So don't root your phone
Yeah but they said too that you can update manually even though your phone is rooted but i don't know how to update manually. Can you teach me?
People have tried many apps in the past, and reported that they do not work
Can you post a screenshot showing it?

mi how to root samsung star 2 sm-g130e withot pc
Hello everyone,
I have a XT1079 and I made the mistake of flashing 1069´s ROM. Now I can´t install a custom rom and adb does not recognize my device (it is listed as 1069 with a question mark on the icon in device manager).
Any ideas for help me will be appreciated, thanks a lot.
If your phone is able to go into recovery , you just flash the stock firmware again or flash flashable zip of the stock ROM ( or may be some custom ROM (i'm not sure though)). This will kind of reset your phone and it will work again. But as you said, You have downgraded your phone, you need to check out which one to flash ...i mean whether to flash kitkat or lollipop version.

Problem is that the stock rom does not come in a zip file and I receive downgrade error msg when I try to flash via mfastboot. But I want to use Cyanogenmod ROM. Thanks again.

If you flashed XT1069 motoboot.img then you're simply screwed as you won't be able to connect to mobile network.

I solved the first part. I was using titan files and for XT1078 the correct one is thea. Problem now is that none of the sim cards are recognized by the firmware. Any ideas guys
I used twrp (mfastboot flash recovery <file_name>. and it´s interface it is pretty friendly. Also installed google apps zips. It is amazing how much you can customize with this ROM.

you have a xt1079 right? stop flashing WRONG files until you get correct xt1079 firmware - please tell us what you originally had on phone and we will try to find it for you.
I cant seem to find any brazil xt1079 firmwares - yet - you have no signal due to incorrect radio/modem files - only can find xt1079 retcn files this modem / radio combo will be wrong - yours will become available but may take months to appear.....
THIS is why we backup our stock roms with TRWP to include the PDS area
Hey guys!
I finally decided to update my z1 compact to 5.1.1
Currently I'm on 4.4.4 (.0.157 firmware); it's rooted thanks to a guide found on this forum that let me to not unlock my bootloader (but sincerely I don't remember which one was since it's passed about one 1 year :cyclops: )
I have to say that I've NOT backuped my DRM keys yet (bc I'm very very lazy  )
Now, what should I do in order to experience new Lollipop thrill on my device but still keeping root and bootloader locked on it? Can I update directly with new official firmware using Flashtool (and then root it) or os there some pre-rooted firmware that can be suitable with my case?
Sorry guys, I wrote in wrong section. I reported the thread to moderator already. I'm waiting for the shifting. I'm really sorry
Have a look at this thread --> PRF Creator
Basically, download the Lollipop firmware, and create a pre-rooted, flashable zip file that you can flash from your existing recovery.
If you look in the forums, some users will probably have uploaded a pre-rooted lollipop zip for you to try if you don't feel comfortable trying to do it yourself.
Hope that helps

Hiya,
It should work with any firmware really.
I've used it for my Z1, and my Z3, and used UK, CE1, and CE5 firmwares with no problems at all.
If you need any help, let me know.

Yes. They're only stock roms. They still have stock kernels.
You only need to unlock the bootloader if you want to run a custom kernel, like Cyanogenmod, or any other custom rom that doesn't use a stock Kernel.
All of my phones still have locked bootloaders.
All PRF does (very cleverly) is inject root and recovery into a stock ROM. The only reason the output file is a zip file is because we can't create ftf files ourselves. Those are signed by Sony. All you do is install the zip from an already existing recovery, so your phone must be rooted, with recovery already.

XZ Dual Recovery should work on the C6916 according to NUT.
I don't see why it wouldn't, it's still a Z1
It's in the compatibility list here,

Have you ever tried it?

You don't need an unlocked bootloader for nuts xz dual recovery.
The only thing you need is root, because you need permission to write to your phones system partition.

