SGH-i537 Wifi not working, can't flash odin - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A few days ago I tried upgrading to 4.4.2 via safestrap and ran into some problems. Long story short I was stuck in Download mode but eventually got out of it and flashed 4.3 ML2. I rooted 4.3 before my problem and followed the instructions and everything worked. Flashed the two different tar files (pwndkernel and orignalkernel) so my wifi was working fine.
Now after I had the problem I can't get wifi working no matter what I try, and I can't flash anything besides the tar kernels but they aren't doing anything to fix my problem. Everytime I try to flash 4.3 so I can start from scratch it fails.
I have tried renaming and deleting wpa_supplicant.conf and that had no effect.
I have also tried doing a factory reset and I still have the same problem.
Any suggestions would help! I've been reading for the last 2 days trying to find something but no one seems to have the same issue.

I tried downloading it but was unable to (link was bad I think)
Would that work even though im mf2?
I also just tried flashing 4.3 again on a different computer with the right drivers installed and it failed.. I'm kind of lost as to why this is happening.

Just tried flashing modem.bin mf1 and got this

Odin is super picky. Make sure you are using the original cable that came with your phone. Try different usb ports, try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, try different computers. Odin will work, the conditions just need to be right. There are also 2 versions of the MF1 floating around, one works and one doesn't.
Unfortunately the only thing I can tell you it's too keep trying, it will eventually work.
EDIT: Here's the correct modem file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52001518

I was able to flash the mf1 modem you linked succesfully. Still no wifi though! Would it be worth trying to get a hold of an at&t sim card to update to 4.4.2 through the network? (I'm on rogers)

There is no network update anymore, AT&T pulled it because it was messing up people's phones.
I don't know what to tell you, maybe try completely wiping the phone and flash the ML2 package again? It could be a hardware issue and in that case you'd have to send it in for warranty.

I wiped the phone and I was still unable to flash the ml2 package. I'm able to flash the modem.bin. I just can't flash any full packages for some reason. I have tried 3 different usb cables, including the one that the phone came with. I've tried 2 computers, and 3 different versions of odin.
I find it odd that I can flash modem.bin or originalkernel.tar but I can't do a complete package...
I bet it's something simple but I just can't figure it out.
I'm not sure how it would be a hardware issue since it happened right after I messed up going to 4.4.2. The wifi button just won't toggle, every time you go to turn it on it quickly goes back to off.
EDIT:
Right after I typed that I thought of something to try and it fixed it.....
In the whole odin package for 4.3 I decided to single out just the CP file and try to flash that since that's the modem file for the package.
After i flashed that it worked perfectly :silly::silly::silly:
Still have no idea why I couldn't flash the entire package but I will leave it alone for a while before I try and get to 4.4.2 again.
Thanks for all your suggestions!

You're a genius!
Thanks, it works!

[Q] Force Stop msg, Trying to Flash

Hi, n00b poster here...
Got a "force stop" as soon as the phone boots up. Tried the software reset, didnt work, so now trying to do the flash in download mode. Got all the files (.pit and the .tar file) got OdinV3 and the drivers are installed to detect the phone.
However, when I click the start button OdinV3 causes a fatal error and crashes. I have tried this on multiple computers and it does the same thing. HELP PLEASE!
EDIT: I am using the i9000DTJF3 file found on these forums as its the original OPTUS firmware.
You can give Heimdall (my flashing tool) a try if you want. I suspended the public alpha for the moment because it bricked a phone however if nothing else is working you might as well give it a shot.
Send me a PM if you would like the download link.
Before you do that however, have you tried removing the battery for a couple of minutes then retrying? I'm not actually sure how that makes any sense but quite a few people have reported it as helping.
ok, so downloaded the DTJG4 firmware from samsung firmwares and it now gets to this;

Help with Soft brick GALAXY S

Hey guys i have followed the guides , i was putting on a stock rom for my phone to be sent back as a replacement. it failed half way through the flash when i upgraded the phone to 2.2

I can get back into recovery mode. I tried flashing it with the PIT PDA and CSC file. It fails constantly, i clicked re partition in one flash too it didnt work either. SO i am stuck. Any other suggestions?
Using odin 1.3 - It worked the multiple other times i flash it to different roms.
Maybe you're using Windows x64? try using another version of Odin, possibly 1.7 & make sure when you open it to go to the correct pit file & not the last one opened, also if the phone is going back do a wipe/factory rest too in recovery mode & then try reflashing with Odin, hope that helps.
Hi i used a windows XP machine with the same results. I did try 1.3 and 1.7.
is there another PIT file i can try? I downloaded a couple and neither worked.
I have no recovery anymore only download mode, the phone does not boot at all no phone -> computer icon.
Is the 512 PIT file the right one for the galaxy thought it was.
Have you tried redownloading the firmware? Or another source for the same firmware? Maybe its corrupt somehow. I know it is supposed to check the md5 but worth a shot. Or try an earlier version of your firmware, if it is for return they shouldn't care.
G
I have tried 3 - 4 different roms with all the same result, the phone was going back under a different issue (network related). It always fails at the same point from each rom.
Steps i have done.
1. pit file only (repartition)
2. pit pda and csc (512 pit , vodaAU stock rom, voda au csc)
3. standard stock rom (which worked) but doesnt now.
4. Darkys resurrection rom (failed same spot)
5. odin 1.3 and odin 1.7
6. windows 7 and windows XP
I am annoyed about this, the other times worked fine! Just went i went to send it back for replacement . boom failed.
I tried a more recent ginger rom, failed again act factory.rfs. It's almost like the internal SDcard is broken. This time it flashed modem.bin
Did you remember to turn off the lagfix before the first flash? If the file system is ext4 and you flash RFS then I think that you can have issues.
There is a way to fix it as I was on another thread today where that was the issue but I don't know if the error showed up in Odin for them.
Just another thought...
G
BTW I think in most cases odin will still flash OK even if SD card is cooked. We i9000m owners know way too much about that...
After google search you also might try 1) another odin or heimdall - personally I'd try heimdall at this point if I were you or EZ odin maybe? 2) You likely know not to have kies agent in the tray but hey worth mentioning 3)redownload drivers (which I'll guess that you've done too)
Hi mate ,
Yes i did disable lag fix before flash i kept the orig rfs file system did not convert to EXT4. I might try Heimdall.

