I have greatly enjoyed WhirlEyes' work on the Droid Razr, to multiboot several firmwares on the same device.
Is there any chance of this being ported to the Moto X? Specifically the XT1053?
You'd have better luck working with Tassadar to port MultiRom at this point I'd imagine.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've PMed Tassadar.
Yeah, he's "out to lunch".
You mean BMM? Unfortunately there no sources available.
Why not ask Hashcode for a SS version for Moto X?
Tapped from my RAZR BLADE
I seem to remember that BMM might stand for Boot Menu Manager, but a search on BMM and Boot Menu Manager comes up with zero threads about such.
Maybe SS means Safe Strap. I've always avoided Safe Strap, but if that's what it takes to get multiboot I'll try it.
PMing Hashcode...
Well, Hashcode suggests I try SS to see if it can work on the Moto X in multiboot. But I have several questions.
I have a Dev phone, so I'm not too worried about most things, but my experience on the Moto X is that you don't have to root it, just fastboot flash recovery twrp.img. Then *POP* you're rooted.
Why can't I do this with SS? The instructions say instead that I first have to be rooted, then download SS.apk and install it. Why can't I just fastboot flash recovery SS.img?
Second, I remember there were alot of particularities about SS, like with some ROMs you had to install them in a particular slot. Still true?
Maybe you should try posting in the correct device forum?
OG RAZR XT912 got 4.4 before S4!
Because I keep hoping that someone with expertise in multiboot will come around. No such in Moto X area.

U checked around at DroidRzr.com??
XT912 RaZR SpYdEr CDMA
hit ThAnKs if I was helpful!!!
Question answered: SS does not work on Moto X. Black screen.
And mfastboot doesn't work on Linux either. I don't have Winduhs. Yes I know about
https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B5uAY0sZrRUib0JMZVJGOURzMkU#list
and
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7632904/Mfastboot-4.4.zip
... but it doesn't work.
Code:
# ./fastboot devices
bash: ./fastboot: No such file or directory
{der}
Now I get a scarred-up logo and "Safestrap Disabled" on boot. Hooray for me.
I'm using SS on my Moto X as we speak.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
For me it comes up with the sad robot ("Safestrap disabled") and I hit the Recovery button. The screen goes black for 15 seconds then it comes back to the sad robot. If I don't touch it it boots normally after 10 seconds.

I have been hearing a lot that the DROID 4 and the DROID Razr are very simaliar... If thats true then is there a Possibility that the Razr fastboot files cold work on the DROID 4?
The hardware is identical.....
EXCEPT for the keyboard (maybe the screen, too??). If you have a spare Droid 4 laying around, why not?
For even the above casual user this might be a little much. I haven't had much luck with getting my fully functioning Droid 4 to be recognized by RSDLite.
Although, I do want to know from the developer here, HOW CAN I HELP??
I don't want to just take take take, some of us want to give back.
I bricked my spare Droid 4, and everyone should be really careful with SafeStrap, and backup everything (including the webtop).

Droid RAZR fastboot files would probably work on the Droid 4, IF we had unlocked bootloaders. I have tried every combination of DR fastboot files on the D4 and the /system/ partition is never properly signed for the D4.
We need a full Droid 4 update or Droid 4 fastboot files to get back to working order, the Razr won't cut it.
Without trying to sound too stupid here(lol), but could we not make a stock nandroid backup and dump the image in the fastboot file by chance, and change the md5 inside zip?
The problem is not hardware, but rather encryption. Quite simply, we need a properly signed and encrypted software bundle to load on the locked bootloader. If we could sign and encrypt the bundle ourselves, the locked bootloader would not be an issue. The Droid Razr is a different phone with a different encryption key, so we can't use those fastboot files on a D4. We also can't sign our own Nandroid, so we can't load that either.

The rsd lite cant see my moto x i can only access it thru the fastboot but when i try the rsd way it doesnt see the phone.
Download/find the correct system.img and boot.img for your device, then push/install them via fastboot. You shouldn't need anything else. Recovery, bootloader, and other firmware should be untouched. Only issue is if it's a safestrap device, then I have no clue.

