I am rooted but still using the stock ROM. I have two Bluetooth-enabled Pioneer head units and a Bluetooth adapter for my home stereo system with this issue, so I know it's not the other Bluetooth device that's the problem.
When I pair the other Bluetooth device, everything works fine until the Bluetooth device disconnects. I either leave the area with my One, or turn the car off. When I come back home or turn the car on, the One will not reconnect unless I manually turn Bluetooth off and turn it back on again. I don't have to redo the pairing, just cycle Bluetooth off and on. This gets really, really annoying with the car stereos because I have to do it every time I make a stop.
The weird thing is, I had the problem before and it went away when the KitKat update was released. Unfortunately it only worked for a few weeks because I sent my One in for the pink camera issue. I did a hard reset before sending it off and rooted it got back, and now the Bluetooth problem has returned even though it's still on 4.4.2.
Anyone know how to make this go away?
No one is having a similar problem or knows how to fix this?

Hey guys,
My tmobile one wont auto connect to my cars stereo. It will pair but then it wont automatically connect when I turn the car on. Even when I force connection in the menu it sometimes wont connect and if it does it takes forever.
I have tried blue tooth auto connect from the play store and that doesn't really help.
This has been happening since I got the phone and have tried a variety of roms. My nexus 4 never had this issue.
Any way to fix it? Anyone have the same problem?
If anyone is curious I drive a Subaru WRX.
I have similar issue connecting to eclipse avn. I didn't have any issues before with defy and nexus s. Sometimes it connects fine though not sure where the problem is. Thanks

Try to update your bluetooth car stereo software if applicable. I had same problem with my Alpine Headset. Most likely, problem is your headset, not your phone.
I had this issue at one point. I had to factory reset the handset. After I did that, I repaired and it connected automatically from then on out.
I had this issue with my Blue&Me system in my car, and to fix it, I have to reset and delete my user profile on the car.
After, I re-pair my phone and everything is good to go. Strangely, I need to do that every time I reset my Bluetooth preferences in my phone. (from Rom updates, etc.)
Give it a try.
I use a Dockboss Air to stream Bluetooth audio from my AT&T HTC One in my car. I've noticed that when I turn my car off (which turns the Dockboss Air off), leave the car, then come back and start my car, my HTC One will never reconnect unless I stop/restart Bluetooth on the HTC One, or go into settings and manually tell it to re-connect. I had this issue with both 4.2 and now with 4.3. I even tried the International 4.3 ROM and it also had the same issue.
FYI, I didn't have this issue with my iPhone 5. It would re-connect almost immediately. I verified it again a few days ago with my girlfriend's iPhone 5. It re-connects immediately.
Is there a way to fix this?
Anyone else haing issues here with bluetooth? I can connect to everything bluetooth, wireless speakers, car, headsets, watch etc. The only thing I can get to work reliably is the headset, everything else randomly cuts out or has issues. For example both cars have bluetooth for phone calls, one has bluetooth for media, I can get both to work for a short time but it either 1. Cuts out and reverts back to phone, freezes the system in the one car, or jumps back and forth between the 2. Similar results when connected to bluetooth speakers, can get it to work for about 10-15 minutes then nothing, phone shows it still connected and playing music but no sounds from speakers. LG G Watch R also randomly looses connection. I'm beginning to regret my switch from the S5.
Anyone having similar problems or a fix?? I really want to keep the phone but not sure I can deal with this flaw...........
I have no such issues with the bluetooth. I can tell you that I had bluetooth issues with one of my other android phones. I had to get it warranty replaced. My suggestion is that you get the phone replaced since its brand new.
Mine has been fine so far. I just wish that android was more like apple, as much as I hate to say that. Both my S6 and M7 will play phone audio fine when in a call, but to use maps I have to turn the radio to Bluetooth mode. Makes it kinda boring to ride with no radio just to get turn by turn nav.

