[Q] Impossible to debrand (Unlock) my Z1? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a Sony Xperia Z1 C9603
Currently running
757 by [NUT] ( I followed this guide he have in Z1 General section )
I'm currently locked to the carrier "3 (Three)" and i wish to have it SIM-Unlocked so i can use my other SIM-Card i have,
Is this possible?
Because no matter what FTF i choose the phone is still branded and when i start the phone it keep asking me for "PIN-Code To Unlock Network"
So right now i don't have any connection at all on the phone.
Could someone please help me?

Sim lock has nothing to do with which firmware you are running.
You must either speak to your network provider or pay someone in a mobile phone shop to get it sim free

Unlocking the bootloader should allow sim unlock

The only way is to pay for a code, either from your carrier or 3rd party site. Any O2 contract owners can do it for free though.

Might be on the Z1, but I've unlocked boot loaders on a lot of HTC's and that has resulted In a sim unlock

Not on Sonys, which I've owned a few of. You need a code.

Do you mean to Sim unlock? If so then no.
Do you mean unlock bootloader? If so its free to do via the sony official method, just google "Sony unlock bootloader"
Do you mean gaining root acces? If so google "Bin4rys root many android" or search for it on xda.

Yup I'm asking about sim unlock is it possible by rooting ? If not please suggest me a paid way in which I can get unlock code (note that site must support Indian credit/devout card)
No, SIM (un)lock has nothing to do with rooting. SIM locking is done by your carrier, so you should ask them. Here in the Netherlands carriers provide SIM unlocks after your contract has ended, but I don't know what the policy is in India.

I think the lt30a is the AT&T phone. You may be able to get an unlock code from them. I had no problem getting an unlock code from AT&T when I sold my S3 to buy this phone.
EDIT: I read this wrong. the AT&T version is lt30at. Sorry.
yes.
from what i undestand it was bought in uk.
some people are confusing the 2 unlock types
Just in case, the sim unlock process is a simple one, just insert another sim from the other provider and enter the code provided.
Unlocking the bootloader is not possible with some versions including the lt30a - at least a method does not yet exist - unless you are working with the models that have unlocking enabled. Check other posts which cover this topic extensively.
yes i know it asks for the SIM network unlock PIN, i do not have one.
and also i know that the bootloader isn't unlockable, i've checked in service info. i don't need unlocked bootloader for now as i have rooted the latest stock 4.1.2, only problem i have it with the sim lock..
got the sim network unlock pin from network operator, thread can be closed
Or put [solved] in the title

[Q] Factory locked bootloader

Just received the XSP as an upgrade on T-Mobile UK and was disappointed to discover via the service menu that the bootloader is unlockable. Forgive me for asking but does this mean that there is absolutely no chance that at any point in the future I will be able to unlock it? I would like to use custom roms and want to know if I kight as well look for a new phone. This was never a problem on my old Optimus Black.
Thanks in advance.

Praise the (Doom)Lord! Will this allow us to unlock the boot then andflash custom roms?
Just to make it clear bootloader is locked this means no custom kernel which might mean custom ROMs are out ie. Cm,akop,PAC etc
You will be able to root using doomlord exploit and in time will get cwm for locked bootloader so we be able to use modded stock ROMs.
As it stands only root is available for locked bootloader hope this helps

Great, thanks. This is exactly what I needed to know. Guess I'll have to be patient then..
There is a way to unlock your bootloader. You must get a SIM unlock code, unlock your SP and send an email to Sony with some data like Imei, unlock code, etc. Then a messenger will be sent to pick your phone and lucky, Sony will unlock your phone.

this may be true but it only works with bootloader that is allowed, he states in op that his bootloader is unlockable.
service menu shows if you can or not open bootloader, i am on 3 and my bootloader is locked have tried with sony code but get message not available.

Few days ago sent an email to Sony asking about this issue. Here in Spain there was a global complaint from Xperia U users asking for open the possibility of unlock their bootloaders: not to unlock it but to change the "unlockable" state of the phone. After the debate, Sony says people could send their phones to Sony attaching the respective unlock code with which they'd unlocked (SIM Unlock). Then Sony would send the telephones with the bootloader unlockable.
PS: Maybe he meant "not unlockable" instead "unlockable". If it's unlockable then he doesn't have any problem!

Yes, I meant *not* unlockable. I actually live in Spain so this service from Sony would be very useful, could you tell me how I can do this?

Yeah, mate. You have to send a message to Sony saying you've (sim) unlocked your phone and you want to unlock your bootloader. They will send you all the information you need to go through with the process.

[Q] Anyone have an XSP from EE/Orange/TMobile UK?

If anyone has an Xperia SP from Orange, T-Mobile or EE in the UK do you happen to know if your boot loader is permanently locked? I know the phone's probably sim-locked but I'm less worried about that.
Thanks!

Yes, I have.
And the answer is probably.
Go to dialler, *#*#7378423#*#* ->Service Info ->Configuration. This will tell you if bootloader unlock is allowed. (it will probably say No) go back, then select SIM Lock and you'll probably find [x] Network 5.
This means it is simlocked, and you have 5 attempts left to unlock it.
However, you should be able to use a T-Mobile, Orange, EE and possibly a Virgin SIM in it.

Mine is from T-Mobile UK and yes it is sim locked and the bootload unlock allowed is a 'no' under the service menu.
Thanks all.
I only have an Xperia U at the moment, but it's sim-free and easily unlocked. I'm currently looking at upgrade options but I don't want to lose the flexibility I have with being able to flash custom kernels, etc. in the future if I get bored with the stock rom or, more likely, Sony decides to stop supporting it.

[Q] Unlocked xperia Z1 network locked because of flashing Branded Firmware

i have a Sony Xperia Z1. the model number is C6906. i bought it directly from Sony and its Unlocked . it was working on every sim card. But i flashed the C6906 firmware of the other branded network provider. now it's network locked with that network provider. it only works with the sim card of that network. when i put any other sim card, the dialog box appears and it tells to insert network unlock code. when i contact that network, they told me to get their sim card and use it for 90 days. then they will provide me the unlock code. why should i have to use their sim card for 90 days to get the unlock code, because my phone is already factory unlocked from sony. i went to 3rd party websites which provide network unlock codes. but they didn't find the unlock code for my phone, because that phone is not present in the database of that network provider. that means i can only get the unlock code from that network code by using their sim card for 90 days. but that network is not working in my area. please suggest how can i make it unlock again as it was before ? i will be very thankful
flashing FTF files will not affect the SIM lock status of a phone.
It will neither lock an unlocked one nor will it unlock a locked one.

i flashed the firmware of Rogers for my unlocked xperia z1 C6906, which was Branded Firmware. my phone was working fine with all sim cards. but few days ago i put the sim card of rogers, the phone automatically restart and also install some rogers network apps in phone menu. after that when i put other sim card, the network unlock code dialogue box appears. it means that phone got locked with rogers now. the rogers technicians said me if you flashed rogers branded firmware, then if you ever put rogers sim card in it, then device will locked to rogers even if its unlocked from sony.
well, not sure how that works as its the first time I ever heard that happening. Not that I don't trust operators but I often find they do not know what they are talking about when it comes to the kind of things we do here at XDA
But, if what you say is true, flashing another FTF will NOT help.

that is not really what we do here. there are loads of websites for that, and rogers say they will give you an unlock code in 90 days anyway.
