Gear Fit Manager Crushing My Battery? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

with my Gear Watch setup to full sync i never really saw the app high in my battery consumption and it didnt effect my day to day battery life at all.
with my Fit Gear Fit Manager stays at the top at 25% plus and has made a significant impact on my Note 3 battery life. I never had to worry about battery life on the N3 even using it all day for work calls. I would go to bed at avg 30% remaining but with Fit Manager its Saturday at just 5PM and i am already down to 40% with little phone use today.
maybe if others are having this issue we could find some settings to tweak to get the battery life of my N3 back?
thanks for any help.

Same thing is happening to me, only my android services are also way up there.
Did you switch from S-health to Fitness For Gear? I did this, and I'm thinking that may have something to do with it.
For some reason I can't upload my picture.
Sent from my SM-G900T using xda app-developers app

I was using S - Health and just left it alone after switching to Fit Manager BUT S health doesn't work right for me with fit cause my N3 is Verizon and doesn't have needed Kit Kat update for it to upgrade to latest version. Maybe this is my issue and I will try not using S Health at all.
Hoping some others will chime in because on N3 sections that have Kit Kat I have read several posts that Fit Manager hasn't effected their battery life.

I do not see this at all, my device does run Kit Kat (Note 3 on Rogers).
When I purchased the watch I unistalled the old "Gear Manager", install the new "Fit Manager" see no effect on my Note 3

New battery does not hold charge

New battery was drained and fully charged while the phone was off.
Now it drains to 15% after less then 12 hours of average use.
When charger is unplugged the battery imm goes down to 97%
what is the best way to improve the battery performance ?
Don't use it as much
Everything has a work in time, your phone needs to forget about old battery and dance with a new partner. Give it a chance...

Did you get this battery from china?
It probably has like 800mah.
Is there any battery today that does not originate in China ?
It is marked "SAMSUNG G7 1500mah".
I already tried to calibrate the battery about a week ago using a market application that claims to perform a reset of the battery stats.
after the reset I drained the battery for 3 days and recharged while the phone was off every night (during those 3 days).
then for the first few days the battery actually held up nicely reaching 50-60% after 12 hours.
after a week or so it started to drain more rapidly reaching 15-20% in the evening.
It also fails to hold 100% when the charger is unplugged, going straight to 97%.
should I try another battery or is there a another way to calibrate the battery ?
What does your 'Battery Use' say is using most of your battery?

Its still quite possibly a fake samsung battery. Did it come from a reputable seller at least? If yes return it.
Heres an example of battery life with a genuine samsung 1500mah battery

Hey BenKranged
What APP did you use for that screen capture? I know this has nothing to do with this post but looking for one on the market and there are so many to choose from.

Is there a way to identify a genuine non-fake G7 battery ?
That's how mine looks. My battery does seem to drain fast when I am actually using it. But, also when I'm not using it, it seems to keep at a steady battery level for a while. I guess it's a trade off. I also use Juice Defender which definitely helps.
I probably used juice defender for about 4 months. Then I tried running without it and found I got equal or better battery life.

Massive Battery Drain on Reboot

Recently, I've been having massive battery drain on reboots. Is this a calibration issue? I'm currently on the 4/15 build of CM10, but was previously on Slimbean 4.1 2/25 build. It was happeneing on that build as well. It just dropped from 55% to 12% after the reboot...Also, my battery is slightly bloated, it can't really be seen visually, but you can feel it. Are these two correlated? Should I get a new battery?

Your battery is fried, time for a new one, whenever you have swelling, its the number one sign that your battery is dead. Soon you won't be able to use your phone without it being connected to a charger.

I too have had this issue with the SlimBean, I believe it to be from the "Fast USB Charge" function.
Since it has to be replaced anyways, any suggestions for Extended Batteries?

I got this one and its pretty nice:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009PGTUFQ
It's 2050mah so not too much more than stock but still good. I bought it because it doesn't require a special battery cover. Lasts me all day with decent (sometimes excessive) use. And it looks cool in red haha.

Thanks for the info, I've seen that one, but I think that I'm going to go with this one: EZO Power since I'm never very far from a charger. (battery troubles will cause you to carry one or keep them everywhere. LOL)
i have 3 at home, one in the car and 2 at work
Ive just started running AOIP, and I have experienced the massive drain on reboot. so the consensus is its a battery issue?
When ever you have battery issues like that it is you battery. Soon you will notice random reboot accompanied by massive battery drain. Then you will have to have your phone plugged in just to use it, you will also start to notice swelling. I recommend you get another before it gets this bad. Trust me having to have your phone plugged in 24/7 is not fun

[Q] Why does android's standby time suck?

I've used around 5 Android phones (starting from 2.1 now up to 4.3) and for some reason, they all have a pathetic standby time. When I say standby, I mean when you press the power button and it turns the screen off and you don't touch it. Why is android the only OS that has this problem? WP, fine. IOS, probably the best one (only good thing about it).
I've tried different kernels, using no apps from the play store at all, turning off Google's location service, using greenify, and a bunch more. My battery still drops to ~70% at 4:00 starting at 100 at 7:00. When I briefly had an iphone and windows phone, I always was amazed at how my battery was around ~90-95% at 4:00. I know most people actually USE their phone during the day, so its probably not as noticeable.
Does anyone know the real reason for this? By real, I mean the deep down reason for this. Is java just a hog?
I think the main reason is the backround apps that are running. I used my old sensation just as a phone and so I deleted all the apps from it (Facebook, Viber etc.) and the phone lasted 5-6 days on standby with a 1 year old batery. Before I removed those apps I couldnt get 2 days on standby. I think backgrounfd apps in Android are allowed more "freedom" so they use up the CPU while on standby. That is my experience and opinion.

