Well, I F'ed up... :( - LG G Flex

OK, so...I was messing around, and I ended up flashing the wrong boot.img file.
The phone just kind of goes in and out of the LG booting screen, which didn't concern me too much, because...it was still turning on and such.
SO I tried to hook up into the LG Flash tool, and......it didn't work. I put my phone in download mode, and it comes on my computer as a QHSUSB_BULK, and it opens up 15 "portable devices", all of which are not formatted correctly except for one (which comes up as drive E.

Things I can do:
Get into download mode, with crazy folders.
Get into some crazy Korean Screen with three options (Mode On, Mode Off, Cancel)
Turn the Phone on and off
Things I cannot do:
Boot into the OS
Boot into Fastboot
LG Flash Tools
ADB
If you guys want a screenshot of the korean screen, I can get you that. Maybe you can translate more of it, but I was only able to get the mode on and off, and the cancel part. Since I don't know what it does, I can't make it do anything.
If you want the files, lemme know, and I'll upload them.
Hopefully someone knows how I can fix this. Argh....
---EDIT---
Forgot to mention: Sprint Variant, if it makes a difference. I'm in the US. Thanks!

Well, I used the .bin files extracted from the TOT files I had before for the sprint gflex. I'm pretty sure that's where I made the mistake.

Not that it changed the outcome though, sorry to hear. So there's no life now? What about plugged into computer
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk

Yeah, I saw the difference. *lol* No life in the device at all, my linux mint doesn't discover it anymore. I'm going to try it again when I get home -- had to get to work, damn it.
If it reads it on the computer, which I doubt, but...maaaybe....I'll try it again with some img files. it's ok if it doesn't -- I'll just go to see about replacing it tomorrow.

OK. Plugged it back into the computer, and it comes up as:
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008
It doesn't show the 15 or so drives, and Linux doesn't read it at all.
LG Flash tool can see it sometimes, but it can't flash anything because it can't read the IMEI or anything on the phone -- fails every time.

Well unfortunately now you f'ed up
HS-USB QDLoader = hard brick
Sorry
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk

Yeppers. It's ok, it's my own fault -- HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION. *lol* Anyway, I'm going to see about what I can find on the net. Maybe I can get QPST or something to work with...something...or something....

Well I hope you find something. Let us know if you do
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk

I wonder if there's a way to reassign the IMEI and such with CDMA Workshop or QPST...? The LG Flash tool says it can't find the phone, but it reads the phone on the right port.

I take it this method does not apply to a phone that cannot be seen by a pc?

Well...probably not. I still get it showing up as an "unknown USB" device now, lately, but nothing past that. No worries -- I'm just grabbing at straws while waiting for payday.

Need aNew phone it's bricked. I learned my lesson all this flashing is not worth it. My note 2 died the same way

It wont go into fastboot? That korean screen is just the hardware button selector. Pretty much asks you if you want to use your hardware buttons. If you can adb it and get it to reboot thru fastboot then u have a chance.

You simply have to pay attention to what you're doing. If you're into flashing rom's and tinkering, I'd suggest you buy a Nexus device because they're easy to work with and hard to screw up.
I'm enjoying my G Flex just the way it is, there isn't any "must-have" root apps that are worth the trouble of going back to stock, or re-flashing this or that. Just look at all the problems people are having. Plus, I'm paying monthly on this device and have no interest in voiding it's warranty.

That is why I went exclusively to Nexus devices several years ago when I traded in my Vibrant for the Nexus S. Since then I have had 4 Nexus devices and not a one of them have been bricked in any way, after thousands of flashed files have been done to them. On my Nexus 7 I think its impossible to kill it via a bad flash. I think you would need to pull the cable in mid flash of the bootloader for any damage to occur, lol... But for recovery and roms/kernels etc, its near impossible I think.
This is the first non Nexus device in a long time so I think I will stick to stock on it and just root it and do away with the bloat. lol

So what should I do please I need help. I remember rooting my vibrant with one click lag fix but this is when it was at the market and when I tried to root it, it downloaded an update.zip file and made me reboot into recovery and reinstall packages. Then I had root on the vibrant. What I'm wondering is of there is an update.zip for the samsung captivate. If there is then please provide a link. Also does it matter if I am on recovery 3e
Yes it matters that your have 3e recovery, that is now the bane of your existence, because even if we did provide an update.zip for you 3e requires signed zips and i'm quite sure none exist.
There are workarounds to get 2e recovery back BUT those either require a working USB port or you to have root already...
so unless you get that port fixed I think you're sol...
Keep looking though maybe someone does have a signed zip but I haven't seen it.

