Boot Loop - Tab dead?!?!?

Tab is running CWM Recovery and Gingerbread Overcome Rom beta 1. Has been running fine for 3/4 days. Yesterday the tab froze and rebooted twice. Tab was left on last night while on charge. This morning when I unplugged the tab it was off, so I switched it on but it is stuck in aboot loop. The Galaxy Tab Samsung screen displays but then just reboots.
I can get in Recovery and have performed a data wipe and cache wipe, made no difference.
I made a CW backup on Tuesday and checked afetr that it was on the sdcard, it was. However if I now try and do a restore from CW it claims there is no backup...
Is my tab dead? Is my internal memory dead?
I'm comlpetely lost now....
Can you get to the flash zip option in recovery? If you can try to reflash the ROM from the SD card. Have to tried starting over using Odin? Hope this helps. Good luck.
I can get to the flash zip but they are not there? This is whats making me think maybe there is an issue with the internal memory?? The tab has been freezing and rebooting at least once a day for the past 2 weeks or so?
Haven't tried the odin route yet, will give that a go tonight
If you wiped everything then yes, that will delete your internal memory.
Follow the Overcome guide to use Odin and restock to the GB safe rom, then go back to Overcome.

Haha, itbis
All youll need is:
Odin 1.7
P1_hidden.pit
GB-stocksafe.zip (i think thats what its called)
And the Obercome beta rom.
Hope it works out well for you.
| Don't Revive Me Bro! |
this also happened to my tab (because i was playing around with my system files) i just reflashed the ROM and it was fixed, dont worry about it being bricked as long as you can still access CWM and download mode
hopefully you backed up
good luck! hope you get it fixed!
Think I could be in trouble. Followed the odin steps and got a big Red fail on Completing (Write) - Fail
Now whenever i turn it on all I have is a phone icon with a broken line going to a pc icon, cant even get into recovery!
Just flash dbdata. Don't worry, it's not bricked if you can still power it on and odin recognise it.

Try what again? I've tried switching off and on again several times? Do you mean try the odin steps again? If so I have twice and both times ended with the same Fail. I am really starting to think there is a serious issue with my internal memory...

There is a dbdata.tar file somewhere on roto rom's thread or chainfire's gingerbread rom. If it's a zip, extract it beforz. Flash it as pda.

I've had random reboots running a few different roms. It sucks and it does require a complete wipe. I end up going back to heimdall and reflashing all vzw images. Then I'm on a clean path to a fresh start.

Tab won't even switch on to alternative mode now other than when it's plugged into the wall socket power charger!?!?
Anyone able to offer an help? The tab will not boot unless it's plugged in charger, so when plugged into pc/laptop will not boot so I can't get to download mode..
Have managed to get it to switch on now but still getting the write failed when trying to flash the PDA. Have tried the GB Stock Safe and have tried the official samsung, both fail. This really does sound like an internal memory issue to me as everything seems to work fine until itgoes to write to the memory, does that sound feasible or am I just panicking?
One piece of advise...make sure that your battery is fully charged before you start anything....like if you plug it in will it show it charging...because if you start messing around with Odin or flashing and it dies from lack of power....then you will be SOL....I just had to send two into Samsung in the U.K. to get them flashed back to normal....but followed the Overcome rom instructions and both now have 2.3.3 android...Good luck!

Need help with internal storage!

