Hi,
I got a rooted G1 which has been working for a loong time with alot of different roms.. One day when I was browsing the internet it suddenly lost all connection and it hasn't worked since.. When I set it to automatically select a network it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network.". The SIM card works on my Motorola Milestone..
To try to fix this, I've installed the newest SPL and radio and tried the *#*# 4636 #*#* fix..
None of these "fixes" have worked..
I really do hope you can help me..
I think its related to the operator, my G1 for instance while roming gives me this error no matter what i do while im in Norway, works fine everywhere else though(many other countrys/operators), at the same time my Nokia has no issue roming in Norway.

He did NOT have these problems before as stated he was just browsing and it just stopped working. I think this is a hardware problem. Have you tried wiping and installing a different rom?

Yeah I've tried different roms and done alot of wiping.. Im not sure if its a hardware issue as it sometimes (perhaps a sec or two) connects to the network... I only think this has happened when i connected to the wifi.. hope this info helps you to figure out my problem

Just to keep the thread alive, I've chosen to make a simple post..
Help me, xda devs; you're my only hope.
Hey all,
since a couple of days I have a problem with my wifi, it keeps switching on and off (I can see the checkbox activating and deactivating, every couple of seconds, at the moment it is unchecked and says "error")
as I said, the wifi worked before
I am running cyanogen 7 (http://android.doshaska.net/cm7) on Milestone
- But I have also tried MIUI, with the same problem
does issue sound familiar to anyone?
Maybe it is an app which force turns my wifi on/off, is there any way to check which one it is (as far as I know I don't have an of them, eg juice defender, tasker installed)
Many thanks
Have you tried other WiFi networks? Because the same error being reproduced across two different ROMs seems a little unlikely.
Well, the problem is that my wifi doesn't stay on long enough (just a couple of seconds) to scan/connect to any network.

So it isn't a problem connecting to a network, it's a problem of the wifi not even being able to turn on?
Well "technically" it does turn on, but it switches off immediately

wow, i just logged in to search for this issue myself. I have that same issue across multiple roms also. The one that did work was the Telus Lite Eclair. I liked that one, but of course I wanted to check out others. Each one was the same as you describe. Wifi scans, disconnects, scans, in a loop.
I have done searches on google for wifi disconnect loop android, and seen some stuff about kernals and stuff that is over my head at the moment. If some one has an idea on how to get it working that would be great.
I wipe before any install, I've went back to stock and it works, everytime I went to the Telus Lite one it also always worked. I dont know if theres a clue there or not?
Im on an Telus milestone in Canada, on Telus network if that makes a difference.
And since I think this is my first real post, Thanks for the work guys.
Not sure if this would work, but this is the first result that popped up: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/koush/75782-wifi-disconnect-loop-cm6-final.html
EDIT: People are saying that Hidden SSIDs and MAC filtering can cause problems when trying to connect to the WiFi network. Try forgetting the network, making the network visible(protected if you wish) and reboot the phone and try again.
ok, time for a stupid question...
where do I find suitable kernels?
I can't find anything about this (roms and kernel tweaking is a is pretty well documented though)

As far as I know, you won't be able to change the kernel on the Milestone at all, due to the locked bootloader.

a little update, I checked my settings on my router and there was nothing really out of place. For poops and giggles I installed Shawdowmod, and it works with out issue with my wifi. Go figure. Anyway, think im keeping it.
Thanks for the help.
hmmm, good to hear you figured it out.
I just went back to stock and guess what? still nothing
maybe I'll try that rom and see
First of all, let me start of what I've tried doing, in order.
New SIM-card, factory reset, unlock + root, custom ICS (VirtousQuattro).
None of the above solved my problem, it still persists! The problem is, the phone disconnects completely from the network (no bars) and I can't manually search for a new provider due "active package transmission" or something like that, it stays disconnected for 1-3 minutes and then reconnects. It happens fairly often, like once for every 5 times I try using the phone. I haven't noticed the problem when being connected to a WiFi, so I'd assume the problem is related to an issue between the phone and the network.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any idea how to solve it?
Have you tried flashing a new Radio? I can't see how that would differ from flashing a custom ROM, but might be worth a shot?

I haven't tried that, I might in a couple of days if nobody has any other solution though.. I've had the problem for a couple of weeks so I'm kind of used to it!

So much for being "unlocked". Also, hey mate
Yes Naforcee, I have exactly the same problem. And it never happens while using wifi as you said.
It started immediately after I updated to Sense 3 / Android 2.3.5 from HTC.
What was the version of Android in your previous Rom? I had issues when I was on Froyo and went to Gingerbread without flashing a new radio.

I had 2.3.5 earlier, so that'd be GB. Same problems with ICS now though =/

Don't think it's a physical problem, I have perfect connection and it just dies out for about 2 min until it reconnects, and I can't search for network when it's down due to active packet transfer..
Could try a new SIM card. Might not fix it, but worth a shot - I've seen this posted as a fix for other people.
I used to have this problem on certain radios on the Desire Z, after flashing around a bunch of radios to try all of them. Stuck with one and it went away, so it was software for me.

New SIM was my first try to fix it, it didn't work.. I guess radio is the only solution left!

