I'm running the official KK ROM and am unable to locate "Notification Access" or the notification history that was supposedly added in 4.3. It's supposed to be under Settings > Security > Notifications, but there's no such thing on my device. This is supposed to replace the Accessibility Services system for apps wanting to better control notifications.
I have 5 apps listed under Accessibility Services: Greenify and Light Flow and then 3 related to my Pebble Steel- Pebble, Nav Me, and Music Boss.
All are turned off in Accessibility Services and appear to be working properly. Light Flow does not give me a warning that the notification system needs to be enabled.
Where do I toggle these notifications services?
Edit- This is what I'm talking about: http://tech.firstpost.com/news-anal...t-developers-access-notifications-101802.html

Hmm, you're right, it's not accessible through the settings menu. However, some launchers, (like Nova) can create an activity shortcut to that service/setting. Alternatively, there are apps available on the Play Store that can create activity shortcuts as well.

I know LightFlow does prompt for access/permission when you install/open it, and I would assume the other apps you mention probably do as well.

it's possible. I have some apps that take me to the old accessibility services page still. I didn't know there was a new notification access system when I would have enabled those settings. when I installed a new app it that required this, it took me to accessibility, but then said not to use accessibility in 4.3+ lol. I was confused until I discovered the new notification access, and even more confused when I couldn't find it's settings page.

Go into settings apps..
start with apps you do not know. Look at there icon. see if you see one similar. If not then stop one app running at a time check to see if its gone . Continue until you find the program..
Good Luck

Looks like the icon that pops up for watching porn. It's permanent. :silly:
Kidding aside, I don't know what that gear is, but on the SGS3 there was a similar issue brought up and it wound up being a notification bar notification toggle icon.

Do you have the Power Controls Widget installed? There was an update to this particular widget yesterday and now it's showing the same on mine (gear)... Not sure why they added it to the notifications ...
Have you updated your tablet yet might be the update icon if not its a persistent app that's running in the background and use a app called startup manager it will help you figure out the app.

That's definitely the power control widget causing that. You were able to hide it easily until the most recent update, and I haven't figured out how to hide it since

you can hide notifications for any app in jellybean - settinsg > applications > find the application > untick 'display notifications' (or whatever it says)
Don't forget about the new JB feature.
If you hold down a notification, it will give you an "App Info" selection.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. When Power Controls was background updated yesterday, the setting 'Notification Icon' in the app settings was reverted to 'default' (which displays the gear icon). I had previously set this to 'transparent' but now notice that that setting still takes up a slot on the notification bar & looks weird when it's sandwiched between 2 notification icons. I've since set the 'Notification Icon' setting to 'Battery 3' and have removed my Battery Widget? Reborn! widget & notification icon. Thanks to everyone for their help & suggestions. Notification Pop Ups.. missing on Note 8 SM-N950U1 :crying:
For the life of me I can't figure out how to get Pop Up notifications to show up on screen. When a new item comes it , it just flashes a color but not PopUp I was used to on previous phones.
I tried everything, even booted in safe mode to make sure it wasn't an app causing it.
I use systemtuner ui, it gives you the possibility to manage how notifications are handled, search for it it in the "app themes and mods" subforum
Go to Settings->Display->Edge screen and then toggle "Edge lighting" off:

If you want every time you have a message notification your screen to turn on and see lockscreen with the notification details this isn't working in most of Samsung mobiles.... You have AOD instead....
But if you want this like me you have to use a free 3rd party app from playstore that works perfect with zero battery infect "glimpse notification"....
Just install give permission and ad to "white list" all the apps that you want to wake up your screen when a notification arrives... Don't forget to mark notifications led to work with the app (in app settings)
Default notification head-up doesn't work if you turned on Edge lighting. You can choose either one only.
Edge lighting off - default style notification head-up
Edge lighting on - a small samsung own overlay pop-up will displayed (not the default style) and edge will light up
i use Heads-up Notifications by Simen.codes from playstore

I don't know why, but Google just avoid adding NFC switch to top menu to fast turn on and off. I have NFC widget, but it's third party app that's just a shortcut to settings menu, not the actual switch. Any help?
If you have root you will add nfc toggle to quick setting over macrodroid
There is a toggle for NFC in quick settings. Just pull down quick settings twice, then edit on the left and you'll see it. Press and hold it to move it to the top 6 if you like.
Without root you can run an Automate flow to add a NFC tile: https://llamalab.com/automate/community/flows/35435

No, there isn't anything like that in my Pixel 5. I've checked it even now, wondering if I miss it first time, but unfortunately there is no such shortcut in that menu.

How to open/execute the downloaded file?
You would need to install the Automate app through the Play Store. You will find a "Community" button in the side menu. There you can search for "NFC tile" for instance.

Add custom Quick Settings tiles for pretty much everything.
Open app -> System (no root) -> NFC -> Enable tile
Pull down notification bar x2 to open quick settings. Tap the pencil icon on the bottom left.
Find the tile you just enabled and drag it to the top.

