Hello,
I had recently upgraded a Lumia 928 to 8.1, but was having issues with exchange email. I wanted to reflash the ROM on it (like I have done a hundred times)... but this time the app crashed and it happened early on. The phone is no longer responding to anything I do. I have tried soft resets, hard resets, etc with no luck... it seems toast. I am guessing the bootloader is hosed, is there any way for me to fix this... could a shop fix this?
One other thing to note... when I plug it into a PC I see the QHSUSB_DLOAD device with no detected driver
Thanks in advance
Andy
A Verizon Repair Center might be able to fix it. They'll most likely just give you a refurbished one though. We don't have QUALCOMM roms for any windows phones....

thanks for the reply, I looked it up on the nokia site it is still under warranty, so it is headed back to Nokia now. Figure they will be able to take care of it better then any Verizon store would be able to.

I've got a fault with my T-mobile branded Vario 3/Kaiser and I've got them agree to exchange my phone. I've got to give them my old phone and they'll give me a "brand new" phone. I'm guessing this is actually a refurb but i dont care.
What should I do to clean my phone before they get it?
I can't do anything via USB as the usb part is broken hence the replacement.
Cheers.

do a hardreset.
And incase you don't know what a hardreset is:
You get to it by tapping >> Start >>> Settings >> Systems > Clear Storage or you could have searched but here's your answer

You don't mention it but if you flashed any roms/spl's/radio's than you are going to need to revert your device back to the t-mobile rom/radio/spl before returning. These things can be done from the sd card so even if your usb port is broken you are still not SOL.

I don't think I need to revert it back to standard I just didnt want to leave all my contacts on it in a easy to view format. I know with data recovery software anyone can do it but its just personal preference.
T-Mobile were meant to send me the phone today but its happening tomorrow. Basically i get a new body, no battery, no stylus etc. I just give the UPS delivery guy my old phone and he gives me a new one.
If they get it back and comment on software on it they can do a funny run
Thanks people. I didnt realise about the hard reset. I did it using the softkeys.
the IMEI is changed but i don't know why!
the original IMEI is 35175xxxxxxxxxx but now 004900xxxxxx0000.
WHO can tell me [email protected]@
now i can't download the Apps successfully from Android Market.
when i click the apps, they will just present "start downloading..."
yet, it won't install the apps.
i just back home from samsung customer service centre.
the staff told me that i was changed the software of the main board of the phone.
if i wanna fix the phone, i need to pay (2000 hong kong dollars ~ 255 US dollars) to change the main board and to wait more than one month.
WHO can really help me!!!
I don't want to pay.so expensive!!
Can I fix the problem??
i need your hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you install Froyo?
Nothing you can do. However, if you only ever used kies for updates, they shouldn't be able to do that. But your phone is under warranty, so the charge is a bit funny (there might be a charge, but it shouldn't cost THAT much)
He most likely installed froyo beta, do a search as theres a few threads and fixes for it.

IMEI is changed so the warranty will cancel automatically.
The only time i've seen when people got their IMEI switched is when they installed the leaked ROMs from Korea
if you didn't do it, then some body else did, or your got might have been swapped when you didn't noticed or something along the line
the IMEI doesn't change on its own, there is no download able android market software that can do that, as it's againts the law to begin with, and 2 it voids the warranty, and 3 you can be charged of criminal theft for cloning somebody else IMEI etc, etc
so yeah, thes no way that was done via download able software
it had to be plugged in to a computer usin Odin or something along the line, or maybe Jtagged to be able to change that sort of thing
Did you buy the phone from some body else?
Just wanted to let those who have accidentally (fully)bricked their phone, like I did, know that they are repairable with the jtag methood. So instead of throwing them away a jtag is a better option.
I damaged my bootloader whilst installing rspl/hspl, the information that I was following was unclear and I to inpatiant to read it carefully. Phone was still working though after that. Few weeks later I bricked it compleatly whilst flashing the firmware, hoping to fix the broken spl.
I couldn't find anyone in my country that has a Riff box, so I just ordered one for my self. There are some skills needed, but it's fairly easy. The Riff-box flashed the phone with a standard radio and working spl, and after that I could install a Rom of my choosing. Everything is working perfectly again. The riff box can also unlock the phone and make it "super Cid" so it will accept any Rom. Even change the IMEI number, not that theres anything to gain from that.
Im not selling this box or advertising. Just wanted do let those with fully bricked phones know, that it's not compleatly over
I can also share my experiance with the Jtag, if anyone is having trouble with it. I had some troubles at first, but they all got solved.
i have HD7 with same problem, what can i do? not connected with usb on boot loader
If You have completly damaged bootloader, only JTAG can help You.
I think We shoul make some sticked thread where anyone can find someone with JTAG device in near place. What do You think abut it?
Hoping this isn't my only option, but if it is, is there anyone willing to fix mine for a nominal fee? I'm really just trying to get the darn thing working and sim unlocked so I can sell it and it is bootlooping in USB host mode...

