hey....this may be your case...my se3ttings under update was set to auto download when push was avail. and it would let me know until i installed or dismisssed. after dismissing, it would come back up after a bit or after reboot. to fix this you have to delete the update it downloaded and is storing in cache. that would remove the flag that it is holding an update and hence stop the notification. to stop it completely, change the setting under updates to uodate manually only. hope this helps.

Bump. I don't want to update but this notification is aggravating. I do not have auto update turned on.

Not sure if this will work with our phones and I can't try it since I'm not on a stock Rom but it might work for u guys. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478747 make sure u reboot when u finished and if u still have the system update then check if the changes saved or if they reverted back to normal. Also make sure u remove the ota file if u downloaded it.

I know this thread is from 2014, but I searched and found this one earlier this week. I have found a solution for this problem today.
Go to Settings => Applications
Right click on the 3 dots
In this menu click on "System View"
Now you will also see the system apps in the list
Click on Updater => Storage => Clear data
Go back to the list of apps
Click Config Updater => Storage => Clear data
Go back to the list of apps
Click Download Management => Storage => Clear data
The message for the system update will be gone.

Need ur help to do these things

Brothers,
Need ur help to enable power save for wifi ( hence running wifi make battery drain), also how i can stop automatic update service, each time i uninstall the new market its reinstalled again !! I hate it its so bad, also it take a lot of space of device memory.
with thx
Yea, it automatically updates the market and other google apps. WE can stop app form automatically updating by going to My apps and then choose a app and then deselecting the option Allow Automatic Updates --it can be done while installin apps too-- in description or similar. You can try it for market too. But, I don't think we can stop google from updating its system app.

The option allow automatic upgrading is available while installing an app from market.
Go to My Apps> Select a app> Uncheck Allow automatic updates.
I have attached images files if you want to see. Sorry for the zip file didn't have time to post image here.
It is good if you don't want other app to update automatically. Also, I searched for market but it is not there, think the OS manages system apps upgrade. You can search for if you want --may be you will find it.
All the best
Market app will install the update automaticly, no matter how many times you downgrade this app.
Maybe there is way to that, but i don't know how.
For other app, you can open the market app, then press menu button and select My Apps. Choose any apps that you don't want to automatic update, then uncheck the Allow Automatic Updating option.
Hope it help you out.

[Help] Clear the "New system update available" Notification

Hi,
I have a notification saying "10.1.A.1.434 New system update available". How to remove this from my notification area?
Its there for some days now. I tried tapping on it to open the system update app, clear, swipe it left & right, tried connecting to PC suite, tried rebooting. And the notification still remains. Please advise. My phone have a unlocked bootloader and is rooted
How about clicking on the "clear" button? or swiping that notification to the left/right?

Android application package file (APK) is the file format used to distribute and install application software and middleware onto Google's Android operating system.
Removing it will make the notification update disappear and the software update below about phone will be gone as well.
1) Go download Titanium Backup
2) Go into the app, scroll down till you find "UpdateCenter.apk"
3) Backup the app, and then remove it.
4) Reboot your phone.

Thanks, that did the trick... Does this affect my other apps from play store. Like, Wont they update themselves (manually/automatically)?
Actually, you can remove it by opening the notification/status bar ( slide from top to bottom ), then open app info and force stop.
The notification will not appear again until the next reboot. You just have to do it once after every reboot.

thats the playstore, i dont think they are related.
For anyone who is interested, the service to stop, freeze, or remove is Google Services Framework.
I just did it - go to Settings / Apps / All and scroll down to Update Center. Remove the Show notifications tick and confirm. That's it!
Just freeze 'System update' from titanium backup (or similar apps).
This is the only %100 solution.
Is it safe to uninstall Software update app, guys? I have only basic Titanium Backup on my rooted Z, so there is no freeze option for me. I've removed some of Sony bloatwear (What's New etc.), and lately there is notification about available updates after every reboot. Force stop solves the issue temporarily, and Show_notification box is uncheckable. In my view, this app shouldn't have any major purpose left, since OTA updates are archived for us... Cheers.

