I have what I hope is a quick and simple question. I recently purchased a lightly used Developer Edition and have been going through the steps to unlock the bootloader. Everything seems to work as one would expect, except that I never get the email from Motorola with the unlock code. I called Motorola and talked to their Level 2 support, which did not impress. They seemed to think that it would take up to three days to get this unlock code email, which seems a little absurd, especially as there is no indication that I can find on Motorola's web page that it should take so long. So how long should it take for me to get this unlock code email?
Check your junk mail. When I unlocked mine, it went to my junk folder. I requested code on a Friday, but did not receive it till the following Monday.

Thanks! I checked those folders, but will continue to check over the next few days. The Moto website did not seem to provide info on how long it would take to send said code.
-- UPDATE --
Started drilling down into all of the folders on my gmail, only to find that (a) the code was send three hours after my request, and (b) it was not in the "junk" or "spam" folder, but in the "promotions" folder. How strange. Giving it a try right now!

Bootloader unlocked, phone now rooted, running migration process. Almost there!
I think when you unlock via the website it does tell you it can take up to three days to generate the code. I got mine within a few minutes. I just think it depends on how many requests they get.

I paid unlockitnow.com for an unlock code for my g1 3days ago, and I have yet to receive anything!!! I haven't gotten any response from the many email tickets I've sent either. On the site it says it only takes 6 to 24hrs for delivery, but i'm past that point. My imei number for this phone is MOD EDIT and the only reason I chose this service is because I thought it would be faster than contacting Tmobile and wait for them to send me an email. If anyone knows how to get results from unlockitnow.com, or have a better idea as to how I can get this thing unlocked, I'm all ears. THANKS
this has NOTHING to do with development of the G1. If you post in the general section you might get more of a response.
Q, why pay for an unlock code when all of the info is here on how to unlock your g1 for free? lol
I've been looking
I've been looking all over the site, but there is so much information on a lot of different things, I tend to get lost. Please point me in the right direction PLEASE! I'm not new to unlocking phones, but this one is something totally different.

This is a SIM unlock....not an unlock to be able to root and install modded ROMs. But, regardless, this should not be in the Development forum. It would be good if this thread is moved.
You can get the unlock code from tmobile for free,
Please read.
Mod please move this thread.

why bump this?

your beat dude should never pay for something you can get for free. and why is it xda's problem cause you went to an unauthorized site to unlock your phone when you could get one after 90 days for free from t-mobile?
you don't even have to wait 90 days
just call cust. service, tell them you need your phone unlocked because your going to europe/asia/wherever..international, and your trip is in a week or 2, they'll ask for your IMEI, and in a few days (I've always gotten it within 24 hours) you will have your unlock code.
just make sure they wrote down the correct IMEI, with my last phone they ****ed the numbers up and I had to find a supervisor to get my request through since once you request an unlock code you can't ask get another request for 90 days.
I never understand why people go through those unlock sites when you can get the code straight from your provider, it may take a bit of social hacking but that's not hard at all.
just to let you know how easy it was i called t mob for mine yesterday and it went like this
me: hello i would like to get a sim unlock code for my g1
rep: please hold let me get you to the right department
me: thank you
2nd rep: how may i help you

Actually, i am at work now so i don't have the usb cable. I was searching for support for right to left languages in WP7 such as Arabic, but i found this topic which confirm that we can install any third party app without requiring a Marketplace developer account. could anybody confirm..?

It doesn't work on my HD7.
I installed the cert, but it can't connect to the phone.
It does see if it's locked or not, however.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
oooops i already have the same at home Win 7 X64. so, i have to try on X32 version.
: )
I tried on W7 Ultimate 32 bit aswell, it gives an error immediately.
On 64 bit I get an error after I click on Update
they have discontinued their developer unlocking tool.
I tried on a 32bit pc, didn't work.
It chucks the error as soon as the program starts.
I also tried in safe mode, but Zune can't connect to the phone.