I was sick and tired of these problems, and then i made s-off, rooted and isntalled custom ROM and changed Radio 20.4802.30.0822U_3822.10.08.28_M and now everything is good

Try flashing this radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471861 using the ADB method. If that doesn't help I recommend doing a full wipe and reinstalling the ROM. There are a lot of different custom ROMs for IncS which can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136463
I personally like Niks ROM and Android Revolution HD.
Looks like rom installation issue.
My son's Inc-S having a similar problem to the OP, but more severe. A couple of weeks ago he entered airplane mode with all behaving normally, but since exiting airplane mode at the end of the flight he hasn't been able to register on the network (voice or data). We've tried:
fiddling with all the network settings
change sims (all sims work on my Inc2, none work on his IncS)
cleaning the antenna connections
reboot
factory reset
flashing new ROM (Android Revolution HD 2.3.0)
flashing new radio (3805.10.03.29_M)
So far, no satisfaction. We're still seeing no bars of reception (with an X) in the notification area, and don't have the option to manually or automatically register with any network operator (although several occasionally show up as options under "Search Networks"). We usually get the error message, "Unable to search for network while packet connection is active" when trying to select a network. Funny thing is, mobile network data has been shut off on his phone for the past month so the packet connection is definitely not active (wifi is on). Based on a network signal analyzer app, the phone is receiving the same mobile network signal as mine (-65 to -70 db) when they are side-by-side, so the problem does not appear to be in the antenna. The phone works just fine using wifi but is useless as a phone.
Any ideas about what to try next?

Probably a RIL-Radio communication issue. Recommended radio is the newer 3822.01.08.14_M radio, so maybe you should try that.
Hi community,
I'm a long-time lurker but just until today had the need to join this great place and bother you with a question. I already used the search feature and even googled this problem, which didn't quite helped as I'm still clueless.
Last nite, I switched ROM on my Desire C after being a long time user of Revolution MOD (thanks to @russell664) because sudden reboots started to affect my pone almost daily.
So I went ahead and flashed MiniJBProject (thanks to @penguin449) following the right steps (clean flash), rebooting after install in order to get WiFi enabled and everything seemed to work well until this morning, when I went outside my house and noticed Mobile Data doesn't work. I tried re-flashing ROM, switching between NOPE (thanks to @me4488) and Prometheus (thanks to @nikhil16242) kernels and frequencies to no avail (my pone doesn't go beyond 750 MHz), cleared Dalvik cache, fixed permissions in CWM, nothing.
As I said, WiFi does work just fine but Mobile Data is just not sending/receiving, I'm able to move the slider ON/OFF but get same results.
Then I thought my pone didn't like this specific ROM so I then flashed Revolution JB (thanks to @addictz10) again through clean flash, rebooted to get WiFi, and so on. Nothing. Still the same.
I feel like probably the problem has to do with CM10, since I didn't experience this issues with any of the Revolution Series ROMS.
Any further info you might need to shed some light, please feel free to ask. I'd really appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance.
By the way, I currently have Revolution JB in my pone.
I think you have to enter the apn settings for your carrier. Google for it. Go to settings, wireless and networks, mobile data, access point names, and enter your APN settings.

Most Roms will be able to use mobile data straight off the shelf if using a known, big carrier, for example T-Mobile, however if your using something more local, something not as well none, then you need to add the APN, if your on contract or PAYG with a different company that provides your network service, like TALKTALK uses vodafones, you need to add it otherwise it connects to vodafone, and uses vodafones APNs which, will not work.
Gotcha. Now I know for future ROMS. Thank you @penguin449

sorry to revive this issue but im currently experiencing difficulties regarding the issue. my phone suffers the same problem stated above, i already tried the stated solution but nothing happened. no G, E, or H showing up when i switch the data connection on. even the button on the notification drawer seems to be useless. im currently on minicm10 w/ prometheus kernel. i hope you can help me with my problem. thanks in advance
Hi guys,
This is my first post here but I've been abusing the search function pretty much all weekend for this issue.
Recently I updated my GT-P1000 to CM11 and the flashing went perfect and everything worked fine. Got all my apps etc sorted over wifi and everything was actually quite snappy and fast (for a pretty long-in-the-tooth machine).
Unfortunately I then took it outside and hadn't even thought to check if my 3G was working. It isn't.
I thought maybe it was a CM11 issue, so wiped it all and put CM9 (stable) on it but same issue; everything works except the mobile data.
I have reception and am registered on the network (Optus, Australia. Have just a data sim, no phone or sms capabilities) but for some reason my mobile data service says: Disconnected.
I've tried a few different modem installs from another thread but everything I tried it was all the same. APNs are exactly what they should be too.
If there's anything I need to add to help you guys let me know.
Thanks a lot!
Michael
Check if your IMEI is still 35xxxxxxxx
If it becomes 0049xxxxxxx you have a corrupted EFS. You need to restock to GB and check your IMEI. If ok, then flash CM again and check again.
Good luck.

Thanks mate, the IMEI is the 0049xxxxxxxxxxxx one so looks like that's the issue. I'll follow the restocking guide and see how we go.
Thanks a lot!
Michael
Well I restocked it which went well and the IMEI is back to 35xxxxxxx.
Unfortunately, still no 3G even though I've got the right APNs and everything.... Hmmmm...
-edit- also I notice the 'Mobile Data State' go on 'connecting' for a while before finally settling on 'disconnected' which it didn't do before.
-edit2- apparently I did have the wrong APN, my carrier sorted me out. I'm reflashing to CM9 to see if that was the issue there too.
Have sent an email to my provider to see if they can help at all.
Cheers
M
Just in case anyone landed here through Google my issue was resolved by restocking back to GB to reset my corrupted IMEI number.
Then I loaded CM9 (and actually on to CM11 now) like normal and everything is ok.
Make SURE you have the right APN set too. Sometimes they come across, sometimes they don't.
Cheers
M
