So I have the pink camera issue. I noticed it today when trying to take a video of the meteor shower happening. I am currently on viper ROM and my phone is unlocked, tampered and s-on. My problem is I am with Virgin Mobile(Canada) and I cannot seem to find a stock ROM so I can send this phone in for warranty.
Once I get back to the stock ROM how can I remove the Tampered and Unlocked messages?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Are you sure you need to restore the phone to stock? Since they sold you a phone with a hardware defect, they may have a legal responsibility they can't ignore. In most civilized countries, a seller has to repair or replace a defective product.

I'm not sure, I kind of assumed that once you rooted, your warranty was in jeopardy.

Surely it is "in jeopardy". But my rooted and S-Off phone was repaired under warranty due to the same camera issue. I'm not in your country, but it's probably worth a little googling to find out. Maybe even call them to ask, but don't give them your name/IMEI/serial (tell them your friend is borrowing the phone, but before you get it back, you need to know whether the rooted unit's defective camera component it can be fixed under warranty).

Let me clarify. Based on my personal experience (not internet hearsay), some warranty repair centers do not care about a phone being tampered/s-off/unlocked. They noticed (and mentioned it to me over the phone), but repaired it anyway, free of charge. Now, can you clarify why you think that's not true?

Well, they rejected my phone. The first thing they did was check the bootloader. They said that i would have to pay for the repair because the bootloader was unlocked. I think HTC's policies differ in different countries.

Ok, firewater worked, phone is now S-OFF.
The phone is with Virgin Mobile, which I believe is the same company as Bell, I had bell's self serve app on my phone when I first got it. I also bout an old iPhone on a Bell network and it worked fine with a Virgin Sim card.

Ok, cool. Now here's the guide to going to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
The 1st post is important, it gives you the list of downloads and prerequisites. READ IT A FEW TIMES VERY CAREFULLY
Then, move to post 5. The method you will be using to return to stock is the CWM NANDROID method.
Now, the RUU you will be using is this:

when you flash the ruu.zip you will actually downgrade to hboot 1.44, which is no problem unless if you are on Win 8.1

Mate, you've an unlocked bootloader?
If yes, flash a recovery from fastboot, do an erase cache, boot in it and sideload a rom
And, an advice, remove your IMEI and S/N from your post.

also, dont use the same Unlock_code.bin file that you used the first time when you unlocked your bootloader to root the phone. Every time the bootloader is relocked, it generate a different token, you need a new unlock code that match with the new identifier token.

Hey guys,
Thank you for all the information.
I realized what happened. For some reason the ADK Bundle I was using was missing a code. So I had to re download, and I finally got it un-bricked.
I was ****ting myself for quite a while. But I reinstalled HTC Stock ROM, and she is working like a beauty. Only thing is the microphone issue. But I do not receive or make many calls. So not really bothering me!
Thanks for all the replies!

stock recovery (and everything else) is included in the RUU. it "should" run successfully and put you back to 100% (-10% because of SuperCID) stock ROM, firmware, etc
then hopefully you can downgrade, and get S-Off and unlock using revone

I have an HTC One PN07120. It is unlocked, tampered S-ON, has custom recovery installed, and is running AT&T 4.3 JellyBean stock.

You should be fully stock, including recovery, before taking an OTA, except that you can (and should) stay s-off and unlocked. You may not even get the OTA otherwise.
So I think I have found the stock recovery needed for my device. Now there is a small problem, I have 2 stock recovery files for my device and I do not know wich one to choose because when I typed "fastboot getvar all" I didn't find any information at "version main", just blank space. How should I know wich one to pick?

did you change radio?
hboot 1.55 + MID + CID would indicate you are on 3.xx.502.x version
so i guess: http://d-h.st/D8F or http://d-h.st/6bH would be a suitable recovery, but you need to have your phone's ROM 100% stock

Well, the guy who fixed my phone from a bootloop and bricked state said he has done the s-off, found a suitable stock RUU and installed, then he put S-ON back and unlocked bootloader if I decide to do any mods in the future.

1- If you are 100% stock then Settings -> About should also show your correct version number
2- you rooted the phone, so that may or may not have changed some system files, so OTA may not work
3- once S-Off stay S-Off, my personal opinion
In my humble opinion, three choices really, when it comes to "modding" or not your phone:
A) stay stock and don't mess with it to get OTAs
B) you cannot achieve S-OFF (due to newer hboots, or device problems) -> fine live with an unlocked bootloader, and accept the fact that you cannot install OTAs .... you can however "download and install later" the OTA, then pull it to your phone, and use the signed firmware.zip in it
C) you can achieve S-OFF and want to mod your phone -> then do it, get S-Off and enjoy the freedom (but don't flash things not meant for your phone!! this goes for S-On too)
Of course you're going to say that "but S-Off is dangerous", it's a double edged sword... sometimes you are able save your phone thanks to S-Off, and sometimes you can brick it completely.
But then again, you can easily brick an S-On phone too (especially one that is modded), and much more difficult to save than an S-Off phone.
^^ All that is my personal opinion, and I'm not suggesting you S-Off, but if you want to mod your phone (whether S-On or S-Off), you need to be aware of what may, or may not, go wrong, and have done some reading and research
Good Luck
Well, its not worth it. I wont risk bricking my phone again

