WPPT or WPV XAP Deployer doesnt show at all - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i've got a Windows 8.1 machine with VS2013 Express installed, i've tried to install WPPT but when i'm installing it, it shows a error about "Microsoft.smartdevice.connectivity version 11.0.0.0" is missing from my system, so i've tried WPV XAP Deployer but that didn't run at all... Does anyone found any solution? (Google didnt helped too much ) Thanks in advance.

Try re-installing it then, re-downloading it if needed. That library is part of the SDK, unless your installer was corrupted or the install failed you should have that file.

.NET compact framework

I recently updated my X1's firmware with the Sony Ericson Update Service. Since then I've been reinstalling everything. Only problem is, that for some reason I can no longer install Microsoft's .NET compact framework, which is required for some programs to run. Is anybody else having this problem, or know what to do about it?

I had the exactly the same problem after installing the RA3 rom update.
It always said that the .net framework cf installation unsuccessful when I tried to install using the .exe file downloaded from microsoft.
Alternatively, you can install the CAB file from your computer.
If you use windows, look in the folder:
program files>microsoft.net>SDK>compactframework>v3.5>windowsCE for the CAB file. I used this one, NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, and it works. Now I can use a software that needs .net 3.5.
ps: if I'm not mistaken the .net CF 3.7 is a leaked version. Therefore, I prefer installing 3.5 to 3.7.

Thank you, that seems to be working.
.Net CF 4.0 is actually available with the MS Visual Studio 10.0 beta, but beware: the damned program erased all my contacts and calendar when I autosynced (and I had no backup because I hadn't autosynced in months AAARRRG!)
I have some problem to use v3.5, hence now try to get v3.7.
Thanks...

You need to install development tools. Dont click other installs in the installation.

Is that all for Developers ?
What the purpose of all those softwares ?

[Q] apk files

Hello
I have got my new RAZR i and I like it very much. But one thing is a little bit frustrating. I've got some apk files which I would like to install, but they don't because of the Intel processor , I think . So my question is, is it possible to transform those files to some, which will be installable on this phone.
Thanks
Do you get any error message? Normaly they should install fine, as long as the apk is compatible with Android 4.0 x86 (which are most existing).
How do you try to install it?
Have you enabled the option to install apk's from foreign sources?
EDIT: Found the problem. You can't download the apk-files to your phone directly from the net. Instead I sent it via USB from my computer to the phone an it works. Thanks anyway!
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it is the following:
There is a problem parsing the package.
(I only translated it from the original german: "Fehler beim Parsen des Paketes")

I tried to open it, that didn't work. Then I downloaded the app "AppInstaller" and tried it with that, and there came the above mentioned error message.
Thanks

Wich apps are you tryng to install? Are they in their last versions?
What apk's? Are this usual Apps or maybe an modified like an themed Keyboard or an inverted Play Store?
If it's an modified apk you usual have to put them into the System/App Folder by using an Root Explorer and set the permissions right.

Hey thank you for your answers.
I edited by previous message, because I found the problem.
I had to transfer the app via USB cable.
Thanks anyway!
If you download an apk to your Phone and get an. zip, just rename the File to. apk.

[Q] tool to remotely install apps from PC (like googleplay)

Hi there, when i browse play.google.com and i find an app i want to install i can just click it and it will install itself on my tablet.
A nice feature and i wonder if there exists any tool or maybe a site that does the same for .apk's i have already on my PC?
Try "MoboRobo", software that installs on a windows PC...let you load anything via the PC.
Videos, music, apps, etc...
Enjoy.

If you are command line savvy then a simple way may be to use 'adb push' to copy the apk directly to /data/app or wherever.
Or for multiple apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835732
And also a really simple methid is to have adb and the app in ths dame directory and run adb install app.apk

Re: Whatsapp working on the hp touchpad
Well, thank you for the reactions, but this is not what I meant.
I was talking about installing from a PC without wires.
At the moment I mostly use dropbox or box.net to upload the apk's to, then installing with ES file explorer.
I used to use Samba filesharing too.
But Googleplay manages to let me click on install and instantly installs it on my Android device, I don't think that your options work that way, right?

If someone can shed some light on this issue............
An app coming from the store?
You mean a downloaded one from the store?

What are you trying to sideload to your phone out of curiosity?
The appx file is a camera app
But i have also minecraft.
They both give the same issues
