Trying to change UI sounds - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I'm trying to change the UI sounds like the touch sounds and the lock/unlock. I've replaced them in system/media/audio/ui but they aren't changing. Any ideas why they won't change? Thanks.

Make sure they are properly named and have proper permissions. I have changed many sound on my phone also make sure they are .ogg format. Also you should rename the original file to add .bak incase you want to revert back, just drop the added extension.
Here's the site to convert to .ogg

Yeah even when I do all that it doesn't work.

Ah. Looks like I'm replacing the wrong sounds. Unlock isn't the unlock sound. Silly me.

Boot Animation Sounds on Non-Rooted 2.1

I've done some searching for trying to add sounds to the boot animations, and found something about adding a boot.mp3 in the animation zip or something like that (not sure if it was for root only), which didn't seem to work for me. Is this possible without root, and if so how? Thanks, and hope this is posted in the right section.
yep, just make a sound file, name it boot.mp3 and throw it into the zip folder.
I've tried that on a non-rooted 2.1 eris, the boot animation works but the boot.mp3 that i added wouldn't play. Not sure why, tried some other things also with no luck.
I've also tried just throwing a boot.mp3 into a rooted 2.1 phone's boot animation, and it seems the same there too, the boot animation loads but the sound doesn't. Does anyone have a boot animation with sound working on a 2.1 phone? Looks like they done away with the sound from the default boot when switching from 1.5 to 2.1... looked like in 1.5 it worked off a bootscreen folder and xml file etc.. and 2.1 with the bootanimation.zip with a different setup etc..
From what I know, the sound will not work unless the desc tells it to play the sound... was there sound with the original bootanimation? If there was, you might try pushing the original files back and then trying... maybe in pushing the animation .zip, you overwrote the desc that told the phone to play the sound.. from what I have seen, the bootanimations that play sound have script in the desc file that tell it to play the sound....

the desc.txt i've seen don't have anything telling it to play the boot mp3 just the size, framerate, and folders... you wouldn't happen to know what needs added in into the desc txt would you? Don't think i've seen any boot animations with sound to check the desc. txt, mostly the ones i've seen with sound are based on the xml file type.

You are right, I just checked and it was a .xml file... what does yours use? a desc?

Yeah mine is a desc. and it seems the ones which use the xml won't work with 2.1.
did yours originally make sound?
Not after upgrading to 2.1.
I see the problem... sorry.. I am at a loss...
np, thanks for trying.
Can someone try pushing their boot sound to /data/local and name the file android_audio.mp3 and see if it plays then?

you just can switch Lock.ogg/TW_Unlock_Glass.ogg file located system/media/audio/ui folder
and reboot
edit. it's case sensitive!!
The name of the files are case sensitive, when you want to overwrite the original file it should follow the same. for example if you copy unlock.ogg it doesn't work it should be Unlock.ogg with capital U. give it a try

[Q] Boot Animation Has No Sound

I'm having a problem getting my OG Droid to play an included boot sound with a new boot animation.
I'm running ChevyNo1's Simply Stunning 5.5 (Android 2.3.5) and it gladly accepts the new bootanimation.zip when I place it in /system/media
There is a Bionic.ogg that comes with this boot animation and according to the "desc.txt" inside the bootanimation.zip it says the following:
"sounds will be loaded from /system/media"
So I placed Bionic.ogg inside /system/media like the boot animation's own script file told me to. When I reboot my phone, I don't get the sound. My volume setting is cranked up all the way too.
I have even gone so far as to change permissions on bootanimation.zip and Bionic.ogg to rwxrwxrwx but to no avail.
I'm not sure what else I can do. Any thoughts?
Edit:
I found more info at this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029099
Unfortunately those instructions do not seem to work. I did everything as I was told in those instructions too. Can the Droid even do boot audio? I swear it could a long time ago when I was stock.
Try and look in build.prop for ro.config.play.bootsound and change the value to 1 if it isn't already.

Sadly, this didn't work. My build.prop did not include this line in the first place.
Here's a screenshot of the build.prop I placed into /system that includes highlighting where I placed ro.config.play.bootsound=1
Is there a different place in the build.prop that this parameter should be entered?

Nope, anything in build.prop will be run, regardless of where it is, it shouldn't have an issue. If you really want to try it, then you can place it at the complete top of build.prop and see.

I moved the line to the very top of build.prop and still nothing. I guess I'll just have to go without sound. It was worth a shot. Seems like something else just keeps overriding it.
If you look in /system/bin, you will find the bootanimation binary. The binary on our Droids doesn't support sound. Somewhere floating around though is a bootanimation binary that does. I originally found it on androidforums.net but unfortunately can't find the post anymore. Liquid aGirl had it posted somewhere.

Silent camera shutter. Its still not silent??

Hi guys!
First off sorry for making a new thread about this. I read 3 or 4 on the subject but Im still having no luck.
I dont want to have to mute the volume everytime I want to take a photo
so I prefer changing it in the system.
My model is a Korean Note so that "could" be why I cant diable the shutter sound.
My phone is rooted and in Astro file manager, I went into the appropriate location and added the extension .off, .bak, .backup I tried all three when I tredi to rename the Shutter_01.ogg, and it still doesnt work
Any ideas? Thanks!!!
Try renaming the "ui" directory. If that works, then you'll know it's one of the other OGG files in there. Then if that works, look for something camera-related. I think different ROMs use different sound files.

Which file explorer are you using? Even though your Note is rooted, the file explorer you use still has to run as root (e.g. Root Explorer).
I think in my ui directory, I have a few sound files beginning with "camera". You could try renaming those one at a time (if you have them).
delete Shutter_01.ogg at system/media/audio/ui
edit: sorry didnt read all your post and if u deleted that file it shouldnt give any sound while taking photo, strange :/

Disable camera shutter sound on LOLLIPOP

hi guys,
big problem:
the camera "shutter sound menu" is not shown on LOLLIPOP!!! i found this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795566
but nothing of this tips will work (no feature.xml, no others.xml AND NO ´/system/csc/´ folder exists. deleting the OGG files in the media folder will also not work). i think this will work on KK only. so i open a new thread for a lollipop-solution.
does a mod exist to enable the camera shutter sound menu ??? I HATE THE CAMERA-SOUNDS (click,click,click,click,click..... and all eyes on you); TERRIBLE!
regards,
chris

nobody an idea????
You can just rename or delete the shutter sound inside system/media.
no way! after restarting the cam-app the files will be replaced.

Thats not true, I've done it. The system cant create a new audio file. Use root explore and rename all the camera click sounds in the system media folder. It really is that easy.

sorry, it doesn´t work. i deleted the files with root-explorer, but the sounds are not silent.
i toke a look into the "samsungcamera3.apk". the sounds are stored in this apk-paket. i think that´s the problem.
chris
This was what I was referring to but you can try wanam xposed for lolipop it has the option to remove the click sound. Requires xposed framework also.
