It's not the first time that i'm posting this kind of problem, My SP was repaired 3 times in 3 months since i bought it, absolute piece of s...
How is it possible to pick your cell up from service centre, then you come home and you find out that they haven't connected it to pc/usb just to be sure that USB works ???? Everytime they were testing my phone, after removing old motherboard and of course when they put new and they didn't connect it to PC ??? Are they retarded ?? Anyway, i will terminate my contract with Tele2 and service centre, because this is just too annoying. What a dose of unprofesionalism, unbelievable.
Right now i can't do anything except using my phone and retards in service centre didn't update my software ?? So how am i supposed to do that when my pc can't recognize it, it even won't charge over PC ! Same thing like the first time when it didn't charge and wasn't recognized on pc.
Well is there any solution to update my firmware over the air or something.. Thanks, i'm very frustrated

Unofortunately, you can't update your phone "over the air", but you can try updating your phone using flashtool as this might be a software problem.

Sorry for taking so long. There's a tutorial that you might want to take a look at. It basically explains everything you need to know about flashing through flashtool. Good luck!

I opened a VOC (voice of customer) with LG and told them a few things I'd want on the phone and I was told it would be forwarded on. One thing I told them is I'd like to see people who have non branded unlocked phones be allowed to unlock the bootloader. HTC have been doing this and it's been great being able to do what ever you want on your phone.
If enough of us told LG we wanted this do you guys think they'll really allow us to unlock the bootloader for the 4X and Future phones?
I just wish they for once had working, sensible Software for PCs. First, their upgrade tool installs the USB drivers again, despite already having them in the same version and working on the PC, then I get a "USB connection lost" in the middle of the upgrade, just after it had told you to under absolutly no circumstance disconnect it while it's upgrading .... and asks you to unplug the USB cable at the same time. Then it retries and fails again. Downright horrible.
At least it doesn't brick and can still be booted and the OTA update works..... but those LG PC solutions are always utter, utter, utter crap Then again, so are many of the other mobile phone makers software "solutions".
I know what you mean, I had a similar experience with my old HTC Hermes, but then again it was a worn out mini USB cable. It would disconnect if I moved the cable even slightly, updating it was scary.
But if the software is doing this then you should tell LG about it and hopefully they'd fix the damn thing, if they're not aware of it then they won’t try to fix it. Telling them about the problem in detail should help them find a solution.
hi guyz, i bought my SP month ago and i had positive and negative reactions. SP has a lot of bugs, i hope that they are software bugs and that with new update, they will be removed. my biggest problem is that when i connect my phone to pc it doesn't show that it is connected, it isn't charging and pc companion doesn't recognise it. the funny thing is that i could charge (over pc) it 2 weeks ago and suddenly one day it won't charge. i tried with mass storage mode but it doesn't help too. it charges only when my PC is turned off but i don't need "another charger", i need to connect my phone with pc to transfer data. let's say that this doesn't matter if i can update my phone over wi-fi, but if i can't what the hell i'm gonna do ? i don't wanna go to repair it, it's a new cellphone ! i'm from Croatia and if someone knows : can i update over wi-fi or i have to connect it to usb ? because it says that in some countries it can update over wi-fi and somewhere it can't. i would be very grateful if someone could really help me, thanks !

how in god's name do you expect a PC to install drivers over Wi-Fi...
Of course you need to connect your phone with USB..
Do you have root or any app prohibiting the phone from connecting?

before you go and call someone trying to help you blind you should keep in mind they don't have to help you. that said try turning it off plugging it in then powering on while connected. you can every try pressing the button on the back to reset the battery.
Have you actually tried using another USB-port?
What you are refering to is an OTA, over the air software update, not a drivers installation
ok sorry, but i thought i explained everything.. i didn't say that i expect PC to install drivers, i said if i could connect my cellphone via wi-fi and download software updates without involving pc .. ? if i can, half of problem is solved..
hmmm, i'm not sure about any root app or something similar.. i have several games, whatsapp, soundhound, ringtone maker, instagram, file manager,di radio, accu weather, but i don't think that they are responsible for this..
i tried all usb ports. yup, maybe i said it wrong.
i'll try to reset it now.

hmm that's weird... if you can't connect with stock firmware, maybe it's a hardware problem? Does your PC recognize other devices on USB ports?
Does the phone charge while connected to AC adapter?