The obvious thing is make sure you have fastboot set up correctly... Drivers as well.
Make sure all drivers are installed, trust me redlite works with a soft bricked moto x, I found out today, my phone was bootlooping, nandroids failed soi wiped the sdcard and realized at that point I did the noob thing, well it worked like a charm rsdlite

i would like to thank all you guys for all the advise that was given to help me bring my moto x back to life i finally got it up and running again using the moto x toolkit it seemed like the only thing that would of work in my situation again thank yall so much :victory::victory::victory:
Who unlocks their bootloader but doesn't know what to do when stuff goes bad, like this?
If you read enough to unlock the bootloader, you should have read enough to know what to do here. Coming here frantic without even checking the eleven billion threads already is silly. We have about 12 threads about the new update and similar high number threads about restoring your phone.
Too many repetitive threads for the Moto X on xda. Some people just need to take 5 minutes and look through general or Q&A before they blindly post. Clutter everywhere.
And finally, dude! I do not have any pity for you. I'm on Verizon and cannot unlock my bootloader maybe that's why I just ranted. Nothing personal, just a general consensus of this section as of late...

Do you have any experience with fastboot? If not, google how to download it for whatever type of computer you have. I'm on a linux machine so its pretty straight forward, but I think its easy on any machine. If you're on windows you'll need the motorola drivers as well. You'll also need a factory stock image for at&t moto x.
After that it's just a matter of flashing the image to your phone and starting over.
I'm sorry, forgot about the locked bootloader. Listen to the guy before me.
If there are any pictures or stuff like that on your phone, i'm afraid those will probably be lost.
I will try to find helpful links for all this stuff, but I just wanted to give you something to look for while I did that.

lnstalling rsdlite now. will update. thanks a ton.
Okay, got it.
1. Go here and download that (hopefully you're on a windows machine):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587
2. then go here and download the AT&T one. The third one down is KitKat, so just go with that, since it's what you're trying to do anyway.
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost_rcica/list.php
3. Make sure you have these drivers installed:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/94931/p/30,6720,8696
Now, go into RSDLite, click on load or open or whatever it says and go to the FXZ from step 2.
Click start.
Should be that easy, let me know if there are any hiccups.
thank you sooo much!

Thank you - it worked -
For some reason VZW wouldn't update my Moto X from 4.2.2 to Kit Kat. I bricked it trying. RSDLite fixed it with your instructions and now I'm on 4.4 Kit Kat.
Thanks!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0dUKGxGylgNTk43eU0xc3VLekE/edit?usp=sharing
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step Two
How to install TWRP/CWM Recovery and SuperSU
Now that you have your bootloader unlocked its time to install are custom recovery and SuperSU so we have Root
Before we worry about that phone please make sure you have installed the SDK and then copied the mfastboot files over to the directory your ADB is in.
also before we put the phone into bootloader mode we need to copy the SuperSU.zip over to are phone
Now that we have all that moved over everything that we need. it is time to get are phone into the bootloader you can do that by turning off your phone, Then turning it back on while holding volume down + the power button.
once into the bootloader plug your USB cable in and set your phone down.
now we need to open a CMD window and CD to the directory ware we placed the MFastBoot files.
this is my location but i use the Moto X toolkit yours is going to be ware ever you install the SDK
so in the CMD window type the command below but change the path to ware your files are located
Code:
CD C:\Program Files\stillthisguy\Moto X Toolkit
now that we are in the right location it is time to install TWRP/CWM we are going to do that by typeing the commands below
Code:
mfastboot flash recovery twrp-2.6.3.1-ghost-4.4.img
or what ever the name of your recovery img is
as soon as you type the above command to flash TWRP/CWM we need to boot the phone into recovery before we let it boot to android we can do that via the buttons below.
click the Volume - button until it highlights Recovery then press the Volume + button to select it and it should boot into recovery.
If you do not immediately boot your phone into recovery after you flash it, recovery wont work.
here is a step by step that might help everyone abit
Now click on Install and find your SuperSU.zip that we copied over and click on it and install it. when it is done installing you can reboot your phone and enjoy having root access.

I got mine during the Cyber Monday sale for the same price as the normal non DE version. I bought from Motorola to keep my VZ unlimited data.

can i flash the recovery, boot and logo from Droid turbo and then to flash system images from Moto Maxx??
or it wont work because of different models of Droid?
i guess you will brick your phone...
That will definitely not work. They are different devices and firmware is not interchangeable like that. Plus, the Droid Turbo doesn't have root yet so there is no way to flash anything like that anyway.

Root is not needed to flash, unlocked bootloader is needed. Which is unavailable according to Motorola.
Source: flashed lollipop on my Moto G without root, but did need to unlock bootloader.
