Hi to all.
My brother has a Diamond that has a problem with the internal speaker.
When answering a call, he doesnt listen to the caller.
The only way to sisten is to push the hands free swich, and then ramdomly, the external speaker is activating (the hads free), but... sometimes, the normal speaker start working like it has to be in a normal call.
I could think about a malfunction, but then, why is the normal speaker working sometimes, when he push the hands free button in the dialer screen?
I made a hard reset and nothing changed. So I changed the rom, but with no results.
I will apreciate any help
i had this last week 2 days in a row at the same point of the day.
in my case it was a WM bug that when i remove my headset in standby it sometimes keeps thinking that its still in... maybe you got this same thing?
..not in my case
Same problem here for motnhs
Hi eddyther,
I have the same problem for months now, I really tried to fix it changing roms and radios but no success at all, asked it several times in the diamond forums but nobody seems to be able to give an answer. Each time when receiving a call i can only hear the other person when pushing on the speaker (hands free) mode button. Even when I call someone I do not hear the phone sound of ringing, the phone only vibrates when connecting a call and then i have to push on the speaker mode to be able to hear the other person, very unnhandy and of course very very uncomfortable as everyone hears you. I have to say that it worked only time and it was with Cloudyfa_6.5.02 beta rom, but only once beacsue after a reinsallation it stopped working again. I´m sdesperate because everything on the diamond works perfectly except for this huge problem. I just hope that if you hear something you let me know through this thread, and will do it also, so we are at least 2/ or 3.
In a spanish forum, a lot of people described the same problem and they fixed it with the radio 1.08.25.20
My brother will try it today. I will let you know about the results.
In the meantime if you want to try, here is the link:

It doesn't work !
Nothing, oh god what can be wrong looking everywhere for a solution, theres must be something out there .... we´ll keep in tocuh ok
ok, so let's continue searching...
Eddyther, got a reply on a question I had asked on this issue and they say it can be because of having installed ones an incompatible rom, they advice to go back and splash the original rom once again, I will have to search and download the original spl and rom of vodafone , will let you know tomorrow if anything changed ok, perhaps we can get a reslt out of this or anywhere soon, because iñ really desperate.
I will try changing the mic. I found it for about 4 euros, and I have de service manual, for dissasembling.
I will let you know about the results.
About the rom , I changed it twice. I don't think the problem is there
ok let me know if it works ok, in that case please let me know where you got the mic and the manual so i can give it a try myself too !
thanks mate !
Guys, any luck? I'm having the same problem, as you can see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496058
Yesssss!!!
Yesterday I got the speaker, dismanteled the Diamond, changed the speaker, rebuilded the Diamond....and no image on the screen!!!
Opened the Diamond again, pressed the 2 connectors that are connecting the 2 main boards...., close it again...
And the speaker (and also the screen) work like a charm.
In total, 3 hours (i went very carefully), 7 euros (around 9 $), and a lot of patience !!!
So this is what I did (no pictures, sorry..but follow the service manual, that has pictures!!!))
1) got the speaker here (spanish site, but look for yours):
http://www.ssmoviles.com/altavoz-delantero-para-htc-diamond.html
It is "almost" the same speaker (but instead of 2 contacts for + and - he has 2 with a "V" form, that look like 4 contacts: anyway it feets perfectly)
2) Got the service manual, that has a "step by step" to desmantle the Diamond (with pictures) here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jnh4f2ndyzz
(this is an alternative site, I don't remember were I find mine. If it is not ok, let me know and I will look for it)
3) normal small "star" screwdriver, plastic knife (like the ones used in the birthdays), for making pression on the main board, and small tongs
4) Followed the step by step dissassembling procedure of the manual (point 2.2)
5) Avoided the antenna cover dissassembling (no need for our purposes)
6) Arrived until page 25, disconecting the GPS coaxial cable, skiping the rest of the procedure.
7) continuig from page 26 (2nd step:"loose the power button cable...") until the 3d step (loose the volume button cable), and stoping there.
Now you can take a part the upper side, the one were the photo camera is. No need to take it out totally, only until you see (under it) the speaker, that is soft glue, and can easily be pulled out and replaced by the new one (no conections needed:it has only to be placed the same way, with the conectors facing the contacts), and assemblig everything back.
The only 2 special points to follow are:
a) being dissassemblig, and taking parts and screws out, put them in order on a paper and write their place on the board in order to avoid mistakes in the assemblig)
b) when you assemble the two parts of the board, that have 2 male and 2 female conectors, take care to gently but firmly press one board to the other in order to connect both of them (the first time I didn't press enought and the screen didn't work: I had to dissassemble the Diamond again).
At the beggining, it seems complicated, but beleave me, be calm, take your time, disconnect every connector with love, and it will be OK
c) last thing: don't look for the picture of the speaker in the service manual: it doesn't appear, but it is under the photo camera, belive me.
Good luck !!!!
Thanks, eddyther. I conclude, that is a hardware-problem since it works for you.
I think I will get my retailer to fix it instead trying to fix it myself.
You are right. I also thaught it was a soft/rom problem, but it is a harware one.
If you have guarranty, send it to repair.
It is not my case, so I decided to make a try...
brought back to SAT
Hi Eddyther, I changed mine back to original Vodafone Rom and I have send my Diamond back, hopefully they will repair it and will not see that I flashed many tims to other roms. Anyway if they won´t repair, i will give your method a try for sure !
Thanks
Good luck !!

