I've played videos on the Sony Movies app and also on the MX Player Pro app.
After comparisons, I've realised that X-Reality doesn't work on MX player pro. (Please see screenshots below)
At first I thought Sony made it in a way where it only worked with their apps but no, it works on YouTube, pocket casts and other video playing apps.
Is there a way I can make it work with MX player pro?

gosh I tought it was supposed to work system wide... does it mean that for pics it is not applied if I use quickpic instead of sony album? I have deleted all dony apps, actually (walkman, movie, album, calendar, sociallife)

Who knows how to play avi or divx movie with AC3-sound on your xperia?
Is there a codec or a player wich supports both codecs?
I tried to play it with coreplayer but that didnt work.

No, coreplayer does not have hardware acceleration.
You should probably just transcode the file.

There's a version of Coreplayer ripped from an Acer phone going around that supposedly has 3D acceleration. Don't know if it works on the X1 though, as we've been screwed generally on the "acceleration only works on certain Microsoft and SE apps" issue
I have that version .. it does not have hardware acceleration for owr almighty xperia

I think you are the first person from who i heard that the music player of android is better than the iphone

So I have a few digital copies of BD videos and I am looking for a widget that will show the videos I have stored, basically along the lines of the YouTube widget. I would like to flip through them select a movie and have it played back on the stock player. All digital copies are wmv format and play fine via the stock player. Please see attached picture of what the YouTube widget looks like.

mizuu movies has the widget you're looking for. its in the play store for $.99. Scrapes the data and gives cover and movie info like Plex and XBMC. There's a free version with ads as well.
Just what I was looking for except that one of my movies is not being displayed, it comes up with a different movie description and cover art but at least it plays it back properly so I guess no big deal

You can go in and edit to scrape the right movie as well. I had to do that a couple times.

I did that but the dev got back to me and all I had to was rename the file and it's showing up properly

I think this application is better than metrotube...and free..
I recently jumped ship and have gone from iPhone 4S to Xperia Z1. One thing I cannot get used to is that all apps that can play media seems to require separate controls. On the iPhone everything making sound used the same play, pause, next controls etc.
This image illustrates what I mean. The audiobook player, the built in walkman, wimp (streamed music) and google play player all have separate widgets and controls. Is it possible to get only one that works on what ever app is currently playing media?

I usually get rid of all but one audio player and then just use the controls for that. I usually use google play music, but the way they store on device music is kind of frustrating so I'm open to other options as well. I guess just play with them and see which one you like best and then stick with that one. If you have multiple streaming services, this might not be an option and you'll just have to always exit whichever one(s) you're not using so that only one comes up in the notification drawer. That's my advice.
