Hi Everyone,
I seem to be having some trouble with my 3 week old Kaiser. I had finally received my 4GB SD card today and i put it into the phone and copy all the files I needed. Then the kaiser started to freeze on TCPMP, so I did a soft-reset. And now it doesn't want to boot up anymore.
(I wasn't flashing to a ROM or anything, just copying and pasting files from PC)
When i boot, it reaches the 'Smart Mobility' black screen and then just shuts off. I left it charging for 20 minutes and still the same problem, only thing is that the longer I keep it charged, the longer it stays on the 'Smart Mobility' screen (tho max it stayed on was 15 seconds)
I don't think its a battery problem since I know for sure the battery is over 100% charged and light turns green when the charger is inserted.
I searched around on this site and online elsewhere and managed to do a hard reset and enter that bootloader screen but nothing new has happened and I'm not sure what to do in a bootloader screen. Weird thing is that once I enter the hard reset screen or bootloader, the unit doesn't shut off.
help?
try flashing a rom
As stated above, flash a ROM. If the hard reset didn´t fix the problem you might have some corruption in the file area containing the ROM. Flashing will probably fix this if it´s only a software fault. You can download a official rom from HTC e-club or if you got a branded phone from your service provider.
Hey everyone,
So I tried to flash Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid V2_1_65.14.06[CubeV2] through the Kaiser_RUU.exe file that came with the download.
First i started MITTY and used the codes:
5. typed "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. typed "task 28 55aa" to get the device formatted
7. typed "task 0" to ask the device reboot.
Then I loaded bootloader and opened the Kaiser_RUU.exe, I think it uploaded the new rom cuz the meter went all the to 100% and the program said I successfully loaded the new rom.
So the device restarts but nothing happens... Same problem again: I reach the 'Smart Mobility' black page and then the device turns off before reaching the 'HTC' symbol loading and 'Windows Mobile' pages.
Help?

Hence, you should always remove your card when flashing a new rom.
Oh memory card was removed the very second the device stopped working!
Also SIM card was taken out as well at that time.
Anyone experienced this before?
Hey everyone,
So this morning I got a call back from HTC and they have determined that it is water damage and want to replace the motherboard AND lcd for a fee of $353.26
But last time i saw, the LCD was working perfectly... i don't see why it needs to be replaced...
So I told them I'll call them back... and after much thought, these are my options:
1) Disregard the repairs and just get the unit back for $28.
then i) buy a used motherboard
or
ii) buy used motherboard AND lcd (if needed)
iii) buy either whole new unit or new different ppc phone
(recommend anything?)
2) Have HTC repair it:
either i) repair only the motherboard
OR ii) repair motherboard and replace the working screen
What do you guys suggest?
So was it rain or toilet?
water damage? thats wierd how did a 4GB memory card give you water damage? sounds to me like they,
1 are trying to screw you over
2 have your phone mixed up with someone else
3 the shipping people were vary violent with your phone
lol yea.. about that...
3 days before that whole mess happened... I was going down the rocks at the beach and slipped into the water (stepped on algea) and the phone was in my back pocket. I know the phone got A LITTLE wet and it started giving me "SIM door is unlocked, please lock it. Device will automatically turn off in 10 seconds" messages when I tried starting it. But a couple hours after the incident the device worked perfectly again. 2 days and a half later, I get my new memory card and BAM this happens.
You moister meter strip was pink. So they saw that and automatically assumed water damage.
dang, that sucks if it was me id have them ship it back and I would order parts and fix the phone my self or send it off to anoter place that fixes phones. One time my Zune tore up and I sent it off and with shipping and everything was about $30. It might be something simple and a cheap fix.
I have exactly the same problem with my s730 wings. And i'm sure it is not a water damage.

I would start by looking for a refurb that was less than $350.

Exactly. I picked up a broken one for parts pretty cheap ( around $100 ) and if youre sure you dont need the LCD, look on ebay for ones with broken LCD's. Those are going to be the ones with decent boards typically as the reason they are on ebay are because someone doesnt want to fuss with taking the thing apart.
Just my advice here.
Also heres a CHEAP one at buy it now for $275

Hi all,
Anyone else having any issues like this? I see this was a common problem on that HTC One X as well (thread for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010897 ). I haven't seen any reports of this and I searched the forums and the internet...maybe I've had bad luck because of the similar name, but I haven't heard anything official from XDA or otherwise
Occasionally, it seems that the middle area can work if there is enough static on the screen. Here is my screen map to show what I'm talking about:
UPDATE:
How strange. This issue started happening on Saturday, but on Monday when I was about to go down to T-Mobile to return the phone for a warranty repair, it suddenly fixed itself. I have full screen functionality. I didn't change any settings, didn't flash anything new, etc. The phone was never turned off (other than when I was testing if a restart or power cycle would fix it). I'll keep monitoring it in any case...

