OK I got this phone and it was already rooted I need some help cause I don't know what kind of mods are done or what they uses to root it it's a Motorola atrix hd and I'm trying to figure out how to make a recovery for my atrix
Do you have an unlocked bootloader? I think you can verify this by booting into fastboot.

Hi everyone!
Sorry for my English but I'm Italian
I'm an iPhone user and I don't know anything about Android, but I'm going to buy an Android smartphone and I have wavered between the 4X HD and the One X.
Generally I find the 4X HD better, but now I'd buy the One X because of its lots of ROMs.
On the 4X HD there isn't the root access ( for now ) but you know that a video showed the 4X running a beta version of CyanogenMod 10! Now, I know that "CM 10 on the 4X" isn't equal tob "root access" because it woulded be a developer version of the 4X, but why was the CM team supposed to work on the 4X HD if nobody can install their ROM on it?
What I mean is that, in my opinion, there's a way to have root access on the 4X HD and maybe somebody already knows it, but doesn't tell us how to have it....
But I'm just a 16 yo boy and an iPhone user, so I'd like to hear your opinions, too. What do you think about the root access on the 4X HD?
Thank you very much

that must be a no in stereo patience though, and it will show up.
whats the fun about having a root'd phone, and not getting any roms or any news kernels to use with it.
its like having lots of money, its no fun if you got no one to share it with
Enjoy the stock while you can
the cyanogen mod developer you saw was using a developer version of the 4X, it probably had an unlocked boot loader that allowed him to install a different rom with root access. These phones are only available to developers and are not the same as retail version. On the retail version they lock the boot loader and secure the access to the internal system folders so no one can tamper with it. Eventually someone might figure out how to Root the device and then we'll have all the access we need.
Bear in mind that Rooting any phone will void your warranty and you wont get support from LG if they know it's rooted, you'll have to be sure you want to do it. So far in some of the phones I've seen they could be Un Rooted to regain the warranty, a Rooted phone has it's advantages like the App called Cerberus which has a feature to not get deleted if the thief factory resets the phone so you could locate it again.
Any time I have a problem with my HTC Sensation I come to XDA for Solutions, and thats rooted and bootloader unlocked.
I'm hopeing to get my hands on the 4X once it's realeased in the UK

in our case with the Tegra3 chipset, we have another problem, which is the secure boot, which is locked by SBK (SecureBootKey) that is also needed to flash a new boot or getting a unlocker from LG, which is previously seen by Asus being distributed.. on some other tegra3 models they solution was simply booting into fastboot and sending "fastboot oem unlock" but i have personally not been able to run fastboot.
but root is not the only requirement to get CM10 we need more , to be able to flash their changes or even boot it.

Hi!
Please correct me if I am wrong. I am confused a bit about locked bootloader and SBK.
- Locked bootloader prevents device to run custom ROM and custom recovery.
- SBK is kind of encryption when sending command in APX mode.
This means we need both unlocked bootloader and SBK for rooting 4X right?
Thanks

you are correct
and that means its kinda useless to buy/keep the phone, because we probably never get CM10?!?
I don’t think LG will unlock the bootloaders...
HTC initially never unlocked the Sensation bootloader but it still got unlocked by devs.
We just need to find an exploit somewhere and someone with the knowledge to use it.
Problem that I can see so far is that the phones lack of availability is restricting the user base.

well, HTC and their mobiles got a huge fanbase, so comparing Tegra3 to that kind of community with 1000+ downloads on a mod, is not really nice
with Tegra2, we got the bootloader hacked in the Acer500 section.
but Tegra3 comes with the SBK and encyption of partitions on top, and even APX mode is not compatible yet.
its a long way to go to achieve some root functionality and CM10.
Hey guys,
I recently attempted to root my RAZR HD and it failed miserably. My device isn't bricked, but I was unable to finish the root. My biggest problem I ran into was having trouble flashing CWM recovery to my device. I was wondering what was the easiest way to do this for the RAZR HD or if there's a Toolkit with CWM recovery flashing built in? Also, in your personal opinions, what's the best 4.2 ROM for the RAZR HD and why?
Thanks guys,
Carter

I'm interested in hearing this too. I'm rooted but do not not have CWM installed, curious how to do this.
If you want CWM you must unlock your BL through motorola. This is only possible for XT925 devices and WILL void your warranty. Then all you have to do is flash the custom recovery through fastboot. Root won't allow you to install CWM, and it can be installed without root but you need to have an unlocked bootloader.
Droid RAZR HD = XT926: bootloader CANT be unlocked. You would have to use Safestrap and a compatible ROM.
International RAZR HD = XT925 : unlockable bootloader through moto.

