work it should be Unlock.ogg with capital U. give it a try

[Q] build.prop question

What command is to set default messaging tone in build.prop if anybody knows?
Thank you in advance
You can't set a ringtone on build.prop. If you can't set on your phone, try an app to do.
e.g. market.android.com/details?id=com.herman.ringtone&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5oZXJtYW4ucmluZ3RvbmUiXQ.
You can choose from your music files and trim it with this app..
you did not understand me, i know how to set message tone, i just want to make default it before i even install my rom in build.prop, like it is for notification
e.g.
ro.config.notification_sound=Notification.ogg
That's what you can pre-define in build.prop
Code:
ro.config.ringtone=ringtone.ogg
ro.config.notification_sound=notification.ogg
ro.config.alarm_alert=alarm.ogg
ro.config.cal_notification=missedcall.ogg
ro.config.msg_notification=sms.ogg
Instead of OGG files you can also use MP3 - of course the file you define has to exist in the corresponding sub directories under /media
B.Jay that is what i was looking for, thank you button pressed

Trying to change UI sounds

I'm trying to change the UI sounds like the touch sounds and the lock/unlock. I've replaced them in system/media/audio/ui but they aren't changing. Any ideas why they won't change? Thanks.

Make sure they are properly named and have proper permissions. I have changed many sound on my phone also make sure they are .ogg format. Also you should rename the original file to add .bak incase you want to revert back, just drop the added extension.
Here's the site to convert to .ogg

Yeah even when I do all that it doesn't work.

Ah. Looks like I'm replacing the wrong sounds. Unlock isn't the unlock sound. Silly me.

[Q] z1 sounds

Hello guys
Does anyone know how to change the system sounds ?( For example when i get the notification for low battery )
If you are rooted, use root browser and go to system/media/audio/ui and replace default sounds with desired sounds (must be.ogg) with same name. E.G. If you want to change lock sound, first rename the sound file which you want as 'lock' and replace it in ui folder's lock named file and change permission to rw-r-r.
Please take backup of ui folder before you replace any files. So that in future if you need, you can revert to stock sounds.

Ringtone Folder Location

I've got some ringtones & notification tones I want to put on my Note 5 from my Note 4, but can't seem to find the right folder. I tried the Ringtone folder, but it doesn't show up on the list when I try to assign them. Can anyone give me the correct location for it/them?

If you are rooted; system / media / audio / ringtones. If you are not rooted use another file explorer besides the stock one and use it to navigate to your regular ringtone folder and select it that way.