Hi,
I have an HTC One PN07120. It is unlocked, tampered S-ON, has custom recovery installed, and is running AT&T 4.3 JellyBean stock.
In a few days Sense 6.0 OTA update will become available for my device, so I was wondering if I can just normally run the setup and update my system or I have to relock my device or something?
PLEASE RESPOND

That's a tough one... cause even if you manage to pull out the cable, at exactly the right (ie wrong) moment while flashing recovery, it wouldn't affect bootloader... and with a good bootloader (hboot, and some other variables) you should be able to revive your phone.... now mess with hboot, and that's a whole different story!!
As I said, this is my personal opinion, so maybe get some second opinions on the subject... I can only answer on what i've done, seen, experienced, fixed, not fixed, etc.
Maybe someone wiser will add his/her opinion to this

Was anyone successful in s-off, for this device? I'm running 4.4.3
Thanks in advance!
I used Rumrunner last year to get s-off. It took a few attempts though. I have heard that it doesn't work for some. I used Firewater to s-off my one x.

No. It 4.4.2 at the time.

What makes SunShine the start of a new era?
Simply put, it isn't free. SunShine is the cumulation of years of research, hundreds of hours of development, the sacrifice of many devices (R.I.P. bricked test phones), and the blood, sweat and tears of multiple developers. Just like how a mechanic charges money for his time souping up your car, the only feasible way to devote the time and energy to this is to charge for it. The income from SunShine allows us to recoup the time lost from other projects, to invest more time into research and development of new solutions, purchase new test hardware, and to allow us to enjoy a few bottles of wine at the end of a hard week.
Well crud, how much are you asking for?
The initial price of SunShine is set at $25.00usd per device, payable via paypal or credit-card from within the application itself. Our hopes are that SunShine is successful enough to allow us to find or purchase vulnerabilities, and to develop future solutions at lower prices. If you want to see additional payment options become available, let us know in support!
Are you crazy $25?!?
You may be right. We may be crazy. Considering our costs to develop SunShine, we feel we are justified. Most of our customers purchased heavily subsidized devices, instead of opting for a more developer friendly product. SunShine solves that situation, at a much lower cost than purchasing a developer device.

most (or many) have had luck using a stock rom (ARHD / Stock rooted ..etc ) along with bulletproof kernel and firewater

We have been blessed for a long time with these guys, doing work for free all so we could unlock and s off. For free!
According to beaups the chip doesn't matter I believe
As for what works - people have reported success with nightly builds of CM11 with firewater and arhd with bulletproof kernel
Personally I paid for s off using sunshine. I didn't get the "Whelp! This sucks!" message but was happy to pay the $25 for what I needed. True, it's a gamble as to what combo of Rom/kernel but if its not working just bite the bullet and pay up

Also if I unlock the bootloader, can't i downgrade and then use firewater or rumruner? or you need s-off for downgrade?

As clsA stated it's just hit and miss normally requires flashing different roms and kernels.
I found older stock roms to be more successful, try find a guru reset zip with 4.3 Rom that matches your cid and mid, also the older stock kernels work with firewater so worth trying before flashing bulletproof
You can downgrade your Rom but to downgrade your hboot requires s-off

The simple reason is that on newer software versions it was patched so firewater won't work. As long as you don't get the whelp this sucks message then you have a chance. And all the people who keep using emmc chip version to tell if it will work are wasting their time. That has nothing to do with it. What it needs to s off is one of life's little mysteries

No but sunshine has a 100% success rate, no?
Question here. Hello all I'm rooted with twrp/supersu bl unlocked via HTC dev and s-off via sunshine. Is there anyway flashing an ruu or firmware update can s back on ?
Hoping someone here might be able to help as nothing on the HTC website did.
My phone updated yesterday to Lollipop 5.0 (through EE in the UK)...well it it had a go, but failed. I'm left with just an exclamation mark of helpfulness. I've tried all of the basic recovery options but it just restarts a few times and goes back to said exclamation mark.
The error is..
DEVICE_CW_Install: Can't mount /cwprop
Then stuff about failing to mount the SD card (that it doesn't have).
Are there any tools that might help me sort this out? I don't particularly want to install something none standard on it but if that's all I can do to get it working, it would be ok.