Hi,
I have a very strange and worrying effect on my new X1. I tried several 6.1er Roms (TouchIT) and also 6.5ROMS (now at gtrab BB 3.61) - also had different types of RADIO 1.14, 1.16 (the latest) - but always the same effect. Before I had a HTC Touch but no similar behaviour.
After sending an SMS or ending a call the Radio strength bar goes to "!" and no connection for about 1-2seconds. not always but often it happens like this. Even if it would just be something in displaying a good connection in a wrong way, WHY.
Does anyone else have this too?????
Thanks for feedback
Norbert
Can't believe that noone ever experienced something similar.
And to say this clear its not like this has some influence to my usage of the phone, but it is strange to see signal go and come back after seconds after sending SMS and after finishing calls, not always but from time to time.
I have the same issue on my Touch PRO, but I cant resolve problem.......
I try several ROM-s but its the same.
Phone calls is still works but SMS, MMS,.... in that moment isn't.
hey, I have the same problem as well
and I have no idea how to reslove it neither ...... hi5, or not? =.=
Hi,
I've had this strange problem since 1month back on my X1. The radio turns off after almost every phone call and sometimes never turns on again.
I have to soft reset phone to turn it on again sometimes.
Anyone that knows a solution to this problem?
Im getting really mad over this stupid problem.
Do any one have a solution? please share then..
Thanks for all tips!
yea i actually have this problem too!
i am on generic rom r3a with vodafone
yep me too ... but to be honest I ve kind of made my peace with the signal problems of this phone ... when I m on my desk in my study, the phone moves from four bars to no signal depending on where I put it on the desk (funnily there is no position on my desk that always gives me full signal - its always a different one) .. if I move the phone from say the full signal position to my ear I lose signal completely ... it d be funny if it wasnt annoying ... but I dont think there is anything u can do (besides moving to an area where u constantly have good signal)
This problem is so sick. Sometimes I have to soft reset phone after disconnecting phone calls. Is this hardware related? Maybe service centre can fix or replace the phone ?
shange, this sounds like a real problem. In my case the signal loss is also annoying, but after 5 seconds everything works normal again, so I never had to reset my phone after any call or sms finished. BTW I do not have stock firmware flashed -> SEX1 BB by gtrab.
Have you tried to use a different SIM card?
we are all on different networks and experiencing the same problem so i think it must be the phone
SONY ERICSSON Please address this problem
Ok, first off I just want to say I have searched around the forums for a similar problem in hopes for a solution and to avoid reposting a question.
For information about my phone, see below the problem description.
Here is the problem:
This just started today, the phone will not play any ringtone or notification sound. I can confirm the speaker itself still works by playing music or choosing ringtones. Alarms do still work, just not call tones or notification tones(even using default ones).
Now that is only part of the problem, along with that, is the fact that when a text message is received, I can view it and dismiss it (Using Handcent as Default). But 30 seconds to a minute after getting the message, or usually while replying to it, the screen will go black and the capacitive buttons stay lit up. No button presses are registered and the only way to gain access into the phone is by removing the battery and putting it back in.
I am also not getting every message sent to me, some will come through while others don't.
Another unrelated issue:
If I wait an extended time between listening to music, usually 20+ hours, for the first minute or so I hear a little bit of static and then it clears up and doesn't happen until the next day.
Info about the phone:
I bought the phone new on eBay at the end of September, the 28th.
The only modification done to it is doing the latest VooDoo lagfix from the link below(I did this within two weeks of having the phone, and it worked fine):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784170
Aside from that, the phone is completely stock running the latest OTA update.
I am using a GoPhone SIM card that has never given me any issues before.
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 voodoo_lagfix_3.0_v1.10
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Build: ECLAIR.UCJH7
Baseband: I897UCJH7
My Background
This is only my second Android phone, coming from the myTouch 3g. I have had the same SIM card for years. Now I have the Captivate, and this is the first time it has given me this kind of problem. I have experience flashing ROM's and all that, I just wanted to wait for an official update for the Captivate to see if GPS gets improved.
I hope I have provided enough information to diagnose the problem, let me know if there is anything else you need to know and thanks for your time.
Side note if this can't be resolved with you guys:
Would I be able to call up Samsung and get a replacement from them?

