[Q] Issue after freezing bloat - LG G Flex

Hey everyone! Just a quick question here. After using this >http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-remove-bloats-on-lg-g-flex-list-of-safe-to-remove-apps/ to freeze the bloat, whenever I reboot the phone, I get a pop up notificaton that says: Unfortunately, Update Device has stopped.. Obviously, being rooted, I wouldn't want to update the device, but is this notification tied to something else? Or is it referring to OS updates?

I'm pretty sure its freezing the app update apk. Unfreeze it and see if that fixes it or freeze update center. Lg had a built in update center for the phone and lg apps so I'm sure that's what it is

I did the unfreeze of the app update apk, and I still get the pop up on startup Other than this pop up though, I don't see any other issues while using the phone, besides the fact that I have to update my PRL every time I change towers, lol..

Interesting, when i was trying to delete bloat i got a pop up saying com.lge.systemservice has failed or stopped one of the two. Everytime i hit ok it would pop up again. I had to force shut down my phone for it to go away. Now i have lag on the phone and it just isnt operating like it use to Kind of like its crippled.

Because both you guys were smart and froze the bloat I would say to just restore all of it and start again, but this time do it one at a time until you got your problem. Then you know what app it us causing issues

Update Device has stopped
Brief history:
LG G2 v 4.2.2 software version ZV8
I rooted my phone and used Titanium Back up to freeze bloatware. I ended up freezing my visual voicemail and wanted to return it to it's previous state. In the process of doing so, some how, I ended up in a reboot loop.
In comes the factory reset.
Still no visual voicemail and now lots of things have "stopped".
For example:
"Unfortunately, LGATCMD Service has stopped" when I tap on Hardware Information.
Plug and Pop when I plug in to charge.
Update Services when I download and attempt to restart the ZV8_13_to_ZVA_01_inc upgrade.
Of course in all my infinite wisdom, I did not do a back up prior to attempting to reinstall the original voicemail issue that caused the reboot loop that caused the factory reset that caused the "Unfortunately" errors.
I understand my limited capabilities (now anyway) but believe, with the proper layman's terms and thorough, step by step instructions, I could fix this myself with the wisdom of those in the know.
Is anyone available and willing to help? I would definitely appreciate it!
Thanks much.

Do you have the G Flex or G2?
From what you wrote I'm assuming you have the Sprint G2. I'm not 100% sure if this would work as you posted in the LG G Flex forums but I would try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2656275.
If you have the G Flex then this is the link you should go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083. The G Flex return to stock should fix your system folder issues.

The T-Mobile variant should, I can't say that it does for sure, because of all of the bloatware I've removed and plus I've never used it on any of the phones I've owned from T-Mobile.

I have a LG G2 and I'm in the process of downloading the .zip suggested by PattyNYC. I started the download about 9am this morning and it's still downloading at 12:45. I'll take the chance and take my laptop to work, but I'm going to lose wi-fi on the way there.
But, I'll be there 10 hours, so hopefully all will be good!
I'll keep y'all posted.
Thanks!!

I'm used to AT&T using it, on my note 1 and 2 so i miss it actually.
Edit: after going on the AT&T website and seeing that the flex is not compatible with vvm i decided to side load the apk off my note and it works outta the box! Good thing our carriers are on top of their own software right? ?

PattyNYC: THANK YOU!!
So far everything seems to be going great and I'm on my third system update since returning it to stock (ZVA - Spark, I believe). I will continue to update and tweak things, but I'm still interested in rooting again, just to get rid of the bloat ware. I think I'll be a wee bit more careful when it comes to what I freeze and delete, etc!
So I don't continue to thread jack, PM me anytime if you have any more words of wisdom!
Yep! I got Spark!
Thanks again (BTW, how do I add to your Thank-O-Meter? You definitely deserve it!

MY HTC ONE from sprint Got 4.3 UPDATE

Hey guyssssssss I live in Puerto Rico and my 4.3 update just got to me SEP/30
I used the standard process for unloocking bootloader /TMWP Recovery/ SuperSU/ and installed costom ROM. And everything is still working. If anyone else got the update please tell me.
Update:
A bit about my phone. I bought it from a best buy clerk that won it in a pre release of the HTC one ( promotional propaganda to push the phone as they came into market. CWM touch recovery don't work on my phone always crashes.
Here here not smoking nothing. 5 hours of semi bricked device and I am back. No joke I can't get back to stock. RUU's dont work so I cant replicate what I did in a video. The update came to my phone Sep30. Tried to update but since I had a costume recovery kept falling to update ( even though the phone was forcing me to update everytime) decided to use the original RUU and update all the way throu. At 4 updates later I finally had it. All the bloatware from HTC wanted to update and so did sprint. What I first ran to check was the VVM because I know is not working on 4.3 and in fact had an update. Extracted the .apk and .odex and are on other post. And whent ahead and unlocked bootloader wish did normaly. Next went to install recovery and so it did. Then installed super user. All good. Final step change ROM so I did. When came the time to do it all again I couldnt. When I relocked phone it erased side loaded ROM and RUU don't work. Hit error as is tries to identify version. Hope HTC releases the update. If anyone has any way of getting RUU to work please page me. I would love to replicate the update for you guys
A ~250MB update is going to be the 1.31.651.2 OTA. If it is anything different than 4.1.2 then please post screen shot of About Phone -> Software Information screen. Appreciate it.

At the same time I would highly highly doubt that this will be the 4.3 OTA due to a custom ROM will most likely have major issues due to the firmware update and all from the new OTA.

