[Q] Recovery Boot Problem - Motorola Atrix HD

I have a Motorola Atrix HD MB886. Its GSM unlocked, rooted and has an unlocked bootloader. I want to install a custom recovery and a custom rom, but I cannot get my device to boot into recovery. (Power button + Volume Up) just sends me to a black screen with the android robot and a red triangle with an exclamation point in it. (Power button + Volume Down) does nothing. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can someone help me.
(Also: I have no idea how to enter or use Fastboot mode. Could you explain this to me or link me to a place to read up on the subject?)

i got the same problem..!!!! did you find a solution??

1. You're rooted so go to /system/etc and rename "install-recovery.sh" to "install-recovery.sh.bak"
2. Use Myth Tools to flash recovery (CWM or PhizTouch is included in the tool)
3. Check and Test

[Q] Reboot loop after setting to CPU 1.1Ghz

I had nadlabak CM7 installed on my Milestone, I saw there was a new version so I downloaded that to my SD.
While I'm at it I'm downloading the new OpenRecovery for Milestone and while I'm in OR I see an option to OC to 1.1Ghz. Let's try it ...
Not a good idea it seems since I'm stuck in a reboot loop. I can't get into the recovery menu via the 'normal' way: Hold x while boot, then hold up + camera.
I started with CM7 using the following method since I could never get into the recovery via the normal way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679&page=26
Anybody have any tips ?
Any hidden key I don't know about to get into the recovery menu ?
Any other idea's ?
If your bootloader is older version than 90.78, the actual way to boot to recovery is to hold the camera button while powering-up the phone, not the x key.
My bootloader is 90.78
Any other idea's ?

Proper way is X + power, when triangle comes up, Vol DOWN + camera. I don't remember getting in with Vol UP. But I didn't use the combination for a while, it automatically reboots in AOR for me.
Anyway, if that doesn't work, replace Open Recovery folder and update.zip with new one, reflash the phone via RSDLite, and try again ^^.

Optimus 2X ignoring recovery

I'm trying to get into recovery mode for the Optimus 2X(Stock ROM), but I can't seem to get into it.
I hold down the power button and the volume down button and I don't let go. And always one of the following happens :
1.
It goes into SW Upgrade, and I need to remove the battery.
2.
The LG Loading bar freezes for a bit, and this causes a factory reset on my phone.
I don't understand if I'm doing anything wrong, but from how it looks from my perspective its as the phone is ignoring the recovery mode.
I've looked online and through the forums, but I was unable to find a similar issue.
Does anyone know what i could try?
1. Have you installed CWM recovery, TWRP recovery etc?
2. The correct way boot into recovery is : 1st press and hold vol down button, then press and hold power button and release both once you see the blue LG halo.
If you haven't installed recovery yet, Do that using NVFlash tool. You can find that in Development section sticky!! or just search it!

what are you using to reboot into recovery?
here's the failsafe way to access recovery:
power off the phone, press and hold volume down + power for a few seconds then release to access bootloader menu. press volume down to highlight recovery, then volume up to select it.

strange, are you unlocked and using twrp/cwm or locked and using slapmymoto? if you're unlocked, i'd recommend reflashing twrp/cwm recovery image, sounds like it may be corrupt. if you're locked, i can't help as i haven't messed with any of the locked device stuff.
im on a locked device, used slapmymoto, thanks for trying, can anyone else help?
Why do you need to be in recovery. You should have write protect off already. If you are trying to flash something you can't without safestrap and the zip needs yo be made for safestrap. Just manually move the emails and change the permissions

Press Power + Volume Up at the same time when it shows "no command" (And if that doesn't work try Power + Volume Down )

If the button presses while rebooting to get to where you can select recovery doesn't work... You could try Quick Reboot -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot to reboot into recovery, or open a command prompt on your PC.. and issue the command.. adb reboot bootloader then pick recovery from there.. If those ways also error with that same message you are seeing now, then your phone doesn't has a problem with its recovery partition.
As others have said, if you are rooted with Write Protection disabled (SlapMyMoto v1 thread tells you to run MotoWPNoMo first, to disable write protection, then follow its process), you should be able to go in, rename the old APK, and replace it with the new one (and set the attributes the same) without needing to be in recovery.
Then again, if you rooted with SlapMyMoto .5 (before the MotoWPNoMo was available), or you never did the MotoWPNoMo process that would explain why you want recovery... you're trying to boot to "recovery" so that you can boot with the Write Protection disabled so you can make this change.

Power off your Moto X
Next, boot into bootloader mode by holding Volume Down and Power
At the bootloader screen, use Volume Down and scroll to Recovery, then press Volume Up to select it
Once you rebooted into recovery mode you will see No Command. Hold Volume Up and press Power to show the recovery menu

That almost didn't work for me, till it did.
I was holding down volume up first, and about half a second to a second later the power button (while not having released volume up button). That didn't work.
I pressed both buttons exactly together, and it worked.

Hello,
Before flashing custom recovery, make sure that you have unlocked bootloader. If not, here is the procedure: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Remember to install adb and fastboot on your computer along with Motorola drivers. Minimal ADB can be downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Once bootloader is unlocked, follow below steps:
1. Switch off your phone.
2. Press Power + Volume down button for 5 seconds and then release. You will see a menu with options like Normal Powerup, Recovery, Factory Reset etc. This mode is called as bootloader mode.
3. Now connect your phone to computer and from command prompt run below command
fastboot flash recovery <recovery image file name>
Click to collapse
4. Now power off your phone and start in bootloader mote (see step 2).
5. When you see the menu, press volume down button to navigate the menu to downward size and select/highlight Recovery option.
6. Now press volume up button and your phone shall boot into recovery.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:
After this how to install phillz custom ROM?

cannot run TWRP recovery temporarily

Hi,
I have unlocked bootloader for Redmi 4X. I want to run TWRP onetime to install magisk. When i give "fastboot boot recovery.img", it doesn't boot TWRP. I tried Volume Up+Power button to enter recovery mode. But, no luck. Please help me.
You are using wrong command. use -> adb reboot recovery and then it will boot into recovery mode.
i hope you have TWRP installed already.
if you are on MIUI then shut down your device and press volume up and power button.
next you'll be directed to menu, tap on recovery (options maybe in chinese language but do not worry recovery is written in english language) tap on it.
you'll see two options to choose from, choose blue one and it'll boot in recovery mode.
if you are using custom ROM then shut down your device and press and hold all three buttons together (volume up + volume down + power button) your device will boot into recovery mode.
