My friend just got an hd+, installed the newest nightly cm11, and that version wouldn't let his keyboard run. I downloaded the newest snapshot and installed that, now it gets stuck on the cm loading screen and will not fully boot up. Any help?

Keyboard errors usually mean you used the wrong version of gapps. I suggest you wipe /system and factory reset and flash CM11 again with the correct version of gapps.

Guys I just rooted someones kindle fire hd and when I boot into twrp I do everything I am supposed to. When it goes to boot the word google appears with two gears that spin then it just stops does nothing. I have to restore it from backup to get back to the kindle os. I used different roms and this was the last one that I tried with no luck
[05/14] ALPHA CM10.1 + 3.0.50+ KERNEL
is there something I am doing wrong?
Did you install the stack manually or did you use FireFlash for TWRP?

FireFlash isn't at fault. I did the same thing when I installed TWRP on my Kindle. The image you're seeing is an actual Google Nexus boot animation, but why it's on an Amazon device, no idea. I do know it froze.
No, fireflash is fine, i just didnt know if you checked the tickbox to install the stack. The google animation? I'm assuming he's using the same tabletUI rom as me, it comes with that animation, if so, the reason its not booting is because the 1.5 kernel it comes with doesn't work with your Kindle, all kindles hardware is different so you need to go to the tabletui rom thread and download the updated version to flash or the 1.2Ghz kernel instead.
Hope this helps.

Katalystik can you put a link in for the tabletui rom thread? thanks!
So the guy who has the kindle fire 7 second gen gave it back to me cause he bought a fast boot cable. I went to flash a rom and now it wont flash anything it just says failed in red. Is there something wrong with twrp?
OK the tablet ui link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265465
As to the part about twrp being messed up that is doubtful, I'd guess the zip your flashing was a bad download or corrupt, that usually what comes to mind in these situations, I suggest checking the md5sum with esfile explorer before you try to flash the zip, though I am not sure what you are flashing because I don't know if u found the tablet ui before I posted it or if your flashing something else, and I think jester didn't include the md5sum for his ROM... Also if u are flashing from stock to a cm build u need to wipe system, and do a factory reset and I always clear my dalvik cache and cache before I reboot into the new os.

i searched the forums for help but nothing has helped so far, so heres my problem:
i installed CM10.1 to my internal memory last week. i installed it with CWM, during the installation i installed the TWRP package hoping that it would install TWRP (i read somewhere that it should be installed during the process). once i installed CM10.1 i rebooted thinking it would boot into TWRP but........ nope! i installed TWRP from Gplay. the interface is epic and it seems like it might be a great app but when i select the reboot to recovery my HD+ just reboots back into CM10.1
im still able to boot into CWM recovery so im sure thats the problem so i need help removing CWM. there is no app installed and i cant seem to find the folder (at least not with file expert. i was hoping to be able to install the latest rom using TWRP but its proving to be harder than i thought. thanks in advance guys, any and all help is appreciated!
CWM is not part of the CM10.1 ROM. It is totally separate. It is not an app. It is installed in its own location in internal memory. To get to either CWM or TWRP recovery, you need to activate the reboot option in CM10.1. Go to settings, about tablet and tap the build number several times. That will activate developers options. Then go to developer options and put a check in advanced reboot. Then on power off menu you should be able to boot to recovery. If it is CWM in recovery, just flash the TWRP install zip from verygreen's emmc thread and it will be TWRP from then on, replacing CWM.

lol, TWRP is epic but i was more excited with the fact that it worked. i havent installed the newest update rom yet but will as soon as i can. im sure my first go with TWRP will go as it should. i just used TWRP to make a backup and it was so much easier than CWM. that alone to me is worth installing TWRP.

Make sure you are using verygreen's latest TWRP (2.60) as earlier versions had backup/restore broken.

