Yesterday,
I tried to PRL/Profile update and it did not work. Just sat in a updating holding pattern. I reinstalled the ROM and it still did not work. What do I do?
Is my phone broken?

Try it on Wifi, it is finicky especially if on LTE sometimes.
If that doesn't work switch to CDMA only and do a restart before trying.
Fixed by installing new 4/7 update from themikmik.com

Just readon the moto forums that the update is rolling out and can now be pulled via about phone > updates. I updated previously but has anyone not in the soak test got the update yet?

Yes, i'm downloading it now

I checked for the update and it's available. I don't want to lose root though. Will someone post details after updating? Root, bloat, good or bad?

You will want to re-bloat your phone before updating or it will fail. Root will be lost but 1-click root still works on the update.

I tried checking, and get the message "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later."
It seems something is definitely up, as normally I would just receive a message that my system is up to date.
I don't see why you guys just haven't used the fastboot or .zip already... been available for a month.

Is there a simple way to avoid the update?

It will fail if you removed/froze any apps.

It's something I was just waiting to be ota personally. A lot of the issues it is said to fix never really bothered me except for the blue tint in pictures.

Assuming you did not remove any stock apps besides the two Gameloft demos and just froze the apps using Titanium:
1. Unfreeze the apps using batch mode in Titanium
2. Install the update
3. Reroot using the one click method. I unfroze and updated at work and now just finished rooting again.
Yeah it's random. Have two non-rooted D3's one of them got pushed the update and the other one is stuck checking for the update. Came here to see what was up.
Got the ota update this morning on my stock D3. Downloaded and installed and the install failed and then the home screen came up but with no 3G connection. Pulled the battery and nothing happened. Called Verizon and they had me pull the battery and then do a hard reset. Still no 3G connection. Got Motorola on the phone and they had me do a manual reset, but still no 3G connection. Verizon is sending me a replacement phone overnight.
Fail. Lol

I unfroze the apps before trying. Nothing was previously removed. Anything that was frozen has unfrozen properly.
EDIT: Found the reason for the message: Social applications was set to "sync over wifi only" which was causing the message. Now I get the "checking for available update. Please wait..." and it's been going about 3 minutes so far, no update found. Does not look like data is being sent/received while it's checking, either.
5 days ago, I suddenly found my phone off. I turned it on and it then it kept restarting itself. I tried to remove and re-put the battery, it still kept on restarting itself. My brother tried to do some stuff like clicking on the down-volume + power, but whatever he chose after that, a hat showed up and nothing happened for 30 mins. He tried again and again, the damn hat is all we got. So we decided to wait for my father to come home this Saturday, I took off my SIM card and left the phone, the next day I turned on the phone, it didn't restart itself, so I was happy and all, then I inserted the SIM card, it went back to restarting itself. I didn't touch the phone since then, but today, I took off the SIM card, and the phone is working well, I'm even writing this from my phone. So, what should I do now?
Oh yeah, I installed an AntiVirus a while ago (yes I didn't have one), and it detected a threat which I really don't understand: Unsecure privilege mode detected. Your phone is running in High Privilege mode (i.e., it has been rooted). We recommend using only genuine firmware.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Prior to antivirus installed, did the phone restarted itself? The first step, I would recommend remove the antivirus to see the problem still persist. Which ROM do you currently use?
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
With or without the Anti-virus installed, the phone keeps restarting itself as long as the SIM card is inserted.

Are you using GB or ICS or JB ROM? ROM manager doesn't affect the restarting problem, I think.

JB. I'm using CyanogenMod.

What's your radio version? Look in the about phone for the baseband version. If you have the latest baseband version 5.08.04 then try to flash a different ROM to see the problem still persist, making sure you do full wipes before flashing.

Yes it's the latest version, how do I flash a different ROM? :/

How did you flashed JB ROM? The process is the same.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
It's my brother who had flashed it. And, he was trying to flash a new ROM but everytime he tried to, the ROM Manager's hat showed up and remained there forever.

Don't use ROM manager to flash a ROM. Flash it in recovery.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
Yes I know, that's what we were trying to do, but the hat shows up and nothing happens.

recovery might be corrupted. flash a new recovery (4ext)

If i play with network settings I can get like 3 bars, but no data and it wont let me make calls. I have tried rebooting and updating system, but not prl
I got mine figured out there was a setting I messed with in the carbon rom something like nv or something/SIM I changed that then flashed my backup and it works again

Can you go more in detail in how you fixed it. I'm having the same problem.
Well im an idiot and hit the update for 4.4.3 without thinking when im rooted and have twrp.
Is there a way to cancel the update? I can get into the phone it boot up fully but after a minute or two it reboots to twrp What can i do to fix this??
LOL, same exact thing just happened to me so I guess I'm an idiot as well.
I had to shut it down and restart several times but it finally came up with a prompt that the update had completed (of course it hasn't, I'm still on 4.2.2) and seems be running fine now.

How did she respond? Was she receptive?
I would probably go the ODIN firmware flash route.
That's not gonna work tried that. Tmobile said there is a service outage that could be causing this problem and could be fixed soon.
