Hi,
I've experienced this 3 times as of now. My phone is always on stamina mode. with a stock, rooted and locked bootloader 4.3 [.266] rom.
I got the triple nandroid back ups (i think they are CWM, TWRP, TWRP touch, but can't tell for sure).
Whenever my phone got drained because i can't find a place to charge it, I can't charge it afterwards.
Even if I leave it in the charger for a day, it still won't charge.
What I get is a red LED light. I tried everything, and somehow, after doing all of the thing for about 2 days, it gets working again. I just want to know if there is a tested solution to this. Here are the scenarios:
1.)
>> battery drained (unit turned off)
>> use wall charger to charge it
>> turns on, but in constant boot loop (with the moving colors boot animation on the screen)
>> take it off the charger
>> reset if with the reset button on the back
>> WON'T go in boot loop, but instead, I get a blank screen with the red LED light of death
2.)
>> battery drained (unit turned off)
>> use wall charger to charge it
>> screen is blank, with red LED light of death
Some insights:
Mind you, I tried everything I could think of just to get into recovery mode (hold button volume up/down or camera, with or without power button), since when I'm in recovery mode, I can leave it there and it WILL charge.
I tried to connect it to the PC to know if there are any difference, I open FLASHTOOL so i can see what is happening.
>> upon connecting to the usb, the device is detected. LED turns on. LED light is red (bright)
>> after half a second, the device is disconnected. Simultaneously, the LED turns off for a split second and turns back on with a red LED light (dimmer than before)
I tried to leave it for hours on charger while RLLOD(red LED light of death). So normally, the battery should be full right? WRONG!!
>> after pulling the device off the charger, THE RLLOD PERSISTS!!! I wait for about 10 minutes or more so that the device will turn fully of (no RLLOD). So it gives me the impression that the battery is not charged AT ALL.
>> using the reset button on the back (hold it down for more than a minute) DOESN'T do anything (when RLLOD is up and device is pulled out of charger). it should turn off but it doesn't. ,,|,,
>> so in the end, I have to waint until RLLOD dies down.
The xperia sp, when fully drained and won't even go in the starting boot sequence. If you try to turn it on (by using power button), it will just give you 2 quick RED LED pulses, and nothing will happen. Here is a curious case when charging it with PC:
>> When pulled out from charger (in RLLOD), and after waiting for the RLLOD to die down, flashtool (or the PC itself) won't detect the device if connected IF you didn't try to turn it on (of curse the 2 red pulses will happen) PRIOR to connecting it to PC (so: disconnect > try to turn on > reconnect to PC).
There might be things I forgot to include, please ask for more details, I just really want this to go away.:crying::crying:
Offline charging doesn't work when CWM is installed. (would appreciate if any1 knows if there's a way to get it working?) btw chargemon is the file you need for offline charging.

In my understanding, you can stil charge your battery regardless whether offline charging is enabled or not... anyone?
You probably should read the threads and use the search.
I had same problem. Just flash DooM kernel via fastboot. I will link post in a moment.

Thanks for replying, but still, I can't even get to CWM, so I can't flash anything.. though im reading those now.. thanks again =)
If you have recoveries installed just pug the charger and enter one recovery and leave it charge until 10%, then reboot
thank you

Hi antkalaitzakis96
This is exactly what I'm trying to do on my xperia sp. On cyanogenmod 11 by FXP, and no idea how to enter recovery on it to let my phone charge. Tried posting there to ask, but XDA won't let newbies post in Dev forum.
Can anyone please advise?? Greatly appreciated
Guys, my phone is now on =)
I just do the things as before, I trried and tried to no avail, so I gave up.. I just let it on the charger, and after sleeping, It is now on =)... but still, there should be some definitive solution to this,..
I had exactly the same problem as you guys. Letting it plugged in all night didn't help so this morning I plugged it in my computer hoping to connect in fastboot mode and on the 3rd it worked. I flashed NayakKernelv0.3 so I could enter CWM using volume buttom. My phone is now charging in cwm.

YES!!! Definitely!!!
yup.. post it please. upon reading here, I'm fairly sure that there are definitive way to bring back offline charging on 12.1.A.1.201 stock root LB. So it would be really helpful if we can bring back offline charging or at least be able to charge even after battery is drained flat. =)

In many of the threads about this the solution that seems to work is to leave the phone on charge overnight (In some cases up to 24 Hours) and then it will start to charge again.
Thanks, I'll try to keep it for a day charging.

