Hi all,
I have an HTC Desire C with following bootloader details:
GOLFU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.31.0000
RADIO-1.19.98.02
eMMC-Boot
I had unlocked this device's bootloader using htcdev.com
On connection in windows it show "device not recognised" error. So i tried linux for unlocking. Also in linux adb does not list the device but fastboot does. But now when i tried to flash recovery or erase cache or userdata.
erasing 'all'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.003s
and
sending 'recovery' (4888 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.888s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: image update error)
finished. total time: 0.965s
Is there any solution to flash cwm recovery through linux.I had spent along 1-2 days googling for the solution but no success yet.
Thanks in advance.

If it doesn't say *** UNLOCKED *** you didn't do something right in unlocking the bootloader...
I have just come across this with BOOT Partition whilst starting to S-OFF my device, Have you tried running the S-OFF program?
** Curious why it should state 'erasing all'?! **
What fastboot command/s are you using or AIO/Program?
The only reason I ask this is because I ran the S-OFF exploit and failed with BOOT/ROM types, I have been unable to Erase the BOOT since but could Write to it, Fastboot would report

even though Dev Unlocked, TWRP recovery and SU installed and everything as it should be (and no updates to PC either).
If you have started to S-OFF it could be something that is reset, one thing to try is maybe running the Unlock Token again or flashing CM10 in with it's BOOT and S-OFF.
I take it Recovery is still present and working?

Yes "UNLOCKED" is written above this text in hboot.

I tried many AIO programs namely: unrevoked and revoltionary. But these are windows based programs and the device is not detected by fastboot or adb in windows. I unlocked the device through linux. In linux fastboot lists the device but adb still not. So i'm unable to S-OFF this.
Try to find htc drivers somewhere around here, and try reinstalling them. maybe that will work.

Yes, I had tried installing the drivers with different versions as well v3.x and v4.x. But everytime windows flash the same unregnised device error.
have you tried deleting and re-adding device?
Check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539 to show nonpresent devices and then in device manager click view, show hidden devices.
Then, delete all devices in Android usb devices section, and check other devices for Android adapter, and similar...
After this, restart computer, and try connecting the device again.

Yes in the device manager, the device shows "device enumeration failed" or something similar like error. Also I tried uninstalling all the drivers and install HTC sync as I read somewhere than it installs all the necessary HTC drivers but it doesn't help either. Also is there any way to enable ADB in device as it won't boots up the OS and i can't enable USb Debugging options?
Thanks.
HTC Sync doesn't help, it's better to just install the drivers
Sync (as far as I'm aware) doesn't do too much without your system running, for what you may need to do it'll interfere.
Check in the forum's for drivers for your PC OS

Have you tried running it on someone else's computer (ideally one without any htc drivers)?
Have you tried running the RUU to replace factory software? If adb works after that, maybe it's a bad unlock, or something else...
P.S. Check posts on returning to factory (relocking the bootloader etc...) on forums...

Yes i tried 2 laptops both with windows 8.1 installed but at the end only linux helps for unlocking. Can tell me more about RUU as i have very little idea about this. Is this RUU thing works in linux like ubuntu as it ony detects the device in fastboot mode.
Thanks for ur help..!!

Actually I have tried installing drivers and android sdk as well but of no use till now...!
Have/are you able to try it on an XP system (never had a driver problem unlike Win 7/8) ...install drivers, sdk etc... but DO NOT install sync (I never have to use flashing/hboot)...

I don't really have an idea what could you do from here on, except trying it on XP or windows 7 as Antagonist42 said.. Maybe the drivers don't work yet on newer windows 8.1 systems.
RUU is practically original phone software packed in executable file, but it only executes on windows, though someone could unpack it and manually transfer to the phone on linux too. RUU runs pretty much the same thing that we do with adb and fastboot commands, but it is wrapped in some nice software
P.S. how about using another USB cable??? Maybe this one is broken...

NO I haven't tried windows xp system actually. It seems that I need to boot windows xp virtually as my BIOS won't support it...!
Will it be fine if I virtually try to do all this stuff?
Thanks!

Not worked! Tried on both VirtualBox and VMWare but no success!
BTW Thanks for your time "Antagonaist"
Only other thing I can think to suggest is a recovery in a update.zip from the SDCard ... TWRP or CWM, and see if it works, seeing as this would be a HBOOT run update and not ADB/FASTBOOT update by a user

Hi all
I just got a new 32GB HTC One and have already destroyed it and really need help. Basically I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs my previous phones and they have been brilliant so I thought I would do the same to this one so I did and well...messed it up.
PROBLEM INFO
I have not got a backup image of the stock ROM, I kept it on the phone and it has got deleted when I formatted it. -- stupid I know
I turned S OFF and installed TWRP but when I installed the custom ROM the phone would not boot, it was stuck on the HTC screen and when I tried to access TWRP to reinstall, format, or even access the storage of the phone, the handset would switch off and restart.
So spending all day looking on forums I have finally given up and don't know what to do:crying:. I have tried to look for an RUU to match my phone but cannot seem to find one. I have relocked the bootloader as well (don't know if this is good or bad) and don't think I can unlock it unless you guys know, there is also a security warning on screen.

Sad to say that, but doing s-on on 1.54 was endless stupid.
Maybe fonfuneshop will s-off your phone, than you are good to go.

