Seidio Ledger Case - One (M8) Accessories

I picked up a Seidio Ledger Case. Nice build quality. Very easy to get the phone in but a little difficult to get it out. DO NOT grab it by the flip cover while trying to remove it. Tore it just the tiniest bit. Completely my fault though, I was tugging pretty hard. Overall I'm pretty happy with it but it doesn't activate the sleep/wake function on my M8. Is it not supposed to or is there a setting I need to change on the phone to activate that feature?

No setting, probably doesn't have a magnet on the flip cover? Should be one that hits the middle left side of the phone to trigger the on/off when opening/closing. Try it with a magnet and you'll see what I mean.

It's got a magnet on the right side to keep the flip closed. Ran a magnet all along the left side and got nothing. Wonder if it's a rom thing though. I'm running viper rom. Does this phone have the screen on/off magnet feature normally? Never tried it before flashing away from stock.

I have viper and was just able to do it. Even thinks I have the dot view case on if I leave the magnet on and hit the power button. Don't have a way to show you unfortunately

Where exactly are you putting the magnet?

http://youtu.be/vFYqEiIH-dw Used my pc's webcam. Upside down but you get the idea. Left side about 1/4 way in, half way up the phone.
If it doesn't work for you maybe you need to have the dot view app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.dotmatrix

THANKS!. I was putting it right on the edge.
Here is what it did. Used double sided tape and this REALLY thin small round magnet I picked up in a pack at an office supply store. Put the magnet on the screen with the double sided tape on it. Stuck a business card into the car holder slot of the flip and put a piece of tap across the very top of the card to mark exactly where it sits when in the slot. remove the card from the slot and tapped it to the flip. closed the case so that the magnet now stuck to the card. Removed the card, put a piece of tape over the magnet to secure it better to the card and then slid the card back into the card slot. PERFECTION!!
Edit: It will activate DOT VIEW if you flip the case completely over.

Glad I could help

Be careful using any credit cards with a magnet so close to them. Sort of defeats a large purpose of the Ledger case doesn't it/

Actually got it because I wanted a flip case and liked how it looked. Figured I could stash an emergency $20 bill in there and a state ID, but I probably wouldn't ever put a credit card in there

My magnet that holds the pen fell out - luckily i didn't lost it. However, i cannot find the place where it should fit in. Does anyone have a picture or can tell me where that thing normally sits?
Thanks!

A small piece of metal fell out which is magnetic. The stylus doesnt hold alone any more....
Any idea where that thing sits ?

I made my own self-contained kickstand for Leo. Here is how...

I decided to make my own kickstand for my HD2 and am pleased with the result. The benefit of how I did it is you don't need to carry any seperate accessory as the stand is built into the case so you will always have it with you as long as you have your phone. Nothing else to lose.
To make one you will need a stiff snug fitting case, cutting knife, pen and cutting board. These cases are inexpensive so if you make a mistake its not the end of the world.
Just cut 3 slots into the case. Make sure you draw straight lines inside the case and that the flap is centered. Don't make the flap too narrow as you want some strength. You can make it as wide as you like. You may want to make a template (on card) of the rectangle flap first and then draw around it inside the case. Make sure the flap is not too long or too short. The bottom of the flap should be reasonably close to the edge of the case too.
To open the flap, just flex the plastic by firmly pulling it with your thumb towards the center, or use your fingernail to catch the edge. To close it just click it it back to its original position and it stays in nice and flush. It will not accidently pop open. The flap is virtually invisible when closed.
It works brilliantly. I am well chuffed!
LoL very nice never thought about that... I have the same case, and it kinda might be useful ! nice tip cheers
Wouldn't the flap start to wear after a while and the opening degrade over time?
I don't think it would wear over time. I did not score or crease the hinge so it will never snap off. It is just flexed. The case is a flexible material. Nothing to degrade.
I mean like clipping of the rubbery material and the flap starts to stay open. Over time.
It shouldn't stay open as the way it's been cut and because of the thickness it CLICKS into place. Wedged in. It's a little tricky to open so I can't see it springing open by itself. Time will tell but think it should be fine.

I think the concern is that with any press-fit or clip-fit flap, the friction will wear out the material slowly and with time become lose.
Even the HD2 OEM battery door, if opened/closed enough time, will become closed
The question becomes, then, whether the flap will outlast the device
The other idea to make the flap last longer is the ANGLE the cut so that instead of cutting perpendicular to the surface of the case, you cut slanting away from the way the flap open. This way you create a little lip for the flap to lock into.

