Just wondering if the digitizer of the phone extended into the black area on the face of the phone where the HTC logo is, if so, would it be possible to produce a screen protector with button outlines on it that would go over this black area and mod the software so that it detected touch in those areas. The screen protector could have two buttons printed on it and the same button layout as the HTC one. Any screen protectors or mods like this?, possible in the future?, thanks

I had a scratch on my screen so I've bought a new one. I'm talking about touch screen only. Nobody wanted to help me so I decided to replace it on my own. I have removed the damaged one and replaced it with the new one. The phone is working but it doesn't respond to the touch. When I was replacing the screen I accidentally bended the metal plate back so now the touch screen doesn't stick to the main screen. I think that it doesn't matter because the most important thing is to connect the screen not to stick to the main screen. please help me with solvin' problem.
wow, you just went for it yourself? cool.
ok, would it be possible for you to post some pictures so we can see what you mean by the bended metal?
The screen and touch screen are typically to separate entities, the touch screen beign a 'film' like item that sticks to the top of the screen. You may purchase them as one unit or you may not, compare your old screen with the new one, are they IDENTICAL in every way? especially are they the same thickness and do they have the same number of connectors.
Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out...
now, back to lurking.
i'll post some pictures in 3days time. I don't have a camera.the touch screen is the same and it should've worked.
OK, my tilt is under a month old and have two concerns regarding the screen. When using the slider, at the very top of the fully opened "motion" the screen ripples in the center as if it is being compressed with a finger. It is about half and inch in diameter and repeats if I slide the screen at the top of its fully opened position. Is this normal? It is visible under my solid blue background.
Secondly, under certain lights there is a rainbow effect when the screen is off. This is only noticeable if I have it under the light at specific angles. If I push my finger on the screen it moves as if the two layers of the touch screen are in constant contact with each other and in turn when I push on it, I can manipulate this location. This is visible under the center most part of the screen. I am using the original screen protector provided by ATT.
Just wondering if this is normal, if not, I'm tempted to return it and get a new one under the 30-day policy.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone please?
Ive never noticed anything like that. It sounds to me that there is some space between a few layers of plastic and that is causing diffraction of light which you see as the rainbow affect. If you have the option of replacing it with a new one I would. I mean if I buy something I want it to be in mint condition when I pay for it, not damaged.
I need your help .I want to replace touch screen on my diamond , but I cannot find anywhere any manual how to remove LCD and touch screen. I have buy from ebay touch screen .Thanks for any help
On the net you can find service manuals for the Diamond. On YouTube you can find clips showing how to dismantle it.
BEWARE, it is not a job for the inexperienced. I have replaced displays and digitizers on several phones before but failed doing it on the Diamond.
I think the digitizer and display are glued to the frame.
I find service manual and how to dismantle it. But everything stop to lcd and touch screen .thanks
For sure don't try to do it yourself unless you really know what your doing
best bet is send it to HTC in the US its a 100 Fix.
I've gone through 2 ebay touch screens with no luck installing them when my screen cracked, and eventually just sent it out after too many failed attempts.
their is an extra screen mounted onto the digitizer that you can't get on the ebay digitizers
basically from the outside in,
Ebay:
Glass Screen/digitizer: touch screen
Actual Assembly
Glass Screen/digitizer: Touch screen: a 3rd fat screen mounted onto the touch screen
I had buy from ebay touch screen
I only want to replace my screen and keep the digitizer, is this possible?
So keep the digitizer and third screen an d replace the cracked lcd screen
Yes it's possible .Try with this manual :

These manuals are not enough for replacing the screen only. The last picture is with the frame still on it.
I tryed tonight and i can say that i'm the first person in the world that only replaced a HTC Diamond screen! I wil post a full report soon.
This is very odd...
My Diamond display have always been hard to touch in the edges of the display, I always needed to use the stylus and press quite hard for it to register a touch. The middle always needed just a slight touch.
Now I've just changed the screen protector and suddenly it's the middle of the display that requires me to press hard on the screen and the edges just need very little pressure.
Any ideas what happened? Did I damage something, I think this is very weird how a new screen protector (exactly the same brand) can change the display behavior this way...
maybe new screen protector is a little fatter
i have original protector and display have always been hard to touch in the edges of the display
I have a Galaxy Captivate from a friend who has dropped it and shattered the screen. The bottom 4 touch buttons light up when the phone is powered on, he claims that there was a very faint image on the screen but so far it hasn't displayed anything for me.
Is it likely that a touchscreen + digitizer can fix this, or is it likely that something else is wrong with the phone? The touch buttons lead me to believe that I may be able to replace the screen + digitizer and have it work again =/
Opinions?