Well guys....i think this problem stems from me prematurely removing the usb cord. I Understand that. But here is the other couple of predicaments. lol Ok i'm on ICS Stunna 4.3 ......well after something went wrong i'm unable to "repair" my internal storage. Everything still works smooth....but i can't add things to my internal card. Every time i hook up to the computer it says it needs to scan and fix the card.Well the problem is starts to fix it.....but never does....progress bar never finishes. Tried this on 3 different computers. Nothing. So try to install a different rom....i have some on my internal and external. Always aborts in cmw....never finishes. So on top of all this Stunna has started acting odd. Likely read errors.....but problem is i can't switch roms! lol I have tried everything. I was wondering should i format both cards? But if i do that how can i back everything up if i can't access my card? Any help would be appreciated guys. Hoping i don't have to Odin back to stock.
Cliffs- Internal storage won't repair on any computer-Can't install anything in CMW because of it
I have the exact same problem now, as you do. CWM can't install any .zip files, I can't flash Abyss kernel, so it's just stuck in that end.
I installed ICS Stunner 4.5 coming from GB with full wipe. This happened to me after I tried to copy some files over to external SD Card and it failed, seemed like the phone froze (SOD), so I figured flashing another modem would do the trick (read it in ICS Stunner thread's 1st post). Tried to transfer the file over a cable, but same thing happened. After rebooting I just grabbed it from dropbox and installed the modem successfully. I went ahead to try and fix the mounting problem, so I plug in the cable and it offers me to scan and fix both partitions (internal and external). External card finishes successfully, but not the internal one. And after that I'm in the same situation as OP.
Any ideas anyone?
Enable usb debugging(setting-appl-development)
Connect to pc
Select to copy file to fr computer from notification
You will find separate drive letter for int n ext card
Rt click on int sd card letter n format(you can backup imp data to pc b4 this)
Hope it shud b fixed

Gonna try it now. Have lots of pictures to backup first tho
EDIT: Same thing happens as with scan and fix procedure. It starts and just sits there, nothing happens. When I try to stop "USB Storage in use" it just shows the spinner and hangs in there. Only holding the power button helps solve this. My guess is something in the internal SD card partition is broken... just can't say what or how to fix it.

Same problem^^^^ Not sure what to do about all this
Short story:
Formatting didn't work.
Long story:
Okay, so following the idea to format the internal sd card's partition, I achieved it not through Windows format dialog, but through the half-broken CWM. Both my SD Cards were formated (internal and external) in the process. So since I used the external one for backing up important info I had to use [email protected] UNDELETE to get it back (after booting to ICS). In the process the native SD Card mount service seemed like broken, I had to perform a few hard resets. Hangs seemed to occur whenever I tried writing to one of the cards. I downloaded multi-mount SD card app from Play Store and transfered AbyssKernel's .zip and now when I try to install it from CWM it says
Installing: /sdcard/AbyssNotekernel42RedTouchOriginalLogo.zip

I don't know if this will help or not but give it a try.
Enter into the download mode and flash any stock firmware using PC Odin. This way you don't need to access any of the cards. After flashing stock ROM, try fixing the internal SD again and if it still doesn't fix, send in your note to Samsung for repairs.
Sounds too simple to be working though but worth a shot.

Well for now the phone works, but it's stuck on ICS Stunner. I was thinking to use PC Odin or Mobile ODIN, but what if it doesn't work because the partition is corrupted in some way (as it is now, because CWM can't flash anything).
I'd like to hear more insight before I go the odin-way

I'm downloading an old GB rom myself..
While I am, I can share a thought: I feel that ICS is not yet ready.. at least not for me. Feels nice and fast but buggy USB transfers is a big no-go for me. Also after trying AOSP derived ROM, I decided to wait for a good Samsung edition ICS because all the little tweaks add a good feeling to the experience, I tend to miss them on AOSP or AOKP or w/e

Oooh thanks! Didn't know this. So now I'm pretty confident because if flashing conventionally fails I'll just repartition and get rid of all the partition errors. What do you know, I feel like I learned something new today
SOB! Just did the whole Odin to stock thing and i am stuck in a bootloop! lol
I think my problem is used a .tar instead of .pit.....where can i get the .pit?
Ye same happened to me. Reboot to recovery (volume up + home + power) and do a data wipe/factory reset. After that it boots. Rooted and flashed CWM just fine after that, copying my old GB nandroid backup to SD card as I write