I thought of that and it was going to be my second attempt if this first attempt did not work out but I was surprised to find it click into place even with a non angled cut.
I also thought about adding a small bit of tape to the inside lip of the flap so you could pull it open, but dismissed it for looking unsightly.
Also thought about a magnetic closure. So far so good as is. As I say time will tell but I have been opening and closing it a lot so far and still no problems.
is that an ebay case? link to seller
ya if i do this i'm definitely going to angle cut it.
methodz this is the one I bought. Super cheap:
http://www.netimes.com/shop/resin-soft-jelly-case-for-htc-hd2-t8585-htc-leo-p-2455.html?cPath=80_731
I gotta say, I've seen a lot of DYI stuff on here (charging dock through a box, lanyard through battery cover, piggyback extended battery, etc), but this is one of the most ingenious thing I've seen. Kudos to you!!
..and for those who are questioning the durability of this, don't get the ultra thin gel case. Get one with a good amount of thickness so it doesn't flex too easily. Don't worry if it doesn't fit snuggly back on the case when you done...because it will if you get a good gel case. (I've done cutting to a few of my cases on other phones..no case for HD2 yet)
Very nice indeed!
I'm going do the same with mine.
Nice one mate. I too have the same type of case and would never have thought of this! I can see why people are talking about it losing its strength over time, and I too imagine that it would eventually lose the will to actually stand the device up, or click back into place - one or the other - but I would only use this "feature" maybe once or twice a week, so it would take a long time to have any detrimental effect on the case. But let's face it.... it's dirt cheap and replaceable!
Very clever idea mate - thanks a lot
I think it would be great if some case manufacturer took this idea up and made a professional version. I should get royalties of course.
I have noticed after prolongued time in the open stand up position, it does slightly spring open after closing it - however storing it on its back for a short time DOES make it stay flush again so no big issue.
I may try an angled cut next time. Think I will order a couple more cases and experiment on the most optimal design.
Wouldn't it be funny if you cut it the opposite way the accelerometer turns? Ha.
This is an AWESOME idea. $4.00 for a case? Fix def worth the "degraded" possibility.
Yes make sure you cut the flap in the right direction to your landscape view. Very important!
Sure you've seen this anyway but pocketnow.com wrote this up, kudos:

[Q] Whats your ideal case for the NC?

What is the ideal case for your Nook Color?
Is it one that is available or not?
What are some of the features you would like it to have?
Do you want a fold case that covers the screen?
Is the micro usb port in a convenient location?
Looking for some ideas. Working on a shell now for a mold. Not sure if anything will come of it but want to see what you all are looking for in a case. Feel free to post your thoughts. Thanks.
I would like to see a one sided hard cover that can protect the screen when not in use and snap onto the rear when in use. Probably use the typical four corner frame system you see in many cases so nothing is obstructed.
Also, have a stand "system" so that when it is snapped to the rear you can prop up the NC. Maybe something like what you see on back side of keyboards. And like some keyboards I've seen, have different levels of lift. One lift level that slightly raises the NC off the surface, for typing and such. Another lift level that is like the leg stand you see on the EVO 4G or Archos 70, for video/picture viewing and the like.
Heh. First post around here. Been meaning to chime in on a thread and this is the perfect one to start. Only because I've been looking for something I described but there is nothing out there yet.
I'm looking for an inexpensive silicone gel skin, something I'd keep on pretty much all the time. I'm also keeping my eyes open for sturdy travel case.
There seem to be choices out there for both, I'm just waiting a bit for more of them to hit ebay.
I missed your last question about the micro usb port. IMO its not in a good location because its awkward when trying to read while charging, particularly when reclining or lying down. I'm concerned about putting pressure on the usb cable, especially considering its not just a standard cheap cable. Not sure how a case will help this, though.

ill be trying out a few designs once the mold sets. i can add a ribbon cable in the case to move the USB port to the sides which I might try. trying to keep it thin but actually worth putting on.

Are you designing desktop/multimedia cases as well? I would love additional speakers on the NC and also a magnetic swivel X mount stand for desktop use.
My ideal case is not available yet. It is an envelope-like case that will allow me to pull the Nook out and use it naked. Something in nice black leather.
Something similiar to the covers of the TI calculators, with a little more thought about aesthetics obviously.
A 90deg connector or adapter would be nice. Then run the cable through the corner loop thingie.