You need a Jtag Flasher .. (like Riff mentioned above)
Dissemble the phone and solder the Jtag pins
the pinout for HD7 can be found by searching google for HTC HD7 Jtag (image search helps better)
If you cant get a Jtag Flasher or If you dont have the skill to open and solder Jtag wires .. you need to take it to a service shop for repair

If your bootloader is working then you dont need riff (for sim unlock I dont know)
you should be able to flash it with a new rom to get it fixed.
But if the bootloader is broken, hard reset doesnt work and usb host mode wont work either then I think the riff jtag option is the best solution. It will certanly sim unlock the device. But if it's the T-mobile usa version, I wouldn't want to use it on any othe network, because of their special 3G frequency. (I could be wrong) The phone will then only have 2G speed or of course WiFi at home.
If you are besed in USA, then this service could do it for you.
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/htc-hd7-jtag-brick-repair/
their price is $40 plus shipping. (riff box costs $150).
I dont know them, only found them with google when I was deciding what to do about my phone.
And thought their website looked legit.
Sounds nice.
I don't want to buy a Riffbox myself, so I'm wondering... anyone in the north of sweden got one that could help? For a fee ofcourse.
Hi Guys, i need your help i bought a samsung focus s and it is still stuck on demo mode, does anyone know how to take it off demo mode. I've tried holding the camera button, lower volume an power button together but it hasn't made a difference. And i went to the about option and theres no option to reset factory settings. I've even emailed samsung and they told me to contact windows as it is their software. This is really frustrating, because the guy who sold me the phone well he doesn't know what to say they only had the one, I had read (You should return the phone because it seems you have bought a demo device and not a retail device, also another person said, I'm sorry to say that demo devices are loaded with different software from retail devices, so it will not be possible to get the device into a 'normal' mode unless you have the technical skills to flash the 'phone with a fresh ROM (see xda-developers.com). I wouldn't normally suggest this, but it sounds as if your vendor may have (perhaps conveniently for them) disappeared from the picture. Note that if you do flash the handset you must be prepared to lose all support from Microsoft, the 'phone manufacturer, and your carrier. In particular you will get no support here on Microsoft Community) and thats ok I'm with the prepaid thing anyway...Any Help is Good help
Thank You

sorry to say my friend but your probably out of luck, there is no ROM for us to flash, official or otherwise, we have no modified boot loader to make our own ROMs and there isn't any update cabs to update you to the correct ROM.
the only thing that I can think of is perhaps some registry entry that can be changed, but you would need to dump your reg and email it over.
but to be clear, I don't know of anyone getting them working, its proabably the same device being passed about, if you got it through ebay I would raise complaint if your unable to speak to the original seller
note that even if you can change the device in to a retail device with the use of a reg entry, you still cant change the ROM version so cant update it
Hi, i am really frustrated right now. i have an s21 ultra(sm-g9980) hong kong version. Been using this phone for months now with everything working smoothly. i recently received the recent security update for the phone and i updated it. thats where my problem started. after the update all of a sudden i cant receive any service at all from my sim cards. The phone displays a sort of "no entry" symbol at the top. i have tried everything. From resetting the networks to hard resetting, all to no avail. Even sent it to a local repair shop and they couldnt tell what the problem is. The imei is visible and the phone can recognise that there is a sim card in it, however, it still displays no service. this has made me really frustrated as i cant seem to figure out what the problem is. Also, i should add that however i did have a problem with my usb port which was fixed and replaced before this issue started after the firmware update. Do you think this issue is connected to the usb i had replaced? Saw a post which said something about the antenna and the usb connector being on the same daughterboard. Could this be the problem? Would really apprecaite it if anyone could help me out. thanks
Try another sim card.