[Q] How to stop "System Update Downloaded"

Hello,
I've the following notification:
System updated downloaded
Android 5.1.1 System Update
My phone is rooted.
What's the best way to get rid of this notification, and prevent any future OTA updates on my rooted Nexus 6 phone?
Thank you!
Keep it rooted... It won't update if it's rooted.
To get rid of the notifications, either use titanium backup to remove the update app or just go ahead and flash you a nice custom ROM.
Thank you for your reply.
However, I think the update APP is Google Play Services, and I didn't want to delete Google Play Services APP.
Anyway, I'd tapped on System Update Downloaded till it shown Google Play Services.
Then, I'd pressed on the cog icon, and had disabled Show Notifications setting.
The notify had disappeared right away.
Then, I'd deleted the downloaded OTA (100MB) file from /cache

Where's the System Update Downloaded at? I'm having the same issue and since I can't find a way to flash a Z28E zip on my phone with Twrp I'd rather just stop update notification
I am on a custom ROM but still got the update message. No .apk to delete as in the note 4?

Deleted stock Message.apk help needed to restore it.

> Hello mods & xda members.
> My device is Samsung note 5 SM-N920G
> I wanted to try a new version of message app from apkmirrors & usually played around with other apps with no issues except Message app till today. So copied the new apk to PRIV-APP, MESSAGE COMMON FOLDER but when I restated my device I'm missing the message app itself & when I checked in the System, priv app folder I can see the app but when I check the status of app it says INSTALLED; NULL(0) & can't install either... As it conflicts with the existing app so clearly older version app framework has residues & non compatible for newer version & due to this I'm not able to get back to stock message app.?
>Fixes i tried are to restore the stock through Odin but yet not able to fix the issue. So wiped system & cache through twrp & again reflashed stock through Odin yet same issues.
Checked everywhere on net & not able to find any fix.
I do know how to fix it but currently I would like to skip backing huge amounts of data to my pc.
I can use other messaging app & all messages are there but default messaging app is missing.
>I think I might have corrupt framework due to beta message app...?
Can any provide me a zip file if message app has to reinstalled through some other framework or api please help...!
Or suggest any fix... Please you are all welcome...!
Good morning to all of you.

Galaxy apps never lists the Message app & I have the original default apk extracted & restored but somehow it's not working. So even have Flashed Stock firmware still no go but I know I have to wipe everything that will work but any mods who are having experience in making ROMs definitely know where the solution lies.
My storage is almost full & backing up definitely seems an difficult task at the moment as I'm running around with other things.
I'm no dumb to take your time mods so please help.
So While Replacing New Messaging App May Be For Eg.S9 Messaging App With Blue Icon Did You Replce It In priv-app/Messaging_SEP81 Or MessagingCommon Folder By Renaming The Target Apk With The Same Name? As Per My View This Issue Looks To Be Complicated..Flashing The Latest Stock Build Should Solve The Issue Itself But Unfortunately It Didn't So You Can Either Try To Replace Another Version Of Apk According To API Level On ApkMirror Or Try To Figure Out If App Shows In Settings/apps/show system app/clear data n cache if present there OR Try To Flash Any Custom Rom For Your Device And See If It Works On Custom Flawlessly Instead Of Stock

Hear is what I did, back up my existing data & wiping it in twrp gets back default app but again after restoring data gets me the same issue so gonna modify the backed up data & see where it goes.
I had gone almost full on storage so was trying to simple avoid the time to back up & restore but anyways it's the only Ultimatum now. As all mods prefer to remain in silent-no offense.
I have already fixed it but I would like to know if there are any who could help it out to resolve the issue in simplest manner. I have been working on it. May be it works or may be it doesn't to modify backed up data bcoz I definitely know the issue is in data but not system. So if someone gets into same issue as I'm then I just something left out for them to get their issue resolved by this post that's all. Cheers to all.
Thank you for your reply.

Remove software update notification

Is there anyway to remove this notification?
It's the Vodafone settings and recommended apps update.
Currently running 9.0.0.163 and root, so the installation fails. I also don't want to install it. But this notification is annoying!
Any suggestions?

I had this issue with call notifications not going away, before. Generally you need to just go into settings > apps > "the app in question", and clear cache and\or data.
Maybe try to turn off updates for the app too, or prevent permissions for accessing wifi and mobile data in settings > apps > data.
And maybe force stop the app and prevent it from auto-starting in the future.
Oh, this worked! Thank you, it was very annoying to see that vodafone bloatware notification.
