Hands free activation keeps popping up - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Everytime my phone boots up the phone wants to do a hands free activation.
I tried following this tread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997938
But the files mentioned there are not the same as the One M8.
Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening because it starts up activates my phone again and the restarts all over again.

I was able to fix it by flashing the BadSeed custom rom.

Freeze vDM Client with titanium backup and you should be good to go...

That happened to me the first few times I booted up.
How many times have you booted up your phone?
How long as it been since you activated it?

I rebooted several times since I started setting the activation screen and it but reboot itself each time. Since 2 days ago I installed a custom Rom and the problem has not happened since.

phone vibrates even when switched off! - please help

ok so i got my htc one a couple of days ago and it sees to have a serious problem!
Basically the phone goes through stages of random vibrating every few mins to full on constant vibrating like there is a fan or motor buzzing in there. It even does it if the phone is switched off! Ive just had an episode of it vibrating no stop for 10 mins, didnt make a difference when i switched it off or when i factory reset it!
It seems to overheat or something and only stopped doing it after i had just left it for a while. I have tried to speak with htc about it but they were useless and had no suggestions what soever.
I really need some help here, i bought the phone privately and to all intense purposes it seemed like brand new

SO you CAN NOT exchange the phone?
if not... root your phone and flash different rom that should resolve problem...at least give it a try!

No cant exchange it, only option i might have if i cant get the problem ressolved on here would be to send it to htc for repair but can take up to 2 weeks.
when i got the phone it was still on 4.1 and told me update available to 4.2 so i did that. Thats all i have done , apart from unlocking it from 02 using a code.
its almost like on a computer when its being worked hard etc that you here the fan cut in, thats what it seems like except it sounds like the buzz you get when you first start the phone. sometimes it does this just once every few mins or so, other times it will start doing it and not stop...even when switched off.....everything else on the phone seems to work fine

Did the device get wet at some point? Sounds like a hardware problem if a factory reset didn't solve the problem.
There's a slight chance it could be a real bad app or an issue with the rom. Maybe running a stock RUU for your device if you can find it might help.
Pretty sure it hasent got wet .
Would be happy to put stock Rom back on it but not sure how I go about reflashing it .
Don't know if this normal or not but when I did a factory reset I thought the device would be wiped completely, all my pictures and videos etc however when I set it back up again I found some videos on there still that I had downloaded to the phone off the net.
Maybe it's not wiping itself correctly either?

Resetting the device should wipe everything and bring it to the same condition as new.
Go to settings>>Backup & Reset>>Reset phone>>now check "Erase all data", then tap "OK".
If that doesn't work, try to do a factory reset from the bootloader.

Factory reset will wipe the device but leave the contents of the sdcard untouched which explains why your vids are still there
Appreciate the help guys, thankyou
So, is there any benifit to wiping the device completely over and above what I've done allready?
Today the phone has just done the odd sudden vibration as if you were just booting up, around 5 times in total, nowhere near as bad as last night, don't know why that would be.
Would it be possible to reflash standard firmware?
Is so how would I do it. Phone is completley standard and was in 4.1 prior to the ota update to 4.2, could 4.2 be the problem?

IC, but you do have the option to erase the sdcard (storage) from the reset phone menu in settings.

I'd try it. You can back up your pics and music on your PC via HTC Sync first.
Ok so I have tried it but no joy
Still getting the random buzzing/vibration for no apparent reason.
Could it be a bug with the update to 4.2.2?
Can I go back to 4.1?
I'm at my witts end with this now

Don't think it's a bug with 4.2.2 but a hardware issue.
Couple of other things to try ; download "CID Getter" from the play store, run it and find out your device's CID number. Now search on Google or xda for the RUU for your device's CID number. Download the RUU.exe to your pc, connect your phone to the pc and run the RUU.exe. This will bring the phone back to stock 4.1..
Or you can unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Step by step instructions can be found on xda
Sorry, don't know of any easy solutions.

thanks for sticking with me on this :good:
I have just followed a a video on here on how to unlock the bootloader and s-off and root - so now good to go
not sure how i put a new firmware on here now though..going to have to do a bit more reading....
i think to start with ill try downloading standard htc 4.1 rom when i can figure out which one it is and how i put it on and then go from there.
ok so just to update this....
last night i have tried the standard google edition rom on my phone and for the first few hours all seemed fine untill 4am this morning when i was woked by the phone doing its random vibrating thing...it was just sat by the side of my bed on charge
Can only think it must be a hardware issue now...but still dont know what or what is triggering it

You tried everything so it's has to be a hardware issue. Maybe the vibration starts when the device gets warm. Sorry we couldn't fix it.

