Im trying to make a backup on v2.6.3.3 and system and data backup fine but it fails to backup boot. Ive made backups before on this version with no error and I tried to backup on 2.7 TWRP and I get the same issue. I installed CWM and tried a backup and everything backed up fine with no error, so what could be the issue?
EDIT: Im able to make a backup of them separately so I guess ill just have two separate backups

Hi,
I hope that my experience could help other persons that fall in my situation.
After a try of CM, I couldn't restore my stock backup anymore, the phone hanged up in the lg boot screen.
There were no problems about ext4 partition or wiping or fixing permission.
I was thinking to do a NVflash procedure, but i gave another try: using old modaco CWM recovery. I overwrited CWM 4.2.0.2, performed a wipe, installed the modaco zip ext4->ext3 (i didn't remember if i was ext 3 or 4) and then restore my STOCK backup: EVERYTHING WAS FINE!!!
Maybe there's a problem in the newest CWM during restore a backup, i don't know, but in this way i could restore my original firmware.
Hope that this could be usefull.
Did you do your stock backup with modaco CWM? It has different MD5 checksum than the CWM. Might be the case why you can't restore your backup.
No, I did the stock backup with the original CWM.
I think that the problem is in the restore procedure of the original CWM (4.2.0.2), in fact also the CM restore is impossible, only if you install the zip immediately after the restore. Instead... hangs up.
I find when that happens the best method is to reflash the rom your restoring and just restore the data from your nandroid backup. Always works for me.
confirm this issue with cm & nandroid restore
-----------
This is true, restore and then install the rom. But how if your restore is the stock rom? NVflash? It's not the same.
Fortunally, Modaco CWM solve it without this procedure.
Thanks!!
This solve my problem with my stock nandroid restore. I downgrade CWM to 3.1.4 (did the backup with 3.2.8 version) and now works perfect!!
Finally i could restore my stock rom.
my solution was...
1. nandroid backup of mcr
2. full wipe & installed cm7
3. nandroid restore of mcr
4. installed mcr without wipe (this solved bootloop after restoring)
hey,
i restored my nandroid backup from the newest nightly to an older backup, because my gapps didn't stay after the flash.
sadly the restore left some applications, even though i still got plenty of space on my sd card, what could've caused this? i do have titanium backups, but i'd rather restore my complete backup state, than fiddling and trying to remember which stuff is missing. furthermore titanium does restore the application, but not the data, it stays stuck on the restore progress notification, downloading the busybox from titanium didn't help either
i'd be very grateful for help

Are you using CWM 3.0?
Try reverting to an older CWM version our Amon Ra.
As for gapps not sticking, which gapps you using and which rom?
Look for temasek's 20110507 gapps.
Hey guys,
I used odin to get boot it back up and then I used ClockworkMod to restore backed up data....
After phone said 'restore complete,' I let the phone reboot, but the phone will not reboot
at&t screen pops up and then black out then pops up again then into android recovery mode.
Any ideas?
Could you please provide a little more information about how you got to where you are? (e.g. what rom/kernel/modem/theme you were flashing, what ODIN you used, what version of CWM, etc.) Anything you provide will be helpful in troubleshooting.
Well I had cognitive 4.5.3 installed and I tried restoring using clockmod recovery
the restore wasn't successful and the phone would stay black screened after Galaxy S logo screen
So I turned on odin3 and put my phone on download mode then hit start on odin3
that successfully restored the phone to froyo 2.2 without any of my data
so I tried using clockmod recovery once again to restore the backup
and then... that's where I am
The phone won't boot. It will just go into recovery mode
Here's the message I got after trying to restore once again
--------------------------------
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.2
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring system...
Restoring data...
Restoring datadata...
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure.
Restoring cache...
sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext/.
Restore complete!
--------------------------------
When did you make that nandroid backup? If you made it while on stock, you'll have to go back to stock first, then run the restore command. If on cognition, you'll need to be on the version you were on when you made the backup and restore there.
Here's the link I found on how to return to stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
I've done the first part - before the master reset and then tried restoring the backup and that is how I got to where I am right now.
Do I need to factory reset as well?
If I do factory reset, won't that erase the backup file?
Thanks. I really appreciate your help