Exactly, I haven't heard before this similar problem... I think you are the first.
Have you installed a special app ?
Have you tried to reboot before to use it a another time ?
But I think that it's a problem with your touchscreen. So the best you can do, it's to send it back to HTC
This is definitely a digitizer defect. Only fix is to replace the glass/digitizer. Send it back to HTC as soon as possible because it will only get worse over time. I had the same problem with my one X

I have the same problem; RMA time it seems. I am a bit worried if they will accept it under warranty or not, because I unlocked the bootloader .

Did you find out if it can be replaced under warranty if you unlock your boot loader? I also have the exact same problem on mine the top part of my screen which has a completely bunked touch sensor it goes nuts if used touch anywhere near the top of the phone..
But like you I unlocked my boot loader and installed quite a few different roms thinking it would solve the problem… I am wondering if there is a way to relock the boot loader and make it look like it never happened? Although I doubt it because they probably have the information about the phone at HTC since they sent me the token to unlock it..
Well, apparently there isn't much you can do if you are on hboot 1.54 (like me), since you need to be s-off to erase the *tampered* flag if you just relock it will stay.
I didn't send it for repairs yet, but I will report when I do.
Hello guys,
i've got the same problem, my phone just started to act very wired, my top part of the display is not responsible, seems part of touchscreen is broken. Have you solved it somehow or you applied for warranty.
the same situation -bootloader unlocked and flashed different roms, I'm S ON, so can't flash RUU to see if it's software problem or HW
Did you brought it back to HTC? Since today im having the same problem.. Same for me, unlocked. Guess I'll have to pay

yes, you can simply revert everything back to stock, btw please do so asap, i'm really interested in if the stock will solve the problem with touchscreen, best would be if you flash RUU, please let me know the result

Yes I will report back when I flashed RUU. I'm pretty 100% this will not solve the problem but it's worth the try.
I'm also really struggling if I should it send back to HTC or not, I have this feeling they will flash my Hboot to 1.54 so newer customers can't get their hands on S-Off. A local telephone repair-dudey could fix my screen for 170 euro which is a pretty good deal.
I Sent HTC an e-mail with the current situation and still waiting for a reply, will report the whole story back

Okay I flashed RUU but with no avail. Im still having a line in my screen that doesnt work! I'm thinking of just letting it repair by the local telephone guy. HTC here in the netherlands work with an external company called Dynafix which will take about 3-4 weeks of time to repair it, and I'm also afraid that they will upgrade my hboot to 1.54 so I will lose the ability to s-off. (Not 100% sure, but just feeling it)
I hope you have enough information, we're both screwed without replacing a digitizer.. oh well, karma will strike back someday
They won't put you back to s-on, read in another thread that some phones ship with s-off and htc do not have any way of knowing who set the flag to off
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
HTC should replace your ones under warranty regardless of bootloader/soff. It is a physical hardware issue and has nothing to do with the software on the phone.