The phone is on latest OTA and completely stock. Also, I don't use any customization app.
If rooted try a custom ROM. First thing I need to do is actually turn NFC off.
Are you rooted?
I've tried 4 ROMs and all are amazing with different features depending on what you're looking for.
I believe stock though also has this setting.
And Playstore has many Apps to mess with.

Hey are you rooted?
I just tried it myself with the app. The first tap took me to the settings while asking for superuser permissions, and after I granted SU, the second tap onwards toggled the actual NFC.
So I think the direct NFC toggling (via this app) requires root.

Thx, but it's still shortcut, which I already have installed via Quick settings app.
Is this a Samsung thing where they intentionally butchered this feature except for in their own messaging app? Floating bubbles is set in the notification settings but when I search for the option in Facebook Messenger, all I get is the option for the crappy chat heads. On my Pixel 6, I can set this option. I even tried copying over the exact apk that is working from the Pixel to the Samsung phone and the option is still not there.

No, the bubbles option. In Settings -> Notifications -> Advanced Settings -> Floating notifications there are 3 options: Off, Bubbles, and the one you have in your screenshot. I am wanting bubbles so that all my conversations across all my apps are grouped together. I have bubbles enabled in that settings menu but the option still doesn't show for me in any app besides Samsung Messages.

Sorry, it's disorienting when you lose your preferred IU... I know.
I hate that interface... so I was happy to ditch it.
Can't even find it now, I may have package disabled it almost 2 years ago.
Not sure if it can do what you want.
Play with it... Samsung's are very customizable.

That particular option does what I want on phones made from different manufacturers. It seems Samsung is blocking it somewhere. I was hoping that someone would have some idea of what package blocks it so I can disable that. Perhaps that is just something that will never work, kind of like visual voicemail in the native phone app on a Samsung deice.
Why not just use Google's Messaging app, which has these features and is also pre-installed?
I couldn't easily see what is Samsung's or Google's Messages App ('Berichten' in Dutch), but both were included with OneUI 4.0. See attached picture: left is Google right is Samsung Messaging. Google allows attachments.

You are right, I didn't understand the Bubble thing. Should have read better. Also I think I mixed up your thread with other in S21 + forum
Haven't tested in OneUI 4, but bubbles for FB Messenger / Signal did work for me back in OneUI 3.
Besides setting Floating notifications - Bubbles, also try FB Messenger - App info - Notifications - Notification categories - Show as bubbles - All / Selected only.
Supported apps also seem to have a little icon in the notification, I assume it allows bubbles for that specific conversation.
Although I am enjoying the phone, there are a few issues that I struggle to get rid of.
The biggest is the lack of update so I can finally add a card to google wallet, but I'm trying to be patient.
1. Other than that, text messages....As explained earlier, it seems the debloat script removed it for some reason. I want to restore it by adding the script changing the 0 to 1, but I don't know what line referes to the message app. Any ideas? There is nothing in the debloat script saying "message" or "sms/mms"
2. Sometimes I accidently swipe right on the lock screen which produces some Chinese slideshow. Any idea how to disable and maybe add something useful to the swipe action?
3. I'm in light mode but still can't get whatsapp messages and the spotify player on the lock screen.
4. Using company portal, the only keyboard I can pick is Chinese Baidu. Company portal splits your phone in Work and Personal. Work is highly restricted and I can't figure out how to install a new keyboard.

5. Using the standard launcher; app icons for the company portal (Outlook/Teams etc) keep moving to the last page on my phone (I have 4 pages of icons). Any idea how to lock them in to place?
Thank you!
Regarding your points :
1. Usually it should be com.android.mms , which isn't on the list you're right, but just try it anyway. If not, try "ADBAppControl" for Windows and search it there. It's also simpler to re/debloat using this program anyways. Or you can try to download (or view) the app in the vivo appstore.
2. Search for the vivo app "interactions" (or long press on the homescreen and tap interactions) which has a icon of a black cube > Now, tap on the lower right corner and select "nothing".
3. Go to Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Device and App Notifications and be sure that Whatsapp and/or Spotify is allowed. You can also check on the homescreen, if you long press on the app, and tap on "App Info" > Notifications > and check "Allow Notifications" > Then check all (needed) "Alert Modes"
EDIT: > 4. Install a new Keyboard from the Playstore (lke Swiftkey or Gboard,..) Go to Settings > Apps & Permissions > Permission Management > Permission Tab > Scroll all the way down to "Default App Settings" > Input Method > Your downloaded keyboard. From there you could also replace other default apps.
> 5. There SHOULD be an extra setting in stock launcher settings.. if I remember correctly from my old X70 Pro+. But can't exactly remember, sorry.
Hope this helps somehow.
Thanks for the advice. Might be easier to just download via Vivo store. Can anyone tell me the name or show me the icon?