My HTC one has been doing the same thing. Vibrating randomly even when powered down. Brought it back to Sprint and had them order me a new phone. The only way to stop it from vibrating when powered down was to bang it on a hard surface, then it would stop. Crazy!
Vibrating non stop
My HTC One had been vibrating cotinuously too. I kept slapping the upper part of the phone to stop it from vibrating. However, this worked for the initial few days only. Later, it continued to vibrate continuously without stopping at all ! In the night I left the phone in the other room while it was still vibrating and the next morning the phone wouldn't charge at all! Now the phone is not booting/ charging. It is dead! Any leads?
EDIT: I slapped the upper part again, it suddenly woke up from the dead! It is charging now, the LED is red too!! But it is still continuously vibrating. I have left it to charge as of now, but please help with this vibrating problem. Any ideas?
I've had the same issue with my M7 today.
There were no software updates or any new apps lately.
It all emerged when i was pressing the home button (to exit from some app) and at the same time an incomming call started.
I have tried:
switching it off - did not help
Changing volume setting silent\vibe\sound a couple of times - no effect
Soft reset - no help
Hard reset - no help
Slapping with upper side of the phone against my had - helped for some time, the it started again
Seems like hardware issue.
Currently working solution for me:
Switch off the option "Vibrate on keypress" in Settings ==> Sound & notification
UPD: had to turn off all the vibrations
So far so good. Apparently there is some issue with vibe motor, and it just does not stop. I assume that by disabling that option it is not getting started and thus no constant vibe follows.
UPD 2 Fixed:
Issue reoccurred on hitting the device against my palm.
Had to disassemble it, there are a couple of instructions on youtube, i used plastic cards.
Motor was spinning even with a switched off device. Had to unplug and plug the motor a couple of times and it helped.
Turned on all vibrations in settings, no issues so far.
Hope that helps.

Random reboots

My phone has been randomly rebooting about once every two days. I'm completely stock, not rooted. In the middle of the night last night while it was plugged in it rebooted about 4 times in a row, so I shut it off then restarted it in the morning. It's been doing fine so far today. I can't figure out how to reliably reproduce the reboots so I don't know how to go about testing whatever is causing it. It doesn't seem to be caused by any actions I perform (it's happened while I'm using the phone as well as while it's completely idle) Any suggestions? I know there's not much useful info to go off of here...
I keep sending the crash reports to HTC but I don't know what to look for in them. Anybody know how to interpret the crash logs?
Had one this morning. Rooted, but no changes.
And it just happened again. Phone was just sitting there with the screen off... I tried to copy and paste the error log but it wouldn't let me select all the text. The only app I have running in the background usually is Twilight. I'm going to try uninstalling that and seeing if it helps. The problem is the reboots happen randomly so I can't really tell if anything I change actually has an effect! Yarggghhh.
EDIT: Managed to get the error log here: http://pastebin.com/Xynv9qMP
Tried rebooting into Safe Mode, then a factory reset. Neither worked so I exchanged the device at a Sprint store. Hope this one works better!

Freezing and bootloops.

Anybody else having these problems? 2nd day to have it and it would freeze up and bootloop. At one point it was off for 2-3 hours and I couldn't get to fastboot. Finally I got it to factory reset twice and its doing fine for now. Unfortunately I'm on shift for 24 hours or I'd make Verizon give me a new one.

Could it be some app that you installed? Haven't had any problems myself with it.
Have you switched from dalvik to art?
I've had zero issues with bootloops so far.
Haven't switched to art and I doubt any nonroot app would cause bootloops. Who knows.