Good Idea, I may try that out.
Im not any sort of professional or anything, but I do have access to some pretty sweet resin's and molding equipment. Carbon fiber is the idea, but the glass mold and how I want to do the front part comes first. Ill keep the thread updated.
ideal nook case
looking for something very close to this case
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040VNRTG/ref=oss_product
just substituting the swivel belt clip for a kickstand
i like the idea of moving the usb jack to another spot but i think that would add alot of cost and effort to the case build
Rube Goldberg lives; or, is this even possible?
You asked for the ideal, here is mine. Not at all sure it is doable....
1. In the interest of keeping the total package as slim as possible, no back, unless it is necessary to support other features.
2. [Front] cover has a slot for a pad of paper and/or corner slots for index cards.
3. [Front] cover is hinged on the right (I'm right handed and I want to be able to write easily).
4. [Front] cover has a foldover flap to keep the paper or cards from contacting the screen when the cover is closed.
5. The cover can fold 180 degrees so that the cover lies flat against the back of the tablet.
6. The cover can support the Nook as an easel in landscape mode.
7. The cover can support the Nook as an easel in portrait mode - this might involve some sort of short extension legs or other support to raise the lower edge of the Nook an inch or so (and this might help with the need to plug in the USB connector at the bottom).
8. Bonus points for the ability to fold out a handle attached at the lower left corner when in portrait mode, sort of like a hand mirror.
9. And of course it should be strong, light, durable, elegant, and less than $40 US.
I'm ready to order as soon as I see the pictures of the finished product.
Thanks for the ideas everyone. Haven't worked on it in a few due to being out at CES. Unfortunately there were NO cases out there. Working with Speck to find something but tried everything else and could not even find a nice slip cover. Otterbox said they are testing designs so no real info there either.
My ideal case is something like
http://shop.brando.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-case-with-bluetooth-keyboard_p05269c0299d057.html
this.
Bluetooth keyboard case, waiting for bluetooth to work for NOOK!! and I could use it as a netbook and a tablet. IDEAL.
This is my cheap (free) case for my nook color. It’s the zippered case for my trucks instruction manual. The patch covers the ford symbol; if I need to hide it in plain sight I can pull the patch off and leave it in the back seat. It fits perfectly and there is a plastic divider on the inside I can put business cards and a small pad of paper (as others have asked). All I keep in it is a set of skullcandy headphones in an microfiber Oakley sunglass bag for cleaning the screen.

-"I learned a very valuable lesson on my travels, Tucker. No matter how bad things might seem..."

-"Nope, no matter how bad they seem, they can't be any better, and they can't be any worse, because that's the way things fraking are, and you better get used to it Nancy. Quit yer *****ing."
Perfect case for the Nook Color
Before I bought my Nook, I had a Pandigital Novel that I bought on eBay.
In the same eBay search results page the Novel appeared on was a great case called BookArmor. Although it was $35, I bought it. And I haven't regretted it either.
The BookArmor case comes with a set of velcro-like pads that stick on the back of the tablet and allow it to be fixed to the case. The case itself is laminated steel and plastic covered with textured fabric. It zippers shut and the zipper sides are soft and stay out of the way when the case is opened. You have total access to all side buttons and ports. The inside surface that comes in contact with the screen is covered with a soft foam pad.
When I decided to get the Nook, I found out that the case I had for the Novel is the exact same case for the Nook Color. I really like this case and haven't even considered another one.
For more info go to extremeinkjet.com and click on BookArmor cases in the blue left-hand column. Pick any Delta 6 case ... there is a Nook Color one. Checkout their video at the bottom of the page.
It looks like this case is really popular too ... there aren't any left on eBay and the extremeinkjet site shows all out of stock for the Delta 6 case. Amazon shows one Delta 6 left for the Pandigital (same case) but it doesn't even show up for Nook Color.
I don't know if I'd call it perfect. But, I bought the B&N case with the vertical flap and ribbon with magnet on the end to hold it closed/open. It works well for me.
If they were available in store when I bought my nook, I would have also considered the silicone one. Although, if I went that route, I'd probably prefer the otter box version with the hard resin exterior an rubber liner. I would also have considered the black leather pouch one where you completely remove the nook to use it.
Alas, none of these were available to me when I made my purchase so I'm using what I have.
With either the otter box or the silicone I would gain a thinner form factor. But, I would never be able to completely cover the screen. With the pouch one, I would gain the thin form factor when using and would not add much when transporting. But, it's basically just a branded leather sleeve.
In the end, what drew me to the case that I bought was the vertical flap and ribboned magnet. 1 - with the horizontal flapped ones, the magnet does not flip around to hold the flap to the back of the case so it's open like a book with the flap dangling out the right side. 2 - with the vertical one that I got, you flip the cover over the top, move the magnet to the back to hold the cover in place and you have all your nooky goodness to go to town with!
Just my 2 cents.

