Hi!
I've got my Xperia SP for about 6-7 months. Since the release of 4.3 i started to experience massive ammount of problems.
I've rooted my phone, and flashed it with the first possible ver. of offcicial Android 4.3 (Normally i should wait for my Carier to release the 4.3 with branding).
I was quite happy to have a new system etc.etc., but i decided to install Existenz ROM.....
After that, I realised few things:
My rear camera became extremely blurry and "Milky"
My phone started to overheat during simple things
I barely can open a message app, due to 1-2minutes lag in this app
The same thing happend to contacts (Only theese 2 apps)
Many of apps started to crash for no reason
My battery is a one big joke. It can discharge from 40-50% to 0 in less then hour of surfing the web
(The SMS and Contacts lag, doesn't affect only the offcial system apps, but every app, that allows you to reach contacts or SMS)
Also when i turned on my phone for the 1 time, i've got the information to wait for a power off button, then the big power off button appeared, i clicked it and the phone reset.
All theese things werent noticable at first (excluding the camera), but after some time, all of them are getting worst and worst.
I Flashed the original 4.3 system. Nothing.
I Repaired it with PC COMPANION.... Nothing.
Got no else idea... The service&guarantee i think is not possible for me :/
INFO FOR GEEKS:
MODEL - C5303
Android Ver. - 4.3
Kernel - 3.4.0-perf-ga1d7493 ([email protected]#1)
Comp. nr. - 12.1.A.1.201
Bootloader Unlocked - No (and cannot be unlocked)
Either repair with Sony Update Service or reflash stock ROM with my tutorial.
Those issues you mention are software issues and I did not encounter any one.
(But this is for Stock ROM)
About issues with ExistenZe... I've read some more issues.. Best is to wait for a fix from the developer...
You could also try a reinstall of that ROM
Hi!
When the stock 4.3 rom installed, my SP freezd and restarted like an old CGA monitor.
After I installed the eXistenZ Ultra 3.3.0, it stoped restarting, but started overheating.
It overheats only when its in standby mode.
I installed CPU temp monitor from Xposed and it shows, that the "normal" temp is 36-37C, but usually its about 47-51, and some times it heats up to 60-61C while in standby!
If I start charging it cools down to 39-42C.
I checked the memory booster to do not close the overheat system app but I never seen that app running.
Could someone help me?
P.s: sorry for the english
Phone OverHeat with ExistenZ 3.3.0
try another rom
Boot into safemode....
Turn off device normaly but keep the Turn Off option ticked on untill a popup appears and reboot into safemode.
After this check if the heat issue is still present

I have had some recent problems with my Nexus and I think its seriously broke. I am hoping someone can help as I couldn't bare sending this back off to HTC or Google for repair because I'm living now at Saudi Arabia!
I.m using CM 7.1.0
my phone is nexus one with SLCD and never fall down I just bought it new from Amazon about 5 months ago
Main Problem
The camera is unresponsive.
Whenever I click on the camera app the live wallpaper in the background freezes, then the phone turns black and when I press the backup or home button the below error message comes up:
Sorry
Activity camera (in application Camera) is not responding
Force Close / Wait
Other problems (maybe related...)
-My camera flash will turn on randomly,
-My phone will turn off when i make calls the screen will go all black and not let me do anything unless i take off the battery
-The phone has been running with too much hot when this problem has started.
-Also, I have had what seems excessive batter useage i.e. fully charged overnight and unplugged at 7am, battery dead by 10 am.
Recent efforts
I have re-flashed the CM and did a data and cash wipe and tried a new cm build
I have factory reset the phone 3 times
I have removed the memory card
I have swapped and used a friends memory card
, but nothing!
so please help me ... if its a hardware problem please advice a site for me to buy new parts
First thing I would do is a full wipe of the phone. This includes manually wiping the /system partition and then performing a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. From there, reinstall CM and gapps and see if you problem is still there.
If you need to back up apps and app data, you can use a program like Titanium Backup.
Also, what is your radio/baseband version? You can find it in Settings -> About Phone.
I am getting the same problem.
I have a alogcat log output if it is helpful in working out what is causing this / fixing it
You can try and see if the logcat has any info that can help with it, but typically, they don't put out too much information that would help in diagnosing it. I would still recommend wiping the phone.
Have completed a full wipe as described above with no success.
Baseband version: 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04

Is this after restoring your apps? Because a clean install with gapps typically yields a 1-2% battery drain (or less) per hour.
Did your camera just stopped working one day?
Sent from my Nexus One using xda premium
sorry I just get back from work trip
I wiped /system also and flashed the radio again which is 5.08.00.04
but no success
it just happened like that, my nexus one never fall down
What do you have your clock set to? My camera would FC also but its cause it was overclocked to high, i put it to MHz and now it runs smooth
I tried overclocked and underclocked but nothing
Idont know what happened, but everything seems that has been fixed by itself
No more battery and heat issues
No more drop calls
No more black screen
But the camera and flashlight problem still not fixed

