[Q] MMS over Wifi - Moto X Q&A

I've been having some problems using Hangouts to send mms over wifi. I can receive mms fine when connected to wifi. However when i want to reply back to the group it just sits in the sending phase when connected to wifi. Once I turn off wifi it send with no problem. I've done some research and every link i've seen it says to change the APN for Verizon. I've checked mine out and compare it to what i've seen online. Mine is set to use MCC of 311 and MNC of 480 with no port specified. Everything i've seen online it says to use port 80, MCC of 310 and MNC of 012. The only place I can find to edit it is within Hangouts it self. But when I edit (or create a new one) and I save it, it disappears from the list. In the regular settings under mobile network settings i see all the APNs, but I can't edit then, except for the name Anyone else having these problems, or know how I can edit and save one so i can send mms while still on wifi?

Getting kicked off BlackBerry Connect

Ok, so i searched the threads and haven't been able to find a solid answer for this. I installed BlackBerry Connect and it's running great, except for the fact that every time i try to use a program that utilizes data (web browsers, chat programs, etc.), I get booted off the BlackBerry EDGE data and it starts connecting to T-Mobile GPRS, hence killing my BB mail connection. Anyone have this same issue? How have you resolved it? Thanks in advance for the
help!!
- As you can tell, i'm using t-mobile with the bb add on plan....
Ok, so i'm trying to still figure this problem out, hopefully im on the right track. Looking thru the BBConnect settings i noticed that the BB Connect software is set up to run thru a different APN and username and password than normal BB devices. Normally, you would have a carrier specific log-in as the APN, username and password. On BB Connect, it's locked in to:
APN: blackberry.net
username: rim
password: password
You can see this by selecting the BB icon-> options-> details...
If you're familiar with using a BB device on TMO, you already know your settings would have been:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
username : (your phone number)
password: (your account password)
Does anyone know how to change this? I'm sure that if this can be changed, then we can use the BB data instead of switiching to the GPRS data everytime we open a data app. Any feedback? I havent seen a solution to this as of yet
well my kaiser is set to have both conections Blackberry and WAP.CINGULARGPRS on all the time and thats the only way they will bothi work at the same time. use kaiser tweak to set them both always on.

There is no way to change this. BBConnect will reconnect after the other app using the other APN let's go. Although, on rare occasions, it doesn't reconnect and you have to Suspend and un-Suspend BBConnect manually to get it back again.

this is incorrect like I just said above! first set up your kaiser to use your t-mobile network :reboot: then go to the connection settings and advanced>select networks>make sure both of these are set to your t-mobile.
then install BB-connect
reboot let it do its thing and set everything up.
then use kaiser tweak to set both connections to always on and reboot
no click the data icon on the top of the screen and make sure both networks are connected. the kaiser has the nuts to use to different networks at the same time even 3 if youhave wifi on. this might be an issue of t-mobile only being a edge network at this point but I can assure you it works just fine on 3G with at-t
OK, so i tried setting it up using both the T-Mobile data and bberry data at the same time. I used Kaiser Tweak, but it still won't let me have both the T-mobile data and bberry data connected at the same time. I did notice that i was able to get wifi and bberry data at the same time though. I wonder what's wrong with this
Is there perhaps a way to tweak this in the registry? I tried using kaiser tweak to keep both the bberry and tmobile data going at the same time but regardless, it kicks one or the other off
Perhaps this could be something included in the next version of KaiserTweak?
@Austinsync....
On a lot of the Stock ROM's the operator (AT&T/T-Mob) restrict this function of having multiple data/server connections.
@ usmcnyc
Thanks for your service! Now a bit of advice. Switch ROM's, after installing Hardspl of course. Many of the "Cooked roms" will allow this feature to be used. It costs the provider more to have multiple data lines going so they limit it to one. I recomend using Sleuth V3.0. I can surf the web, while using internet sharing, & still get my Blackberry Messages! If I'm in 3G or H territory, add using the phone to that list.

Please advice me about MMS not working sometimes!