Unlock issue and fix
I was posting onto a thread a few days ago but it has been locked now so thought Id post the fix I found in the end.
The problem
I bought a t-mobile hd7 from a store in California and wanted to unlock it for use in the uk. Unfortunately htc hadn't published the IMEI code so no website could unlock it.
Solution
I went to allot of different sites recommended on here and eventually googled http://www.cellunlock.net . They also could not unlock my phone but offered to find an unlock for me in 3-20 days. 3 days later they came through with a code and my device is now unlocked.
I hope this helps people!
This code from Crackberry.com will give you a %50 discount by the way - DSC-23
not sure if it will still work but it brings the price down to the same as other sites
3 days to unlock a phone is too long

they told me a week, I had the email the next day (for my hd2, not my hd7).
I am told that if I buy a HTC HD7 on an o2 simplicity 30 day contract then contact o2 to say that their signal is too poor where I live they will unlock it for a fee.
Can anyone confirm this?
I live in the UK in a known poor signal area.
well its workin now. hmmm actually i am planing to explore my device i mean the files, and trying to add other keyboard layout i mean Arabic.
What can jailbreak/unlock do besides the network/sim unlock? Can it provide access to things like in the iPhone to cydia and installous where we can get free apps or is it a WIP? Either way I was looking at chevron wp7 jailbreak tool. What does that do? Sorry abt the noob questions.

it developer unlocks the phone so you can install side loaded unofficial apps. Up to 10 apps at the moment (I think). Right now there are not many unofficial apps out there.

Hi, does anyone know if this is a genuine quote from Julien Schapman, seems to have shelved his jailbreak device manager.
Because I was bored getting hundreds of emails from people asking me to send them WP Device Manager so they can continue to use pirated applications, and because there will be a short term solution for homebrews, I decided not to include my jailbreak tool. I respect other developers and I don’t want to be responsible for piracy, I’ve been contacted by Brandon Watson from Microsoft and I wish to be involved in the official homebrew support on Windows Phone.
Thanx.
I think users need to rise up and demand source code from Motorola. The one has been out long enough, and there is nothing on their Sourceforge site about it. Also after it comes out, be sure to test what they updated. They have a bad habit of uploaded stuff that is either corrupted, or missing files.
If you get me an email to send something to, I can write something up that each of us can send.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
If you want to do it officially you have to actually use snail mail. There is address mentioned somewhere.
They have somewhat responded on the forums of Sourceforge, though as I said there isn't a section for the Droid 3 yet. You could also try the Motorola Forums, and word might get through the grape vine.
A trick I have used once before with a cable company was to go through the press releases on their website, collect all the e-mail addresses, and e-mail them all the same message.

I say we hire Lulzsec to hack Motorola and leak the boot loader keys and sbf files for all phones possible. did I just say that?
Either that or try to get them to crack the boot loader or obtain root.....
I'm just saying....they seem very good at this stuff.

Hello all,
A long time ago if you recall I gave away G+ invites. Some people didn't get it, and I really didn't want to type those emails again. I snooped around the "Notifications" area of G+, and I found a loophole to get in. I tested this on a different account, so I know it works. For me at least.
Simply navigate to this link:
https://plus.google.com/_/notificat...q6PPBddlXk0yrYVa8Jg-N23Yx0ukukHw6tO0qIbNM5qus
And you will see one of the following pages:
1. Sign in with your Google account - do just that.
2. Big G+ page with a Sign in button - click that
3. Something totally different - post here and say it didn't work, I''l find a new link.
Again, I tested it so it should work. If not, like #3 says, post here with a screenshot of the page you get. No flaming, please.
Thanks!
"Google+ is in limited Field Trial
Right now, we're testing with a small number of people, but it won't be long before the Google+ project is ready for everyone. Leave us your email address and we'll make sure you're the first to know when we're ready to invite more people."
Yesterday I saw "You have 150 invites!" in Google Plus, and when you signed into Google it invited you right in. shrug
Weird, I was never invited, but I'm using G+...weird I iizzzz confuzled...

Remarkable. Worked for me just now, despite checking mere minutes before to find out the registration was closed, even to those with an invite.
thanks!
Worked Great Thanks
Went to the moto site and entered in all of the code, checked multiple times but says ineligible...does this happen to others?

If you search this Q&A section, you will find plenty of topics about this, including one that's only about four days old.
What the guy above me means to say is if you read the unlock bootloader page it states to wait 24-48 hours after having the phone. Either that or you put in the coding wrong