Too bad your s-off....You can still fix this though! Unlock your boot loader again, and then boot to boot loader. Use hasoon2000 s toolkit to reflash the recovery (or your own method.) then, use start an adb side load in TWRP, and side load a rom from your computer (arhd, stock, etc.) you should be good from here. It may be impossible for you to return to stock because you're s on on 1.54 and there is no stock ruu available. What version of the htc one do you have?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have just unlocked the Bootloader now via HTC Dev site. I can now access ClockworMod Recovery, on the recovery I go onto "ADB Sideload", then on the toolkit "ADB Sideload a ROM" option but get an error message: "device not found" (see screenshot), also in Device Manager "One" reports no drivers but I have installed HTC Sync Manager 2.1.77.0, I have also uninstalled all HTC software and reinstalled but still get this error.
Any ideas how to get passed this?
Thanks once again

You could try one of the other recoveries for the One TWRP or Philz Touch 5 and see if you can mount the USB storage in there then copy the appropriate ROM you want to install on the phone and flash it in recovery. If all else fails you should be able to upload the ROM file using adb and then flash in recovery.

It appears the computer isn't able to correctly identify the adb interface....make sure HTC sync manager is completely uninstalled first. Search on xda for the HTC one drivers without HTC sync (it should be version 4.1 or something

Right, I have put TWRP recovery back on but it was not mounting as a storage devive. I was getting "E Cannot Mount" message every time I tried to do anything and there was no file sizes showing. I have searched for this issue and saw a lot of people with the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2373227
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2404328
However I formatted the phone using TWRP and then restarted the phone back into recovery and file sizes were showing and Hasoon2000's Tool was able to connect to the handset via "ADB Sideload a Rom" option. I have pushed ViperOne_2.7.0 ROM onto my HTC One.
It was taken all day and a lot of time but finally got it to work, I don't think Ill be messing about with ROMS on this phone any time soon
Like to say thanks to all who helped.:cyclops:
After a lot of reading and some trial and error I was finally able to get S-OFF on my Bell (Canada) unlocked HTC One using the universal 0.45 rumrunner. I wanted to change my phone into the Google Edition so I followed the guide and everything went well but I missed the part about flashing the RUU twice and once I got that failed error I assumed it hadn't worked and I manually rebooted the phone. When I booted back into bootloader my phone was on 1.54.0000 instead of 1.55.0000 which it had been on before. The problem is that my computer won't recognize the phone in 1.54 bootloader so i can run my adb commands. I know the drivers are installed properly because it recognizes it when the phone is booted up normally and my adb commands work and I can reboot the bootloader from there but once it goes into the bootloader I can't get it to recognize the device. For reference this is on a windows 8.1 laptop, I also tried on a windows 7 desktop and an older windows 7 laptop with the same results. Is the issue with the HTC drivers not compatible with newer versions of windows? Or do I need to try to find an older version of the drivers that are compatible with the 1.54 bootloader? Or is it something else? Any help to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Once I can get the bootloader recognized I can flash the RUU again and everything should be good to go.
I tried to update to 4.4, but it gave me a blue screen. I can get into TWRP and Fastboot works.
However, it won't read it as USB on my Windows 8.1, but it sees it on my Windows 7 and OSX. I'm trying everything to get some from of OS running on my HTC One.
Please help me. I'm new to this and I'm scared out of my mind!
If you are soff then connect the phone in fastboot mode and run the google edition ruu.
If not Soff, then post your fastboot getvar all output

I have S-Off, so would I have to sideload the ROM from OSX to my phone?
If you have S-off then either run ruu or do fastboot flash ruu.zip.. Look up nik71 guide how to do that.

x.xx.709.x is in your list it should work
My recommendation is to install rumrunner using 32 bit ubuntu. Not 64. No worries about drivers.. you don't have to install ubuntu, just put it on a disk or usb, boot into it and select try instead of install. After days of tryng different methods, computers and versions of windows, ubuntu worked the first time . Rumrunner has a version for ubuntu and instructions on their site

For sure? if it wont , the phone can brick or something?
im on 3.63 and i was able to S-OFF my phone.
So..
I tried to do that and its says after the dots:
ERROR: run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on
Drivers?)
Press ENTER to exit
Drivers installed.
There is ADB Connection.
Debugging on.
1) are you on windows or linux
2) if your on windows make sure you reboot to fastboot first and connect cable so it can install the second driver
3) also watch the phone when its running at one point you have to allow the computer to connect in a higher mode or it will fail and still might but after you allow/accept this mode it should be good to go
I was able to set S-OFF on my ATT HTC One. I would suggest to make sure the drivers you have is the latest.
1. Android SDK - http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2. Search the xda forums for latest compatible driver for your PC. Here's a thread with a collection of windows drivers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089508
3. Make sure to see your phone appear in Device Manager when connected (if using Windows OS).
4. You can also use the following command after the Android SDK "platform-tools" is installed & phone connected: adb devices
Hope this help.
I am having an issue with my phone in fastboot mode. After changing my CID to GOOGL001 from CWS_001, I was in the process of flashing the GPE RUU, but it got interrupted and it was stuck on the HTC logo for a while. I ended up rebooting the device and now it is unrecognized in fastboot, yet it still works in normal mode. In fastboot mode, it is a black screen instead of the normal white screen. I don't think anything is wrong with my drivers because everything was working alright before. Phone is still fully functional and I would like to either change my CID back to normal or continue with the GPE RUU. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I have tried using USBDeview to uninstall all drivers and reinstalled all HTC drivers, but I still cant get it to connect on fastboot. Has anyone had a similar issue with their phone or know what I can do?
