Is the Chromecast you cannot mirror to on the same firmware version as the other one?

I did not use any application, since neither is motorola device or the chromecast are modified, the chromecast has a serial number 4211, the question is why that works, since other users with the same model and services Google Play , it does not work.
You have in the topic, data and video to understand that no app is not used. I have my nexus 5 in the mirror application and does not behave that way.

Hmm, this is interesting because right now the only reason not all chomecast's can do this is because google has yet to push the app configuration to chromecast devices. It is possible that you connected your device just at the right time for it to cache the configuration for the application. That, or google has casting enabled for other region devices.

I have a Nexus 7 2013 and a Moto X. After reading this I connected my Chromecast and went into cast screen on my Nexus. Surprisingly, it saw the chromecast, but when I clicked it, it said failed to connect. I have since rebooted both my tablet and chromecast and cannot get the nexus to see the chromecast at all, but it did see it as a casting option for a second. Moto X wireless display never once saw the chromecast.
I am on the latest team eureka rom on my chromecast, as well as clean rom on my nexus 7, if that matters. I am in USA
Edit - I now got my Moto X to find the Chromecast the same way, with the same result, connecting to chromecast has failed

First thing to determine here is whether the mechanism is native Android 4.2+ Miracast, or Koush's Mirror app.
I believe at Koush was planning to include Mirror in CM at some point, so if the device(s) are running CM or a ROM based on CM, they might have inherited Koush's Mirror from that.
From the screenshots, looks like Koush's Mirror, which AFAIK does not require a rooted Chromecast - just a rooted 4.4 device, though Koush had planned for root not being a requirement in the future (maybe the baked-in-ROM version doesn't require root?).

So I have Chromecast US version, I'm not at home now, so i can't tell you right version...
On Moto G i have Google Play services in version 4.3.25 (1117461-036) and on Nexus7 4.3.25 (1117461-030). Maybe that's reason why is not working for me...
I also tested Mirror app, then I can see my Chromecast on my devices, but when I try to cast, then Chromecast screen stays black....

Nexus7 UMTS-Stick extern working

Hello!
Yesterday evening i managed to connect my external UMTS-Stick ( Huawei , free gift from Alice /O2 Provider in Germany ) via OTG Kabel
xxx.amazon.de/gp/product/B0090N2FBA/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00
to my Nexus7.
Stock Rom, Android 4.1.1, rooted.
I used the app PPP Widget. ( xxx.draisberghof.de/android/pppwidget.html )
Everything worked like a charm.
I hardly found informations about Nexus7 working with this app, so i just wanted to spread the good news.
If someone needs information about the exact hardware version of this Huawei stick, i could post information later on.
As far as i tested, all applications got working internet connection.
Greetings.
Great news. Does the app need root or will it work on an unrooted device?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Root access is mandatory....
So far with the OTG USB cable i`m able to access my pictures directly on SD-Card in my EOS 1100d Canon Camera with Sticky Mount ( Play Market ), connect a USB 3.0 NTFS 32 Gig Stick and , as described, use an external UMTS modem.
So a few good reasons for Root.
Cheers.

i was hoping you'd correct it that way, as i have the same stick, unlocked since last week. works perfectly with my multisim and my 5gb plan
two drawbacks, no pin support (don't like to have my sims unlocked, but meh), and disconnect doesn't work, but you can always just unplug it.

You are right about the umts but I think the latest version of Media Importer supports NTFS.
Another alternative to having a usb stick hanging off the device is to use a pocket wifi portable modem. Be useful for just a data card but 4 hour battery life in use might be an issue when on the go.
Since all my mobile data is on my phone plan I'll stick to tethering..

Looking for a list of non-manufacturer-specific apps available in the Google Play store that won't install/run on the Google Nexus 7.

Gotta wonder what it is about this Android app that makes it work on a Google TV (running Android) and not a Nexus 7 tablet.
I've seen Amazon Instant Video working via a PS3 (non Android) on a non-Google TV. Too bad there isn't a Google Nexus 7 compatible app in the Google Play Store to do the same thing.
In time, Amazon will learn to do it the Netflix way, and it might actually work on the Nexus 7.
Have you read the user comments on the Play Store for this app?

The moto x under settings has two ways to connect wireless displays 1) cast such as chromecast and 2) wireless display which is miracast.
I've a thread for miracast connection method not working. To use enable wireless in setting of display , enable wireless display on phone and search for device once found select and follow connection instructions. With mine when TV tries to complete connection to phone it fails.
At the moment im very disappointed in that no one on this forum and motorola support forum has provided an answer to my problem.

