KitKat for SFR branded Z1- France? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
So I would like to know if any one of you, perticularly in France, got the update for SFR branded xperia z1,it's almost May and still nothing for me and Im not sure I can go through the manual updating process by myself ,all I have is some app updates every now and then..So? :/
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app

I flash the generic upon the SFR. No change with SFR (you can reinstall their apps) and you'll get updates faster.

No i didn't had it so i flash a custom one.
You can verify here

Bonjour
So you're saying it's better to flash a custom rom..im locked BL too!
But what were exactly the differeces you noticed between the Rom from SFR and the one you're using now?

First we don't have the useless apps form SFR, also i'm rooted, that's a big difference, the [NUT]'s ROM is based to the official stock one so it's like to have the official one with the root access and without SFR app

In fact the root process is included, just start to flash a stock 534fw and install dualrecovery that will root your phone

Just take a stock 534fw in the mega collection thread and flash it, then install XZDualRecovery, that will root your phone if necessary, then follow the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982

Xperia Z (C6603) 343 NL Stock firmware + root?

So I found this post: http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/04/01/debrand-your-xperia-z-tutorial/ look very nice and I would like to try it out. Then I found this ROM for my own country: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200945
Then I read the thread and saw people saying it would be easy to root it also without having a custom ROM. So i went to the recommenden post for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Now I have one question: Does this unlock your bootloader? I want to be sure it doesnt! And when I update my phone again after I rooted it do I need to root again? (with rooting there doesn't come another rom over it in this case, right?)
Thank you for your time!
BTW I have an Sony Xperia Z C6603 branded by T-Mobile
Flashing stock firmwares or custom rom doesn't change bootloader status.
After updating you have to root again.

Sorry but i didn't understand what you mean?
Rooting guide is to root your phone so you can access system files,it's not like changing roms or flashing.

This is my understanding too. Bear in mind that as soon as official updates are released a developer here will make it available on xda. This means you often get updates before you would normally (because they are rolled out at different times depending on carrier and region).

I have a 6606 and I flashed a 6603 Spain. Everything worked as it should. I then flashed 6603 Belgium to the newest one .244 and its awesome. If you want to tether, you need to wipe data via the flashtool. You can still back-up/restore using Sony pc companion.

So...what is the advantage of flashing another stock rom from another region. I dont understand the difference between the stock rom I allready have and the other various stock roms available here.

C6602: Hspa+ model

Help a brother out
When the Z1 first launched, I was able to root the device.
I'm ignorant enough to not know if I had unlocked the bootloader.
General forum research tells me that if I'm not sure if I unlocked the bootloader, it means I didn't unlock the bootloader.
I updated my Z1 (C9606) to 14.1.G.2.257 Build.
I'm still running Android 4.2.2
Is there a way to root device without unlocking?
If so, could someone point towards the thread I need to follow?
thanks!

[Q] Able to Root anymore?

Hey guys and girls i've had my Xperia Z C6603 since it came out and I had rooted it since it was realeased to be able to but the other day I went to flash a custom ROM and bricked it. I then used the Sony tool to put the latest OFW on and reset it and then tried many different rooting methods with no luck.
I have the
C6603 on 4.4.2 and the.bootloader is not allowed to be unlocked.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM and root it? And if so which method will work?

Indeed it does require an unlocked bootloader.
In your situation, the only way to gain root is to downgrade to a 4.2.2 firmware, root and flash a prerooted KitKat rom or a custom rom of your preference.

You're correct. There's no way to unlock your bootloader.
Yes, you will need to download a 4.2.2 firmware and flash it using Flashtool. This will probably require that you wipe your data, unfortunately.

Thats perfrctly fine, I had backed up all my data with Helium Premium to Dropbox before I bricked it but now need root to get it all back lol

1. Download a 4.2.2 FTF - Download.
2. Flash it with Flashtool.
3. Install XZDualRecovery using the unrooted method.
4. Install a prerooted KitKat rom, such as this or a custom rom of your choice.
If you need any help with Flashtool, then just ask.

When updating to a new ROM eg, one at 4.4.x do I really need to upgrade up each build version? I looked at the requirements and one requires the next down, and then again and I think I would need to do it like 4 times.
You shouldn't need to, as most custom roms provide everything you need. The zip sometimes contains everything or sometimes you have to use Flashtool to flash a supplied FTF for the kernel and baseband.
If you're unsure, you could ask in the specific thread for the rom.