All taskmanager escaped all the kies stuff, reinstalled kies as well.
3)redownload drivers (which I'll guess that you've done too)
Did this on two machines.
EZ odin fixed it. It booted i just put my providers CSC on it, im pretty sure they wont check the base band and rev number when they get it back.
Glad it worked!

[Q] Stuck in Odin when flashing kernel

I was following the overcome guide and when i came to step 8/9 (flash overcome kernel) it didn't work, so then i chose the same pit which you use in a previous step and also the kernel and now it worked with the pit but not the kernel. i got stuck in download mode and tried to flash only kernel again but it didn't work not it got stuck on ConnectionSetup... or something like that. I think it couldn't find the device, i shut down odin and took out the micro-sd card which someone said could cause problems but it still didn't work. now i'm stuck at a screen like this: picture of phone .. ! .. picture of computer. I guess it means it can't connect to the computer. Anyone know what to do? I've tried searching the forums and tried some different stuff but haven't succeded.
Edit: Seems like i can use odin even though i don't get into the download mode, will update soon. Seems to work correctly, i'll give the flashing another try and i will make sure to cross the right boxes and so on.
Edit2: This time i checked that i had all the correct things crossed in Odin but when i try to flash the kernel it fails. what should i do? i come from gingerbread 2.3.3 (re-stocked) so it can't be the bootloader right?
Edit3: This is what i get when i try to flash the kernel:

<ID:0/036>
<ID:0/036> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Edit4: From my research it seems i have the same problem as people hade with the signed/locked bootloaders on froyo, however i'm running 2.3.3 and the thread specifically said not to use their patch so i have no idea of how to solve this. Help would be very appreciated.
Edit5: finally works, thanks to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324052

[Q] S3 wont boot - any last hope?

Hey y'all,
So I woke up this morning to find my quite new (~11 months) i9305 to be bootlooping.
Getting into download mode works, recovery however does not, since it loops the very first Samsung screen.

To sum it up, it won't flash anything to my mobile, my mobile doesnt output anything in download mode and nothing else works.
Is there anything I forgot trying or is this phone a case for the trash can now?
I'm guessing the nand or worse might be dead.

update odin to v3.09 latest..
before flashing with odin, you need to make sure that the box re-partition is unchecked or else this will mess up your device. only factory reset time and auto reboot should be checked. also usb debugging should be enabled in developer options in your phone.
trying with other usb ports of your pc might also work.
What are you trying to flash ? Are you knoxed? Aren't you perhaps trying to flash the old bootloader ?

Doesn't work and I can't enable usb debugging or even do a factory reset due to my inability to boot.

I tried flashing multiple things so far, a 4.4 rom, and a 4.1 samsung stock rom with csc & modem.
It doesn't show any knox flag in download mode to me (just Custom Binary Download Count, Current Binary and System Status), so I guess I'm not knoxed?
Doubt, you tried to repartition, did you have PIT file ?

pit are just for re-partitioning the device(they have partition layout in it), you can use odin without pit, i use on my i9300, that looks like a dead nand to me,but for last hope, try without re partitoning(not using pit or not ticking re partition)

Your problem might be elsewhere... You're probably Knoxed. Have you EVER flashed a stock 4.3 ? If so, you flashed the new bootloader (knox included) and you cannot flash roms which include the OLD bootloader.
Go to sammobile, download a 4.3 and retry. Not a 4.1, not a 4.4. A 4.3.
For this type of prob.. first use newest phils recovery.. on that format Every nand partitions.. I mean every.. then just flash latest odin firmware.. dont use pit option.. you may get hard brick... try this

Need some help Please

I have a sm-n910t3 phone I recently got. It was already flashed with some rom, twistd i think . I got an su binary is occupied error so i thought I would just reload stock and downloaded the \N910T3UVS3EQE2_N910T3TMB3EQE2_N910T3UVS3EQE2_HOME.tar.md5 since that what the phone say it is in the battery compartment. HOWEVER,
if i look at the about device, settings, it says the model is sm-g935t
when i run odin it checks the md5, adds it to the ap block and click start I get

any help will be greatly appreciated
SO i HAVE MANAGED TO PRETTY MUCH ALMOST BRICK MY 910T3. after screwing around with it for way too long it now will not boot at all keeps returning to twrp. odin will not download due to the device error mentioned above. I still have hope but it is dwindling every day may have a $200 brick.

Have you tried another Firmware ? this one might be corrupted, if you can boot into TWRP why don't you try to reformat the memory? and flash a rom?
Also try to get a firmware with the AP,BL,CSC, CP so you can Deep Clean the phone. try this webpage gsm-firmware(dot)com
Got it working thanks to all for the help. Did a full install of Lineage which kinda put the phone back in a regular mode. I had had Twistd d7 port installed was the main culprit that was making my phone think it was a 935. I then installed a deodexed, debloated (sorry cannot remembed whose it was) 6.0.1 that was rooted also and the phone is now 100% operational. I do want to get rid of super su and go with magisk but not real sure how to get rid of the SU that is already flashed into the phone.
Again my thanks to all who provided input to help me get everything working again.