I have an lg tv, it doesn't work with it. Yet it works with every other TV I have tried. It most likely is the connection type/software the lg is running. If the phone works with every other brand, but not one particular brand, it most likely is not the phones fault, but rather the LG TV. Its unfortunate, but not every manufacturer will make their equipment compatible with everyone else. Whether it is an LG, motorola, or combined issue...it doesn't make the phone any less of a great phone.
Right thanks, what couldn't understand is that the lg is WiFi certified as is the moto. So being certified is not an assurerity of device connection.

True. I have had problems in the past with my lg tv connecting or staying connect to wifi certified devices that are from brands other than LG. Hopefully LG fixes this with a firmware update, but I won't get my hopes up.

Trust me, the feature is in the firmware, it just needs to be enabled as an available app through googles whitelist.
ummm mirroring works for me using the cast screen button. i even uninstalled mirror and allcast just to be sure it wasn't an app that was doing it.

Correct. Thus why it works for me on my Eureka Chromecast but not my stock Chromecast.
17250 no worky for me.
Android L now has a dedicated "cast display" option.
It seems to be working great on Eureka 17250! Lag is quite minimal while casting, I am surprised on how smooth it is.
Great addition to the Chromeast for sure!

Edit: I tried to cast a game and the audio wasn't going very nicely.
Also if I press the standby button, the N7 will not wake... unless I unplug the chromecast.

Amazon prime video not working

Hi Guys,
For an unknown reason, Amazon prime video doesn't seem to want to work on my Note 8 (works flawlessly on other android and Samsung devices I have). Everytime I start a video I get an errorstating "Decryption failure".
Another thread in the S7 forum suggested renaming a system file but I'm not rooted and don't intend to for the moment.
Anybody else seeing the same behaviour ?
Any solution not requiring root ?
Thanks

After several tries with the old Amazon apps, I tried with the latest from Samsung's App (3.0.212.4821 from... today apparently !!) and it works so far.
Google Play suggests updating to 3.0.212.4841 (22nd of september) but i'll keep with the Samsung approved one until I figure out why it didn't function properly.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

Still not working with the suggested version ( 3.0.212.4821 from Samsung App Store). Any ideas?

Hi Guys,
After a month of testing, I isolated my problem : Amazon Prime Video works perfectly well on my Galaxy Note 8 alone. Problems start when I try to use the HMDI connection : I want to watch my movies on a big screen using the USB-C to HDMI cable. It works perfectly well with everything else, but systematically causes an error with Amazon Prime Video latest updates. Only by reverting to very old apk versions am I able to use it with HMDI connection.
Any ideas ,
Thanks
I tried everything and downloaded one from Galaxy app store as well. It still doesn't work on my note 8. Please help. I just bought a one year subscription
Just checked casting, get sound but no video. b.s. copyright sh*t !?
Older version worked casting to chrome cast. But using screen mirroring to Samsung TV got video, but audio on phone not tv, which might be nice for night time viewing.
Sent from my SM-N950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Works fine on my Note 8.
I just got the Note 8 and Prime Video only works about half the time. The other half, it spins like it's loading but never loads. The interesting thing is that all other video streaming apps become unresponsive as well (Hulu, YouTube, ect) after Prime Video. Any solutions so far? I'm using version 3.0.205.34141
I'm in the same situation as the OP. I eventually got HDMI-out working on my Galaxy S8 (5-yr old phone) with a very old prime video APK, and possibly (I can't remember) doing the file rename mentioned at this XDA thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/amazon-prime-video-decryption-failure.3603573/page-2
2 problems:
A.) When mirroring to a TV via HDMI on the Galaxy S8 (phone), the resolution and color of the video playing are worse on the TV than on the phone (example, I'll have downloaded full HD content, like 4GB for a movie, and it will look fantastic (like 1080P or better) playing on the phone, but looks noticeably worse (like 240p or maybe 480) on the TV. .... because of this, I purchased Samsung's newest tablet, with confirmed HDMI-out ability.
B.) So, on the Galaxy Tab S8 (Tablet --latest samsung tablet in 2022), I'm getting the "decryption_error" message as soon as I connect to a TV via HDMI cable. I don't plan to root it, so can't rename that file referred to in the other thread..
Questions:
1. Are others seeing the poor resolution after going to the trouble of getting HDMI-out working? (as in #A above).
2. Did others have any luck fixing the "decryption error" by changing to a newer HDMI cable? (changing cables sounds fishy, and this answer found elsewhere on the internet is the amazon helpdesk equivalent of 'reboot the computer')
Please let me know. I may go to the trouble rooting the tablet, but only if others have gotten HDMI-out at full, HD/UHD resolution to a TV.