not good news, i was hoping that the problem might be fixed once RUU is flashed at least we know that repair center is the only option here
i would suggest to send the phone to HTC, better than to give it to someone to fix it, this phone is quite complicated when speaking about opening, but up to u and i think u will get a new phone if u send it to htc repair center... so no signs that the phone was opened etc.. up to u, the same with my phone, if i apply for warranty i will have to wait about 30 days, but for now no go without LOCKED and TEMPERED removed..
if i had to apply for warranty with tempered...no s off in upcoming few months, i will arrgue with HTC that screen HW itself doesn';t have anything with software, even if there would be status "hahaha htc" and not unlocked i will not pay for their crap more money
Well I have really no idea what happened but the phone decided to fix itself and I no longer have digitizer problems anymore.. So far its working (for over more then 8 hours already).
But yeah, you are right, it's probably better to bring it to HTC then a local repair shop when it get's broken again.
Well that's that, I really hope your phone kicks back to it's normal state aswell!! (I received an email regarding my issue and they said a factory reset would help, I doubt it though.. flashed a RUU and the problem was still there)
Same Problem ( is it HW or SW )
hello guys , i have the same problem as shown in the pic attached
i made HTC secret code and the Line Drawing test shows the problem well
, i made hard reset but still the same ,
i bought the phone from Amazon.com USA and now am in egypt
dont know if i can send it to HTC support
btw the problem time is unstable , sometimes working fine and other becoming weird any help ?
UPDATE : after contacting HTC support they replied to me with the below :
'' Thank you for your email regarding your HTC device. I apologize for the issues you have experienced with the device functionality, Mohamed.
There are a number of reasons that your device could be having this issue. It can be caused by an application, task killers, or software issues. To determine which one, we will need to put the phone in safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications.
Press and hold the power button until the power menu comes up then press and hold on the Power off option and pop up will come up with the option to reboot into safe mode.
After you put it in Safe Mode, try using it without third party applications for a at least 24 hours to see how the device works. If it does not have this issue, then it is one of your applications. Try adding them back one at a time to see which one is responsible.
If the issues still persist please contact HTC repairs: HTC RMA Center, 1-866-449-8358 8AM - 1AM ET 7 days a week. That way you can go through the repair process as it is a little complex and we would need to speak to you on the phone to setup the repair ticket.
If you have any other questions about your device please feel free to contact us via email at any time.''
i tried it but still the same , i think it is hardware issue :'(
Can anyone confirm whether this S-OFF software can re-lock the bootloader and make it look like the warranty is still intact ? I need to send my phone back to HTC for a new digitizer stat
Yeah it's possible. Here's a guide for you: http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
Hi!
First of all i want to clarify that i don't know how to root or do anything of that kind. I loved my HTC one and so i never messed with it. but about a month ago i dropped it on hard concrete and cracked it glass. but the phone was 100% functional. i used my phone for almost a month with that cracked glass. So that means that my dropping the phone has nothing to do with my problem. 3 days ago my HTC one's battery died, so i connected it to its own charger and let it charge for about 2 hours. But when i tried to power it on it went straight to bootloader with " ***TAMPERED*** " on top.
I tried to reboot it using volume and power keys but it returns to same screen. It returns to same screen no matter what i do.
here is the screen:
I took to to HTC service center. They gave up on me and said that they cannot accept warranty if its showing ***TAMPERED*** message. But honest to god i never even attempted to root it or do anything else. i only used to install offical updates.
I really need help on how do i solve this ! so if someone knows a solution then pls help!
The only way to get rid of tampered is to s off your phone. There are guides in the one general section

That (ie unlocking, S-Off, etc. etc.) is going to be a long and hard road, and possibly a futile one, because of the high chance that this is a hardware problem.
But here's what you could do, without too much trouble (no unlocking, no nothing, just as the phone is right now:
get firmware 4.20.707.7 (that's what shows on your screenshot) from here: http://xda6.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One/707/
and flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 4.20.707.7.zip
fastboot flash zip 4.20.707.7.zip <- yes TWICE !!
fastboot reboot-bootloader
The theory behind it is: TAMPERED should show up when you change recovery, the above firmware is official signed one, and would put your firmware back to stock, and if you're lucky remove the TAMPERED.
On the other hand, since you didn't change anything on your phone, but got the TAMPERED message, I would guess your phone has a hardware problem (other than the broken screen), and it's not going to be fixable.
And finally, why would the repair centre accept warranty anyway?? The broken screen is sort of a dead giveaway that the phone was physically damaged.... so the repair centre cares about TAMPERED but not the shattered screen
.

thanks for replying. ill try your solution and see if it works.
if its a hardware problem then it happened automatically, sitting on my table connected into charger. the cracked glass was a separate event. and was not claiming warranty for cracked glass. i m willing to pay for it. but Tampered thing is not my fault and hoped that experts there can solve it. but they wont except it even if had just Tampered problem with glass intact.
I just got the lollipop update and was going through the new features when all of a sudden the display went blank and then some coloured lines started to appear vertically on the screen. It was connected to the charger when this happened.
Anyone has any idea what caused this? :crying:
Is this a hardware or a software issue? Is it anywhere related to the lollipop update? If yes then how do I go back to kitkat when my screen doesn't show anything
Its not even one month and this happens. Should I return it to flipkart (the online store where I bought it from) and get a new piece or should I go to Motorola service center who charge Rs.6000(approx $100) for a new display.
(this is my first post so please forgive me if it's not according to the rules or if there are any mistakes)
If you haven't unlocked your bootloader you are covered my Motorola Warranty..They will replace your display free of charge...
BTW if you are still within the flipkart Returns limit contact them and have them give you a new phone..