Hi all,
I want to thank you for your help right off the bat!
I have an unlocked dev edition HTC One - I first tried to flash a recovery, tried to root and then add a rom.. i then figured out I didnt need to Root because when the bootloader is unlocked, you can just flash a rom and the Rom should have root in it. (At least I was told this)
I currently have a custom rom on here but How do I restore to factory settings with bootloader unlocked just like it was shipped to me? When i tried to restore through the RUU thingy, i had to relock the bootloader and then flash the stock image and this causes the dev edition not to really be a dev edition because it's locked once restored.
Is there something I can do or a step by step video? Thanks again

Hi,
I see this here but will this restore the recovery for the Dev Version of the HTC One? I am trying to make the device as if no one touched it sent from HTC with boot-loader unlocked, stock recovery, stock rom.. right now I have the updated rom 1.29... but the recovery is clockwork mod and the boot-loader says *Tampered* and the Unlocked.. when i boot up the One, the htc error is at the notification bar which says your device experience an odd recovery or something like that and you have the option to send HTC a report or not and it goes away.. im thinking this is because of the receovery not being stock.
I gave this device to someone who traded with me and im looking to help him restore it to factory settings. can someone help?

Hi All,
My One Dev edition shipped to me unfortunately while its bootloader is locked (!!!!_
I've sent HTC support team few email with the IMEI ans SN but was answered only that according there knowledge my device should be unlocked. When i asked for there support to unlock it, i was replied that i can unlock it by myself using HTCdev instruction but then i will have no warranty....
This was not the mean while decided to buy the dev edition...
Did any of you experienced such a situation? can you please advice?
Hello guys
So, here's the deal. Few months back, I messed up my One and got it stuck at the grey HTC Screen. Couldnt boot into system, because I guess there was no ROM on the device. Thanks to you guys here at XDA, I got the situation analyzed and took the device to an HTC Service Center who told me to get my motherboard replaced. That was way too costly, so I got it JTAGed. The device now boots into ROM, but it cant boot into the bootloader. So I cant unlock the bootloader, S-OFF, Root or anything.
I can only boot into ROM. Can anyone please explain why this is so and what can I do to get my bootloader and recovery back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Which methods are you using to get into the bootloaader ?

Sorry for the late reply..i was out of town..
I tried adb and manually pressing power+down..but to no avail.
I figured it out in the end though...i dont know what happened but the device suddenly went into the bootloader one day and now its working fine.
I have a question..
My device has been jtagged. Its now bootloader locked, unrooted, s on.
Is it dangerous for me to try to unlock and s off and flash a new rom?
Can a device be flashed after its been jtagged? Im sorry I dont have much experience with jtag.
Thanks!
hey guys ive done a lil looking into my turbo XT1254 now im ruing 5.1 OTA from verizon now the bootloaders between the turbo and MAXX from what ive heard are almost the same and that its possible to downgrade BLs from lollipop to kitkat now with this maybe being possible (again havnt tried it myself but seen it here on XDA) would it be possible to replace the stock turbo BL w the MAXX bl and unlock it that way seeing that motorola has an unlocking tool for the maxx it maybe a solution if anyone wants to try it id like to see the results in the mean time i will continue working on root again im not 100% on this as i dont have a maxx good luck if you try it let me know what you guys think
That wold not work, bootloader is only a image file, like recovery, that reads a hidden code on the device (of course have many other functions), if you change for the maxx to turbo and vice versa, in theory you are change 6 by 12/2, but have a chance of permanent brick your phone.
The only thing i don't dare to mess today is the bootloader, once you brick the bootloader you cant load files to device any more, and can't load a stock bootloader.
I search if exist a way to force load a image to device even if the bootloader is brick, for Motorola devices, I didn't find, for other devices you need especial tool or factory-USB cable.
I have some ideas i wanna to try, change the bootloader like those guys change the mofo image, i know is not the same but the principle is.
But in the case i permanent brick my only copy of Quark by doing something wrong, i leave that for those that are working on bootloader unlock and i wish they find a way...
after post i discovery this...

Alright I'm just very tired of not having root and just ideas keep coming to me about work arounds but I can see why getting 5.1 root on this phone is a pain

Changing your bootloader would do no good. Your device will still be registered as a Turbo when you enter the numbers it returns during the unlocking process and you will be given the "device not eligible" from Moto's website when you try to get your unlock code. I tried it myself with the 2013 Droid Maxx using the developer edition FXZ