Edit: My guess is that's hardware related. Maybe too low mAh to charge with the USB cables? I have no clue

i knew that they are noobish only in software field, but i always thought that it's not a big deal cause with new update the most of the bugs get fixed. now they proved that they suck also in hardware field, maybe not for flagships, but definitely for mid-range phones or lower.. i won't forget to ask what was the problem, don't worry
After having this phone for a little over a year, I have finally decided to enjoy the world of root once again. The only probably is that I have been banging my head against the wall all day trying to figure out why none of my computers will recognize my phone when it is connected.
I am 100% stock right now.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to be that guy. I tried installing the drivers on a Win7 machine, even did a factory reset on the phone. I have tried using multiple cables, but still am not having any luck.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it? I am tempted to go to Sprint and see if they will replace it and try my luck with getting one that hasn't been updated yet.

I've never experienced this, but I've heard that some cables can only handle charging the phone but not doing data transfers between the phone and the PC. Is the phone getting charged when connected to the computer? Also, is the phone getting charged normally (via outlet/AC)?
It might be that the phone's faulty - in that case just factory reset your phone, make sure it's S-ON, unrooted, on stock ROM, completely wiped etc, and take it back to Sprint.
I'd suggest towelroot to root your phone easily without a computer, but since the newer HTC phones have /system write-protected, it won't work. Give it a try though anyways - it won't affect anything.

It charges when connected to the computer, but when I connected it to my Car Dock this morning it told me that it couldn't charge it. This was using the HTC Card Dock specific for my HTC One.
I'll be taking this in to the Sprint Store to see if they will order me a replacement, or can show me where I am going wrong.

Yes, i've tried. And then it works, but it stops working when I get back from work.
By the way, did you make sure the wifi problem is specific to your phone only?
If not, check to see if other devices have this same problem too.
Also try turning off wifi location in battery settings might work, i've had earlier problems with that on another phone.
If all above doesn't work, try reflashing your firmware with flashtool.
I hope there's something that will help you.

Hey folks,
So I have a completely unmodified, stock Canadian N920W8 on 6.0.1, and no matter what I do, I cant get it to be recognized by Odin on my Win10 or Heimdall on my Mac.
I've done everything I could think of. Different cables, different ports, even different computers. Reinstalled the USB drivers, everything.
Anyone have any ideas? My phone won't fast charge, and is lagging more and more. I can't even Odin back to stock because it won't recognize. Factory Reset just cleaned out everything but nothing has changed. OEM unlock and USB debugging on, it won't be seen by the computers.
Any help? It's past manufacturer warranty, but it's still a good phone and I don't wanna lose it.

Did you install the actual drivers or just the ones that Windows installs? I use the ones that Samsung smart switch installs and I have no issues. If it is not fast charging and your computer does not recognize the phone it may not matter what drivers you use.
I used the Samsung USB drivers for Mobile Phones from Canadian support page. And that's on a fairly fresh win 10 install, too.

Unfortunately not. I was hoping smart switch would see it. I would not rule out a damaged USB port.
I hope not... this is way past warranty, and I wanted to flash the thing with Khongloi's new Nougat rom... if it won't be recognized, then I can't even back it up or re-flash it to stock. Which is not a good thing...
No other suggestions, @CodeNameRedNeck ? You've been a huge help otherwise.

Just to be sure. Can you transfer files from your PC to your phone and vice versa? Do you have any USB 3.0 ports? My phone seems to work better on 3.0 but still works on other types. Do you still have the Samsung cable? I know you said you have tried other cables but I used to have two cables that would not do data.
I tried with a brand new from the box cable, into four different usb 2 ports on the Mac and 2 usb 3 ports on the windows 10 PC.
No luck with it even being recognized for file transfers either.
@ve6ay, I could be wrong but I would say you probably need a new port. You should be able to pick one up relatively cheap. Good luck.
That's my thought, too, and in that case, I'll forgo anything. The contract is up in October, and it got the OTA update to 7.0, so I'm okay with it for now. I'm not into opening up her phone (which hasn't even been rooted yet) to switch out a port that I'm not confident enough to switch out.

Did you try going into Developer Options and then scrolling down until you see "USB Configuration" and setting it to MTP? Or open the dialing pad and enter *#0808# and then making sure it's set to MTP, ADB and then try again.. If that doesn't work then it really is your port connection and it's actually super easy to replace and cheap too! All you'd have to do is heat the back up so you can loosen the glue up and then slowly pry the back off and then remove like 16 screws(lol) and then at the bottom you just unscrew it and easily pull the thin connection out.. I've done it several times so far although trying not to break the back glass is super hard..
The back glass got shattered in a drop last summer. So that will probably be a problem. Like I said, new phone this fall, most likely the next Note series. Though I'm tempted to go with an Exynos variant from across the ocean.