Is there an update.zip that has a verified signature. If not then can't someone get it and do some tweaking and try and make it work. Please, and to let everyone know that I have already sent the phone to samsung and they determined that it is beyond economical repair. Whatever that means lol

No I just like the way the captivate looks. To answer your question about whether it charges or not. The answer is no for everything that's supposed to function properly. Meaning the USB port does not work in general. The question is, how hard is it if I repair it myself and could someone help me out here and make an update.zip that would work through recovery 3e

Try and understand this. Read it slowly if you have to.
THERE WILL NOT BE A WORKING UPDATE.ZIP FOR RECOVERY3E.
None of us work for Samsung and we cannot sign the zips. Try to take a few minutes to let that soak in. We have been dealing with recovery 3e since October/November of last year. There has been many efforts but bypassing it requires root. So stop asking for something that is likely NEVER going to happen.

This is a beta release of a program I tossed together to make it easier to perform some common tasks on the HTC Vivid. It will:
Walk you through the Bootloader Unlock process
Capture your Device Token for submission to HTCDev
Apply the Unlock_code.bin file to your device
Root your device
I expect a few bugs, however I have tested it on my laptop with positive results. I was able to Unlock the bootloader and lock it again. Everything is bundled so you don't need the Android SDK. The goal was to create something similar to the multi-tool, but for OS X. This is also different from the other Mac tool as it isn't using Apple Script but instead Objective-C. The user should never see a terminal window if all goes well.
Report any bugs if you want, and I'll get them fixed asap. Remember this is beta and I'm not responsible for your device, etc etc etc.

I'm adding CWM to the next version that will likely be out today. It will also have options to flash user-specified boot.img, system.img, and recovery.img files.
I got a message saying "You cant open the Application VividTools because it is not supported on this type of Mac" I am running a Macbook with MacOSX 10.6.8.
Thanks for the info, I'll take a look right away. If its an original MacBook it could be running 32-bit OS X, which may explain as the binary may have compiled for 64-bit.

Its a Macbook 1.1 that I got in 2007... So I'd say that probably the issue.
Thanks for this. I managed to unlock the BL with ease. I have not been able to root though. I see a green icon I would describe as "refresh download" and then a red exclamation "!". I end up having to pull the battery, then just boot normally. Tried it a few times; no luck.
Setup: OSX 10.7.3 / HTC Dev checkboxes enabled ( debug etc. ). Am I missing something? I usually am.
Thanks again.
I decided to test this while upgrading to ICS.
So I used it to relock my bootloader.
It said it was relocked succesfully but then said something about USB error. Probably because after relocking the phone restarts, so i think this was random.
After flashing the RUU, I tried to use this to unlock the bootloader again.
But it wasn't recognising my device. So I gave up and did everything manually whne finally I realised that the debugging mode wasn't on. Duuuurr. Turned it back on and the phone was recognised again.
However, rooting didn't work at all. It only took me to the Recovery screen. Nothing happened.
I loved the app, though. Finally someone's giving the proper attention for us Mac users. Hate having to borrow my mum's laptop in order to do the whole thing.
Keep up with the good work, you're on the right track
Failed to Root
It did not recognize my Vivid - no device detected.
Make sure you have USB Debugging switched on.
Have been testing out and seems to work well, the rooting section rebooted me to the recovery like someone else mentioned earlier.
I will keep an eye on this thread for updates.
Cheers

If he has problems with drivers and would search for it he would've probably got something like "try other drivers" or "reinstall drivers".
Or at least try kdz flash.