No issues so far here
none here
Had one this morning. Phone froze during a phone call, and then got stuck at the boot screen before the animation. Rebooted it by holding the volume and power button and it's worked since.
No problems here, have played games for several hours straight with no issues and have been playing with it all day.
Mine was solid for about 4 hours and its starting back up again. Maybe I have a lemon.

sounds like a defective unit or something.
i'd do a wipe, dont install any apps, see if it works fine or not. if it does, probably an app issiue. if you are getting problems even after the reset, its the phone.
Same issue here. Kept randomly rebooting, but only occasionally. Did a few factory resets, installing only essential apps each time thinking it was one of my apps that didn't play nice with Turbo (even though they played just fine with my Razr Maxx and Galaxy S5) to no avail. Last night, did a factory reset, didn't install any apps (nor did I update any of the pre-installed ones) and this morning, endless bootloop. I can't get it to stop. I'm really starting to hate this startup sound. LOL!
My phone locks up occasionally. Always restarts itself. I'm not sure what has been causing my phone to lock up but I haven't been able to pinpoint an action that is specifically creating the issue.
Sent from my XT1254
So I couldn't figure out a way to just power it down (all the usual button combinations just kept rebooting it, which then continued the bootloop) so I just figured I'd let it bootloop until the battery ran out. After about 3 hours of bootlooping, it just finally booted. I didn't touch anything. Weird. Maybe it's like a 4 year old temper tantrum, just let them get it out of their system and all will be better in a couple hours. Hahaha!
I have a phone that it's going this as well. I can get into recovery and reset but that didn't work. If I try to wipe cache the phone reboots and freezes which seems abnormal. I never had a phone reboot after wiping cache. I loaded the phone into fastboot and using RSD Lite I flashed the original software into the phone to no help. I did notice though that in the fastboot option that my baseband is blank. Might just be a bad device.? Does anyone know where I can find stock firmware 21.44 (that has the VoLTE option)?

With four turbos there seems to be more of a user error than system. you either disabled a needed apk, installed an apk that doesn't play nice, or you took an ota and havent completed an FDR. Its recommended and has been posted on here multiple times throughout this site/forum that always, always do a FDR with an update.

I'm not running any additional apks at this point and haven't since the second replacement device. Apparently, I just have good luck with this phone, that I now despise, and wish I could get rid of. I followed all the disable guides for what was safe, and I'm not sure what an FDR is, but if you tell me I'll give it a shot. Last replacement came updated as well. At this point this current model doesn't even receive phone calls, because it just doesn't work correctly.

[Q] Noticing random resets

On 2 separate occasions today I found myself looking down at my Nexus 6 to find it powering up.
Is anyone else noticing random resets? I have rooted, unlocked bootloader and removed encryption on mine.
I get this a ton of times. I'll take care the phone out of my pocket and screen is black. I'll hit the power button and the device is dead. Then I'll hold the power button until it restarts. This happens at least 2-3 times a day its very annoying

Mines from moto
I'm leaning towards this not being a software issue but a hardware issue. I've went ahead and opened a case with Motorola and they are sending me out a replacement phone. Hopefully this will fix this issue going forward.
It happens to me about once a day. I cannot pinpoint the cause.
It's happened to me twice in 8 days.
has happened to me every day since i bought it (wed 26th) bought from bell store in Canada (blue 32gb)
It's happening to me too. Got mine from AT&T. Mine randomly cuts off. Not rooted or anything.

I said before on other threads before, out of 3 nexus I bought from GPS one of them rebooted twice the first day, and the second day was unusable, rebooted every 5 mins. For me it was a hardware problem, i flashed factory image, factory reset, everything and nothing, called google, they send me the replacement, and never seen a random reboot on it.

[Q] My phone just bricked while trying to install an app

I am using stock ATT 4.4.4 2013 Moto X. Never tried to root or anything.
Today it just crashed while installing a large app (a VR app for cardboard). While the app was installing, I tried to updated GMaps, maybe bad idea, because then the phone froze. I saw the download blinker still flash but time did not change, everything was non responsive.
I powered down, then tried powering up. Goes to black screen right after moto logo.
I tried going into recovery, it says "No command". Tried factory option, goes into black screen.
I tried contacting motorola as well in live chat. He froze on me too, just stopped replying to me.
Any ideas?
I was having weird reboot issues with my phone for the last couple of weeks. It would freeze and reboot itself, several times a day, without any predictable pattern. I was thinking it might be a warranty issue.
I found on the Motorola website how to clear the system cache. I followed the directions and it took a good 20 minutes and then rebooted and honestly I haven't had any problems since then.
Based on my experience, I would recommend you try that. It really seemed to address my issues.
Good luck!
Edit: scratch that. My phone just froze and rebooted again as I was signing up for the Starbucks app. Guess I'll contact support later today.