Yeah. After quite a time of failed attempts we succeeded. ODIN > Stock GB ROM > ROOT + CMW > Anything you like. No re-partitioning was needed in the process
i have same problem but more complicated. iam on stock GB and its happened after flash bad kernel
the case in detail's :
i flashed wrong kernel on my device previously and now when iam trying to flash another kernel even use ODIN or CWM everything going well and completed but when check i found the old kernel still. i tried many times with same results and no error .
- system can read/write/mount the internal memory but the new pasted files deleted after restart. external card behave normal and i can preform flash using files pasted on it.
- in CWM wipe/format/flash operations running well but no effect on device even restarted to CWM only.
- device has yellow triangle. is it effected?
- the devil kernel stacked in machine is 2.6.35.7-gb4846d2 [email protected] #2 and the build no. is jpkj4
system running normal but cannot keep any changes i do if restarted.
-system rooted and no problem with root
-can access adb
- ODIN behave same CWM, operation work but no change.
can anyone help me guys?
i did repartition the memory useing PIT for note butno change also
thank you all in advance

[Q] Is my note superbricked?

Hi,
Tried to install Kingdroid 1.5 yesterday. since than I'm trying to fix my note with no success.
This is what I tried to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652831
I failed to do the following step:
-We went into recovery and install this kernel without leaving the recovery going to advanced and reboot in recovery
And the rom was not installed successfully.
because of panic, tried to restore my device to stock ICS from a previous backup - failed.
Tried another backup of GB - Failed.
Tried ODIN for Stock ICS and succeeded.
After success on this, tried restoring again to my previous backup, and since than I'm stuck on " factoryfs.img"
Tried Abd, but my device was not recognized on 3 Win machines and 1 linux box.
I have download mode available, and also recovery mode.
Currently, I'm bricked, thinking to take it to the shop I bought it at...
Any other Ideas?
Thanks a lot!

If you have download mode available, then you're not bricked, only soft-bricked perhaps.
Try flashing again with Odin...
From my knowledge, superbricks occur when wiping on an unsafe ICS kernel, such as old i9220 leak repack, LPY...

CM9 kernels, based on i9100 update 4 are safe. That makes official Cyanogen Mod 9 Nightlies and ROMs like Asylum and ParanoidAndroid safe
From his post I got that he was able to flash official ICS with Odin once, meaning it didn't get stuck at factory.fs...so...might be still hope

can boot recovery mode
can be flashed via odin
can NOT:

-data can not be wiped (Processbar starts but never really start doing something) CWM6. I had some other recoverys and they gave me some messages like can not accsess data/csc or something like these messages in other posts.
-can not do anything in recoverymode exepted, wipe cache.
-can not update zip
-can not gain accsess to sdcard ore sideby
-cant reboot in recovery.
i flashed with odin (and Aries.ops):
-broodROM_RC5
-the right StockROM
-phone seems to be bricked
-no access with Quickflash (dont know if debug mode was or is enabled)
i found some people with similar problems with other devices (i9000 // i9100), but not with the i9001. so i write it here.
always the answer was try a full wipe/reset, but i cant or dont know how to it when the recoverymod or stock recovery doesnt do it.

yes, i tried but it did not work, neither from stock or custom ROM.
I'm having the exact same problems. It all started when I updated CWM to 6.0.2.8 as recomended by ivendor, in order to flash CM10. Since then I can't wipe data partition, and no matter what I flash (through both Odin and CWM), the phone doesn't boot anymore. Tried to restore original Samsung ROM, no success... Hasn't anyone figure it out? It seems a large number of user have dealt with this issue in the last days, perhaps the coder of CWM 6.0.2.8 should explain how to fix this mess.
I went to a local phone service, and they said they can't do anything, the whole internal memory has to be replaced. I can't believe this.
No solution?
I have exectly the same problem and i tried everything. I still can get to recovery and download mode, because i didnt mess with reseting broken partition. Can this be solved? I didnt find anyhing in threads, and it seems that a lot of people have this kind of problem now. It all happend on my s+ while i was trying to flash CM10 Beta4.

