Hi All,
I'm wanting to root my Z1, problem is i'm a bit worried as I've not rooted a sony before and it appears a bit more involved than HTC / Nexus etc.
I'm on 4.4.2, bootloader is locked, phone is sim unlocked.
Can anyone recommend the best available process for this as I've seen a few possible solutions and just dont want to brick my phone !!!!
Many thanks
There is no any problem if you just follow the instructions on the specific thread, which I suppose you know which one, to root your 4.4.2 KK .757 FW.
Install DualRecovery, Flash Pre-Rooted KK by NUT. Done.
..and don't be paranoid......just flash it...lol..

..I forgot...before anything you have to flash via Flashtool the .534 FW then install Dual recovery and Pre-Rooted...Sorry ..my bad...sometime I get lost...too many things...lol...

Hi,
I've been on 4.4.2 on my Sprint Moto X for quite a while now.
I'm rooted and unlocked with a custom recovery.
I've been holding off on the 4.4.4 update but recently it started nagging me to update.
I read that it has a lot of bugfixes so I figured why now.
I hit install update but it can't because of the custom recovery.
What is the process of upgrading to 4.4.4 if I'm on a custom recovery?
I searched for a tutorial but couldn't find one.
If someone could post a link that would be really helpful.
Thanks
You have 3 choices.
1. Flash stock recovery only, and as long as you've changed nothing else in the system, you should be able to take the ota.
2. Use fastboot/mfastboot and flash 4.4.4...if the sbf files are out.
3. Use RSDLite and flash 4.4.4...again, if the files are out.
This guide, under returning to stock covers all this. ☺

As far as this site goes, 4.4.4 Sbf isn't out yet.
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Not sure if there are other sources.
If not, option 1 is your only choice right now.
Ive tried towel and kingo.
Ive seen cf auto root, but not the proper file for my American n900a at&t version..
So am i just stuck and cant root?
You will need to downgrade to NC 4.4 2 rom then installed root and safe strap. Then go to root nl1 forum and follow the instructions

Go here first to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006. Then here to upgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/how-to-root-n900aucudnl1-4-4-4-12-24-t2983357
oh wow.. cf auto root wont even work for this too huh..
bummer
You need to follow the instructions I sent otherwise you are never going to obtain root period.
Thanks!!

Thank you so much to orphan203 and all of XDA. I've been monitoring the GalaxyNote3Root.com site for almost a year looking for a way to root my Note 3 (N900A) and I keep getting hit with AT&T updates that keep me locked down til another way to root hits the scene (I'm obviously an amateur). I figured I'd give downgrading and then rooting a shot so I found your post and followed the steps and BAM! After about a year of owning this damn phone I was finally able to root it. Thank you so much! I'll be donating to Towel Root for sure!!
Hi, I have some questions to you guys.
First. It's possible to downgrade my P8 Lite with ale-l21c432b574 to example ale-l21c432b170 without unlocking bootloader?
I tried to downgrade with official transition package from Huawei site but after downgrade (first install update.app from rollback package then I install update.app from older firmware package) I have white horizontal stripes on bootloader screen and in recovery, after bootloader screen getting black, and then to rescure phone I need install the newest firmware.
Secound. Have anyone method to root this B574 firmware without unlocking bootloader? I tried all 4.x.x versions of KingRoot, latest towelroot and latest framaroot.
Third. Is it possible to rearm bootloader when I unlock it? Is it worth to unlock?
Sorry for my bad English but I doing at my best to improve it. Please help me with phone ;_;

I didn't get that problem while downgrading. Did you download correct region firmware? Also reset you phone after all this procedure.

There might be but I recommend you to follow the classical root method. It isn't that difficult.
SuperSU >>>>>>King user
It is possible to relock the bootloader but it is not worth relocking it after it is unlocked. It is totally worth unlocking bootloader (Since you can root flash/custom roms/kernels/recoveries and also unbrick your phone.)
Well, last year i've got a second hand s5, (im not from usa so i cannot update it using the OTA) i've updated it following a turorial in here (cant remember which one), to update to 4.4.2 and root it, after a factory reset i did later, couldn't root it anymore, idk why, now i want to update it to marshmallow, so i came back here to ask how can i do it, and following which tutorial, since i dont want to end with a brick, btw it is safe to do it, there's any improvement doing this, etc, thanks for any advice given

Do i need to root first in order to install the new update?
Nope just install the update with odin
---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 PM ----------
Also only Android 5.0 and 4.4 are able to be rooted now
I got the version "G900AUCU2ANG3" i'll just go forward to the update G900AUCS4DQD1 (6.0.1)?, there's no risk of brick, or imei problems if i update? does it worth it?
No risk yeah it's worth it if you don't care about root
Which tutorial do i follow to install it with odin?
Hello people. I'm in this complicated situation because:
The phone is rooted and has LineageOS 14.1 and TWRP on it and it's S-ON
I need to go back to stock rom really badly,
but I can't since I'm not sure if I need to have the right stock recovery for it before doing the ruu (if recoveries are different for different ruus for this device).
I have that exact rom downloaded ( " M8_MINI_UL_K44_SENSE60_Vodafone_CH-DE_2.18.166.3 " ) , so what is the exact recovery version for it? If it needs the exact same version, can somebody upload it for me?
I can't find it, only have found those " memul-stock-recovery-2.16.401.1 " and " M8_MINI_UL_Stock_Recovery_2.19.401.1.img " those cannot be flashed, right?
If this all CAN be solved with sunshine s-off, just tell me what I need for that solution.
Thank you very much!
Im uncertain about flashing any stock recovery, you will have to try, if it fails flash TWRP back, thats all I can say as I only have an international device.
The recoveries you mentioned are of international devices.
Thank You

The page is german but you might find recoveries and backups here, restoring Nandroid backups of stock via TWRP is much easier compared to flashing everything to stock..

Stock Recovery for Vodafone :

https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347822262 (Latest version)
Stock RUU can be found here :

If you dont find your version let me know I will check and get back to you. Im assuming these stock recoveries would wprk for your device.
If you are not going back permanently better use Nandroid restore, it will save you a whole lot of hassle.