Camera not working on Android 2.3.6
About 2-3 weeks ago the Android 2.3.6 update came over the air.
I have had a couple issues:
1. Camera does not work at all, no picture taking, no gallery
When I try to take a picture an error message pops up with 3 buttons:
Sorry!
Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding.
[Force Close] [ Wait ] [ Report ]
2. I just downloaded TripIt and it will not "stick" to the home screen when I try dragging it there.
Anybody with a solution?
I think you've flashed a wrong kernel. Non-working camera and fast battery drainage are common in kernel problem.
Hi there, i am looking to see if anyone can help me with a Sony SP. I got this phone as an "upgrade" just over a year ago. Since then the quality of the software and the phone in general as deteriorated to such an extent that i am considering just using the phone as a door step! I am constantly faced with error messages such as "xperia home not responding" " process not responding" etc and also apps not responding. This happens on pre installed and installed apps. Whenever people try to ring me it goes straight to answer phone, i cant connect to anyone when i try to ring them. When i am lucky enough to actually open a received message the lag time is a couple of mins between trying to open the message and to actually reading the message.
I have been to the store and the phone has been given a factory reset twice and software reset as well and if anything its made it worse. Any ideas or if anyone is experiencing the misery of this happening to them would be great!
Cheers
I tried a lot of roms and i can tell you that stock rom is the worst... I am now on stock rom and it is terrible... Facebook app lags, google chrome is in the most of time unresponsive, heavy games that theoretically can be played on Xperia SP are force closing , etc... Our phone has RAM issue that can be solved with custom rom with minimal and just important apps installed... I love sony stock design of software but i think that i am going on cyanogenmod and will never return to stock again
My phone is so slow after the LP update thats annoying. For example, when I browse in Chrome for 10 minutes and want to go back Home, the icons are empty and it starts reuploading them after 1-2 seconds. When I want to record the screen to show it, then this problem magically goes away...
And sometimes the apps are freezing (e.g.: VLC, Walkman, Facebook, ...)
I have another issue: sometimes I get only mono sound through headphones, and I can only solve this when I pull it out and push it again in the jack.
Whats going on? Has somebody else these strange things?
Build nr is .726
Already reported by several users on this forum, with several other users (including myself) very surprised - seeing nothing of the sort. By the reports, seems as if it's up to your luck, or depending on some system apps/settings/usage. However, the same reports conclude it as solved in the next Lollipop update version.
Try the new update! Fixed my performance and battery life
lagy

exactly the same problem have i too. (tried everything) compared to xperia z3 compact tablet - no such big problems, but there is 3gb ram and it use my gf, so not so many app installed.
The re-uploading of the icons i can reproduce with the developer menu when i click in the section of applications - don't store applications - after that every-time when you close all aps in tab menu of the phone - reloading of icons appear.....
so it must be a software problem - because on 4.4 had newer problems and the phone was perfect without lags - hopefully will Sony make this better in next update - it is for my a big issue
before i used htc one max htc one m8 and such things never happened .....
new update yesterday it happened again . .. what i saw is that the phone killed by itself apps and the ram raised. So it is some process of the phone and the system. But like i told never before happened it in 4.4 kitkat (was better) but had no sd card support so have to wait on new update....
NEW STATUS - I TRIED TO INSTALL https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thetonyp.fixlollipopmemoryleak
fix lollipop memory leak from google play...
it seems better after a week i can exactly tell you if it helped or not. But after a day i tried to reproduce the memory problems after browsing web but the re-uploading of icons have disappeared ... so maybe it is a solution...
So after 4 days i had 2 times the lag, so IT helped but not pernamently.
How is Lollipop these days? I rolled back to KitKat and do not have a single complaint about it. I love it. Is Lollipop any better than a few months ago?

i would go back if there was the sdcard support.... but the lags pi** me ... so 1 - 2x a day i see how after the touch of the homebutton i see just a clear screen and after that everything shows again after 1 - 2 seconds - and the "shortcut icons" reupload ...
After a lot of issues i just ended up downgrading back to kitkat on my galaxyTab S8.4 wifi, from lollipop.
Issues i was experiencing were:
-totally unreliable battery meter & performance. - Could read 100%, and 10 mins later would read 5% and turn off.
-screen flicker - lines would flicker across the screen randomly, usually before the device crashed.
-Rebooting - the device would randomly reboot, but usually happened 3-4 times per hour, making the device useless.
-screen freeze - the touchscreen would stop working randomly, usually before it rebooted itself.
Ive just gone back to kitkat (voided my warranty in the process) and its still to be seen if downgrading resolves the battery issue, but already the screen flicker seems to be gone. Il update after a day or two use.
Very annoyed with Samsung for releasing an unusable update that rendered the tablet useless & the solution was to load a rom myself, voiding the warranty.
Have experienced absolutely none of the issues you refer to on my SM-T805.
Runs just fine for me.
Downgrading to KITKAT doesn't void your warranty.

