[Q] How to check if New or Refurbished - Verizon LG G2

I bought a "New" Lg G2 Verizon variant on eBay, and tried to use both methods of checking the RTN screen to see if the phone is new or refurb'd, with no luck. Dialing ##786# didn't work, nor did dialing *#*#786#*#* I also tried using the launcher shortcut method, to no avail. Anyone have another suggestion? Thanks

Major Issue with Stock Phone

I received a brand new touch pro yesterday from Sprint. I performed an activation online and I can place calls and send text messages with no problems. However, the internet connection doesn't work. I called sprint and they tried to get me to program the phone but the unlock code they provided doesn't work. They gave me two unlocked codes to try. I even tried to use the GETSPC program and the codes generated there still doesn't work. Any reason why? I noticed that under the device information section, the MEID displays the HEX rather than the DEC number. Is there a way to fix this issue? Thanks.
It's an account provisioning problem. Stop by a Sprint store and have them look up your account. Otherwise, just get the unit exchanged if it still doesn't work.

Lg Optimous 2X P999 unable to Unlock

I have LG Optimus 2X locked to Wind. My son installed the gingerbread software on it around six months ago. The phone works great. I tried to unlock it but I am unable to type in the code because no window pops up after inserting the sim card from a different provider. the phone goes to home screen. I typed in the numbers from instructions provided by the person. The message reads NO ACTIVE NETWORK AVAILABLE when the sim is from different provider but if I type in the same numbers when my active sim card is inserted the USSD code start running and after few seconds the message is IME code concealed. Thus I can not get the little window to type in the unlock code. Thanks for help in advance.
What are you typing to get to the dialog for entering the code? For P990, it is 2945#*990# (I know it works, as I used it myself), so I would think for P999 it would be 2945#*999#.
Keep in mind that the phone may not be able to accept the unlock code for several reasons (not sure about your phone, though). For example, too many unsuccessful attempts to enter an unlock code could lock the phone permanently. Or, the operator-branded firmware would not allow access to this function. Places that provide unlock services usually advise you to check in advance, before purchasing, whether you can actually enter an unlock code into your phone...

I think you need to be on a stock ROM to unlock the phone. Once done, it will remain unlocked and you can restore your previous ROM from a nandroid backup and try the other SIM card. Mind you, the P999 only gonna work in 3G either with Mobilicity or Vidéotron. With the rest of the carriers (Rogers, Fido) you will only get 2G connectivity.
In regards to Wind/other stock ROMs, nandroid backup/restore, etc check the P999 (aka G2X) dedicated thread. The phone is falsely advertised by Wind, it is not the Optimus 2X. The right thread for further information:

I think that i've unloked mine with flashing different baseband.
It was locked on my network but after flashing several roms and basebands it works with every sim.
Is that possible?
And when i flash some bb my sim is locked too.

I'm having the same problem as the OP. I have a Wind phone, but no matter what I try I can't get the unlock prompt screen to come up. I've tried 2945#*999# AND 2945#*990# with no luck.
But, I do have a Paranoid Android ROM on it. Maybe I have to revert back to stock.
Does anyone know where I can get the stock Wind ROM?

[Q] Just got an off contract VZN G2 that is new, Do I need to bypass activation?

I just got a brand new never activated off contract LG G2 for Verizon. I tried to activate it on the My Verizon website by following the directions. I typed in the phone ID number, then got the verification text and submitted. Everything looked good so I followed the directions and removed the sim card out of my old phone (droid DNA) and put it in the G2 and turned it on. The G2 just was stuck on the "waiting for activation" screen for over an hour when I finally gave up and tried the sim card it came with which also did not work. It did show the G2 listed on my account but was never actually working. When I put the sim card back into my DNA I was able to use the DNA like normal and the DNA showed back up in my Verizon account.
So on a never used or never activated G2, how can I get it working on my line with my number? Do I need to bypass that initial activation wizard to get it to work? If so, how can it be done? Thanks
Bypassing the Activation screen and inserting my old sim card worked. Everything seems to be working.

[Q] Trouble Unlocking Telus XT 1097

Hi all. I have an XT1097 that I have been trying unsuccessfully to network unlock. I have tried several unlock companies an all come back with the same 2 codes however they do not work. From what I can tell there doesn't appear to be a limit on the attempts. When I turn the phone on, it asks for the unlock code, but always comes back as unsuccessful. I have confirmed the IMEI a number of times so that is not the issue. I've heard there are a number of databases that the vendors can pull from. So far I have tried Cellunlocker.net, and Quickphoneunlock.com and another local person with no luck. I'm not a stranger to unlocking, but this is the first Motorola I have tried to do. Is there something quirky about them?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
I realize this is an older thread, but it's possible someone changed the IMEI. I got an HTC One M7 from someone, it was locked to T-Mobile. I tried unlocking it, but was unsuccessful.
I realized the IMEI was different that the one on the box, so I had to jump through a lot of hoops before I could get it rooted (this particular version had issues with most of the methods, ended up having to pay for an app to root it)... once I got it rooted and had access to the system, I could then change the IMEI back to the original one and was able to use an unlock code.

Trying to Unlock APN Settings on "Unlocked" T-Mobile LG L90 D415

Hello there,
First time poster. I've had a hell of a time trying to figure out this problem with my LG L90 D415, updated to the latest version of Lolipop, which I bought advertised as "unlocked" off eBay and intended to use with Consumer Cellular (CC), a virtual GSM network using bandwidth from the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Such a phone is supposed to work on their network. It is now rooted and ready to go. However, I cannot change the APN settings to use data. Under settings, if I try to create a new APN with a different MNC number, the new APN will automatically be deleted. The phone is supposedly unlocked, and does seem to be so as it accepts the CC sim card and I am able to send and receive calls with it. It is now rooted using the one-click script by avicohh method.
As a side note, I also cannot send or receive text messages from anyone other than a friend who is on T-Mobile. I've contacted CC's tech support and they swear its the fact that the APN is still locked on the phone. I therefore plan to fix this problem so I can add the CC network's APN to see if it makes a difference on my phone.
I have since rooted the phone using the one-click method. I was even able to delete the T-Mobile APN entry by using a combination of BusyBox, /system/app mover, and APNManager apps. However this does not stop any APN without the T-Mobile MNC from being auto-deleted in Settings -> Mobile Network - APNs.
I have downloaded and installed the Android SDK suite in anticipation of flashing a rom onto the phone as a last resort fix. However, I cannot find a link to a rom for the D415 which I am certain does not contain the T-Mobile firmware and bloatware on it, neither on LG's website nor here.
I am hoping someone here has heard of this problem before and has an idea of what I can do to fix this frustrating APN problem caused by T-Mobile.
Have you tried this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...41691-mod-add-apn-editor-system-settings.html

I just tried it. No luck, but thank you for the link. Looks like it applied to the same problem, but solved it only for an older version of Android. It will not work with my phone which has Lolipop. My problem is that the new APN entries get auto-deleted, not that they are greyed out as that link described.
I have contacted LG and T-Mobile technical support, and they keep pointing fingers at each other and cannot help me. After much insistence, T-Mobile has suggested that I go into one of their stores to solve the problem, and if a support tech cannot help me there, then I should return the phone to the vendor, which is what I intend to do.
If anyone has a clue how to unlock the APN settings on this phone, please help!