I managed to "rescue" my eMMC-bricked phone by doing everything I could find about the eMMC brick bug killed my i9001. No root but I can live with that until someone comes up with a better fix.. Good luck, I wish I had a better step by step instruction list on how I did it but honestly I just frantically tried things over and over in different order and finally got it going.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2234489
I guess...
1. Get TWRP 2.2.2.1 or CWM 5.5.0.4/the new 2.6-based 6.0.2.8 CWM recovery flashed.
2. Use QuickWipe (link in my post to the OP).
3. Use ODIN 4.43 to flash that 1.4GB fixmev2.tar file (I did it at least 2-3 times during different stages)
4. Follow the instructions in the links in my post.
5. Good luck.
6. Wait for the devs to solve this problem permanently with new kernels and ROMs and thank them when they solve it.

EDIT: after it died last night (tried to force root permissions and it would no longer boot) and fiddling to get it back to working condition I tried flashing the file in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38671295&postcount=2) to reset partitions and the phone is now stone dead... a true brick.. absolutely nothing happens when I try to power up, enter recovery mode, whatever.. it's dead... stone cold..

[Q] Need to backup files from i9000 with no display`

Hi all, I have an i9000 with a broken screen and digitiser. I need to recover the data from it (pictures mainly). There is no display at all but the phone is working otherwise - I can hear it booting up and I can put it into Download and Recovery modes.
Unfortunately it's running the stock firmware so I can't use Recovery Mode to mount USB storage. When turned on normally, it will connect to my PC but obviously I can't press the button to mount storage (why doesn't it mount automatically???).
Does anyone have any ideas? I am considering flashing a new kernel to get CWM Recovery and possibly blindly mount USB storage. But I don't know the current stock firmware so I'm unsure which version of Semaphore/CF-root to flash...
Is there any other way? Other than buying another i9000 with a working LCD/digitiser which would be too expensive.

Try this: http://78.46.194.137/kernels/Semaphore_2.7.4.tar . Flash it via Odin.

Thanks for that. Is it definitely possible to flash it without interaction on the phone? I've flashed with Odin before but it's been a while.
If I did flash it successfully, do you know which version of CWM would it use? I need to know the exact order of options in the CWM Recovery so I could blind mount the USB storage...

Well, I'm on KK and I'm using a kernel different from the one I sent you (Higher Version). I will let you know after some research!
Why don't you get your phone to the nearest Samsung Service Center otherwise?

Cheers! I think it would be too expensive to take to a Service Centre unfortunately (plus there aren't any nearby). I'm looking at broken i9000s on Ebay at the moment, maybe I can find one for not too much and swap the parts over...

Do you remember if you've enabled USB Debugging?

Annoyingly I think it's disabled - I have tried using adb but it doesn't show up under devices. It's my sister's phone which is why it's not rooted (or backed up!) etc.

Okay, I'll try flashing the kernel myself and then let you know

Okay! After flashing the kernel I asked you to and getting into recovery mode, click the volume down button 5 times and then, enter it and click again.
NOTE: The Backup will take at max half an hour. So, I suggest you leave it on charging whilst it backs up and take a look at it after 1 hour

Thanks so much! Just to clarify - scrolling down 5 times and pressing enter twice mounts the USB storage? Then I can access the internal SD card and back up the contents using my PC?
Also for the flashing process - I put the phone in Download mode, connect it to PC and flash using Odin, selecting the 2.7.4 tar as PDA? Then disconnect phone and remove battery, then boot into CWM?
Also another issue I'm worried about is the current firmware on the phone, because apparently Semaphore 2.7.4 won't work on pre-JW4 firmwares. Is there any way to check the current firmware using Odin or something?

Scrolling down 5 times and clicking twice runs the backup. You don't need to mount USB Storage! As for the flashing process you're right and it will work as long as you have the USB Drivers installed!
And yeah, the thanks button is right there (where ever it is).

Oh OK, where does the backup go? I'm not using a MicroSD at the moment. I think it would be best for me just to mount the USB storage so I can retrieve the photos etc to my PC. I don't need a full backup, I just need to transfer the important files to my PC.
Also you may have missed my previous comment, I'll paste it here:

The Backup is mostly stored in the Internal SD Card. Regarding the flashing thing, Even if you flash a KK Kernel, it would boot to Recovery, but not to system.