Probably why it was sold on Ebay in the first place. Just a shot in the dark, maybe the speaker connection is loose? There are a few threads about taking the phone apart if you are so inclined.
Can't see how it would be a warranty, you bought it through a third party. Could always try.

I did think something like that at first, but every other sound works fine and when it is supposed to(startup sounds, games, etc.). And I would think if it's a loose connection that shaking the phone or moving it around would make sound cut out, but it doesn't.
I figured the manufacturer warranty wouldn't apply, but I have gotten warranty replacements in the past on other electronics from eBay. So maybe a little fibbing will be in order to receive another unit.
I'm thinking it is something software, I have no clue what, I haven't made any major software additions or changes since yesterday. But if all else fails I will try changing to a different ROM and if that fails, get a replacement from Samsung.
I would try flashing again.....and running that kernel....kinda makes your phone far from stock...
For some reason the issue has stopped. I only did a few things, I powered off the phone, turned it on with the 3-button combo, and then restarted the phone from that menu. After the restart, I reassigned the notification tones and ringtones to what they were(my personal choices, not system sounds) and it seems to work.
I will probably wait a few days to see if it occurs again, and if it does, I will move on to a ROM from the Dev section because I am convinced its just some apps conflicting with each other.

I figured that was a minor modification, so i just counted it as stock, but I see what you're saying.
I have a Samsung Captivate, its my first smartphone but its a GREAT phone! but i think the one i have is defective. Here is whats wrong:
It doesnt find my location AT ALL. I tried (think) everything out there:
the lbstestmode method,
the samsung gps fix app,
update for 2.1,
updated to 2.2,
and finally the method involving the back cover.
All with the same result.
The next thing is it randomly turns off after a full charge or on standby overnight.
The speaker is not strong.
This is not important but the text plus app doesnt connect through wi-fi.
Are these things fixable? If not should I return this one for a brand new one?
Thanks everyone!

Shutdown issue alone you should return the device and get a replacement one (or get another device if you desire). AT&T will replace your device free of charge.
Regarding the speaker, it's very strong for me. It might be the roms that you use.
I don't use text plus app but maybe try a different wifi connection?
Agreed. take it back. the poor GPS happens on some of the Phones but not all. the other problems are all not common and so it needs to be taken care of.