To answer your question, doing the master clear will erase EVERYTHING stored in the phone's internal memory. Don't do that step now, as you should be able to get out of where you are without doing that.
I think where your problem occurred is that at some point you made a nandroid backup in CWM, and by trying to restore that on stock, it's freaking out. If you can remember what ROM setup you had on your phone when you made the backup, you could try to get back to that setup to use the restore option in CWM.
Before doing any of the things you're doing now, had you made a backup in Titanium Backup?
I do have backup made with Titanium Backup.
apps data and everything that I could backup with Titanium Backup
Will restoring what I had backed up with Titanium Backup and then restoring the system using CWM work?
I am currently at 2.2 Froyo, which was the rom I was using when backing up using CWM
You've flashed 2.2 stock? If so just flash the rom you previously had with cwm then let it boot. After it boots reboot into cwm then perform a restore in cwm. If that doesnt work nand backup might not be good and you will just have to flash stock again and just rub tibu and leave it at that.
**Thing about NAND backups is that you have to use the same system when you restore (i.e. you nand backup usng cognition then you flash another rom when you nand restore its not going to boot).
Thanks guys for the suggestions!
My phone has been saved!
Hi,
I wipe my device yesterday to make a fresh install because my o2x has gotten laggy for the past few weeks, I made a titanium backup + CWM backup.
Sadly, some of my apps Data was not backed up for some reason, although the app is able to be restored by titanium, but no previous data backup. The most important apps for me, the LG Memo app and color notes which both i use to record memo. Now lost.
Then i tried to restore from CWM which supposed to be last resort, and it failed to restore halfway through the SYSTEM partition. So now i am totally lost.
This is my second time in a few months cwm failed to make a proper backup (i rarely use it anyway), and the sad thing is i will not know that it is a bad backup until i tried to restore it to see it fails.
So my question is, is there a recommended version of CWM i should use? I flashed my cwm from rom manager, i think it is version 4.0.2.0.
Secondly, is there a way to extract and restore my app + data from raw cwm backup?
Thanks.
Current cwm version is 5.0.2.8. I have installed it directly and never experienced a problem.
I think that you can manually extract your app and push it to your phone.
It's not much of the app itself, but the DATA that is associated with the app. Like i said, the LG Memo i can just get back by reinstalling the rom, but the memos i saved for the past year or so is what i want to get back.
I am daily user of cwm instaled thry RomMenager and it works perfectly. You can try application Appextractor to extract app from your cwm backup
You can also try restoring your /data partition only. CWM has an option to selectively restore parts of your backup. That way you can get your info back.
Sent using some sticks and gum, just as McGyver would

I tried that... it ends up with bootloop.
@all
Thanks for all your help. I manage to restore the cwm backup after updating my cwm. It got stuck at boot but then i tried reinstalling the Spica's HP custom kernel.. everything's back again. Lucky~
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Pop Plus (S5570i - rooted) which I currently renewed by reflashing the stock rom: I’ve done optimization/customization of both system and applications and now I’d wish to do a Nandroid backup of everything, since I plan to install/test some other rom.
In the past months I’ve tried some CWM recovery which installed fine, and all CWM which I tested were able to correctly performs the Nandroid backup on my SD card, but none of these CWM recovery were able to restore the backup; I don’t exactly remember the exact error message, but was something about the mounting of some partition, furthermore this failed restorings caused my phone to become bricked and I was forced to reflash the stock rom.
By searching on this forum I've find this discussion, about another version of CWM for the S5570i, especially on the following post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27179828&postcount=119
The user in such post ( draiyan ) said that he was able to backup and restore a Galaxy Mini Plus using the Skin1980-GT-S5360+CWM.zip file. Well: this CWM, as the other which I tried, boots fine on my phone and as the other which I tried, has been able to make a Nandroid backup, but I’d wish to have some other confirmation: is the CWM kin1980-GT-S5360+CWM.zip recovery able to restore the backup? Or maybe someone can suggest me a tested CWM for the Galaxy Mini Plus with the stock rom, which is able to correctly restore a Nandroid backup?
Many thanks.

Well, I reply to myself, also for future references/needs of the people which will read this topic:
Yes: the CWM Skin1980-GT-S5360+CWM.zip recovery is able to properly backup and restore the Nandroid Backup on the Galaxy Mini/Pop Plus (S5570I), yesterday I decided to take the risk to restore the Nandroid backup and everything went fine: the restore was properly done, because using a root file explorer I made a text file under /system and /data: after the Nandroid restore these text file were no longer present, and after the reboot I found my phone in a previous state (before the restore the phone was in plane mode, after the restore the plane mode was disabled).