I haven't had any issues with my smart watch (moto 360) but I have had some weird issues with my car's Kenwood media deck. The phone will connect to the unit, but 75% of the time no sound will come from the speakers on the first try. Sometimes just waiting about a minute does the trick, other times I turn BT off/on and it'll work fine the 2nd time. However because I haven't had any issues connecting with my watch, ear piece, or laptop I am willing to bet it's it an issue with the Kenwood and not the phone.
Thanks guys. Don't want to have to warranty swap it but looks like that's going to be my first step.
Since I updated my Moto X 2014 from Lollipop 5.0 to 5.1, the connection between my phone and the sound car isn't possible anymore. After 15 - 20sec the car sound turn off and back in safe mode. I've tried reset the bluetooth, disconnect, but none of this worked.
Someone has a clue?
Thats strange,
Mine has started doing the same thing. Just upgraded to 5.1.
Bluetooth connects fine, then after about 20 seconds, the car stereo just reboots.
I thought it was an issue with my stereo, but maybe not, as its happening to you too, and only started after updating our MotoX's.
I will have a play with my stereo after work tonight! How odd!
I dont have stereo bluetooth for music, just for calling. Mine did the same thing. Even freezing my car stereo to the point where it stayed on even after i locked the car. Strange. I fixed it by deleting the connection from my phone and stereo then reconnecting the two devices again.
In time:
Today I saw a old post about another bluetooth issue. In it, they say to reset the phone in safe mode.
"just to isolate any app causing the stutter/cutout's ,try using the phone in 'safe mode' - https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/97327/p/30,6720,9050/kw/safe"
I reset the phone in safe mode and connect it to car stereo. Worked perfectly.
I just reset the phone again and the bluetooth now is working normally. I hope it continue in this way
Thanks for the tip!
I deleted the car stereo in bluetooth settings (forget connection), then re-paired the two devices. It seems to work OK now.
Very odd though...
I previously owned a Sony Z3v and had no complaints. I run and workout regularly so I often use bluetooth headphones while doing so. These in particular http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/backbeat-fit. I'm been having issues since day 1 with these disconnecting. I have to power them down and power them up again to reconnect. Even when they lose connection, they show they are connected but are non responsive. I had not trouble whatsoever with my sony experia.
Anyone else having these kind of issues? I've checked the forums and I don't see any reports. Is this isolated?
I only use Bluetooth when I'm in the shower with the beats pill but it works great for me.

Not entirely related but I have had issues with my original Galaxy Gear disconnecting somewhat frequently when I disconnect my BT head unit or at other seemingly random times that sometimes require me to turn BT off and on again. It's not that huge of an issue usually but BT on my S6 is not perfect for sure.

I am having Bluetooth disconnect issues with my car. Will connect and disconnect repeatedly for about 7 minutes and then stay connected. Very annoying. Have tried several fixes but nothing has worked.
I haven't had an issue with mine when using it for my gopro.
The issue is with Android using Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi simultaneously. I've had these issues since owning the phone. For whatever reason if you connect your phone to a bluetooth speaker where both devices are BT 4.0, the WiFi will be extremely slow or not work at all.
If you don't believe me, try it. As soon as you connect the device, try to load something like a video or song over WiFi. Or even send a Facebook message. It'll stall. As soon as it stalls, turn off WiFi and it'll magically start working again over cellular data.
No issues here, usually stream to a Bose Color Sound device, getting connection through WiFi
I have issues with mine pretty regularly with my car. A reboot of the phone will sometimes fix it. It's annoying, sometimes it will disconnect from audio but not phone or vice versa. Or it will work perfect, I'll get a phone call and it all goes to crap. The remainder of the drive will generally result in fighting with it. Maybe it will reconnect, but most of the time it won't. Never have I had a phone with so many bluetooth issues.
Had issues with my truck head unit / phone BT. Phone would continually disconnect.
Tracked it down to the Messages transferring to head unit.
If I disabled Messages in the Bluetooth / Allow Access To area, it worked fine, but obviously messages wouldn't go to my truck.
I cleaned all messaging apps, factory reset truck head unit, no fix. eventually factory reset the phone, havn't had any problems since.