Wow...love love love this idea.
This would be great..a hard protective slide case.
This would definitely be a $$$ maker.
I bought a "Industriell Cover in Storm" cover and it works perfectly, very simple, protects the screen, and it's small.
I'm stealing your "DON'T PANIC" sticker on the back idea. thanks for reminding me.

Turning off Dot Case Option

So I am awaiting the official HTC Car Kit.
But for now I purchased a cheap $10 case an iMagnet Car Kit, So I slipped a piece of metal between the case and the phone to make it magnetize and half the time when I put it on the iMagnet it thinks I have the dot case on it and gives me the big pixel clock and weather.
I have played around with moving the piece of metal inside to a better area and still really hard to make it work without the dot case option kicking in.
Anyone know how to turn that off?

Well after renaming it there is progress it still shuts the phone down but when I turn it back on it is back to normal, I no longer have the dot matrix.
Now if only it did not turn the phone off. That might be in the build.prop I will need to take a prob to it.

[Q] Nexus6 Wallet

Hello,
When I buy a Wallet Case for my Nexus6, do I have to consider buying a wallet with an opening on the Wireless Charging point (The M Symbol) ? Like this one.
Will the Wireless Charging work if there is no opening ?
This one doesn't have that opening.
Please suggest.
Thanks.
The center of the coil is about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom, so in a way it is exactly opposite the dimple.
I use a Ringke SLIM which is solid on the back and have no issues with Qi charging, other than the need to skew the phone bit high on the charger to center up the coils.
If it'll charge through a Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx (and it does...), then you have nothing to worry about.
Hurry up and HIDE the ugly M logo.
Hello,
I need a Nexus6 Wallet with cut-offs for camera, power & volume buttons, 2 speakers, charger & audio ports, Moto Logo (not necessary). Do you know any Wallets that meets these requirements ? For most wallets, the cut-off for power & volume buttons won't be there. There will be buttons instead.
What about the Magnet Flap like this ?
Will it be dangerous for the data ?
Thanks.

It shouldn't be able to harm your data in any way. The storage isn't magnetic these days. It might harm any credit cards you put in it though if you put them in the wrong way. Spigen even includes a note about that telling you which way the magnetic strip should go.
Looks like a good wallet case to be honest. The first one I've seen with a magnetic closure as well as cutouts for both speakers. Kind of want one myself now.

Good to hear that it helped you. I'm also looking for a similar one, but with cutout for the Power and Volume buttons in additional. I'm not going to store my cards in the phone wallet anyway.
Hello,
I have a question regarding this kind of Wallet. I am very doubtful, whether the Power & Volume Buttons on the case will damage the actual Power & Volume Buttons on the phone. I feel that it would be safer if I could press those buttons on the phone with my finger, as the buttons on the Wallet Case may be in a wrong position. What is your opinion about this ? Anyone having such problems ?
Thanks.

I've been using this case for 2 months now, and I'm not entirely happy with it.
The protection is excellent, also the buttons are perfectly aligned so no risk there. It's just easy to press the wrong one.
The main problem is that this case is really, REALLY bulky and heavy (keep in mind that I'm not new to phablets, I've been using them exclusively for 3 years now), because of the flat back. Also, the leather is wearing out quite a lot at the corners.

Yes , I remember it is curvy at the back side. But too much expensive in my place (India). It is around 3 times the price of that Spigen Wallet S. It might be good quality, but I can buy a phone for that price Also another disadvantage with Stilgut is that it doesn't cover (protection) the top and bottom at all. No magnetic closure etc.

I don't have a wireless charger, so no, I haven't tried.
veesix,
This one has a curvy back, with cutouts for all ports. But the top and bottom side of the phone are still open. Actually, there is no perfect wallet or case

No, there's no such thing as a perfect case
I wouldn't mind if the top and bottom of the phone are less protected. Most important thing is the screen, and I don't want to use a screen protector.