171 is a USB error, means therres a problem with your drivers, sorry been a bit busy today, car problems, but that RUU is wrong for your phone anyway, that's a 401 RUU (4.19.401.2), you need a 61 RUU if one exists, you will need an RUU labelled as 6.16.61.8 or higher

you will have problems with Lollipop based roms, so use this one which matches your firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722644627
your best bet if you want it full stock is to get s-off using sunshine once you get a rom on it and convert it to a 401 WWE phone, which gets one of the fastest updates, sunshine however will cost you $25 via paypal.
I'm not familiar with M7 software numbers but, yes maximusHD custom roms are good to begin with.

Thanks,I will probably have a go at putting different rom's on at some point and was wondering what people thought the best option is for the M7.
I managed to get sorted using Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.401.8.zip. I had some problems uploading it to begin with, I think the usb issue stopped the ruu and abd working but not fastboot. I have a working phone now, which seems like a bonus after thinking the phone was maybe a goner. It's been a massive learning curve having known absolutely nothing about any of this stuff on Monday, I know how to put different rom's on now which is handy to know. The phone is still unlocked at the moment, I don't know what the cons of that are. Would this rom maybe update if I locked it again?

no, don't try and update either, you'll stand a high chance of seriously bricking your phone, it will try and install 401 firmware which isn't for your phone, hence 2.24.401.8 like I said before, your firmware is 61. orange / EE.
the numbers work like this, 2.24.401.8 ( the 2 is android version) the 24 is part of the build number, the 401 is carrier / region (401 is WWE world wide English) yours is 61 orange / EE and you can only use these files same or above the one your currently on as your phone is s-on, and the last number 8 is build number, or alternatively you can flash any custom rom you like upto KitKat as your firmware on your phone is currently 6.xx.61.x
you are stuck with custom rom's only up to KitKat, the one I linked earlier is Maximus HD 50.0 which is as close to stock Kitkat as you will get for now, but still a custom rom. Lollipop rom's will play up as your on firmware 6xxxxxxx unless you s-off and convert your phone or unless you can get hold of the 7.xx.61.x firmware and manually upgrade your firmware, you need to have, or find someone who has the 7.xx.61.x OTA and grab the firmware.zip out of it and flash that in fastbootRUU mode.
I think I've been pretty lucky to get the thing up and running really could've gone badly but I didn't think I had anything to lose. With all of the different firmware and rom version that I wasn't aware of it sounds like there was actually a lot I could've lost with my wing it aproach.
This oldish Android version I'm on now seems to use a lot of battery, presumably connected to the additional "HTC Pocket Radiator" feature which it also turns on sporadically. It's not a big problem but I think I'll have a bash with the MaximusHD you suggested. Question though, Googling for a bit more info on MaximusHD 5.0 it appears to be Lollipop, am I right? If so, just to confirm, you're saying that I could have problems with Lollipop because of my firmware but this version of it should work ok with my current firmware? From googling I found a description of the rom that said "Firmware 7.15.401.1 is recommended to install". Sorry, just making sure because my luck is likely to run out soon.
EDIT
Also, if I do need to S-OFF, you mention Sunshine and you mention $25, this is a 3 year old phone with a slight crack in the screen so I'm not going to throw any money at it but I found Squabbi's tool kit which uses Revone for S-OFF, would this be no good?

Right the update will not work but there is no chance of bricking here, the ota install process will only stop before flashing anything since the Orange CID and .61 Firmware of the phone doesn't match the WWE CID and .401 base of the OTA

Also, if I do need to S-OFF, you mention Sunshine and you mention $25, this is a 3 year old phone with a slight crack in the screen so I'm not going to throw any money at it but I found Squabbi's tool kit which uses Revone for S-OFF, would this be no good?

No, Revone is only for hboot 1.44 pre-June 2013 version. For hboot 1.57 and above, Sunshine is the only way.

There is a 6.16.61.8 signed RUU available but unfortunately, its only available at ir-file.com and you need a paid account to download from that website.

Right the update will not work but there is no chance of bricking here, the ota install process will only stop before flashing anything since the Orange CID and .61 Firmware of the phone doesn't match the WWE CID and .401 base of the OTA

Ok, MaximusHD was mentioned. 50.0 looks to be the latest version and that's the version posted above but that's Lollipop, would 40.0 be the right one for me?
I might be best just leaving it as is. I've successfully upgraded it from a paperweight to a phone, if I twist I might bust and end up back with a shiny paperweight again.

sorry my bad, I thought 50 was a KitKat rom as its sense 6, use this one instead which is a KitKat 6xxxx as close to stock rom as possible: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=22071 (Maximus HD 46.0)
custom rom based on 6.09.401.11