When you updated to 2.2 was it just JI6? Did you go to a Rom that has any overclock to it? There are fixes now for the GPS by running different Rom's. Each work with different results from phone to phone. I have had really good results with I9000 Rom's. The speaker is quite, not much to really do about it. I don't know what text plus is. Are there other alternatives to that app?
I bought a galaxy note n7000 from a friend. It has android 4.1.2 installed. build number is n7000XXLSA.
the problem is wi fi doest turn on.I mean whenever i want to switch it on it seems its trying to get on but fails. The green light never shines on it.
The problem i cant understand lies with hardware or software.
Sometimes the wifi gets connected and then it works like a charm. But most of the times no matter how hard i try it never gets turned on. Ive tried factory reset, restart, removing batter and memory card nothing seems to work. I tried wifi fixer app but nothing happened.
I am not very technically aware of rooting, and how to modify it. But i think from what ive learnt is it is caused by updating from ICS to jelly bean 4.1.2
I dont know whether my phone is locked or unlocked, rooted or un rooted cause im totally new with phone.
Please someone guide me how can i rectify this problem, I dont mind taking risk with my phone but wanna know what all should i do to solve wifi issues.
Plus i also would like to update to 4.2.2 kindly let me know step by step starting from basics how should i go about it.
regards
Go to settings and wi-fi and there when you turn on the wi-fi it should show the your network which is remembered and show read something as authenticating obtaining ip addreas and such.. Just select your netwirk once and click on forget and then try to connect again putting in your network key.. To check if you are rooted or not: you must have an app which saya superuser or su.. You can also download root checker app from market to see if you are rooted or not..

Solution found
sorry for the long post but this will work
After three months of dealing with the same problem on my GT N7000 as nashbloom i have found a fix to this wi fi problem.
And I mean WIFI problem. this is not a matter of obtaining a connection, this is a problem where the wifi wont switch on at all.
It trys, to switch on (sort of transition phase) than freezes or fails and turns off again.
Just as I was preparing to back up my phone and take it in to samsung the next day I found a post on a you tube clip saying to clean corrosion built up on wi fi antenna.
Desperate, I tried it,
1. remove 9 screws (dont worry they are all the same size) on back and remove cover
2. with a cotton tip/bud wipe corrosion in top left hand corner (looking at the back of the phone)
3. not knowing what a wifi antenna looks like and having seen no corrosion i wiped everything including the cover.
4. i removed a few connectors and put them back in place.
5. put everything back in place and problem was instantly fixed
I did this two days ago but have had one time where the same problem reoccured, otherwise, perfect.
P.S. This is proof that this is a hardware problem not a software one, but i kind of knew that when i changed every wifi setting on the phone several times
will try these today
I will try these today as soon i get home.. i been looking around for a fix.. I hope these will resolve it

Two months now with this silly wifi issue. Did this trick help with your phone?
I did everything possible trying to solve this problem but to no avail.
Wiped anything that could be wiped on the inside, replaced the USB port board, but wifi is relentlessly disconnecting at random times.
Any idea?

I found something weird.. when the phone is without the back cover wifi works perfect. when I put it back the wifi goes off. ???? I really do not know was wrong with the phone.. (i do not use it anymore).. the only guess is that the back cover pressure something to the board and disconnect the wifi.. I really do not have a explanation.. take care..

Like everyone here, I was having the problem with the greyed out WiFi and also got some practice with flashing firmwares and doing factory resets, backups and restores, all in vane.
I found this post and decided to give it a try, also checking a YouTube video about how to open the GT-N7000
My phone did not have any corrosion, but after reconnecting, i.e. taking out and plugging in again, all connectors to the main board, the WiFi came back to life. That was two days ago. I cannot say it works like a charm, after a couple of hiccups, I just don't trust this phone anymore and I think I had the greyed icon once yesterday when I tried to switch off and on the WiFi.
This experience led me to believe that there is something with the connectors that got loose after my phone has fallen off my pocket a couple of times. If you wear pants that were not designed to carry phablets, this might happen to you as well.
Anyway, a big THANK YOU to atchya for the idea of opening the phone.
Cheers,
[Possible solution]Follow the link how to clean up the connectors
Yeah above solution works. This Is the only way I got my wi-fi to work. Tried re-flashing Rom (downgraded and upgraded) even re-flashed Radio. Finally cleaned up , unconnected and reconnected cables, so far works fine (no greying out of menus etc.) . Will keep you posed
edit: Open the photos in different tabs to see the antenna connectors, they are tagged you will know exactly what to clean