Did you have enough battery before flashing the firmware?
Find how to reset the battery (maybe volume up or down + power)

Is your computer detecting something when you are holding volume up and then connecting the phone on pc with the usb cable?
---------- Post added at 12:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 AM ----------
Also you can try power +vol up for 15 sec
Doesn't help tbh the fact you are giving brief n slow responses. We need in depth details of what happened or what you was doing before the device failed to work.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
the pc does not detect anything, I tried volume for 15 seconds but nothing happens.
I came into recovery I flash kernel + recovery is not compatible I
I do not understand what I did there
I saw that was stuck on formatting data. and remained so stuck for a few minutes and then I was off all
So after 30 min of charge your phone still got no led ?
u have to do hard power off "press power button and keep VOLUME UP key pressed for 15 seconds.
Did your xperia Z docomo version ?
hmmm, does flashing firmwares chance or alter the bootloader or radio?
from my understanding the only way to hardbrick is by messing with the bootloader or radio :S
your device may possibly be in a sort of deep sleep or download mode.
To the op, try to open the back with a tork (or watever its name is) screw driver and remove the battery connector and again insert it and closed the phone. Your issue will be solved... Its a bug at nexus 4 too! Both of them hv Same hardware ..

hello,
I have a problem, been playing with lollipop lately, worked fine till I experienced my first sudden switch off and now the phone won't start until it's connected to the usb charger or the dock, once I unplug it it goes off instantly or after a few seconds and can't boot properly (it tries and switch off after a few secs...)
I tried to flash other roms and factory reset , nothing changes...
(i had an issue with the phone being drained entirely and tried to boot several times)
what is strange is that when I'm in recovery it won't stop that way.
what do you think?
I have the same problem!
I am running C6603, Unlocked bootloader, Twrp latest, and cyanogenmod 11 4.4.4
Does anyone know of any kind of solution to this so called " battery bug"?
Sometimes when I use nandroid app to boot into recovery, then reboot to system from twrp (while connected to charger), after adroid has booted I can then only disconnect charger and the phone will stay on for 10min or more if not used. Accessing camera app phone dies immediatly... Seems like as soon as the phone requires more power from the battery the phone dies instantly...
I also used a battery drain app after following reboot steps above and tried running the app while phone was disconnected from charger... As soon as i choose vibrate, cpu or blutooth phone restarts imediatly. While only selecting brightness option phone will stay on for 1 - 5 mins before going off.
Hopefully someone has found a solution or work around... Fingers crossed..!
---------- Post added at 10:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ----------
Oh and one more thing....
While in twrp touch recovery i can use the phone while disconnected from charger.
Only when i try doing a backup in twrp (more power usage required once again) the phone dies.
Hope this helps?
so phone suddenly decided to stop charging, when it went to 0, it never turned on again
had a red led at first then nothing, if i buy a new battery will it be fixed or is it a problem bigger than that?
thanks in advance
Well, it seems that you have a charging issue, and not a battery issue.
I'd say you better take it to Sony Service Center if possible, or try to charge it with dock if you have one around.
Good luck!

ive used a magnetic charger and the microusb charger, neither of them do anything so i thought it would be a battery problem
No its not .If You drained your battery to 0% it make take some time to charge ,Just leave it charged maybe an hour or so even if the red light is not showing .After an Hour it will show up .

yes i have, does it constitute as a battery problem yet? haha
update: oh sh*t, it might because i used a new wire rather than the advice of "use the wire the phone came with", but after 3 continuous days of charging, i got red leds
what's the next move?
edit: when off charging, i held down the power button and got the 3 flashes again
i tried holding power button + volume up, did not get any vibrations, according to other threads, i should connect it to AC and led should be red, led isn't red, gonna just leave it charging for a week on AC and see if my computer recognizes it
I have a similar problem. Basically I've had problems with some roms I've had going so I tried to reformat using flashtool and stock. Got it to work but got to around 10% battery. I then proceeded to flash a new kernel/recovery but it didn't boot anymore and am now stuck with a phone that only shows red LED when charging. What should I do?
P.S. I left it charging all night and it still won't boot up. Reflashed it (NOTE: All my flashes were successful) and no dice. Still red LED.

That happened to my own too. I got it to detect by plugging in my charger and doing a hard rest (Volume up + power button) then as quickly as possible unplug it. Once unplugged, make sure to plug it to your computer in flashmode in the first try.

I don't remember the exact steps cuz it didn't work for me (seems like I have a blown chip or something) so I didn't give it much interest. But I believe it was something like what hakkai said, connect both and as soon as the light comes on hold power + vol up and when it vibrates disconnect the phone and connect it immediately in flashmode then do whatever you want.

does anyone know if replacing the battery gets rid of the problem or am i ****ed no matter what

Sorry about the slow response I have been having problems with power because of a storm. I have installed each rom with at least 80% charge so there should be no problem with that, sorry I can't remember the steps I took trying to flash the last rom but I'm pretty sure it was an original rom so just guessing simple steps through bootloader, the problem is I need charge to be able to reflash a new rom. (the message I get "failed to validate system image Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from mot-charger boot mode" so it wont let me charge )
In some rare occasion while using multi ROM I had problem with battery dropping from 80 to less than 20% and stayed long time (half day) in that low battery state, solution for me was to turn off the phone, let it couple of second off and plug the charger. Sometimes if i did that after the drop starter the charging process starter where it was before

i'm sure theres a forced boot method of plugin into a wall charger with dead phone and holding power button for 2+ mins or something like that - this erases user /data caches to allow fone to try to reboot from scratch - will look it up

I think your battery is dead or some main board failure