Maybe what happened to you is that you had flashed a custom recovery, but then in the next reboot the stock recovery was automatically re-flashed.
Try to install custom recovery by Terminal Emulator, then reboot to recovery right after you flashed using command code. I believe you can search for this inside our Atrix HD forum sector.
If you can boot to CWM recovery, there will be a CWM icon instead of an Android bot with its belly opened as in Stock recovery.
Good luck.
Done
Ok thanks too much!! just need instal the Recovery, after that the installation of CM run and installation finished as normal!! there is a new version of CM 10.1 stable, it was what I flash it!!

finally i solved problems by myself
Hello,
After much stress and thinking I had bricked the Nook HD+:fingers-crossed:, I have finally installed CyanogenMod 10.2 to the emmc (I was trying to install to sd card ). Now however, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing regarding apps. Is GAPPS supposed to give me access to the play store? If not, is there any way I can have access to the play store? What methods are there to getting apps?
Thanks in advance.:good:
Gapps gives you Play Store. If you don't want Play Store, you can either sideload or use other stores such as 1mobile.com or Amazon. But before you can do the you must go to settings/security and enable unknown sources.
Get gapps at goo.im.

Thanks for that. I did try to install gapps through cwm but obviously something must have gone wrong. Will redownload gapps and try again. Is it possible t install just the play store? Not interested in having gmail installed.
Secondly, is it normal for the nook to not charge whilst it is switched off?
If your running cm10.2 make sure you get the august 13th 2013 gapps

No, you need gapps, the 20130813 version. And gmail does not come with gapps.
Yes it is normal to not charge while completely being turned off.

I have been using that version of gapps. Redownloaded it but still unsuccessful.
Then I reformatted the card and put cwm 6.0.3.2 on it again, still no joy.
Then I toggled signature check to Enable, still no joy.
CWM tells me it has cleaned up and installed etc. When I reboot, no play store. Do I have to reflash cm-10.2-20131111-NIGHTLY-ovation on it again?
On the charging issue, does this not cause an issue if the battery is completely empty?
Did you factory reset with CWM after you installed the CM10.2? If not, you need to now.
And no, if the battery is low enough, it will charge until it turns itself on.

Yep, wiped data/factory reset.
I think I've realised what I did wrong yesterday when I flashed 10.2.
I downloaded 'sdcard-ovation-cm10.2-sdv2.img' and put that image on the micro sd card.
I then put 'cm-10.2-20131111-nightly-ovation.zip' onto internal memory. I think I was supposed to get the one for SD card only and here is the only place I think I went wrong. I also put the 'gapps' file mentioned above into internal memory. Installed both from zip, wipe data, reboot. Cyanogenmod 10.2 is working fine off emmc.
Having realised that I used the wrong image file on the SD card, i've now downloaded 'cwm-recovery-ovation-3.zip' and put the image file from this onto the SD card using Win32diskimager. This card now cant be recognised by my laptop or the nook hd+. Corrected the process. This bit is no longer relevant.
You said you were trying to install to SD first. When you finally switched to installing on emmc, did you switch to the proper CWM that was made for flashing to emmc? The CWM that was made for installing CM to SD will install the emmc cm zip properly, but will not install gapps or factory reset properly.

This is where I think I have gone wrong. Is this the one I need to use "emmc-cwm-early2.1.img"?
Update:
And done. Used the above mentioned boot file on the SD card and ran through the 3 installs (cwm,cm10.2,gapps). I now have the device fully reset but with emmc loaded cm10.2 and most importantly, Play Store
Thank you very much for your help leapinlar, it has been appreciated.
When I boot my nook HD+ using the march 10 cm 11 nightly my screen shows the Original Nook screen for about a second, then the CM boot loader screen, is this normal? was I supposed to wipe the original somehow?
Once booted I am using 4.4, but many of the apps I had before installing CM are still there, and nova launcher was still set up the way I had it on the stock nook.
Also the android stock browser does not work. Any thoughts/suggestions/insults are welcome.

Yes, you were supposed to do a wipe data/factory reset with CWM after you flashed the CM11 zip. That would clear the data from the stock setup. If fact, you should boot back to CWM and do that now. That is probably why your browser does not work.
That boot screen is normal with CM (nook briefly followed by cyanoboot).