I don't know but I think not. Because the phones hardware isn't the same on all z1 types, you get the risk that something is not working or you are bricking your phone. That's the reason we have the different phone models like 6902, 6903,....
That's right. You can flash NUT's recovery on locked bootloader devices, that is what it was designed for, and the reason it's called 'lockeddualrecovery' :good:
If you flash a different model numbers firmware, then the modem is likely to be wrong for your carrier. If you look at some of the rom threads you'll see a lot of the Z1 C6903 roms contain patches for the C6902 also, which I'm assuming is the C6902's correct modem.
I don't know if you could flash another models on yours, but exclude the modem, thus retaining your own.
If you want to remain on stock, then I would highly recommend downloading your own model firmware from XperiFirm, SuperSU, and lockeddualrecovery for the Z1, then run it through PRF Creator. That way you'll end up with the correct firmware (and thus modem) which would be pre-rooted, with locked dual recovery.
Which firmware do you want to have? The latest for the US TM that I can see is
1277-0679 USA T-mobile US 14.5.B.0.247
---------- Post added at 03:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:34 PM ----------
I wonder if we could create a pre-rooted zip from the unbranded UK 14.6.A.1.236 by not including the modem whilst creating the zip.
If you flash a zip containing that firmware, but not the UK modem, it would leave the most up to date modem that you already have, so connectivity should not be lost.
When running PRF Creator, there is a tick box to include the modem or not.
I'm just thinking out loud here, as it seems to be a similar issue to the C6902 patches on C6903 firmares.
I'm no developer, so I could be wrong.

Same here buddy, same here.
Sent from my C6916 using XDA Free mobile app
Right, well, first things first.
To install recovery, download this --> Z1 Locked Dual Recovery 2.8.21 by NUT
This is the installer which you can run from your PC.
Make sure you have unknown sources ticked in your security settings, and USB debugging turned on in Developer options for it to work.
I use that one as I haven't tried the new combined installer/flashable recovery yet, and I know this one works fine on my Z1.
You could always download and use the newer combined one from NUT's download page if you wish, it's here --> Combined installer and flashable package
It's up to you on that.
Extract the zip file, then connect your phone to your PC while it's turned on, and double click the 'install.bat' and follow the on screen prompts. You will find that it will test reboot into recovery once it's finished anyway, if I remember correctly.
Once you have installed it, I would boot into recovery. You can press volume up or down when you turn your phone on, and it vibrates, or look for the NDR Utils app in your app drawer which is great for getting into recovery.
I like to use TWRP myself.
I'd create a backup once you're in recovery then at least you won't have to worry too much if anything does go wrong later.
Make sure you have a copy of the backup on an external SD card I would recommend.
That solves that problem.
Now, the newest firmware I have on my Z1 I have used PRF Creator, and created a zip file of it without including the modem files.
If you open the zip and look inside you will see the amss modem files, which are usually in the root directory, are missing.
This pre-rooted zip is C6903_Customized UK_1276-0875_14.6.A.1.236_R6D but without the modem files.
The zip can be downloaded here --> 14.6.A.1.236 For C6916 TM - UK Unbranded firmware with NO MODEM FILES
Be warned anyone downloading this that IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY MODEM FILES.
If you flash this in recovery, it will leave your current modem as is.
Now I can't guarantee that this will work, but you will have a working recovery anyway, so if it does go pear shaped, you can always restore that, and you'll be good.
PRF Zips will not wipe your userdata either, so anything on your internal memory will not be wiped.
While I find this good for minor OS version jumps, like 5.02 to 5.1.1, I do not recommend it for jumping different versions, i.e Lollipop back to KitKat for example. For something like that, I would personally prefer a full wipe.
Anyway, get the recovery installed and working, and once you're happy that you know how to use it, go ahead and flash the zip and see how you go.
If you do try it, and it works, great, just check your connectivity, mobile data, 2G, 3G, LTE, to make sure it's working ok.
If it doesn't work, I'm really sorry to have wasted your time, but you should be fine with a backup ready to fix any problems. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along with a fix.
Anyway, good luck :good:

i tried to do a clean install and wiped the data, dalvik cache, internal memory (zip file was on external SD), and cache then flashed the zip. After complete, I pressed "reboot." Screen went black and now the LED blinks orange. If I hold the power button, I feel the phone vibrate but nothing happens. Damnit.
edit: got fastboot and flashmode working again and I'm flashing stock 4.4.4. Maybe I'll try this method again to make sure I didn't mess something up along the way.
edit 2: after restoring stock 4.4.4 , re-rooting, re-doing the nuts recovery, then reflashing the the above zip...same problem. No hope for us on the c6916. I'll go back to 4.4.4 that ran better than 5.0.2 and just deal with the SD card issues in KK. Maybe i'll root it to fix that though..
So I just found out that Android auto still require lollipop or better. DAMNIT. Just when I'm happy by moving back to 4.4.4 i find out that to use a feature of the vehicle I'm getting soon, I need to go back to the broken ass 5.0.2 lollipop firmware us Z1s owners are stuck with.
There has to be a solution to get us to 5.1. There just has to be. Any ideas?
What would happen if we tried creating a 5.1.1 pre-rooted zip for the tmobile z1s without the kernel and without the modem. I assume 5.1.1 would just not boot with the outdated kernel for 5.0.2, but it might still be worth trying, right?

