Just check the current it outputs. If it gives you at least 500 mA (same as a USB 2.0 port), it will charge your phone. If it gives only 100 mA, it will only charge the phone when it's off.

It is 500 mA and the Z1 original charger is 1500 mA.
Does this means that it will charge a lot slower?

Yep, less ma will charge it slowly.
I have 2100ma chargers for everything now Quick charging I like

[Q] Xperia Z charger amperage

Can anyone with this device check the charger details (printed on the side of it)? Is it 1500 mah?
And another question, will it be ok to use a third party charger and which amperage should I use if I can't find 1500? 1000 or 2000?
yes, 1500 mAh says mine.
and yes, I think, you can use nearly any charger. on my recent phones (some htc, some motorola), I always used several different chargers in a range 500 <->2500 mAh.
currently my XZ is supplied by an 700s unit...
Yes 1500mA
But i don't recommend using other chargers cause with some of them you will have screen not responding to touch.

Time to charge the phone

Hi,
how long do your XZs need to charged? I got a 3m usb cable to charge my phone using the docking station and have the feeling it was taking longer than before. Currently it charged 50% in 1h 40min.
I hope it isn't bad for battery health

How are you charging the phone? Via USB 2.0 on a computer OR using the supplied Sony charger that came with the phone?
Also, what dock is it?
Sony DK26 dock, Sony charger

If you are charging it via PC via usb 2.0 (black) it will only charge at 500mA which is really slow. If you try a USB 3.0 (blue) slot it charges at 900mA which is faster. If you use the charger that came with the phone it will charge way faster since it's 1.5A (1500mA)
As I already said in my previous post, I'm using the original Sony Charger.
It charged so slow that it must have been about 700mA per hour. I think I'll search for another micro usb cable, that allows me to charge faster

Slow charging is better charging! I use a charger from an older smartphone.. 875mA..
Takes about an hour to get 20-70, another hour for the remaining 30%. But I keep it at 20-80 at most times because most guides told me so .
Over night i plug it to pc. and it actually had 0 to 78 on 5 hours so its pretty slow

Sorry misread that lol. I don't know why the USB cord sony supplied can't be longer? My SGS3 cable was way longer and i liked that. I wonder if a usb extension would be a better choice since the original cable is really good quality....

The problem is your cable,3m is very long to keep the mA power.

Interesting, I have a 1.5m USB cable (not the sony) and using the OEM sony charger it will just barely charge my Z. So maybe my issue is the cable length.. I'll try it with the sony USB cable tonight to see if this fixes my problem.

so i can charge with the 1500 mah charger a battery that is 1650mah capacity ? but it wil charge FASTER than a normal charger ? that's the point ?
Wait, you are mixing things up! Your Xperia Z1 Charger does supply 1500 mA (which means 1,5 Ampere) of current at 5,0V DC.
Your Xperia S Battery has a Capacity of 1650 mAh (or 1,65 Ampere Hours) which means that it can supply 1,65 Ampere of continuous current for 1 hour (at 5V, I guess)
So: Yes, you can use a bigger charger and it will charge your phone faster, in this case nearly twice as fast. This will not damage your phone, as it will (as already said) just take the maximum current it can make use of.

I thought it was the chipset/kernel which had fast charge capabilities, not the charger?
If the phone only takes the maximum current it will make use of, it doesn't matter what the charger is spitting out, the phone will only draw what it needs to.
I could be wrong, but my Nexus 4 charged at exactly the same speed when I used my Nexus 7 charger as it did with the stock charger.

You are perfectly right! And it's also what I wanted to say. Of course if your phone is not able to draw more than 750 mA, a bigger Charger is useless.
But one can safely try it out!

Is it okay to USe 2mA charger for xperia Z1

No, if phone is limited to use 1.5 it will drain only 1.5 no matter of how much strong charger you connect it to.

You probably mean 2A (or 2000mA).
I don't know if 2mA will work though.. Maybe you will need to charge it while it's off, and it will still take a few days (weeks maybe?) to fully charge.

your z3c charging speed?

Hi there, I just wanted to try something...
I see that my Z3C charges very slow with the original UK charger. It charges 800mah every sec9nd. So I tried with the iPad charger and it is still the same.. maybe abit lower, at 600mah. what is going on? it takes almost 3-3.5 ahours to charge this phone... seriouslly? Sometimes I forget to charge it overnight and chargin it at day is like charging though a USB port...

Maths.
2600 mAh battery.
800 mA charger.
2600/800 = 3.25 or 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Today, I don't think this phone can accept anything like 2A charger (don't really know) . Else, it would take 1.3h or 1 hour and 18 minutes.
Get a 2A charger, disconnect every electrical equipment and charge your phone.

But this is strange....If the stock charger says it gives 1.5A, then why is it charging so much slower? at 600 or 800 mah? thats like USB pc speed... Isnt this device supported for quick charge 2.0? I may be able to buy a quick charge capable charger so it charges faster? any solution?

Ever thought about your phone using power too? Plus some power is lost in heat.

Yes Quickcharging will improve charging time. But as stated above it also depends if you use your phone in the meantime and its idel consumption. The fastest charging time will be if you turn of your phone and then start charging.
I'm getting over 1600mA (according to cooltool), phone charges in 1.5 hours... Factory 1500mA charger, its the same with regular usb and magnetic connector. Rooted 4.4.4

WOW, 1.5 hours, thats just impossible for me. I wonder what is going on... I will check on cooltool
Turn off and charge your phone, and check how fast its charging, mine takes about 1.45hrs with 1.5A factory charger.
Guys I bought a supposed quick charger for my Sony Z3C. When it arrived i read the specs on it and they were 5V 2A. Is it safe to use with my Z3C? If so will it actually make charging quicker?
cheers
It sure is safe (and quick), charge on
so is the stock charger charging at what? it says 1.5A; 800 or as stated 1.5?