Its very likely out device makes use of a sbk, which it uses to encrypt all nvflash communication (nvflash is a nvidia protocal for acessing pre-bootloader states, with tegra devices this is done through apx mode.) Without knowing the sbk we have little hope of accessing nvflash via apx. I dont think it would be impossible to use a nexus 7 / asus tablet method to access nvflash but its a seroius undertaking for even the most skilled of developers.

Took the ota for 4.4.2 (bad idea #1) rooted via towel root v3 installed cwm via playfulgod's gflex app. (Bad idea #2) warning message told me not to I derped up and did it anyway.
Rebooted into recovery, wiped data/cache (she needed a reset for personal reasons) upon reboot I was prompted with a message *here is where I really messed up* message said something to the effect of "you may have lost root would you like to reroot?". I clicked OK (bad idea #3) and it hung at splash screen.
I have tried all unbrick methods on xda. I know what the crazy Korean screen says (with the barcode) and it is not at all relevant so don't get excited if you see it.
I was recently able to get into recovery wipe data/cache has no effect.

I know this is kinda of old, but the same thing happen to me today but with t-mobile. how did you get it to boot in recovery i tried everything and for the life of me i cant get it to boot in recovery or download mode, i can get it to the white page with koren letters and the imei on the bottom with bar code.
If you guys can get into recovery then get Dfuse's stock 4.2.2 jelly bean Rom for T-MOBILE AND AT&T ONLY.
T-MOBILE & AT&T ONLY!!!!! put the zip on a thumb drive and use a female usb to male micro usb adapter. Sold at radio shack. Amazon , best buy. Etc. Now in recovery make sure usb-otg is mounted, then navigate to the zip and flash. Don't forget to factory reset afterwards and before you boot.
I believe I have bricked my phone in the same way...has anyone been able to remedy this...I am able to get to recovery and to a download screen that says download with a img of a PC and phone. I have a Sprint version.
Thank you
If u can go into download mode try using lg flash tool go back to stock method.

XT1068 don't turn on (not even a sign of charging either)

Hi Guys, I'm not so sure if I can recover my device on my own (or at all), but here is the situation I have:
I was in stock recovery doing a full wipe and everything seemed to go fine (no errors or anything). Then I chose the option to reboot to bootloader by accident (was going to reboot to normal system) and then my device went all black. Now I can't turn it on (not even bootloader) and when connected to charger does not even show a sign of charging.
I tried to hold down the power+down button for a couple of minutes, or power+down+up and also only hold power button, but no results at all. Seems pretty dead for me at this point.
If anyone have any idea of what I can do before considering searching for repair assistance (which can be hard for me, because I have no warranty and I'm not even in my home country, so it is kind of a last resort for me), I will fully appreciate it.
Thanks!
It's called a hard brick. I've just hardbricked my phone too. If u connect it to your pc it should be recognised as qhsusb_bulk. There is a way to fix this but i don't know how. Praying for your help guys! Mine is xt1063
P.S. There's a guide for unbricking moto g 1gen and i'm afraid to apply it to my device. Mby it can help you somehow.

So finally i found out wha'ts going on. If you had 4.4.4 android before brick you can easily recover it by following the guide i gave u before. But if you had 5.0 or 6.0 then we're both f*cked :crying:

Yep, I'm in the same situation as you my friend. If nobody has the file for lollipop we are f...
Probably I'll need to see another device, even if temporary one for now. but lets see, maybe there is hope.

U had a regular brick, not the hard one. Auto restore script uses adb and bootloader. Hardbricked devices do not have access to any of these.
P.S. degrading bootloader from marshmallow's to lollipop's was the reason of bricking the device btw.
@luishr
Sorry to read this. Astonished to see how easy it is for a phone to get bricked. What new device did you buy?

Hey smitharro! I got a nexus 6. I am currently in Canada and got one for a good price (like around 40% cheaper than I can find in my country, where it is not sold officially by motorola as far as I know).
I'm really happy with it so far, but the whole situation was a bummer, because I was not planning to change my phone and spend money with this right now. The only thing that I still have to get used to is the size, because this is the first phone I own that it is this huge.

Congratulations on your nexus 6 (actually I'm a little jealous...). But I still hope my XT1068 will last a while, because these are the prices here (and I can't afford that):