nobody read the multiple thread about this problem ?
Sorry but it's really annoying. (it's not about you, nothing personnal
Your problem is related to a different version between the boot_root image and, the system partition...
You could try to update your phone to the latest firmware (so you have to configure the wifi and then check in the "about" page for an update)
If an update if available, then I think this will solve your problem.
And be very carefull, never install (apk or worse, flash a partition ) something if no version is specified

Yeah, thank you!! Let me know if you can boot the phone with that stock kernel, and if security and developper options works. Try the Webcam and the music player too, thank you!

Oh my God yeah!! Today afternoon I will try it! So, works everything? Security and developper options too? Yeah bro, very thank you!!
-------------------------------------
Can you tell me what you did? You flashed the entire zip, or only the boot.img? And how? With twrp right?
Yes everything works. I did factory reset and the phone is back to default.
I extracted BOOT image and RECOVERY image with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
After that with I copied both BOOT and RECOVERY image in Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.
At last I've connected the phone to PC and flashed BOOT and RECOVERY image.
I've disconnected the phone booted in recovery did factory reset and after that phone booted normally.
Hi all,
Please help me out!
I have a note 8 with (N950U) - XAA/XAA/SPR - and I have not received a single OTA update!
I used the firmware science method to install a few updates and flashed (using Odin) when Oreo was released.
But now I want to solve this issue and start receiving OTA updates. I do not mind using Odin again to get this sorted - but preferable not lose my data.
Thank you
AM
Are you using it in the US on a US carrier?

Then that's probably why you're not getting OTAs.

Any Solutions??
I have tried looking for update on a US VPN but again, no result.
You think a change of region - SPR to something else will solve this issue?
Thnx
You have a branded device but not linked with any carrier in US. Change your firmware to an unbranded one and from CRL2 you will receive the last oreo stable CSA1 or you can download the firmware directly from an app like Updato from Google Play and wait that a beta stable on pie will be released.

Ok, this is the first guide as reference:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74087672&postcount=4
Odin Tool normal just in case you need it:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850505662
I used the patched version:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657595813
Last Oreo Odin rom available:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397886161
Staying in this version you have to theoretically receive updates from OTA

Thank you i am going to try this.
Question, the guide says "Note - If you are flashing Unlocked Firmware from Carrier Firmware you must use Prince Comsy Odin otherwise, use regular Odin."
So, in my case i am going from a 950U firmware to 950U1, should i use odin or prince comsy odin? and is there a way to keep my data? or will it be reset for sure?

Use the modded Odin mentioned.
You can keep your data but in this case you will go to switch to a different firmware so is better that you do a backup with SmartSwitch and them go to recovery, do a format/factory reset , then in Odin flash the firmware, reboot and restore your data

Great I will do a full reset. But when you say modded Odin is the prince comsey Odin?
try restoring your phone's firmware using Samsung Smart Switch.

I'm not sure what exactly is Comsy, I read about it but I guess this was an older version, I used the patched version linked in one of my previous posts and works like a charm. I switch from N950U to N950U1 and I had any trouble doing this procedure. About keep your data if you use Home_CSC you will preserve it but you need to delete your old CSC that is where go the preferences of a carrier, so you have to use CSC_oyn file instead

If you are not using a Sprint sim and your device is not a locked carrier (under contract) this message can't appear.
If you follow all the steps, factory resetting first in recovery, then flashing the CRL2 firmware including CSC_oyn then the bloat from the carrier has to be deleted.
It's probably too that you backed up settings with Smart Switch and then restored it, if this is the case try by factory resetting again and restore your backup but not your settings, also check any app related with sim provider that you backed up avoiding restore it.
Need help please

Im fairly new to the OTA and manual OS flashing thing. I dont understand any CRL2 or 3 whatever it is.. I would really appreciate if i could get a step by step guide about how to do it since im going to be making a transition from Nougat to Oreo (Or pie of possible). Please please i would really appreciate your help. as i dont want to brick my phone and i dont know what to do.
Thanks a bunch.