Somebody can help me understanding why when I send a MMS the connection does not start authomatically?
I'm using the provider TIM in Italy and my configuration is correct as MMS's start and arrive. But often it happens that sending a MMS it remains in the outbox and nothing happens...
At that point, if I connect the "TIM MMS" access point manually (keeping the click on it and selecting "connect" from the menu) and then try again sending the mms... it finally starts!
I guess sometimes the same issue comes receiving an MMS when my Tytn probably does not connect to the server and so the Telco operator cannot deliver the MMS and just send a SMS telling to view the MMS on their web site!
When it is correctly connected... with the same configuration, the MMS is correctly delivered!
In other words, sometimes it does not connect authomatically to the Access Point defined as the pre-defined access point for sending mms.
Why? Could you please advice me?
The configuration is exactly the one adviced by the Telco operator TIM and sometimes it works, sometimes I have to follow this manual sequence that I discovered trial after trial!

email issues on my diamond

just wondering if anyone suffered same or better still working with same setup

could i have sent via wireless link to my ISP - if so why wont that even work now?
I have experienced something similar. I am also with T-Mobile.
I tried everything with no luck. In the end, I had to delete the email account and recreate it. All is well since then.
seriously... it cant be that simple..
hmm just tried - was charging phone via usb at the time and it worked...
via hspda it wont work..
disabled hspda connection, and reconnected via usb and it sends again via active sync i guess

I have been trying to solve this issue again - it re-appeared for me
So, I think you can change the port by adding : and portnumber on the end of the server name eg: smtp.server.com:80
I have tried this with my SMTP server but with no joy.
Can any experts help!?
I think I have to blame T-Mobile for this problem. Is anyone else with T-Mobile? Is your email working? What are your connection settings and email settings?
Thanks...
Well, I have been playing some more with this... I have re-setup my mail again and all is once more well! I have no idea what is going on, but I will see what happens now...
i deleted and re-added the email again today - still no send, but can recieve..
calld t-mobile who advised talktalk is a 'supported' email
they resent the settings, again recieve no send
the guy wanted to talk me through settings but i had to go.. thing is it cant be the account settings as it works perfectly via active synch - i did forget that whilst on phone to them..
i'm going to call again and point that out - it has to be tmobile..
@the jones are you also with talktalk for email? not that i think they are an issue as my web hosts smtp server also wont send..
I am not with talktalk. I am with fastmail. I discovered that I couldn't send over WiFi either but since setting everything up again all is well - so far!
ok on phone to tmobile now - the lovely hannah rechecked internet settings
proved can send via active sync so email settings correct
internet works and can recieve email
resent settings numerous times
also cant send via wifi
got transfered to a nice scottish lady who talked me through settings and changed the smtp address to smtp.t-email.co.uk and now it works - obvioulsy with this do NOT tick out going server requires authentication
anyone else on tmobile this should resolve any email sending issues - some isp wont allow you send when logged on via another isp connection - allegedly this is what was causing my problem..
its working for now anyway

Great! Any chance you can post up all the generic settings, connection settings etc. I have tried that as the smpt server in the past, but it didnt help. Wonder if I have some other problem...
Thanks
sure...
erm.. actually we created a new gprs connection too
start -> settings -> connections tab -> connections -> advanced tab
click a button called select networks.
then click new
start creating a new one - we called it 'email gprs'
then we had to name it again 'email gprs'
select a modem - 'cellular line (GPRS, 3G)'
access point name - general.t-mobile.uk
username: user
password: one2one
leave domain blank
click finish
go back into the advance tab and check that programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:
email gprs
then go and define your email settings
so for talktalk
pop3 address mail.talktalk.net
username will be your talktalk email address @talktalk.net
password = your usual talktalk mailbox password
smtp address use smtp.t-email.co.uk
untick outgoing server requires authentication
and that is all we did about an hour with hannah, 5 mins with the second person and its sorted - for now
@thejones i see you are on a 93 rom - mine is only a 37 fresh out the box from tmobile 2 weeks ago, how did you get yours on such a recent rom- did you flash it yourself? and is there any benefit in changing now i just got my email working
I flashed it myself. I downloaded it from the HTC website. I think its a much better ROM. Faster than .37 even with all the tweaks.
I am with T-Mobile but I have a standard Diamond rather than a Compact IV. My wife bought it for me