Yeah I thought that, but I said I tried it with no apps installed. Same thing.
Weird, I don't experience that kind of massive stand by drain.
If I turn my screen off or let it time out, my phone can sit for a almost a couple of days before it shuts down - sometimes two full days. This was true with my Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3, and now the One.
So I have no clue what you're talking about, generalizing Android like that.
i disagree
My battery drains 1% every six hours
Proof

I'm generalizing Android because I was talking about "Stock" android. Not what we do here. I really have to find a fix for this. I dont know what I'm doing wrong here.
Mine also has great standby time...

I am talking about stock Android as well. I have had great battery life with my last three phones.
I've had no such problems with "android" in general. Some roms / apps yes. But after fixing those issues it was pretty much what would have been expected / what reviewers/other people get.
I would recommend getting something like gsam battery monitor and let it run at least a day and then post some screenshots. Maybe we can give some concrete advice then.

Gear and 'Sleep as Android'

This is a generic question to Galaxy Gear users...
I have an app on my phone called 'Sleep as Android' that measures my sleep. It currently integrates with Pebble for better accuracy than laying your phone near you while you sleep.
A user posed a question to the developer of 'Sleep as Android' about developing the app to work with Galaxy Gear.
The response from the developer was that perhaps 'Sleep as Android' could be side loaded onto Galaxy Gear directly.
Has anyone here used 'Sleep as Android'?
Has anyone attempted to load this app directly to their Galaxy Gear?
Does it even sound doable???
I am not really interested in a Pebble watch. Pebble has poor reviews and does not appear to be even remotely appealing to me.
On the other hand, Galaxy Gear is something that I could see my self wearing and using.

I went ahead and gave it a try just for you!
I wasn't able to install it directly on the gear via the play store. Some error, so I side-loaded it by installing it on my phone first and using titanium backup's "send latest backup" feature. (you'll need titanium on your Gear as well to restore the backup)
Opens right up and appears to be running smoothly. Maybe I'll give it a go for some sleep tracking. Got a 14 day trial.
Oh, I'm using NULL_ ROM.
I guess you could side-load it using one of the other methods if you don't want to flash. (I've no clue about that stuff, however)

The user interface is kinda tight on the tiny screen, but I haven't had any problems clicking on anything yet!

Dude, you are awesome(x2!).
If you use it during sleep, let me know how it does....
Am sure the sleeping/noise(snoring) graphs and stuff may be hard to read on such a small screen though.
There is an add-on to upload to cloud. I guess I could use THAT to see the graph details, etc..
Yea, I would be curious how this works myself. I suppose since the Gear has motion sensor, it should work for tracking sleep. The only concern I would have is battery drain. I know the app even warns of that and when I used to use this on my old Droid Razr Maxx, I would have it connected to the wall and stretched to the bed whilst on charge. Can't really do that with the goofy arse cradle system the gear has and still wear it. :silly:

Since it's meant to be ran on a phone laying next to you, you could just leave it cradled up next to you. I couldn't sleep with a watch on, anyway. End up rolling over and smacking my wife with it or something... Speaking of that, I wonder if it accommodates for two people in the same bed. Haven't really had a chance to play with it.

Gear Manager causing battery drain

Anyone else seeing extra battery drain from the latest Gear Manager 2.0.14041404?
Appears to be coming from these wake locks in the photo, which appear to be far more time consuming than anything else on my phone. Just not letting my phone sleep properly.

I have nearly the same problem, although it's not as huge as yours:
SAPROVIDERS service had 102x Wakelocks within 9:30 hours and was 8m 46 seconds active.
GOPROVIDERS was only active twice and 4 seconds active.
You know... I was using rom slot 1 and basically just playing around with stock rooted 4.3, xposed framework, and wanam app installed.
After a couple of days of seeing wakelocks and battery drain, I decided to go back into safestrap and just boot into my normal stock slot which is just 4.3 rooted.
Battery drain is gone and the phone is sleeping properly according to CPU Spy.

I actually froze saprovider in titanium backup and noticed the drain started coming from Android OS after that.
I'm not really sure what was the original issue causing the drain. I didn't install any additional apps and was only using Wanam & X Tether modules. Using GSAM Battery Monitor it pointed to the kernel causing the wakelocks which made me start thinking if it was the framework itself causing the issue. Either way... I'm not really missing anything I was using.

OK I've got an SGN3 with a Zerolemon 10000mAh battery that usually gives me 4 days battery. I have a Gear 1. I recently installed the gear manager update and last night I went to bed with 100% battery this morning it was 17%. That is over two normal batteries worth of charge. All taken by saprovider and goproviders. Serious problem this...phone is uprooted and I'd rather not root it, not that I don't know how but it's my main business tool and I'd rather not ...how do I stop this happening?