Well, the steps are in all the thread.
Let´s go for the obvious first; I guess actually you are not using a sim card from US so you are out of US now and then no need on any carrier´s bloat.
You need first of all switch to an unbranded firmware, it´s mean from N950U to N950U1.
If you are actually on nougat then flash this firmware that is the latest Oreo since you can upgrade after to Pie https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397886161 Use this modded Odin to flash it https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657595813
Process to flash through Odin and switch correctly to unbranded firmware:
- First of all backup your important data using SmartSwitch (you can do it on a SDCard inside your device)
- Enable USB Debugging in developer options and OEM unlock if present.
- Go to recovery and Factory Reset/Format Data.
- Then use menu "Reboot to bootloader" to go to download mode.
- Load the files on Odin and from the two CSC choose CSC_OYN to delete/reset all the preferences, start flashing and wait PASS message.
- Reboot normally to system.
From here to upgrade to Pie go to this site https://firmware.science and complete the following: Model number: SM-N950U1 (this will be from now your model number), in Current version put the firmware ended with CRL2 (the firmware that you flashed previously) and download the first Beta ended on CSAB; move the zip onto your device and go to recovery and flash it using Update from sdcard (this could be wipe again your data).
If you want to update to the second Beta repeat the previous process; complete as Current version: firmware ended on CSAB and choose and download firmware ended on CSBB (less sized).
And finally to go to the last Beta available do the same, Current version; firmware ended on CSBB and download firmware ended on ZSC2 and flash it again using recovery updater.
It could be more Betas but not available yet on Firmware.science.
From beta firmware it´s unlikely that you receive OTA but when an Official Pie be release theoretically you have to receive them normally or if you want to receive them just now then you have to stay on Oreo CRL2 you´ll receive an Oreo OTA update CSA1 (more or less 40MB) and wait from there that an official Pie will be release.
First of all thanks a lot for getting back to me so quick i really appreciate it. Yes youre right about not using the US sim card. If you could just bare with my rookie questions a bit more.
Do i download the "firmware" and modded odin into my note 08 by following your shared links or do i have to download them into PC. If phone, then shud it be on SD card or internal storage?
Second, """Go to recovery and Factory Reset/Format Data.
- Then use menu "Reboot to bootloader" to go to download mode.
- Load the files on Odin and from the two CSC choose CSC_OYN to delete/reset all the preferences, start flashing and wait PASS message.
- Reboot normally to system."""
I only know how to enable developer mode. Thats when you tap built number. But debugger and OEM idk that. And everything you mentioned in """ how do i do it ? Whats to be done on PC and what on computer i have no clue. Youll have to guide me like a child about this i apologise.
Judging by your pie statements. Thats very techincal to do. So i believe its better off going for Oreo for now and wait for the Pie update automatically.
Thanks in advance

The first firmware linked at Android File Host is Oreo, this firmware you have to flash it using Odin so download it with your pc and put it in any place of your preference onto your pc DON´T move it to your device.
Second, """Go to recovery and Factory Reset/Format Data.

This is indicated to make a clean flash, to delete/reset some APN preferences and some traces that came preinstalled with this device linked to a carrier.
- Then use menu "Reboot to bootloader" to go to download mode.
- Load the files on Odin and from the two CSC choose CSC_OYN to delete/reset all the preferences, start flashing and wait PASS message.
- Reboot normally to system."""

Unzip the firmware that you downloaded till get some files in .tar format, within these files you´ll find two CSC files, choose the CSC_OYN file and not the CSC_HOME on the CSC box and all the other files load them on every corresponding box: BL, AP, CP that you´ll find in Odin.
I only know how to enable developer mode. Thats when you tap built number. But debugger and OEM idk that. And everything you mentioned in """ how do i do it ? Whats to be done on PC and what on computer i have no clue. Youll have to guide me like a child about this i apologise.

No, I refer to OEM unlock option but I forgot that this option is not visible in this variant so forget it, just enable Developer Options and USB Debugging that you will find them then to tap on build number 7 times.
Here´s a tutorial about how to use Odin https://androidmtk.com/flash-samsung-stock-rom-using-odin just replace some step by the indicated here.

Really is not so hard to do all this but if you´re not so familiar you can flash just the firmware linked and wait for an OTA prompt update.