I hope for your sake that you are just misunderstanding something because the mods have said that the next person to post a thread about a fake 4.3 update is going to get banned. The 4.3 update is not just 250 mb as has been said and is just the 1.31 update which is still 4.1.2.

Have you rooted YOUR Tmobile (or any) G Flex.?

I was just curious if anyone out there has Rooted their T-mo or Other carrier G Flex. I love aspects of Rooted devices (Vibrant, Sensation, Galaxy 2,3 various other devices) however I have found that with a lot of the newer devices that are coming out, I haven't really felt the need to root. Are there any real advantages to rooting my G Flex, or if Im happy with it should I just leave it be?
More specifically however, has anyone used the VROOT method?
Not yet I'm really happy with it I feel like I don't want to **** anything up

Well on the ATT model there is a ton of bloat as well as Carrier IQ. So yeah I rooted and am happy now.
TMO here and I've rooted for AdAway and Root Explorer. Think I'm going to wait for a solid recovery to be released before I do much more.

Not yet, I guess given that the phone was just recently released I want to wait until there is (or isn't) significant developer support for this phone. If not, then I won't do any modifications with it and dump it in 6 months and use a JUMP from Tmo.
Since I rooted, is my Jump nullified meaning I can't use it now?
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk
Tmobile does NOT care if your phone is rooted when you go to use a Jump..
I have the T-Mobile flex and i rooted with ioroot. So that i can use xposed +gravity for pie and expanded
desktop view. Works flawlesssly!!!!!
I'll probably root once there is a working TWRP recovery..until then, I can wait, cause this phone is so sweet is so many ways right out of the box..
I have Tmobile flex. I rooted to get rid of bloat and so I can use titanium backups. I have to say, there are some similarities between LG UI and touchwiz but I think LG has this a little better organized. Haven't played with exposed on here yet but I will.
Sent. Edited. Sent again. Deleted, and rewritten. Sent again.
Bought the G Flex release day and rooted that same night! Got rid if the bloat with TiB and now messing with some of the xposed modules. Best. Choice. Ever.

I used ioroot..manual method. Did you have trouble with that one?
I haven't rooted yet; just got this thing on Thursday, and want to make sure I am keeping it before I do.
Plus, I might wait a bit and see if by some miracle, kitkat gets pushed out for this guy, in the next week or 2,and I dont want to have to unroot it, in order to get that.
I know the chances aren't good for that, but, I like to learn about a new phone for a week or 2, then decide what I want to do with it, so I am not in a big hurry to root; there is no custom recovery yet, and of course, no roms, so I can be patient.
Thanks everyone for the insight, seeing as this thread has brought more to the table than just tmo answers and users I'll leave it be. I have, with some regret, opted to swap my phone for a Note 3. I had an issue where I would get temporary screen burns (lasting no more than a few seconds). Seeing as these are high end devices, I expected better from lg. The screen burn a side, the flex really is a great phone.

[Q] No Service

Hi!
I just got my new G Flex today (I know, a bit late to the party) and I put my SIM in and there is no service constantly. I know the SIM is not the problem because it works in other phones. I have already called my service provider and they say that there really shouldn't be anything stopping it from getting service. Also tried to reset the phone to factory settings with no positive result. Is there anything you guys suggest to do?
Thanks!

With the impending charge locking update, what are options to keep the Note 7 going?

I'd like to get the Pixel XL, but as it stands it still seems that isn't yet in stock and I have my doubts it'll be available by the nineteenth of this month.
Is there a way to keep the phone from auto updating like it did with the 60% charge restriction without having to root?
Will rooting and using a custom ROM become the only way to keep the Note 7 running come the new update?
Will rooting then impact returning the phone with T-Mobile? Or can you return it to "stock" in order to do so?
I'm rooted with stock os, I just disabled all the samsung crap and didn't get the previous update. So I don't see this coming either. I used titanium backup freeze/ remove method and haven't had any unauthorized updates pushed to my phone. At this point is only way you can do it or else be stuck unable to charge your phone in a week.
Tiger, I've never rooted a phone, but I'm no tech dummy either. What is a good resource to walk me through the process? What will I need to download? PC vs. Mac?

you can roll back to the previous firmware get rid of the 60% update but thats it.

there is an ADB method but its not working on all devices from what ive seen

Only way at this point is download the vanilla firmware in the download section. Flash it via Odin, root it right away, and don't let it get online. Load titanium, find the app to download to sd card, then disable to your hearts content and you will be able to keep your phone.

Tiger, I've never rooted a phone, but I'm no tech dummy either. What is a good resource to walk me through the process? What will I need to download? PC vs. Mac?

There's another package disabler and method I saw today on the Facebook Note 7 Rebels page.

Go to note7alliance.com , everything is there to block the update. All of the information is free, and they will help if you have any questions. They also have a Facebook page called Note 7 Alliance.
Got an iPhone 7 plus today in matte black. So far so good. Couldn't resist the price so I went for it. T-Mobile is now refunding me my money for the note 7 lol. I'll just wait for Note 8.

Does this require a root?

What should I disable? Some of these links won't work.

I use a Verizon Note 7 with my tmobile sim. Never receives updates. All of my samsung phones in the last 4 years has been verizon phone using tmo sims. If I ever wanted to get an update I used Kies. I will never connect my note 7 to kies or any samsung SW.

I'm thinking of turning in my phone for a Gear S3. That way I can still use Samsung Pay. I'll just fire up my Note 3 and wait for the Note 8. I'll just keep my two S-pens for the Note 3. They even fit into the Note 3's silo.