The only way i know to check if it is a hardware issue is to flash a different ROM and see if the display works... I'm not sure about your phone but in a laptop this can happen due to an incompatible display driver or if the GPU is shot....And you can't revert to kitkat without rooting and voiding your warranty.... Better play safe and get the phone looked at by Motorola...
Hello everyone, I am from India and My HTC One is rooted, unlocked and international version.
I am in an urgent need of help as I am not able to figure out what has happened to my HTC One M7 and due to that don't know what to do next.
So all this happened last night, that is, 20th of February.
I have Insertcoin-7.1.3-REPACK-M7_UL_L50_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.2 ROM with Elementalx kernel, installed on my device.
I was uninstalling few apps from my device, during the procedure it started to hang so I had to restart it then again I continued uninstalling another app or the same app if it didn't uninstalled due to hang. This hanging thing happened for about 5 or 6 times as I was removing so many apps! So I restarted it for about 5-6 times and after uninstalling all the apps that I didn't needed, I opened avast antivirus cleanup app to free up the space covered by junk files. and during its procedure, again my htc got hang and I again tried to restart it and since then I am not able to switch it on, the only response that I can get it after pressing the power button, it boots upto the HTC logo then nothing happens! and when I tried to go into recovery and install a fresh rom, I easily get into bootloader menu and the volume key works fine as navigation but as soon as I tried to go into recovery by pressing power button, it hangs, I also tried to do a factory reset from the bootloader but same thing, its hanging. And when I plug it in charger, the led keeps blinking. I don't know what's wrong and what to do next. I have learned a lot from XDA, I hope you guys can help me out! thank you in advance.

Yes I know what it means, unfortunately. That basically mean you can throw it in a garbage can
QHSUSB_DLOAD can happen for known 2 reasons
You flashed an incompatible firmware and right after that it went it this mode - recoverable
It randomly went in this mode = hardware failure - unrecoverable/must replace the motherboard.
Since you were experiencing hangs when playing with files, I guess this is confirming an hardware issue, maybe with the EMMC.

Damn! That's sad to hear, I think that the reason is the second one only because it's been few months since I have been using that ROM and KERNEL, and It was working smoothly, not even a single error occurred ever. any idea about how much does that motherboard cost? I bought my HTC for 43,000 INR in August 2014, that too the single sim version and currently dual sim version is coming for 24,000 INR so I am not in favor of investing a huge amount into it.
Don't Change the motherboard

That's sad to hear, I think that the reason is the second one only because it's been few months since I have been using that ROM and KERNEL, and It was working smoothly, not even a single error occurred ever. any idea about how much does that motherboard cost? I bought my HTC for 43,000 INR in August 2014, that too the single sim version and currently dual sim version is coming for 24,000 INR so I am not in favor of investing a huge amount into it.

Hey there,
Even I had the exact same issue(out of country device-stuck at boot screen-unable to enter boot loader mode-no solutions give above works)[/B] from the last one and half week. I gave the mobile to the HTC service center and today I got a call telling that the mobile's motherboard has to be replaced and since it is a out of country device, the change will cost INR.16,500
And so I told them to return my mobile.
So don't go for changing the motherboard and best is to try some alternatives like selling or repairing by ourselves.
Some one if you feel that there is way for this issue PLEASE post it. It will help us a lot........
Please guys IT IS URGENT......IT IS HELL WITHOUT A MOBILE U LOVE

Hey! Thanks a lot for sharing your issue with me. I am thinking to first get it checked by the service center and let's see what they say and how much amount they ask for, I am in a favor of only investing 2-3k, not more than that. If they asked for more than 5k. I'll order motherboard directly or manage it from somewhere and will get it fixed from some local shop.
I love my phone but don't wanna invest much as I already have purple tint issue and I was thinking to get it repaired and now I've an another issue which should be fixed first.

Ive seen some MB replaced for around USD 150-200$ so I wouldn't expect to get it repaired under 5000 INR
You can find a motherboard for the international variant around 95$ (6500 INR). Cheaper MB (around USD 60$) like the Sprint and Verizon variant won't fit in your phone. If ordering a motherboard online also make sure it was not salvaged from a blacklisted phone as the IMEI# is tied to the motherboard so if you change your MB you'll get a new IMEI and you don't want it to be blacklisted. If you never repaired a phone before then expect some more fees cause you will most likely broke something when disassembling it, like a lot of ppl did.