Einstein Wireless Internet/MMS settings

Hi Everyone...
I have posted a few times that I use my tilt with Einstein Wireless... They are a smaller GSM provider that had outstanding rates, but a limited area you can live to use their services... I have received private messages from a few mmbers who also use Einstein and can never get extra features besides basic phonecalls working on their network,,, Here are some settings to set up so you can use Picture & video messages in addition to TXT messages... and internet in general...
Internet:
Under settings, coto Connections...
Name for connection : EinsteinPCS Internet
access poin name : apn (case sensitive)
Usename : (leave blank)
password: (leave blank)
domain : (leave blank)
...under advanced
User Servier assigned IP address
click ok..
under proxy settings check: this network connects to the internet
check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
proxy server should be :192.168.254.251
click advanced
http: 192.168.254.251:8080
wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
secure wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
socks (blank)
For MMS... go into MMS Options... goto servers.. set these settings :
Server Name : Einstein Wireless MMS
Gateway : 192.168.254.251
Port # : 9201
Server Address : httP//www.einsteinmms.com\+1(your 10 digit # here)
Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
I have also found that it works better if you delete the AT&T or other settings so it doesn;t default back to them on a soft reset.... Feel free to MSG me if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them, but keep in mind I dont; work there and onyl got these from playign around and seeign settigns on some of their other phones I had... They don't have any smartphones for sale...
Other information may be found at :

Just found out about Einstein Wireless
And have an unlocked blackberry that doesnt want to get signal with Einstein Wireless wondered if this might be an issue with the Blackberry or if Einstein Wireless runs off a slightly different signal versus my standard and if I might need to change some setting in the phone itself. Just a note this unit works with a T-mobile chip fine. So any suggestions?
Is your Blackberry a tri/quad-band phone? You need atleast a triband as Einstein uses either 850 or 1900 in most of their areas... if your phone doesn;t use both of these then you wil lreceive areas where you get no service

can't get data and mms connections working at same time

this could be a wm6 problem rather than an x1 problem, but I figured I'd start here. I have an x1a, using it with Tmobile. I have the full data plan, and I can't seem to get the internet and MMS working all at the same time. If internet works then mms tells me i need to "switch connections" to receive an mms" and so I tell it to do it, but then I can't send email or mms, unless I reboot, maybe. I'm thinking its something simple, like maybe I need to specify which connection mms should use, and which connection internet should use, and etc....I'm not sure if they should all be set to the same or different, and if so, which one(s).
Can someone using an x1 and Tmobile tell me what connection settings they use?
does MMS use the "tmobile internet" "Tmobile data" "Tmobile mms"?
does internet use "tmobile internet" or Tmobile data"?
Thanks,
Ian
I don't think it's possible for data and mms to be used at the same time.
Also i'm on an x1i on t-mobile
T-mobile MMS
Wap.voicestream.com
on the proxy settings tab, don't check this network connects to the internet
T-mobile Data
internet2.voicestream.com
on the proxy settings tab, check this network connects to the internet
Thank you very much! That was exactly what I needed, but didn't get from Tmobile "third tier" but didn't get in 1 hr and 15 minutes.
all better!
you are able to use data settings for mms so you dont need to switch networks everytime you send a mms.
mayhaps i spoke too soon. I'm still not able to send mms, and I am still prompted from time to time to allow the phone to switch connections in order to send/receive mms. the one thing that is improved now at least is that i can download mms.
any suggestions on what to do to fix any of the above problems?
i'm sorry, but i don't think it's possible to use t-mobile data for both data and mms at the same time. I got these settings directly from tier 3 tech support.
Try taking a picture, then sending it to yourself. It should say that it will change connections then it should connect to T-mobile MMS. Once that's done, it should send the MMS(takes approx 15 seconds to send). You should receive it shortly after
