[Question]Root B574 without unlocked bl or downgrade to B160/170 - P8lite General

Hi, I have some questions to you guys.
First. It's possible to downgrade my P8 Lite with ale-l21c432b574 to example ale-l21c432b170 without unlocking bootloader?
I tried to downgrade with official transition package from Huawei site but after downgrade (first install update.app from rollback package then I install update.app from older firmware package) I have white horizontal stripes on bootloader screen and in recovery, after bootloader screen getting black, and then to rescure phone I need install the newest firmware.
Secound. Have anyone method to root this B574 firmware without unlocking bootloader? I tried all 4.x.x versions of KingRoot, latest towelroot and latest framaroot.
Third. Is it possible to rearm bootloader when I unlock it? Is it worth to unlock?
Sorry for my bad English but I doing at my best to improve it. Please help me with phone ;_;

I didn't get that problem while downgrading. Did you download correct region firmware? Also reset you phone after all this procedure.

There might be but I recommend you to follow the classical root method. It isn't that difficult.

It is possible to relock the bootloader but it is not worth relocking it after it is unlocked. It is totally worth unlocking bootloader (Since you can root flash/custom roms/kernels/recoveries and also unbrick your phone.)

Root Advice

Hi All,
I'm wanting to root my Z1, problem is i'm a bit worried as I've not rooted a sony before and it appears a bit more involved than HTC / Nexus etc.
I'm on 4.4.2, bootloader is locked, phone is sim unlocked.
Can anyone recommend the best available process for this as I've seen a few possible solutions and just dont want to brick my phone !!!!
Many thanks
There is no any problem if you just follow the instructions on the specific thread, which I suppose you know which one, to root your 4.4.2 KK .757 FW.
Install DualRecovery, Flash Pre-Rooted KK by NUT. Done.
..and don't be paranoid......just flash it...lol..
---------- Post added at 03:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:44 PM ----------
..I forgot...before anything you have to flash via Flashtool the .534 FW then install Dual recovery and Pre-Rooted...Sorry ..my bad...sometime I get lost...too many things...lol...

Do i have to unroot before rolling back to marshmallow?

i'm trying to rollback to marshmallow using the official package, i found this in the precautions before installation
"2. Make sure your phone system version has not been unlocked or rooted."
1. why is that. is it because their policy against root or is it actually going to cause problems during the rollback process?
2. if yes i should unroot: do i simply click unroot from kingroot app or are there more comprehensive way to unroot?
thanks

not sure how to do that because i used kingroot with a single click
Just install stock recovery then flash the roll back package.
After that, flash stock MM rom for your device.

what about the bootloader that jonezie is talking about?
i flashed rooted c432b836 with rolback package first small one then i got c900b300, after that i flashed c432b136, and successfully got back to marshmalow. so, realy dont know why i need unroot or flash stock recovery, if its working anyway

For me, the only way to relock bootloader is flashing stock firmware.
Last time, I tried relock bootloader by SRK Tool and it costed me 2 days to get my device back to normal, since it encountered serious error.

Do i need to root first in order to install the new update?
Nope just install the update with odin
---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 PM ----------
Also only Android 5.0 and 4.4 are able to be rooted now
I got the version "G900AUCU2ANG3" i'll just go forward to the update G900AUCS4DQD1 (6.0.1)?, there's no risk of brick, or imei problems if i update? does it worth it?
No risk yeah it's worth it if you don't care about root
Which tutorial do i follow to install it with odin?

Chance to Android One

Hello
I have a question. Is it possible migrate to Android One? I read there is Moto X4 Fi version using Android One, so I don't if it is possible to change the rom on "normal" version
Is it a good idea? Yes, why? No way? XD
Thank you
It's possible without unlocking bootloader, I did that on my Moto X4 XT1900-6.

I used this image: PAYTON_FI_OPW27.57-25-2_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Download this file and extract both image and adb to the same folder.
Install Motorola Device Manager.
Now, boot your phone into fastboot, just turn it off and press volume down + power, connect the USB cable and execute the script.
The image are already on Oreo, the script contains instructions to erase userdata, even so, do a hard reset after flashing the phone.
Worked fine here, but do at your own risk.

No, the bootloader remain locked, probably you'll recebe updates, I'm waiting january patch to see.
Thanks for your contribution.
I just flashed this on my European XT1900-7 and it is working ok.
Although, unfortunately IMS-Services such as VoLTE and VoWiFi (WiFi-Calling) are disabled in this Project-Fi ROM
They are unchecked when opening test menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer.
Anybody has a clue on how to get this working?

Hi, I didn't received any ota updates, I think it's because of the software channel, mine is retbr.
What are the advantages of Android One?
How is the battery life?
The only thing I could find is the AntuTu score, more than 85k points.
That's a huge improvement...

Android Oreo update method

To update to Oreo can i use this method ? https://www.getdroidtips.com/huawei-p10-b360-oreo-firmware-update/
Or is it better to wait for OTA or FF approval ? Thanks
You can use HWOTA for updating. Here's a tutorial for older firmwares, but you can also use the firmware files for Oreo. Download from here.

Do i need unlocked bootloader for HWOTA update ?
Well, I tried it on a VTR-L29C432B180 (downloading the 3 files for Oreo, renaming them, using the update.bat with unlocked bootloader and all the steps) and ended up in eRecovery. Then I could restart the phone and it booted up, but it was the same version (B180).
Any ideas?
If you are updating from Oreo beta to Oreo, you can follow the guide that I wrote earlier: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/guide-upgrading-versions-emui-8-p10-to-t3748844

Did you let eRecovery do its job? HWOTA pushes the three update files to the phone, installs eRecovery and then provide commands, which tell eRecovery to install these three update files. So, if you did everything right, then eRecovery will install the update, don't cancel it.
If you need further help, contact me via PM.
When we found a solution we'll post it here for the public but for working on a problem it's better to chat directly.
@madoxx77 If your bootloader is locked, HWOTA will ask you to unlock it with the unlock code. Without unlocked bootloader it's not possible.

I don't know why my other reply appeared first to me after the post I'm quoting. Now I see this reply to my first post...
Nevertheless. I did it with the script. When it finished and asked me to hit Enter so the device would reboot, it entered erecovery and only got that screen where it wants to reinstall the original firmware and gives you the option to download it via Wifi. It failed to download it. And then, after a couple of tries, it booted up in Nougat (the same version I was running).
What step do you think went wrong? I used Same Brand Update or whatever it is called.
Cheers.

It seems that the recovery img files you flash with HWOTA are wrong. Please be sure to use these files.
The original recovery has an online check and doesn't allow scripts.