I agree with ashyx , my tab s runs fine n dandy , sounds like you have a faulty unit schmintan
I don't know if your tablet has Knox, you can see status if you go under status in about device, usually, and see if it is "official" or not.
Far as what you did, before you went and loaded a ROM, I would have done a factory reset. Quite often, settings/apps brought over from a previous version cause issue. I don't care if the upgrade tells you too or not, read through the forums and you'll see it littered with people stating how they noticed a massive improvement after their upgrade once they factory reset. Yes, it does suck, but these days Android makes it very easy to do.

Hi, have you solved The issue downvrading? I have The same problems you described.
same issues
White lines then crashes, battery life under 4 hours,
Sounds like a case of broken hardware or one seriously misbehaving application. And in general, if nothing works, I'd recommend to do a full factory reset of the tablet after the lollipop upgrade (erasing all of your data and settings of course). The only issue that concerns me about lollipop is the increase in battery drain at idle. You need to hunt down for the apps that keep your tablet awake. But spend a full battery charge in minutes? No way. Impossible. Get the tablet replaced.
I've been having the same issues. When I did a clean install, the tablet worked fine. However, as I install various apps, the issue begins again. I haven't been able to identify a particular app.
Going to try Marshmallow and see if it's more stable
If you both post your apps list that might be interesting see if you both share an app?

nope. no stable mm roms yet.
Well, I've upgraded to Marshmallow and whilst it took a few goes to get it up and running properly (problems with installing gapps) it's working fine (mostly) now.
I've only had it running for a day but it is much smoother and quicker than kitkat and lollipop. So far there hasn't been any random shutdowns. It's too early to say whether battery life is better.
The only problems I've had is the camera isn't working (haven't bothered to look for a fix yet) and auto rotation doesn't work all the time.
I'll keep you up to date on how things go but so far I'm very pleased with the upgrade. I might now upgrade my 10.5

Hola, which procedure did you follow to downgrade OS to kitkat? I m right now on official Lollipop without root.
I had a notion that even if we downgrade to kitkat screen flicker will remain.
Awaiting your reply- thanks in advance

If your issues are caused by Lollipop wouldn't everyone one else with Lollipop experience the same issues? I have absolutely none of the problems you mentioned and I have had Lollipop installed since it was first made available for this tab. Seems to me you more then likely have a hardware problem. You said you were going to update in a day or two but you haven't so far. I'm curious if downgrading solved your issues.

I have the 8.4 and 10.5, both are stock running lollipop and neither device has had the issues you are having!

screen freeze + screen flickers bright flash bars
random reboot, screen freeze and crazy screen flickers with bright flash bars), which occurred when it had low battery
(may be not relevant but have also just given up on firefox for chrome!)
this seems to sum up my experience in the last week or so, I thought I was heading for some hardware failure but parallels what others are reporting....
SM-T705Y running 5.0.2 (LRX22G)
looks like update from 20th May which would be around when this started
Hi all, been a reader of the forum for years but now I need a bit of help!
Ok so a background, I've got a Z3C running Android Version 5.0.2 (Lollipop I think?) and it's been running fine for the last 2+ years, still getting almost 2 days from the Battery, I did upgrade to Marshmallow but I reinstalled Lollipop as battery life was crap on Marshmallow. Anyway....
So I rely on Greenify (Version 2.7 now upgraded to Latest version) and Stamina mode for my battery life, and I've Never had any issues with Greenify until now. Last week I went into settings and all of a sudden the settings screen scrolled right down to the bottom and wouldn't let me scroll back up!! I accessed other programs and all was fine but soon as I went back into settings, the same thing!
I restarted my phone and still the same issue, so I booted into safe mode and then booted back into normal mode and the problem disappeared... Until I used greenify. I had to set greenify again in the Accessibility section of settings... And soon as I did, the scrolling down started again.
So I booted back into safe mode, switched off Greenify device administrator and then uninstalled it, and installed the latest version and the same issue is occurring. So for now greenify on uninstalled and the battery life drop is noticeable... So I want to try and solve this problem.
So, any ideas as to why this is happening after 2 years of problem free running?
- Harry
No one...?
this problem is complicated ) make a backup of ur contacts, messages (if are from ur girlfrend) and other stuff and try with another rom. try concept rom or i dont know...see what happen in another roms if u really want greenify. for example XPERIENCE rom of Marilia i saw is very stable and good for battery; is marsmallow but is ok
