I had a similar problem with my phone.
What I did was instead of trying to get into recovery, I just went to fastboot and flashed the recovery image again and it work.
You may want to try that. (Flash the custom recovery again).
He cant do that, dont try flash recovery, your bootloader is locked, it wont work.
Hold volume down and power button, you will see home and back flash at the bottom, just keep holding till your phone goes off, then hold then volume down only as the phone restarts, should take you into the bootloader.
What did you do to get it stuck in a boot loop ?

I seem to have a similar issue. The problem is that I do not have enough time to select recovery (nor any other option) from the bootloader menu. The phone reboots again before I can choose and confirm my selection. Any pointers?

You have bootloop in the bootloader? If yes then you have a serious problem, probably hard bricked.
Hi All,
I need urgent help.. i have recently bought a pre-owned htc one M7 from a buyer. while installing the software update (4.06.1540.3 ) the phone goes into some white screen and following appears:
I m not aware if the seller has done something wrong with the phone bcz i m not aware of software language & how can i install the update..
your help is highly appreciated.. thanks

FASTBOOT AC
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
The tampered thing is nothing to worry about, it just means that the bootloader has been unlocked.
You might want to look into getting S-OFF by following one of the guides here on xda.
But it sounds to me like you are in the bootloader, you should be able to use the volume buttons to select recovery to enter TWRP or CWM.. in recovery mode you can flash the software update if it's a ROM that you found here as a zip file.. There are many guides around to do all of this, good luck.
Edit: Press volume down twice to select bootloader then hit the power button. Then you should see another menu with an option for recovery. Are you rooted? Do you have a custom recovery installed? If not, I'd recommend downloading TWRP.
I notice there it says fastboot AC, is that whilst its plugged into the wall charger or your computer ?
Thank you so much for ur prompt reply.. I am actully not well versed with this.. i just thought of installing the update (OTA) but the screen appeared and it couldn't be done..There were 3 options to select from: Reboot/Reboot bootloader or power down.. Using the vol button i just clicked on reboot and phone went back in previous state
i am worried whether i would be able to install the official updates and how to get rid of this..i could also locate supersu app which is prompting me to run custom/normal recovery.. i don't know if i shud do anything from there..
i m novice to all this and don't know even a bit on this..this is a pre-owned phone & i have no idea what the seller has done..
i just want to run on official updates without getting into all this trouble..
your reply will be highly appreciated.

Hi all,
Got a HTC One. After a regular system update, the phone rebooted, showed the HTC logo, then a black screen with a phone and a red triangle and exclamation mark.
I've got into the Boot loader screen (Power+Vol Down), and try to boot into Recovery, but when I select that option, it reboots straight back to the red triangle/exclamation mark.
I figured, fine, do a factory reset, so I did that, and it spent a few minutes on a screen with a green circular arrow, then rebooted but then hung at the HTC screen (the first thing that appears when the phone is turned on), and sits there for hours.
Power Off/reboot just hangs at the HTC screen.
I've been reading guides on how to flash a new ROM, but they all seem to rely on booting into Recovery, which I can't do. I've installed the Android SDK and used ADB, but it doesn't detect the phone (when it's sitting at the boot loader menu, or anywhere.
Original phone ROM was branded from Telstra Australia.
From the Bootloader screen:

If your phone is new, then send it back under warranty

The ota installation failed, probably because a missing or corrupted file in /system or in /data/preload. you could have entered the menu (vol+ and power) to see the exact error, but now its to late

This red triangle IS the stock recovery, you have to hold volume + and push power then release both button to open the menu.

Yes you can, but you need a CUSTOM recovery to flash roms (TWRP recovery). will not work with a stock recovery

ADB can only work when the phone is booted in the OS or when booted in a custom recovery. from the bootloader, only fastboot commands will work

If you don't care about the warranty, unlock the bootloader, flash twrp recovery 2.6.3.3 and flash a custom rom.

Ahh. I've looked at heaps of guides on using stock recovery, and I've never seen this mentioned before.
Phone isn't under warranty. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Hello,
Co-worker of mine has an HTC One M7 and it stopped functioning last night. It's fully stock. Never been unlocked, rooted, or had any custom flashes done to it. I also have an M7 that I've S-Off'd, rooted, and flashed custom radio's, ROMs, etc. so I'm familiar with how the device works.
I'm a little stumped on this one though. I can get the phone to go into HBOOT menu by pressing power and Vol down. Once in the HBOOT menu I can use the Vol up and down to move through the selections, but as soon as I press the power button the whole thing freezes and won't respond.

When it's on the HBOOT menu and I have it plugged in via USB2 to my computer I have tried running the "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" commands, and nothing shows up. Pressing the power button on "FASTBOOT", "RECOVERY", or "FACTORY RESET" or any of the other options on the screen causes the phone to just get stuck there.
Any suggestions / help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Bump...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This part only is more than enough to tell that its probably an hardware defect. Without a working bootloader, there is nothing to do. Sorry.
My T-Mobile M7 did something like this right before it completely died, except it would reboot when trying to get into recovery.
If it's one of the GSM variants, pull out the SIM card while the phone is on. Turn it off, stick the SIM card back in, turn it on and see what comes up.
If it says to enter your password to unencrypt the memory, go back and see if you can get into recovery mode to reset the phone.
Odds are it's probably toast, though.
i have just had the exactly same problem.... are you guys sure there is no solution??
PD. if i send the phone to the SAT will they try to charge me?

If your bootloader freeze, there is nothing you can do, Its like trying to boot a computer with a non-working BIOS. Without the bootloader, you can't access anything.

If your phone is not under warranty anymore then yes you'll have to pay to have it repaired, like for any other broken products without warranty.
I have HTC ONE m7 . (international) (rooted and has TWRP recovery)
i restarted my phone and i am stuck up in bootloader now.It shows tampered , unlocked, s-on (hboot1.61) and recovery, fastboot, factory reset options....i can use volume up button to access these options but my power button isnt responding which is stopping me to get into recovery mode.
I can just use the phone in safe mode.
Please help me get out of this problem!!!
Help appreaciated. Thanks !
Did you install any new apps or modify your phone in anyway before this happened? Or did it happen on its own for no apparent reason?
From what I understand the power button works normally except when you're at the bootloader.
Can you do a factory reset? There's no guarantee it'll work, so I wouldn't do it if you have sensitive data stored on your phone. But if you don't might be worth a shot.
can you get into fastboot?
